The Indy Wing Club (IWC) was out making their second trip Ol since inception and our goal initially is to hit bars that maybe we haven't heard of, so we can build up an overall application of what Indianapolis has to offer with their wings. We ordered 4 different wings flavors and each order comes with 6 wings. The wings had decent meat on them and were cooked well, so no disgusting loose skin and pink middles that you get sometimes elsewhere. The four flavors were Garlic Parmesan, Garlic Teriyaki, Hot Garlic, and then the waitress' recommendation Atomic Fireball mixed with sweet chili. They brought us both ranch and blue cheese and despite how the lighting appears in my pictures, these wings looked great. The Garlic Parmesan was in a garlic butter with Parmesan loaded on top, the garlic Teriyaki had that traditional teriyaki zing with some light garlic flavor, the hot garlic was the right amount of spice accompanied by a strong garlic flavor, and the Atomic Fireball x Sweet Chili wings are fried and tossed into the two sauces before being thrown in the oven to caramelize the wings slightly. All of the wins were great, but to rank them: 1. Hot Garlic 2. Atomic Fireball x Sweet Chili 3. Garlic Teriyaki 4. Parmesan Garlic Lastly the drinks are cheap and we all left satisfied without feeling like we broke the bank. Happy yelping!

A local neighborhood bar with great pub grub, daily drink specials, TVs, a jukebox and a few games/pulltabs. My honey and I met for a quick lunch. My beer battered cod was hot and flaky. His tenderloin was huge and had a cajun seasoning unlike any other I've tasted. The atmosphere nothing fancy, but I enjoyed being able to have a conversation without feeling crowded. We made the mistake of sitting near the door and froze every time someone came in. I don't know if they have other activities through the week, but there was a disco ball hanging from the ceiling. This is the spot to be before seeing a show at Birdy's to avoid their inflated drink prices. The restroom is small, but clean. Easy to get to, just off of 71st & Keystone.

small pub but surprisingly serves good food. their breaded tenderloin is one of the better ones i've had, though not the biggest, it's got good flavor. their atomic fireball and cajun dry rub wings are pretty tasty. fish and chips has excellent crispy beer batter and served with reallly good tartar sauce. the few times we've gone there, they even have specials though we havent tried any of them.

Ashley is the best! She makes everyone feel at home and the prices are very fair compared to most Indy bars. 10/10

They had the door open, which was letting in the fresh almost-spring air.) Drinks are pretty much all they have at Snug, to be honest. Don't visit thinking you're going to find a meal, because they don't have a lot of food beyond locally made hand pies and empanadas, a grazing board, and something called Snug Nuts. (Which brings to mind certain ... images.) I didn't get any food, just a Road & Coke, which is a whiskey with a Coke and lime, similar to a Cuba libre, although a Cuba uses rum. It was delicious, but a little light on the booze. It was only $5 and change, though, so it's kind of like what do you expect, really. It was a nice drink to sip slowly while I sat in the small, cozy bar. Speaking of bar aesthetics: Snug lives up to its name. It's tiny and dark but inviting. It feels like stepping into a hug. A hug that can also provide you with copious amounts of Irish whiskey, which sounds like the best kind of hug, to me.

Small, little, somewhat burnt, STEAMING HOT, not-so-buttery and not-so-cajun-ish corn on the cobs. Next we have the chicken. I would've rather grown a chicken, killed it for some wings, made a hat with its feathers and made sensory toys with its eyes The buns were probably the best part. The lettuce was cut smaller than you could ever imagine, the chicken had a good amount but tasted like it was drowned in Franks Red Hot Sauce. The tomato was a tomato This isn't all the restaurant though. The other times I visited here were AMAZING The times I sat in the big room were good because, there were TVs to save my boredom, the built in chargers were neat, and the food was just better! The AVG is definitely a neighborhood tavern. It's cozy and very laid back with high top tables. I ordered an Old Fashioned but mixed drinks weren't really on offer unless it was something like rum and coke. I had a beer. It was fine. We were there for about an hour and a half. I would definitely return. The vibes were slow paced. We moved on to The Checkered Flag. Wowza!! It was a Thursday night but the place was hopping. We were joined by another friend with plans to have a bite to eat. The menu is unbelievable. So much to choose from. We were kind of boring because 3 of us chose the same thing and the other two chose the same item. Two had the pork tenderloin. Both agreed it was excellent. Three of us had the BBQ Pork spud. It's a giant baked potato with butter, a good spread of pimento cheese, moist pulled pork, BBQ sauce, coleslaw and green onions. It was fantastic. Normally the pork can become a bit dry. This was not the case. Cooked perfectly. I was able to order the Old Fashioned. They apologized because they were out of oranges but I was fine. It was a very good drink. There happened to be two musicians performing. I was quite impressed. This tavern was very very impressive. We all agreed to return Our final stop was Herrmann. It's a small brewery tucked away off a quiet street. We were offered several tastings of the beers on offer. We were all able to find something to our liking. I had a porter. There are tables for four spread around the seating area. It's comfortable and definitely a neighborhood haunt. All three places were definitely neighborhood taverns. The Checkered Flag was hands down the best! Indy has so much to offer!
