SNUG is a charming and lively pub that much lives up to its reputation for being well, snug! We don't mind because everyone was in good cheer and we got to enjoy live Irish music. The potato leek hand pie was delicious and so were the Che Chori veggie Shepard's Pie Empanadas. We of course had to try as many of the Irish specialty drinks including the SNUG Butter Beer with SHANKEYS WHIP, Ginger Beer and Vanilla Cream. We had never tried Shankey's before but immediately picked up a bottle at Total Wine with If you LOVE Ginger Beer definitely try the Irish Mule S9. Popped into Snug to grab a cheeky drink before dinner. Snug is the perfect place to pop into and find a drink -- the door is open. (Literally. They had the door open, which was letting in the fresh almost-spring air.) Drinks are pretty much all they have at Snug, to be honest. Don't visit thinking you're going to find a meal, because they don't have a lot of food beyond locally made hand pies and empanadas, a grazing board, and something called Snug Nuts. (Which brings to mind certain ... images.) I didn't get any food, just a Road & Coke, which is a whiskey with a Coke and lime, similar to a Cuba libre, although a Cuba uses rum. It was delicious, but a little light on the booze. It was only $5 and change, though, so it's kind of like what do you expect, really. It was a nice drink to sip slowly while I sat in the small, cozy bar. Speaking of bar aesthetics: Snug lives up to its name. It's tiny and dark but inviting. It feels like stepping into a hug. Finally got to experience the Snug. It definitely has the vibe you want for an Irish Pub. Small, intimate with a sense of historical reverence. My friend and I were lucky to snag a small table. I love a Guinness. I saw on their menu they had a selection of Guinness mixed with other things. I asked our waiter his opinion and he suggested the Guinness with cider. It was a beautiful looking beer and it tasted great. My friend ordered the grazing board, which was delicious. It had cheese, bread, an assortment of nuts and grapes. Oh, what's not to LOVE about the SNUG? This has quickly become a go to for my group of friends, and I absolutely ADORE that it's in Irvington. Another Yelper put it perfectly.. the SNUG is quite possibly the best Irish Whiskey Pub/Bar in America. I'd agree with this. The owners truly know their s$%t when it comes to whiskey and it's a true passion for them. You see it immediately if you run into Jim or Leah, which you most likely will. A lot of work goes into curating their menu with trips overseas several times a year to taste and find those rare and exclusive finds. The wall of whiskey is something to behold, and a keen eye will hone in on the "bottled exclusively for the SNUG" branding on the side. I've joined their Whiskey Club and recently went to my first tasting event, which was an awesome selection of whiskeys. Keeper's Heart GAA, Fercullen (1st Anniversary exclusive), Dingle (2nd Anniversary exclusive) and a damn fine Dunville's 1808 with a Peach Brandy Cask Finish were the stand outs. Jim did a great job explaining the differences of each tasting, including some history about the maker as well as what makes each one special. We were joined via Skype with Brand Ambassadors from Dunville's and Dingle in Ireland to add to the experience. A truly wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The vibe is that of an authentic Irish Pub because, well, IT IS ONE! A small space, everyone is super friendly and it's definitely a place worth checking out. Keep an eye on this place, because I think you're going to see a lot coming from them.. include events that bring in some very well known people in the whiskey industry as well as some rare finds that you won't be able to find anywhere else. read more

I've never been to Ireland, but I would imagine they have many pubs like SNUG there! It was so quaint and cozy on a cool day. SNUG is located in historic Irvington. They really did a great job with the decor inside. Wood, greens and a tv with scenes of Ireland showing. Any whiskey or liquor is behind that bar. They have so much! Stopped by SNUG for the first time on St. Patrick's Day. What better time to visit an authentic Irish pub, right? It happened to be Monday and they had $5 pints. There were several Irish drafts on tap including a cider. I didn't do any whiskey but SNUG is known for their extensive list. You can get cocktails also and they were reasonably priced. The space is definitely "snug" for sure. It is no more than a glorified living room that doubles as a pub. From that perspective it's no different than pubs