Yal! Had some random fun here after a brunch with a friend. He's a conversationalist, so in true fashion we ended up conversing with a couple that was visiting from Ohio for a concert. Some of THE best tasting gin that I've had. I purchased a bottle that day. Delicious. Anything with lemongrass I feel I need. Haha Our bartender was attentive, engaged in convo and was respectful. Smaller distillery located in the Fountain Square neighborhood of Indy. Solid selection of spirits that they make in house as well as cocktails. When you walk in, the place (at least the immediate area you see) has the vibe of more of a cocktail lounge or cozy neighborhood bar. The service was great - I had a great time drinking and hanging with the bartender and other patrons (Casey and James). I had just finished dinner across the way and wasn't ready to head back to my hotel yet (tourist visiting for the weekend). Came here to grab a pour of their whiskey. Ended up ordering the peated bourbon, which I thought was tasty and not overly peated or too strong of peat flavor. What I thought was a quick drink, turned into hanging out with the folks here talking about football mainly. There are TVs here so college football was on as well. Having a drink here and meeting the folks here will be one of my more fond memories of this Indy trip. read more

In our recent weekend trip to Indianapolis, we stopped at some amazing places. Four Finger Distillery was no exception. Honestly, it made me a little sad there isn't a place like this near our home back here in Milwaukee (although that would also be dangerous). It was quiet there on a Saturday early afternoon when we went. The bartender was really nice and spent a fair amount of time talking to us. Not a lot of patrons, but a nice couple came in later and we chatted with them too. We did a flight of spirits and had a couple drinks too. Their stuff is really really good. Their absinthes, rye whiskey, and wheated bourbon were all standouts that we purchased to bring home. The pizza and stuffed breadsticks were phenomenal. Absolutely loved this place and can't wait to get back one day. read more

During the winter break, we initially wanted to drive out to Kentucky for a bourbon tasting trip but figured we just spend more time Indy. Four finger distillery satisfied my itch to taste different types of bourbons without having to drive 6 hours back n forth from Indy. Of course you can't compare the heavy hitters in the bourbon industry to a mom & pop distillery but 4 fingers got the job done for me (esp for quarter of a price). I tried the peated bourbon, straight bourbon, wheat whiskey, old fashioned & a cold brew liqueur for good measure. All of them were great but I ordered another round with lavender absinthe and that turned out to a surprise hit. If you're ever in town, try their bourbon, their absinthe, their cocktails heck try their gin. Play a little exploding kittens, have a great time. read more

Met a friend for drinks here on Thursday night and was super impressed! We found a high top to crash at and scanned a QR code on the table for the menu. Everything was was Halloween themed for the season. The drinks were AWESOME. Highly recommend Black Magic if you like bourbon. Sorcery was also very good. While we didn't eat, 1205 is connected to a Greek's Pizza, so you can order food if you want and they'll bring it out to you. The ambiance is great. They played excellent music and it smelled 100% like a distillery (similar to West Fork Whiskey). The staff were friendly as well. We'll definitely be back. read more

I came here to watch a college football game and try their fall cocktails before the rotate them off the menu. The cocktails were all great. Very unique flavors. Nothing was anything that you could easily make at home, so it's very worth it to come in. The "crimson which was particularly good." It was a bourbon cocktail with cab sav wine. A VERY good and unique combo of flavors. Tangy, sweet, and with that bourbon "bite." It's a very cozy atmosphere to watch a game. There plenty of room. Also you can get pizza and appetizers from Greek's Pizza, which is in the same building. This place has parking nearby, is between two IndyGo Redline stops (Fletcher Place and Fountain Square), and it's right off the cultural bike trail. Finally it's in a very walkable area. Definitely a great place to try. Lots of unique cocktails. Good spirits that they make in house. Great food onsite. And it's a BIT cheaper than other cocktails in the area. Such a fun and quirky spot! I came here on a Tuesday night with a friend and we walked in on trivia night! I loved the ambiance inside but I will say it was a bit confusing at first to figure out where we needed to order our food. Service was good but I will say I was a bit disappointed with the food. I ordered a small pizza (8 small slices) and added my own toppings and my total came out to about $24. A bit pricey and I will say the pizza was good but they had forgotten to add the mushrooms I had requested. However, the trivia itself was fun and the drinks looked really good so I definitely will be back! read more

The whisky and absinthe are smooth. I was surprised at how much I liked their bourbon and related products.

