We were not dressed, outrageously bad either we just had mainly dresses on in tights so whatever. And then he also turns to what looked like customers after we had ordered our drinks and said this is why we don't do this. After a concert in Monument Circle, I scanned my Yelp app for a nearby watering hole. My fellow Yelpers gave it 4.5 stars, which was enough to direct me to the Pub. But seriously, guys, this place is average. On the night I arrived (Saturday), it was overly loud. A DJ alternated with karaoke. The place is spacious and dark. Typical of nearly any bar in any city. Service left something to be desired. We had to flag down a waitress to take our initial order. We sat with our check for ten minutes before getting fed up and tracking her down to pay. I did like the fact that each beer came in its own special glass. The Fat Tire glass says "Fat Tire," Stella's glass says "Stella." We ordered some kind of stuffed breadsticks with cheese and pepperoni inside. They were obviously frozen, but definitely hit the spot. The Pub is fine, I guess. But it's nothing special. read more

Okay so this SOS Pub is actually POS Pub. Let's start with the bartenders. Walk in with my friend to have a drink..dude bartender is grumpy, crabby, rude and plain nasty and acted like serving a drink would have just plain f'ed his day up. Bar was dead and unlively that time. I went another time to meet some friends...same bartender same problem. Bathrooms looked like they were built by 2 yrs old. Witnessed drug use as well which was scary. My friend and I went outside waiting for an uber outside the patio. Me, being from a small town saw some guy tumbling outside the bar with 2 open beer cans walking towards his car. I said to the man,,, hey im not sure you can walk outside with open containers.(my friends said ..no...u can here) ok so big deal. Well then seconds later the grumpy old bartender came running out getting in my face telling me you are never allowed in bar again! Your friend is a darling but YOU are never welcomed back.!! Absolutely absurd. very rude staff. Definitely do not recommend this crap bar! Unfortunate because the location is stellar...otherwise a true eyesore for downtown Indy. read more

I came here after a Pacers basketball game and it was semi-fun; my waitress was friendly, the food was salty, and the music was way too loud-just what I would expect. I ate the sample app platter, and I liked it: shrimp, pretzel bites, wings, fries, onion rings, fried mac n cheese- so good (but so bad for me)! Their menu contains plenty of options. The location of the Pub is great! Visit before-after-or during a game, you can pre-post-or watch [sports] game(s) on the TVs. I'd say the setup is best if you have a smaller group 2-4ppl. You know you're in a pub when ________ . ;-) ...dim lights, neon flair, well whiskey and beer (among other spirits).... The Pub is good for a drink, or to hang out for a little while. False advertising. The drink is actually 5.96 according to the subtotal. So it's under $6 and should be half price right? No. They go ahead and include the tax in it and say it's not but then at the bottom of the receipt show the tax separated. Didn't even care that much about it at the time and would've be fine with it but wanted to state that it obviously isn't true. The thing that pissed me off though is that I tried asking about it and stating the fact that no according to this receipt the actual subtotal is $5.96 which means that the drink itself is in fact under $6. So a vodka water isn't half off. What exactly is? Well once I did that the bartender Keith turned in to a real asshole. Wouldn't have cared about it really and even said I know you don't obviously make the prices and he kept cutting me off saying "yep it's cool whatever man." If you enjoy watching sports (TV's everywhere), great service with good pub food then drop by. We hadn't been in for years and stopped by for lunch Saturday. Misty, our server, was very friendly and personable plus we enjoyed our lunch as well as the laid back Saturday atmosphere. Fish & Chips were decent with 2 thick filets breaded & deep fried. The Reuben (cornbeef) was piled high, smothered in swiss, cheese, Kraut and thousand island dressing on marble bread. The onions rings were really delicious! Now of course I'm describing deep fried foods so obviously we're taking into consideration a little grease here...not offensive. Nice large bar area for size of Pub and great place for drinks before or after an event at the Fieldhouse. read more