that you will find overseas. Hopefully when you arrive somebody else is leaving and you can snag a table. I definitely want to visit SNUG again the next time I am in Irvington. The SNUG is quite possibly the best Irish Whiskey pub/bar in America. Located in the historic Irvington neighborhood of Indianapolis the community that has been fostered at the SNUG in its short tenure is nothing short of amazing. While Jim Arnoldt is the face of the SNUG online there is an A-List team that runs the business, and works there. The SUNG is a small space - max capacity 49 according to the Fire Marshall - but it has the largest Irish Whiskey selection in Indianapolis, the state of Indiana, the Midwest, and quite possibly the country. There are regular Whiskey Club events where Distillers, Blenders, and Ambassadors will guide you through great whiskeys in a fun and engaging environment. The pint (of Guinness) is pretty darn good. On my scale it's a 4.25 (out of 5) with the head having a decent grip to the glass as it's happily consumed. Food wise your choice is either Tayto's (9 flavors available) or a snack plate. All I could think about when I sat down was "snug as a bug in a rug" haha! Have you been to Snug? Because if not, you should check it out! My husband found it when he was looking for an Irish bar around St Patrick's Day and tonight was the first opportunity we've had to go. It's the most cozy little bar tucked in on a side street in downtown Irvington. It's all Irish drinks and the service was phenomenal when I needed help picking out a whiskey from their extensive list. What an adorable new spot in Irvington!! This Irish pub is small but mighty. The decor is so eclectic and I found myself looking around at all the Knick knacks. They obviously sell Guinness and other drafts, but what I really loved were their slight twists in classic cocktails. I got a gin and tonic but theirs is made with a rose infused gin. So good!! Bartenders were friendly and helpful and it seems like the place is pretty lively. It does get kinda loud but it's all in good fun and adds to the exciting vibe. We've only gotten into this place 1 time, get there earlier cause it gets packed and SNUG quickly! But what a fun environment. This place is a seat yourself establishment, the tables are small and the seats low to the ground but very comfortable. The food menu is limited and we have not gotten to try anything yet. The beer selection is mostly traditional Irish style beer with a full spirits bar, so they do have something for everyone . They're serious when they said Snug! I love this cozy little pub. They have a great selection of Whisky and some beer. I have enjoyed going for a pot of tea and some snacks too! They don't focus too much on food, but they provide the perfect pairings to go with your beverage. They have a Selection Of Tayto's (I believe these are imported chips ... or "crisps") with some traditional flavors and some adventurous ones! Their grazing board and hand pies are great if your appetite is a little heartier. The grazing board is great to share! SNUG is as cozy as we all hoped. This tiny Irish bar just opened in Irvington as the neighborhood watering hole, and is a labor of love for the owner that's become exactly what he imagined. Dark wood, deep greens, Magners and stouts and every Irish whiskey under the sun greets you as you walk in. Opening day filled the thirty seats up fast, but the service was faster. The staff slings drinks out quickly and with confidence and joy that is rare for most businesses on day one. It's hard not to want to spend the whole day here but you know you've gotta share when you have a good thing in front of you! A much needed addition to Irvington! A while ago I saw this place pop up on Google and it wasn't open yet, but I am so glad I found the time to check it out. It's cozy, Irish and snug-ley. A snug traditionally is a private cozy spot and the atmosphere here hits this. There are 8 small round tables scattered around, 1 actual snug and 5 bar seats. Get here early! My husband and I came in at literally 3:05pm - five minutes after it opened and at 3:08 every table and bar stool was already full! The glasses for whiskey are adorable and monogramed to match the logo. Super cute Irish tasting glasses. Limited cocktails, teas, mixed nuts, cheese plate of course Guinness, smithwicks, magners etc. This is a great way to try many Irish whiskies without breaking the bank- most tastings are $5-6. Top 3 bar in indy easily. Knowledge of staff is second to none (other than maybe storied company, but not when comes to Irish whiskey specifically).
