Stopped in for food and beer while out Christmas shopping. Service was friendly and quick. Great staff! Ordered beers, the breaded tenderloin with tots, and my wife had a cheeseburger and tots. All the food had great flavor and large portions. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

The Corner Bar is located on the corner of Epler and Meridian Street, which is just West of 135. The parking lot fills up quickly, but you can park along side of the parking lot for a few unmarked spaces. The restaurant is basically divided into 3 rooms or sections. The bar area, the dining area, and deck space. During the pandemic, they built a large deck on the side of the restaurant, and it's enclosed with the all-weather enclosure. It is too hot inside for us to sit in today. We sat in the bar area, which was almost full. Our server, Angel S., delivered menus within minutes of us sitting down. She didn't miss a beat all evening. Drinks were refilled quickly, food orders were taken correctly as requested, and our check was delivered timely. The menu offers many sandwiches, reubens, tenderloin, catfish sandwiches, fish n' chips, and burgers, to name a few of which are highly recommended. Pizzas and dinner are another good option. They don't offer a lunch menu but instead have a daily lunch special. My husband had the daily special, a cheese burger and fries, minus cheese, and it did not disappoint. It was slightly overcooked from how he requested but still fine for him. A generous order of delicious fries accompanied the burger. I ordered the Blackened Catfish sandwich on a hoagie bun with onions rings ($1.29 upgrade) prepared just as I requested. The catfish was truly delicious, and I appreciate the chef understands that blackened doesn't mean burnt. The seasoning covered the fish well, the fish was tender, flaky, and I so enjoyed my lunch. The atmosphere was a room full of friends enjoying their meals and beverages with lots of laughter. The music was great, classic rock n' roll with a juke box in the room and played at a conversation volume. Great service, delicious food, and a fun atmosphere. Recommend for a drink, lunch, or dinner.

It's been several months since I stopped in. New bartender with a totally friendly attitude. Offered me beer chips to make a bucket special. ;)

First time there, it definitely won't be the last. Employees were super friendly and the service was top notch. My companion got a bacon cheeseburger, which was delicious and actually filled him up! I got the shrimp basket and fries, and again, it was great.

Stopped in here after looking for an Asian grocery store in the area, and after my hunt, I was starved. Saw they were close by and didn't expect much, but I saw delicious, greasy looking food photos on the yelp page, so I tried my luck. I was not disappointed! I was there on a Friday for their boneless wing special and they served up a heaping pile of wings and tots. They were a little saucy but that's not a complaint! Service was fast and they kept checking on me!

EDIT: The organization I deceptively mentioned at the beginning of my review has rightfully asked…read moreme to clarify that I am not a member, voting or otherwise, past or present, of CCL, nor have I pursued membership or been interested in doing so. I've helped a little bit with a few of their events, but I'm just some concerned queer who got livid when he heard about this, and I thought that implying I'm with a group would make my words carry more weight. Stupid, and I make exactly one apology: for lying about my affiliation, I'm sorry. The organization has also asked me not to abut Shelby Street Tavern's reply to my review on Google, and I have grudgingly agreed. However, the post stays. I will notate my deception, and will also remove the needlessly rude section at the end, but the rest stands. ORIGINAL POST, EDITED AS EXPLAINED ABOVE: This is honestly a great bar, mostly, hence the 5-stars for Food, Service, and Atmosphere. I was initially glad my organization [NOTE: THIS IS A LIE, SEE ABOVE] chose to patronize this place. But that appreciation ended last night when bar management decided that keeping things quiet was more important than dealing with an assault and battery that happened at the bar. If the genders and races in the situation had been reversed, my friend would still be in jail right now, while the harasser in this situation got to finish out their night feeling good about getting away with what they've done. Someone reserving your bar for an event does not magically get the right to assault and batter someone. Never mind that the person doing the A&B has a history of harassing the person they chased out of the bar... [NOTE: FINAL PARAGRAPH REMOVED FOR BEING UNNECESSARILY RUDE]

While the space is small, the energy inside is huge. I recommend taking a group of people and splitting the whole chicken dinner. It fed 3 of us plus leftovers. Their fry platter is also top tier. It's not often that I find myself on this side of town these days, however, I arrived at Duke's…read moreIndy to participate in a fundraising event. It gave me an opportunity to check out a venue I'd always wanted to check out. Duke's is a honky-tonk (think Waylon not Wallen), an intimate yet wonderfully decorated bar located in what was formerly known as Ice House Bar. Duke's has live music nearly every night - if it's not actually music, it's some other type of event. The venue is relatively small with about a max of 60 in the main room and a side space that could probably fit 20-25 more. The main room has mostly 4-top tables with a bar area available. The side space seems to be mostly high-top tables. Duke's has a lunch and dinner menu. While it may seem weird for a honky-tonk, Duke's actually has a rather extensive vegan menu. They are well known for their fried chicken, however, the menu actually has a variety of bar food ranging from burgers to tenderloin to appetizers to a bunch of other items. The vegan menu is also surprisingly extensive. Duke's has a full bar. I was pleased that they do have unsweetened iced tea. I ordered the chicken - which came with a chicken breast and a wing. It was nicely seasoned and quite delicious. In terms of accessibility (which was relevant since I'm a wheelchair user and one of the acts was using a motorized chair), Duke's has made some definite efforts toward accessibility (this is an older building with limits). There's a ramp offering accessibility in the back (and there is parking in the back). This is a very working class/industrial area, but everything felt safe to me and I had no issues. The ramp has a side rail you can hold on to if needed. I was able to use the ramp without much difficulty. The dining area is easily accessible other than the side area with high-tops (it's accessible, but the tables are higher). It looked like they had 3-4 bathrooms with all being single user. The first one I tried wasn't wheelchair friendly, however, the second one worked quite nicely and did have bars. Duke's had brought in a ramp - an impressive gesture. They stated it was something they'd been wanting to do and today offered the opportunity. It wasn't perfect, however, when you're disabled you get so used to lack of access that when someone genuinely tries you tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. I sure did. Employees were super friendly throughout the event and I got the opportunity to meet the owner for the event (which was comedy). Overall, this was an excellent experience. They have their concert schedule on their website along with their menu. This is a lovely little honky-tonk and I really enjoyed my time here. I almost stayed for tonight's concert (I actually knew her music), however, after being there all afternoon I was tired. That said, I'll no doubt return.

What a great place, busy but not too busy to say hello as we walked in. Our friends were already seated and our waitress was asking us for a drink order as soon as we sat down. Yea The place was packed with all kinds of people, construction workers, business people everyone was polite and welcoming from staff to customers The place doesn't look real great on the outside but the minute you walk in you know you are in the right place. Old pictures, old stuff everywhere you could spend a day just looking at Indianapolis in the past. The food was served hot and delicious. I had a 1/4 pound chili dog, my husband had a double burger patties were fresh and big. My friend had steak tips, tuff but sauce served in was delicious and lastly my friend had a tenderloin and slaw. The slaw look like a dinner salad it was so big.
