A friend and I made a reservation for a "fast six tasting". They had already set up a spot at the bar and had iced waters waiting, which was a nice touch. We didn't really know what to expect, but you essentially choose sixes wines each from their list. Unfortunately, they were out of 2/3rds of red wines. They had 12 wines left, so each of us took six, deciding we would share and try everything they had to offer. We noticed that any of the sweet offerings were from Oliver winery, and they confirmed they don't have sweet wines at Foyt. After trying them all slowly with a charcuterie board and conversation, over a period of 90 minutes, there were only 2 wines that I liked, and only 1 of them that I would ever order a glass of. This experience was fine, and the place is nice, but considering it is a tasting, I expected to learn about the wines. No information was shared with us when we made our selections. Lastly, we noticed there were two other groups at the bar, each of them with a different tasting set ups. They had large glasses in a row with all their options in front of them, but we were given a mini glass that was refilled when we made new decisions. I'm not sure what the difference was. read more

We went in while visiting Indy and we were rudely told this is a country club environment only for members. We were not welcome. No apology just told we were not allowed to stay. Not even allowed to look at memorabilia. The open sign was lit up in entrance & unless we missed it did not see a sign on door stating members only. I came here to support a friend playing piano, and it also turned out to be the first hosted Ladies Night! The third Thursday of each month, they plan to host a Ladies Night with new appetizers and cocktails. They ended up doing a raffle at the end for a gift card for everyone who came out. The ambience here was very cozy and we really enjoyed the piano music and drinking wine with our friends. All of us loved our wine, from flights to glasses. We were also a fan of the peppermint white russian.. you MUST try it after you had your wine fix. The Tour Charcuterie board is $30, was surprised it didn't come with crackers but our table enjoyed. My favorite was the pimento cheese dip which is served with fresh bread and veggies. The bread is crispy, soft in the middle - we also got a separate bread basket which comes with that tasty bread and baguette toast, and three small spreads (honey butter, mustard, beer cheese). The garlic parmesean fries were a hit. Lastly, the BBQ pizza was just okay. There was a backup in the kitchen so it took a little bit longer to get our food, but management acknowledged this and said they are still working out some kinks (not sure if it had to do with the turnout or the new menu). It also took an unusually long time to get our check and to pay, one waitress didn't seem thrilled our party of 6 wasn't on 1 check and never came back. One different employee was walking around with a pad to all tables and checking everyone out, so obviously this took some time. Since we weren't in a rush, we were patient and didn't mind. The manager was walking around and talking to each table, making sure everyone got a raffle which helped with the wait. We were there on its opening night back in May 2016 and being the race fans that we are, it was a no-brainer to rent this cozy and charming place. The space was perfect and Katherine (Katie) was THE BEST! From the initial planning to the final weekend she was always available to us. After several meetings and many text messages, she helped us pull off a very memorable event. She handled all the catered food from selection to presentation. What a cool venue! My wife and I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty quiet. We sat in the bar area on the left (there is a larger seating and lounge area to the right). Before eating, I browsed some of the A J Foyt Memorabilia gathered along the walls and an actual race car over in the lounge area. I then tried a flight of the white wine samples: Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. You only get a small pour of each, but enough to get a few sips. I really liked the Riesling (my favorite of the three). Our lunch arrived and I got the BBQ Chicken Flatbread while my wife ordered a salad with an upgrade of chicken strips added. The salad was large and only loosely chopped, so she did need to cut it into smaller, more bite sized, pieces. They also brought her a couple types dressing on the side since they didn't have exactly what she wanted. She enjoyed her meal and there was enough for a to go box. My flatbread was about 8" x 12" cut into eighths. The BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy and the chicken was cubed, still moist, and warm. The flatbread was also topped with sliced red onion and cheese. Very good! I thought the crust had just the right amount of crunch and held its shape despite the toppings. Definitely recommended! Overall, we had a fun time and enjoyed our meals and the wine. Be sure to check their hours since they are somewhat restricted. Also, be aware that the space is sometimes reserved for private parties that you may not be aware of until you arrive. Had a fun experience at the opening of the Foyt Wine Vault during Indy 500 race week. The public was invited to participate in the ribbon cutting, which was done by AJ Foyt. The family is really investing a lot in Speedway, which makes me so happy, as a home grown Hoosier from Indianapolis, and big race fan. I'm familiar with Foyt Family Wines due to my work in the industry in Sonoma Valley. I was excited to hear that the Vault was opening during my recent visit to Indy. The facility is beautiful. I didn't know what to expect, and I was taken aback by the hardwood, amazing race memorabilia and genuineness of the family and staff. Don't be surprised if you run into co-owners and former racecar drivers Larry or Anthony Foyt! They're happy to sign bottles, too. I enjoyed their Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, but I'm bias being from Sonoma Valley. If you aren't into wine, you can enjoy a local beer on tap or in bottle. They also offer locally made cheese, charcuterie, and chocolate, the latter from the Best Chocolate In Town (and it is!). They are also open late, giving it a lounge feel. This was a great stop on a night before the race. It was a little loud because of the open environment, but that drowns out once you are among good friends and good drink. We found this little gem when a friend was visiting Indy for the Monumental marathon. After a celebratory dinner at Rick's we came over to the Foyt Wine Vault in Speedway, IN to share a couple bottles of vino. Such a surprise. Such a hidden gem. Hard to describe how enthused I am that this place is in Indianapolis. The wine is DRY, hallelujah!! Such a difficult thing to come bye in sweet wine country here in Indiana. The wine is not only dry, but it is exquisite. The grapes are sourced from Napa/Sonoma Valley in California, and the wine is great. I honestly feel like I am back in California tasting wine when I am here. To be blunt, this joint would probably make 10x the profit downtown or north side where more dry wine aficionados roam. I plead to more of you out there in Indy that overlook this place bc of location, owned by race car driver, etc. The meritage is my favorite varietal that they make, but their pinot noir, cab, and zin are stellar as well. Now - I know speedway might not seem like the most bustling place to hang outside of the Month of May but my how they're building this part of town up, and my how I love it! My office took us on a surprise trip around Indy one day and we stopped at Foyt's Wine Vault. (Disclaimer: I work for a Motorsports agency so we tend to like us some racing!) but regardless of the very evident connection to a sport we are all familiar with - this place was awesome! We got to be there for a quote on quote private event (really they just opened up a bit early for us but I digress....) The ambiance and decorations were just so great here and the TV and shuffle board make it than a normal wine establishment. I got the fight of red and absolutely loved the pivot and the cab. Wasn't wild about the blend - but the other two made up for it. But to the star of the day - the charcuterie! Holy heck was it delicious. Between the pickles, the cranberry sauce and all the delicious cheeses I was in heaven. I cannot wait to return. read more