This bar is always a place we find ourselves on a Saturday at noon. It has a large wooden wrap around bar and lots of board games to play. They make a good cocktail and if the absinthe drip is working - an "experience" cocktail. They are connected to Greek pizzeria so you can order food and enjoy from there. I would recommend the Sazerac as it comes in a fun rolly glass. read more

1205 is one of my favorite distilleries! It's small, and you feel almost like you're in someone's small home or garage. It's super casual, relaxed and the bartenders are easygoing. There's about three tables at the front and a small sofa in the back. The rest is standing room. We (most recently) came by on a Thursday night and they had a really great-sounding $4 cocktail that had whiskey, vanilla and bitters. I went for the Giggle Water and it was SO good. Honestly any cocktail they make here is always great, so you barely have to choose. Trust the bartenders to whip up one of their classics. The cups are fun, as they have rounded bottoms and roll around on the table without your drink spilling. They also sell bottles of their liquors. There's a lot of good food in the area, such as Repeal (mid-priced) next door, Bluebeard (nice, pricier choice) across the street, and Tortas Guicho Dominguez (low cost, sandwiches) across the street as well. 1205 distillery has such a dope vibe about it. When you walk in you can sit at some tables or now at the bar, yay. They also have a nice lounge area with couches and chairs, super fancy. There is no servers so you go to the bar and order but they'll definitely bring you what you ordered. The bartenders are really helpful and attentive. I would recommend trying their $8 flight that way you can taste 5 of their in house liquors. I've tried them all at this point and let's just say I'm a whiskey/bourbon kind of girl but their rhubarb is pretty tasty. If you would like some food Greeks pizzeria is connected so you order at the bar and they'll bring it over for you. My brother got the Buffalo wings he said the sauce is really good. Ok so the distillery​ and tasting room are really small, this isn't a "bring a group or friend for some drinks and a party" kind of spot. This is a stop in and have some amazing craft cocktails kinds joint. At least that is what it is for me. I'm sure they wouldn't​ turn away business but its generally more of a relaxed feel. The staff here are top notch with making drinks and great conversations! The most important thing here is the booze right! They have the best infused Gin in Indiana hands down!! it is amazing!! How have I not reviewed this Fletcher Place neighborhood gem? I've been a fan and supporter from Day One - - it certainly didn't hurt that 12.05 Distillery and Repeal Restaurant were located in my backyard... There's a certain coziness and laid back vibe about 12.05 Distillery that reminds me of my hometown - - and moonshine by the bonfire. Brad and Nolan are probably the biggest reason I feel this way. Early on they felt like longtime friends and 12.05 felt like an extension of their home. Their warm customer service pours throughout the entire experience from tastings and tours to cocktails and storytelling. In terms of cocktails, you'll find a mix of in-house creations and classics available. The menu changes from time to time so you can count on trying something new with each visit. Or, if you're feeling crazy, they can make something new up on the spot. If your new to the product, I highly recommend experiencing the flight tasting and don't miss the rhubarb liqueur when you're making the spirit selections (it's super delicious). Cherry on top for visiting 12.05 Distillery? It's within a stone's throw of so many other great Fletcher Place businesses like Bluebeard, Nicey Popsicles, the Cultural Trail and Bluebeard. Very cool, hole in the wall, chill bar. All drinks are like only $7 and just a nice place to chill and talk with a friend. Seated right next to hotel tango, it was the perfect stop as we wanted to have a little happy hour before attending an event. Also they have some awesome glasses. Indy has so many great local eats and drinks! 