Heard one of the bartenders (blonde one) complain about my group when all we wanted were drinks and if she was overwhelmed, we would've understood but she just ignored us. We were desperate for a bar with a patio because we were losing daylight, so we decided to stop by here. Had a couple of beers and nachos. The nachos were hands down the worst nachos I've ever had. I would not wish these nachos upon my worst enemy. They used 7-11 style processed cheese which tasted disgusting and maybe 1/8 of a tomato. Chips tasted old. Salsa was basically water with a slight tomato taste. Even the sour cream looked and tasted gross. It was as thick as cream cheese. The best thing going for the nachos were the pickled jalapeños. The service was fine although the server did not know much about what types of beer they even carry, let alone any specifics of the beers. read more

If for no other reason this place is awesome for the Sunday morning Bloody Mary bar. If you did not know about this, go check it out, its awesome. Other than that, the place is pretty blah. Nothing special, we only ever went because Howl at the Moon closed kinda early so we needed another place. They have cheap Bud/Bud Light drafts on Thursday after Butler night at HATM. The bartenders are never overly friendly and there have been times they offered me drinks in such a way to make me feel like they were on the house, then charged me anyway. All and all I don't go here often, but it has it's merits. Oh and the food, is just typical bar food, nothing special. read more

I usually give out stars like freebies. But this place has no excuse to not be a better bar. Look at the location!!!! This place should up its game if it plans to stay open for much longer. It naturally fills up ok the weekends but it is literally nothing special. The food menu is not too good and their drink specials are not that great either. They are a neighborhood bar in the middle of downtown but usually attract annoying people like Ohio State fans. The Pub is a bar with a ton of potential in a tremendous location, but with some holes in the armor. The Pub is located on Indianapolis' newly-redesigned "Georgia Street", a place lined with Bars and Restaurants that sees tremendous foot-traffic. What stands out for the Pub is its proximity to Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the home of the Indiana Pacers. It is literally the closest bar to the Fieldhouse, and is an easy 30 second walk across the street. The food at The Pub is absolutely tremendous, and relative affordable, for being a bar. Working downtown, I know myself and a buddy will go there from time to time just to have lunch. I personally am a fan of their double-decker grilled cheese that comes with bacon and tomato if so desired. It's tremendous. There's also a really good tenderloin and a solid burger. The problem with The Pub is that they inexplicably shoot themselves in the foot on days the Pacers play. They go to a game-day menu, which makes sense in theory, but the menu leaves off some of their tastier foods while stuff like fish remain. The Double-Decker Grilled Cheese? No where to be found. Also, the bar needs to up the ante with their social media presence. Hell, if I wonder if they even know "Yelp" exists. They have a Facebook, but no Twitter. And having no Twitter is such a killer. More people during Pacers games, which are more and more being frequented by 20-somethings and 30-somethings, are using Twitter during Pacers game during timeouts to check on news within the game and to see reaction of fellow fans. The Pub not having a Twitter is a missed opportunity to tweet out numerous specials on drinks, Karaoke Night, or what have you. How cool would it be to see a tweet from them during a Pacer game saying, "If the Pacers score 90 points, show your game ticket for $2 Miller Lites or $3 Captain and Cokes", or anything related to that?" Again, it just feels like a missed opportunity on their part. Other than that, it's a fantastic bar to go to with your buddies either before or after a game that gives off a nice, relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy yourself and watch some other ballgames. read more

I've been to The Pub on more than one occasion *even before I lived right above it* and i found it to be quite a solid deal. I tried the pub first when I started going to Howl At The Moon with my buddy Steve. It was right next door and we figured "Ah what the hell" and we gave it a try. It seems The Pub is actually one of the only Indy themed restaurants in the city. There are posters of Colts players and Pacers logos as well as Indy 500 memorabilia. This is the kind of place you'd take someone who was visiting Indy. For my first meal, I had a cheeseburger... I know what you're thinking "Real original Malcak". But stick with me. Anyway, So I had the burger and I about passed out from the awesomeness. It's almost as good as the burgers over at Big City. If I didn't like them I wouldn't be coming back all the time. The staff is really cool and very knowledgeable about the mixed drinks they serve. Go and eat. If I'm wrong I'll buy your next meal. Seriously..... read more