Came here for wine and dessert April 28th near 6:30 pm during a much-needed outing with dear friends. I LOVE how this street is flourishing. This is one of several new places that have opened since I visited the area last year. The space is beautiful with the racing memorabilia and photos you would expect. The ambiance is suitable for: Girls Night Out, Date Night, taking out of town guests or just about any other reason you can think up. The service was friendly and attentive. After a round of flights, our party of three unexpectedly settled on the same glass of wine: a sparkling rose. Before the night was thru, one of our party had signed up for the quarterly wine program. Those truffles! Our original intention was to enjoy one each. If you haven't been to Speedway lately, you need to go. Main Street is changing rapidly (for the better!) and the Vault is another great, unexpectedly classy addition to the area. After unknowingly bumping into AJ on my way in and asking if he'd been here before...(smooth, Whit...Google him before you go, folks :) )...I settled in at one of the high-tops to wait for my friends. Meanwhile AJ brought out the wine list and made a little small talk while I waited. The place was moderately busy for a Thursday night, with around 7-8 separate parties, maybe 20 customers in total, 3 people, including AJ, helping to keep everyone happy. I started with the white wine flight and was pleasantly surprised - $8(?) for what appeared to be about a 2oz pour of sauv blanc, Chardonnay, and Riesling. All very drinkable with the proper varietal characteristics. Finished the evening there with an $11 glass of Viognier which was definitely my favorite. FYI: they can re-cork if you decide to buy a bottle, but for whatever reason, can't finish it. I've never had that problem... All in all, a great place for a girls' night out, date night, place to take your parents, or any wine-loving race fan. You can tell AJ takes a lot of pride in the business and that makes a huge difference in the customer experience (and wine quality!). What a cool, awesome place. Two of the things I love are wine and open wheel racing. And here it's both. Not trying food so I'm only rating on the wine and the place itself. The host Megan is very gracious and friendly. The interior design is beautiful with a actual AJ indycar inside. Very cool. The wines are outstanding. A 3 red flight is $10. A 3 red reserve flight is $20. They also have beers and a few cocktails for you not in the mood for wine!?!?!?!? They also have white wines and a rose that was pretty good. Lots of options by the glass. The most expensive glass of Cab is $21 but most glasses are 8-12. They have Ben open since last May. I should have visited sooner. Went again may 13th, shared the charcuterie plate with a friend, simply awesome, well put together, some thought went into the pairings of the flavors on the plate. The wines were as good as I remembered. The service was not great, but they were really busy after a busy track day. One thing that needs repaired is the check in 10% discount on Yelp that the bartender told me she couldn't accept because there is not a 10% discount button on their computer????? The servers allow you to try as many wines as you want until you find your favorite. I prefer the Riesling. They have live music and the feel of the whole place is very relaxed and welcoming. I have lived in Speedway since April and I am cursing myself for not checking this place out already. We tried the baked goat cheese, cheeseboard, wine flight, and truffle flight. The baked goat cheese is absolutely delicious and perfect to pair with your wine flight. The truffle dessert pairing is so unique and is literally the most perfect dessert. Did not eat or drink here. The staff is awesome though. I bought a nice bottle of bourbon in Kentucky and forgot that I now needed to check my bag flying home. One problem, no wine bottle travel bubble bag (wineskin). Spent all afternoon looking/calling around Indianapolis for and all the liquor/wine stores have no idea what I was asking for. This review is for this business as a place to host events. I have not been here just as a customer, and it has been great for all the events I've attended here. We met friends here one evening for a meal served by Rolling in the Dough and enjoyed a good meal in a nice setting. We were here for another group event hosted by friends who are members and again had a great time. The same friends also hosted my baby shower here, with an outside food vendor, and we had a lovely time. There was another shower at the same time, and there was plenty of room for both groups to be comfortable. The most recent event was a fundraiser, and we again had a good time in a great space. Again, I've not been here just for a glass of wine as a customer, but, for an event space, I can totally recommend Foyt Wine Vault as a great option! read more

