It was incredibly empty when we got there (?!) Our party was in a side back room, also plenty of tables and space. Our server Lexani was awesome, friendly and great with drink and food orders. Tom's Watch Bar is a textbook example of management undermining an otherwise hardworking staff. Every employee we interacted with was friendly, professional, and clearly doing everything possible to compensate for decisions well above their pay grade. They deserve credit, because they were the only reason the experience wasn't a complete disaster. The restaurant itself felt surprisingly sterile and devoid of personality. More importantly, on what should have been one of the busiest nights of the year during Gen Con, a significant portion of the restaurant sat empty because there simply wasn't enough staff to seat and serve people efficiently. That isn't a demand problem; it's a management problem. Plenty of people want to work. They just don't want to work for employers who create these conditions. The lack of awareness of the customer base was equally baffling. Indianapolis has an outstanding local craft beer scene, yet one of the area's most recognizable breweries wasn't represented at all. Instead, the focus seemed to be on pushing a generic sports bar experience with an uninspired beer list that was missing numerous selections they claimed to carry. Running out of that many offerings on one of the biggest weekends of the year is poor planning. This venue seems designed to maximize alcohol sales during sporting events rather than create a destination worth visiting. That's a valid business model, but if you're going to market yourself as a premier sports bar in downtown Indianapolis, especially during one of the largest gaming conventions in the world, you need to understand your audience and execute accordingly. Easy orders. Our food didn't arrive until 2pm! And it wasn't even right. My burger said it came with lettuce, onion, and tomato. The tomato was missing. It was also plated dry, but there were no condiments on the table. My son had ordered regular fries, but had received loaded fries. They conceded that we ordered regular and took it off the bill, so that could have been ok. But the loaded fries were cold and congealed. Our drinks were never refilled either--just a water and diet soda. Nothing fancy. Again, the place was half empty. This wasn't a rush. A bunch of us are in town for a conference and were here on Sunday and Monday afternoon. The place is awesome. Great place to watch games with TV's outside and inside. The reason the issues described above are so troubling is that these menu items are standard fare at any sports themed restaurant. For example, chicken tenders are not an artisanal dish. If bad vibes were a management style, Nate would be Employee of the Month. Came to watch the game, have a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere. Instead we got a live demonstration of how someone can be both a manager and completely allergic to managing. Nate approached our table like we had just personally asked him to work a double. Every question we asked was met with the same expression people make when their phone battery hits 1%. Asked if the TV could be switched to the game. Nate stared at the remote like it was a cursed artifact he legally wasn't allowed to touch. At one point he said, "I'll handle it." I'm gonna have to say that the tater tots stole the show. We went in during the World Series game to watch the game. It was pretty crowded, but the bar is really big. There are TVs on every single side of every wall. There's plenty of room at the bar And plenty of tables. There's also a section in the back but I've never been to it. Service was really nice. There is a parking garage right next to the bar. We were there for a couple of hours and it was $20 to park. I think if you're there up to an hour it's $10. Make sure you keep the ticket in your car. Otherwise you may have to pay $60 lol. The chicken tenders were delicious. I feel like you get your bang for your buck-the tenders are big and you get 5-6. The tater tots though...absolutely fire They were crispy, fresh, and soft on the inside. It's my favorite thing to get. I will probably only eat tater tots from now on and I don't even eat tater tots if that helps. The first thing you notice when you walk in is that there are screens everywhere! Every seat is a good one when you're going to watch your favorite team play. The food was absolutely delicious and there is such a wide variety of dishes to try. The nachos are my favorite so far. The staff were so attentive, without being overbearing. The waitress incorrectly rung us up and charged us in overages on drinks. we put our names in for a table and literally never got a text as we were watching tables get cleared so doesn't seem like the host (who was extremely rude and unpleasant) actually put our names in. not to mention the company that does "bar crawls" is a scam. will not be coming back or recommending this place. read more