1205 is no exception! I've had their stuff before at different locations and even purchasing it. But had not had the chance to come try it until now. On one side they have the bar repeal, which is cool in its own right, but little did I know they have a bar on the other side where the stills are! It's a cozy location but still lots of places to sit, I went to the bar and grabbed a seat. Looking at their menu they stick with gin, vodka, bourbon, rum and a rhubarb liquor. I also loved the saved by the bell summer themed cocktails, I had the giggle water which was refreshing and made with vodka, and then the chicken Parker that was made with gin plus lavender bitters. It appears business is good, there was a steady stream of customers in and out. There's also a fun place to hang out in the back that's a "speakeasy" style set up. We went for their Tiki Party on Sat 2/9/19. The place is arranged strangely, with a small bar and some random places to sit on stools in the front, a working space with stills in the middle of this narrow joint, and then more random low seating in the back including a couch. We found a place shoved up against the wall in the front on the backside of what I will describe as a display case. There seemed to be regulars or at least friends of employees there. I had made it clear to the servers that we'd not been there before. All we had to go off of was the 5-6 drink specials menu on the counter for the party. It wasn't so busy that they couldn't have given us a brief run down. Instead, we got the ol' "What'll you have?". After placing our order of 2 Painkillers, though neither of us were big rum fans, we saw others ordering off a regular drink menu. A chalkboard drink menu was up high and behind us such that we didn't see *that* until we were leaving. We would have liked to have tried their bourbon instead. Oh well. Our drinks were good but came out one at a time, with another couple's order served in between. The first to arrive was a few sips shorter and had clearly been the last of its batch. We needed food as none was available there. So we asked for the bill. It came with 3 drinks, instead of 2. My friend went to inquire and waited and waited. Finally I joined at the bar to wait some more. The bartender who worked on it never did turn around to address us. Instead the server indicated that they had some problem taking the extra drink off the bill, so both were on the house and to come back sometime. Fair enough, we thought, until my friend texted the next day that they went ahead and ran the charge for the 3 drinks. After seeing all the great reviews here after the fact, I might be back to get a better idea of what they have to offer. I found out about the party on Do317 but it felt more like we crashed it. For about the price of a beer anywhere else, you can get a masterfully crafted cocktail at the 1205 Distillery. From downright boozy to delightfully refreshing you're sure to find a new favorite drink. I don't know a lot about spirits and I'm not too fussy when it comes to beverages but navigating my way through these cocktails was a genuine delight. I don't have a decent bar at home, so it's a little adventure to read through their menu (though I don't know what tf most of this stuff is). Stop number 2 on my party bus tour and I had SO much fun here! This is a cool and small little space right next to Repeal, and the owners made us feel so welcomed. It wasn't crazy busy or crowded (shocking again to me, on a Saturday) but that just made it even more fun for us! They have a nice flight selection and pricing is super cheap. I don't drink lots of hard liquor but the drinks here were fun and creative. Oh, and the shot "ski" thing was hilarious! (You'll have to go in and check it out to see what I'm talking about). What a great place! Co-owner Nolan and the bar manager (sorry, we forgot his name) were incredibly welcoming and offered great information and stories about the distillery and their products. The tour was very informative, but the drinking afterwards was the star. These guys definitely know what they're doing. I got a flight of 5 of their offerings, and later finagled tastes of a few more. Everything was top notch. Cocktails are creative and taste awesome, and priced very well considering the high quality. My only concern is that they don't ship. Good thing I bought a few bottles to put in my suitcase. Hope we make it back. read more

