My brother and I were shopping nearby and he suggested this place for lunch. I wasn't sure since it's a little unassuming from the outside but they actually have a pretty good amount of options to choose from, from pizza to burgers to salads. I had the breaded tenderloin which was pretty good. They also have the option to add an extra bun for a few extra dollars which I loved. The tenderloin was pretty good-sized and came with a heaping helping of fries (upgraded from potato chips). The fries came from frozen but they added their own seasoning blend so they were pretty good. My brother had a burger and said it was decent. When we came in, they were putting up holiday decorations to get ready for an upcoming holiday party. We were immediately greeted when we came in the door and it seems like they have a good amount of regular customers. It definitely seemed like a welcoming, local joint. It is on the smaller side on the inside (maybe 5 or 6 tables in addition to bar seating), but they had a lot of seating outside as well. read more

I have been on a quest to find the BEST Fish Sandwich in Indianapolis since the start of Lent. I have tried over 25 different places. Of all places visited. This local spot was close to the movies so we decided to try it for a meal with friends after seeing a show. The staff seemed friendly and accommodating, and after entering we decided to sit outside for our meal. There are several iron tables and chairs outside and they were pretty comfortable. The road is right there so it can be a bit noisy but it wasn't too bad. If you have allergies or are sentient or to smoke however it might not be a wise choice as everyone comes outside to smoke. A general smoke pall hung over the space, so in the future we would probably sit inside where it is no smoking. The food is basic pub fare and seemed decent sizes for the price. I had breaded cauliflower and a side salad which were both reasonable and tasty. The rest of the group got varied sandwiches and liked them all. The homemade chips were a bit greasy for some of our group so in future they said they would get something else as their side. They don't have a ton of 'healthy' options but are more burgers and sandwiches but do those really well. Our waitress was super helpful and brought us water over and over which we appreciated. It is a pretty decent meal for an ok price. read more