We have walked by this restaurant several times and finally stopped for a light dinner yesterday. My husband had the meatballs and said they were very good. I had the Italian sub with a tomato salad. The sub was very good, but the tomato salad was great. The tomatoes were ripe and flavorful in a light sauce. Fort Wayne vault is a very unique experience. You get great wine along with the taste of racing and the ambience of the building. One of my favorite things to order is the flights of wine because I can get a nice variety and taste of different wines. Would highly recommend going with friends for a glass, or two. read more

Great spot in Speedway. Their red wines were all very drinkable. I found the Meritage to be my favorite, followed by their Cabernet. We also tasted their Rose (made from Pinot Noir grapes) - which they serve on tap. First sip was off, but it got much better after that. Our bartender was very attentive and friendly, but admitted that she wasn't a wine connoisseur. She also didn't know about the Yelp check in deal, but still accommodated the discount for us. White flight of 3 was $8, red flight of 3 was $10, the red reserve (all cab) was $20. Glasses ranged from $5 and up. Most were around $10. We didn't try the cheese plates, but they carry Tulip Tree cheeses which are delicious. The venue is pretty new, about 1 year old. I'd definitely visit again in the summer to take advantage of their outdoor seating. They also had a decent beer list. read more

My boyfriend and I found this place doing a look through of what was in speedway. The people we met are really nice and it's kind of like being in a wine cellar with the decor and lighting. They have quite a few wines that I like and they make a wonderful Sangria. Another cool thing about this place is they have gowlers that you can refill of some of the wines there. We took the sangria home. It has wines by glass and bottle that are various prices. They don't have a lot of food and it's mainly appetizers as cheese plates. They also let us know they rent out various areas of the vault for a variety of events and recommended a wonderful cater. I will start by saying I love the layout of this place. They also have a good variety of drinks and food depending on what you are looking for. However, every time I've been here, the service has left a lot to be desired and caused me to leave earlier than I would have. I had a flight of wine and was planning on getting some food and another drink. But after the initial delivery of my flight, no one checked in with me for the next 45 minutes. This is my second review of Foyt Wine Vault. My previous review was 4 stars only because it was my first visit. Now, after several visits, I'm awarding the fifth star. Why? Because FWV started out great and has continued that way. The wine is very good and the service is incredibly excellent. JT is the guy behind the bar and he makes everyone feel like they are visiting with a good friend.
