Westside Pub on the corner of High School Road and Morris Street. Old Claude and Annie's and Sully's.
    Wanda M.

We met a group of old friends who used to work together here after work on Friday evening. If you've been here in the past when it was Claude & Annie's (early 80s), the layout hasn't changed. There is a large bar as soon as you enter, tall-top tables to the left end with several pool tables, dart boards, and a jukebox. Only one person was behind the bar, and no one was handling the floor. We ordered our drinks and appetizers at the bar. The bartender was exceptional handling not only the very large bar top, which was full but the orders from those sitting on the floor. The bar is a good spot to play pool or darts. Long ago, we used to play darts and pool here weekly. The jukebox covers many types of music, and patrons keep the music playing. The menu has your typical bar food, and the appetizers we ordered were tasty. I'm not sure why they didn't have a server to cover the floor, but servers are hard to come by now. It appears to be an after work kind of place. Have a cocktail, play a few games of darts or pool, or just visit with friends.

Chopped Steak with mushrooms on the side

My husband and I have been eagerly waiting for something to fill this spot again since Sully's closed it's doors. Well, it was worth the wait. The new owners did a great job cleaning up the place and making it more appealing. The water issues are gone. They've added a back smoker's patio so that people are not congregated at the front door. The removal of the overhead storage and cubby holes is great and it's been replaced with a LOT of televisions. If there is an important game, hopefully, they turn off the jukebox. That was one downside that I noticed. We'd be listening to the playoff game and then someone would play a song and the game sound would go away. We were there on a Sunday and the beer special was $6 pitchers of Bud Light. Not only do they chill there mugs, but also the pitchers so the beer is nice and cold. The menu is great. I can't wait to go back and try more things. We ordered the Cheese Logs as an appetizer and they were huge! They are homemade and the breading was great. I could only eat one. For dinner, we split the Chopped Steak. It as well was a very large portion. The steak was thick and incredible. Lots of gravy for both the steak and the mashed potatoes. Be sure to specify if you want onions. I thought that they were automatically included, but we did not receive any. It may have been because we ordered the mushrooms on the side. In summary, try this place out. Rob and Courtney were great behind the bar and the food is top notch. Enjoy!

Came all the way from Orlando to have a breaded tenderloin. Used Yelp and hit the jackpot! DELICIOUS! You won't be disappointed if you order the breaded tenderloin !

The chicken sandwich is great too.

The pizza was good, drinks ok. The bar area needs a different cleaning product to wipe the bar down. I didn't like the smell.

Chicken, with wings, drums, and tenders offered in several heat levels. I went with the Curry tenders (medium), and my husband chose the Hot Honey wings (also medium). Both delivered exactly the right amount of heat--noticeable but not overwhelming. The crunch factor was definitely there, and the chicken itself was moist and flavorful. Sides are ordered separately, so we added onion rings. They were large and looked great, though they were just okay for me. Portions, however, were huge. Our total was around $32, which felt a bit pricey, but the amount of food made up for it. Honestly, we could have shared one entrée if we ever agreed on the same thing. They do serve beer, milk teas, and smoothies too, but we took our order home and enjoyed our own drinks. The atmosphere inside is casual with a giant screen playing K‑Pop videos, which adds a fun vibe if you dine in. Overall, I liked it and would return--next time with fewer items or more people to help tackle those portions.

I looooove their tangerine tomato soup, falafel bowl, and taco bowl. Last week, I asked an employee which item on the menu is her favorite and she said the curry cauliflower bowl, so I ordered it. I CANNOT EXPLAIN how delicious it was. I got the tahini dressing and opted to add on pulled chicken for $5 and have not gone a day without thinking about it. The curry cauliflower bowl has: curry roasted cauliflower, golden raisins, cashews, pickled red onions, crispy chickpeas, and artisan lettuce blend. I know it sounds healthy and I don't care if you don't even like curry... you will LOVE THIS. I want it for every lunch for the rest of my life and I'm already planning my next visit to The AMP so I can get my hands on it. Order it. The only turmoil I now feel is the stress of wanting to try everything on the menu but not wanting to *not* order this bowl. Take one look at their menu and you'll be so impressed. I mean... they have an "everything bagel caesar" dressing. How delicious and creative is that? They have sandwiches, salads, warm bowls, soups, desserts, and more. Everything is colorful, fresh, and delicious. Thank you so much @Yamallama for being incredible. I saw that you now sell your bowls at Dream Palace Cafe too and I hope to see Yamallama meal options at many more coffee shops, stores, and cafes around town. I'll buy one every time I see one!!! PS: I just saw that they closed their second location in The Garage Food Hall and opened one across the street from The Children's Museum instead, so visit there or this AMP location.

The AVG is definitely a neighborhood tavern. It's cozy and very laid back with high top tables. I ordered an Old Fashioned but mixed drinks weren't really on offer unless it was something like rum and coke. I had a beer. It was fine. We were there for about an hour and a half. I would definitely return. The vibes were slow paced. We moved on to The Checkered Flag. Wowza!! It was a Thursday night but the place was hopping. We were joined by another friend with plans to have a bite to eat. The menu is unbelievable. So much to choose from. We were kind of boring because 3 of us chose the same thing and the other two chose the same item. Two had the pork tenderloin. Both agreed it was excellent. Three of us had the BBQ Pork spud. It's a giant baked potato with butter, a good spread of pimento cheese, moist pulled pork, BBQ sauce, coleslaw and green onions. It was fantastic. Normally the pork can become a bit dry. This was not the case. Cooked perfectly. I was able to order the Old Fashioned. They apologized because they were out of oranges but I was fine. It was a very good drink. There happened to be two musicians performing. I was quite impressed. This tavern was very very impressive. We all agreed to return Our final stop was Herrmann. It's a small brewery tucked away off a quiet street. We were offered several tastings of the beers on offer. We were all able to find something to our liking. I had a porter. There are tables for four spread around the seating area. It's comfortable and definitely a neighborhood haunt. All three places were definitely neighborhood taverns.