We have driven by here on the way to the AMC and have see live music outside. We wanted tenderloins so popped in to get in a to-go order after our movie. They made both fresh and it came with home made potato chips that were a cross between fries and chips. They were excellent even after our 20 min ride home. I did wait a bit to place my order and it did take a bit to come out, but it was hot and fresh. I am not sure we will stop to eat there since we are wanting to get home after our long day at the movies, but do think we will keep it in mind for a to-go order. I may call next time to see if we can order before we leave the theatre. It takes us time to pack up the wheelchair. The tenderloin was large and I liked it. I hadn't been to this restaurant/pub for a few years, so I decided to stop in for lunch to see what was new. In short, not much. They still have plenty of outdoor seating for visitors to enjoy during nice weather. They still have a small table seating area with about a dozen seats at the bar (3 way liquor license, so you can get the hard stuff.) They have a music machine and a pull tab dispenser near the door. I was by myself and chose to sit at the bar since the only other customers were there too. They do have table service, but I figured it was easier and would get better service if I was conveniently seated. I did get a menu and my beverage promptly. And the woman who took my order got the order right and processed quickly. So, after just a short wait, I got my mushroom burger with an upgrade from chips to fries. The sandwich came fully loaded as ordered and the mushrooms were generously portioned. The other ingredients were also fresh. But the burger was not that great. It was roughly a half pound burger, which would normally allow for the grill to get nice and hot to provide a tasty char to the outside. And some of the middle was still pink which can be risky depending upon the place you get it. And with all the ingredients loaded on the sandwich, I didn't think I would be able to have it re-fired. The shoestring fries were plentiful, but were unseasoned. So, by the time they arrived, the salt I added from the shaker fell off. I had to season my ketchup to get more flavor. Overall, it was an affordable meal that was generous in quantity, but a bit underwhelming in flavor. The service was thoughtful and attentive without being intrusive. So, just an A-O-K from me. This is a family bar. The lady who had owned it is Roberta, she passed away of breast cancer. A new woman Jennifer took it and continued the amazing family atmosphere. EVERYONE knows everyone. He was eating at the bar and reluctantly asked "what's up" after we had no drinks in front of us for at least 10 minutes after telling him we wanted to drink while waiting for our carryout food. If you're not a regular, it may feel slightly unwelcoming at first. But, if you're looking for strong drinks and solid bar food, this is the spot. I go semi regularly now, and feel like my rating reflects a combination of average service, reliably good bar food (do yourself a favor -try the wings), and a sub-par/dingy interior. Biggest plus is that their kitchen is ALWAYS open. They don't shut it down an hour or 2 before close, like most other places. We went in there for lunch. We ordered the tenderloin sandwiches. I ordered mine with chips and his with fries. The tenderloins are huge and very crispy. They have a good seasoning on them. The chips look to be homemade and the fries are just as delicious as the potato chips. The server did a great job of taking care of us. This is certainly tossed into the ring. A tenderloin with ham and cheese (basically, another sandwich) added in top; never a bad thing. Of course I add bacon too, part of the diet. They don't possess an exorbitant beer selection, but they do make a pretty stout mixed drink. They have some clever signs, memorabilia, and other neat stuff sitting about. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but please don't judge this book by its cover. Surprisingly enough, it's just good ol' pub food. And let me remind my viewers that I don't drink, so when I judge a bar, it'll only be on the food and service. (And sometimes the ambiance..) So my husband and I were trying to be good, so we split a giant pick-3 appetizer with a friend--we got the tenderloin chips (literally cut up fried tenderloin.. not bad..), the nacho fries (tasty crinkle cut fries under nacho cheese, jalapenos, onions and tomatoes--so decent!) and then spicy fried cheese (literally fried pepperjack cheese curds--YUM)! I thought these were all decent and just couldn't mess any of it up! We split the main dish, the Bert and Den's "Deluxe" which is their tenderloin topped with ham & swiss (but we were good and got it grilled)--again, pretty tasty! This place was not hipster (thank goodness), you can tell it's some local's favorite watering hole. I went to a friend's band gig there the other night and they were awesome and the crowd loved it. It's a pretty small place, and I was surrounded by halloween decorations for this time of year, so I won't particularly judge them on that. For semi-lack-of-service, I docked them a star. Great little hole in the wall joint on the Southside. Pizza and food along with very good service is decent enough to garner 4 stars. Awkwardly (or not awkwardly) located on the very end of Southern Plaza, this casual dive has an eclectic feel to it and is a nice little stop. This is a very odd place. It's a bar in a location that is better suited for a drug store. The food is average and the drink specials are decent. You will primarily find regulars in here but given the location, I'm not quite sure from where these regulars come. We stopped in for a late lunch today (first time there) and had a great experience. Food was good, had a: tenderloin, spicy cheese bites, chili and baked potato. For a strip mall bar this is a gem. Wacky and fun crowd with a dive bar feel. And I say that as a positive. Food is your traditional bar food but is real good. We often hang out here when our kids are roller skating. Staff is friendly and attentive. Looking for a non pretentious neighborhood bar this is your ticket. Recently stopped here on a Friday evening for dinner and a beer. The atmosphere is that of a dark, cluttered sports bar. There was a game on the tv's and there was music blaring. Everyone there seemed to be regulars. Especially the overly intoxicated, extremely loud woman who never sat down. Our server was really pleasant and brought our $1.75 drafts quickly. No pitchers but at $1.75 a pint that's ok. The black & blue burger was really good. A little overcooked for my liking but had great flavor. The hubs got the breaded tenderloin and it was pretty good, too. It was pounded out pretty thin but hand breaded, fried crisp and not greasy. I'd definitely return here for more cheap beer and tasty grub. And, hopefully the couple who sat at the table by us and made-out the entire time won't be there. Get a room folks!! read more

This was an unexpected great find on this side of Indianapolis. While the bar is on the corner of a strip mall, the food is AMAZING. This could be one of the best burgers I've eaten. The fries were also delicious-the right crisp level coupled with a seasoning that was simply delightful. Our beers were cold and the price was completely reasonable. Went back the next day and ordered the Philly steak. With no cheese on it the steak, onions and peppers did not quite gel the way I like. For as much window surface there is, it was very dark at 1 in the afternoon. The waitress kept forgetting our orders. She asked if we wanted drinks and then never bought them until we got up to leave. Tenderloin was very large but very over cooked. Chicken cordon bleu sandwich was very bland. Cheese tasted like wax. Fries were the frozen tasteless kind. Not many customers but those in there were very friendly with the wait staff.