I like The Pub. That being said, it's nothing fancy and gets really smoky later in the night. I've avoided it for a while for that reason alone - my lungs are getting too old for that! If you end up at a Pacer's game this winter, I recommend leaving around halftime and heading to The Pub. It's just across the street from the fieldhouse's main entrance and you can watch the game on tv in there usually. The Pub typically has a few good beer specials and I've never had a problem with the service. There are a couple really large tables that seat about 8, so if you're with a group, The Pub is a good choice. read more

This is a great place to watch a game. The back of the bar has a huge screen with a pool table and plenty of standing and sitting room. The front of the bar has plenty of tvs too. I've been here twice in the span of a month and was able to grab a table for large groups both times. The fried pickles are sooooo good. Nachos were decent. We also had the quesadilla, but I would NOT recommend it. Regardless of the not so great quesadilla, we will be coming back! read more

The Pub was a stop on a night out recently, and I ended up feeling pretty neutral about it. Drinks weren't expensive. But they weren't the cheapest ever. We didn't try the food. But the menu appeared to have pretty standard bar food. Our waitress was going drink for drink with us, but she did a good job. The location is fairly hard to beat, and it was convenient for all involved that night. I wouldn't need to go back, but there are worse things that could happen to me. The Pub Indy is a great place to start your night downtown. It has been my downtown hangout for a few years. Food is above the standard "pub" style eats. It might be weird but the Pub has an app called "M80's": A cone filled with large shrimp, coated in a spicy coating, on a bed of coleslaw. The secret is that on Thursday's they have half-priced drinks. Any drink, shot, or beer all half off. Can't beat the deal downtown. read more

We came on game day for both the Pacers and IU. It was definitely packed, however one of the bar tenders was able to greet us and get our order in fairly quickly. My only complaint is that the food was pretty over done. The chicken tenders were way dry and the tenderloin sandwich had a slice of cheese that covered a quarter of it. The fries were delicious though! I don't know that we will be back, but it was some place to grab a bite before the games actually started. I have been to the pub several times and had good experiences, but after tonight I will never go there again! Granted it was very busy. My husband stood at the bar for 10 minutes without even a look his way, by any of the 3 bartenders! I then tried to get us drinks since he wasn't having any luck! I stood next to a gentleman at the bar who said he had been at a table for awhile and no waitress came by, so he went to the bar. He said he had waited at the bar for over 5 minutes. We both continued to stand there while the 3 bartenders argued at the register for several minutes! No one was being served, apparently the bartenders were more concerned with their personal issues than their customers! I finally spoke up and was cussed out by a female bartender who told me to go somewhere else if I didn't like the wait! Obviously customer service is not a priority to them! I wouldn't give any stars if that was an option! Do not go to the pub if you want any kind of service! read more

One of my favorites in Indianapolis. We have come here a few times, and went last night right before the Pacer's game. It's somewhat your stereotypical sports pub, however the prices and location cannot be beat. You can get large beers for $5, pretty good food, and when the bar is literally across the street from the stadium you cannot complain. Their mac and cheese bites are delicious, and stopping here for a quick beer or two will always get you in the mood for the game, since the place is full of sports fans. They have a bloody mary bar on Sundays, and also offer lots of specials throughout the week. read more

This place is great! Went for the before the Bulls Pacers game 3/3/13. I had a group of 55 people so we set up a pre-game buffet. Everything was ready when we got there and they set up a section reserved for us. The staff was very nice and provided great service. The food and drinks were great as well. They gave us plenty of food and were friendly even though we were all Bulls fans. I recommend the place before the game or just for food and drinks anytime. They gave us a great deal for the buffet and it was worth it. Next time I am in Indy I definitely plan to go. Thank you Gordon and your staff!!!! read more