Wow! Nolan and Brad are the nicest people and the owners of this establishment. You can really see the love they put into making the spirits they sell and also for the customers that come to visit. They make their customers feel like they have been old friends instead of recent acquaintances. The spirits they make and sell on the premises are vodka, gin, rhubarb liqueur, whiskey, wheat whiskey and corn whiskey. The cocktails are prepared with care and are perfectly served. After a delicious meal in Fletcher Place, my friend and I wanted just a small nightcap to round out our night, and decided to pop over to 12.05 Distillery. Located adjacent to Repeal, it is the perfect intimate space to catch up with a friend and wrap up a great day. The place is small, but it never feels cramped. As you enter on the left is a bar with several industrial-chic barstools, and on the right is a booth and some chairs. Further back are stainless-steel stills and tanks where the drinks are brewed, right before your very eyes! We sidled up to the bar and asked what was good. The bartender was knowledgeable and suggested several cocktails, but -- Kentucky girl that I am -- I decided on their bourbon, on one rock. He compared it to a Woodford Reserve, saying that it was aged only about 26 months (whereas a Woodford is usually aged for about 87 months). It tasted less sweet that a Woodford, but without the bite that comes with something like an Eagle Rare or Buffalo Trace. The verdict? I'm a fan! I imagine as word gets out about the new tasting room/cocktail area, having hour+ chats with Brad and Nolan (owners and distillers) while sipping cocktails won't be as common as it is now. Their new location is attached to, but separate from, Repeal. I've been a big fan of 12.05 spirits for quite some time! I believe they've been producing spirits for about 3 years, and I was just waiting for this moment. Just look for the 636 above the door on Virginia Ave. or the barrel outside on the sidewalk (as long as the neighborhood doesn't make them move it!). The tasting room itself is somewhat small, but if you like intimate experiences, this place is for you. Once you start looking around, you find all kinds of interesting things! For example, the flag on the ceiling belonged to Brad's great grandfather during Prohibition so only has 48 stars. There's a trap door on the floor under the barstools that leads down to where the barrels of aging spirits are stored. 12.05 carries and distills a wide variety of whiskeys in addition to vodka/gin/rhubarb liqueur. Normally I'm not a whiskey drinker, but since I'm from Indiana, I think it was meant to be after sampling most of their offerings. They have a rye whiskey, a wheat whiskey, The Barreled Reporter (so complex!), a corn whiskey, and the newest addition - bourbon. My husband said the bourbon was one of the best he's had! While sitting at the bar, you can sample any of the spirits if you want that pure taste before having one of many interesting cocktails. And you know what? Brad and Nolan make cocktails that you can easily recreate at home and are happy to provide the recipes. I even asked for a creation using their rhubarb liqueur (so yummy!) since the one on the menu used ginger beer, and I'm not a fan of ginger beer. Brad came up with a great alternative! Another great thing? All the drinks are reasonably priced. They also offer bottle sales on Sunday. The cocktails are named after terms used during prohibition. Trigger Man is just bourbon, but I love that they gave it its own name! If you try one drink, get the Bum's Rush - a chocolate Old Fashioned with the Barreled Reporter. They use fun glassware that has a bottom that rotates, making you think the glass will tip over, but it doesn't! I think between the 2 of us, my husband and I tried nearly every offering on the menu, but we'll be back to get the rest! So, before I went to the 1205 I heard nothing but great things, I follow the place on Instagram, and I remember one of my Yelp Elite events 1205 was there which I still have my free flight card. Well, I was walking in that area Sept. Friday 13th it was a chilly night, and yet a full moon on the 13th. I ended up going to distillery around 10ish that night. It was only a small crowd of us in there, the place used to be a bank back in the 1920s. There's, so much history at 1205, the building, and of course Fountain Square in general. I remember on TV at 1205 was showing Friday 13th, I had two delicious drinks, slightly strong, and the drinks I had were called Machete without the marshmallows on top since I'm not a fan of marshmallows. If, you're into some good ol Bourbon, or Whiskey this place is for you. However, the bartender does make mixed drinks with some unique names to them. My first night there on Friday 13th the bartender name was Brian he did a fabulous job fixing my drinks along with other people drinks. Next, door is a restaurant called Repeal which I'll have to go there one day. All, in all good place, good vibes, and great drinks! If you want a lot of info, read my friend Libby B's review. There's a lot of cool stuff on her write up. I also had a great time with one of my buddies at 12.05. We found free street parking on Virginia Avenue and on College. We met for lunch at Repeal (next door to 12.05 and owned by the parents of Nolan, the owner of 12.05). After lunch, we headed next door to 12.05 for our scheduled tour/tasting. Their website makes it very easy to schedule on Thursday through Sunday. There is a $5 charge for the tour/tasting, but they are cool enough to apply that charge against any purchase of cocktails or bottles of spirits you decide to pick up after tasting. (Note that you can ONLY tour by appointment. However, you can make a purchase during their normal hours without having to schedule a tour.) The tour itself is brief since the space is small, but efficiently organized. I was impressed that they were able to answer very technical questions as well as speak in familiar terms when our questions weren't so detailed; i.e. they didn't make me feel dumb for asking the question! :) As for the spirits, I am a novice at hard liquors, so I really liked the Rhubarb Liqueur (40 proof) with a great balance of tart and sweet without a strong kick. I also enjoyed the New American Gin which is less piney than a lot of gins on the market. They have recipes for cocktails on their website (including a Garden Daiquiri that combines the gin and liqueur with lime juice and simple syrup.) When spirits can pass the taste test without all the cocktail additions, you know you are dealing with quality. So good, that I bought a bottle of each! Small, cozy, and down to earth. 12.05 distillery is quickly becoming one of my favorites. You can see the gorgeous copper still from the tasting room area. Their cocktails are reasonably priced, and so are the bottles. Get to know the founder / distiller, he has a really interesting story. Brad Colver is working hard to unite the distilling community in Indiana, and is working towards better legislation for Hoosier distillers. My go-tos here are the vodka, gin, and rhubarb liqueur. read more
