Food was awesome. Stopped for lunch and had the double smash burger. Spot on and very good. Had onion rings with it. A few regulars watching a sports channel having drinks there. Only downer was that the volume was very loud for a sports talk show. It's not like it was busy and lots of people talking. Little uncomfortable. I will be back. Went with friends on a Taco Tuesday night! Bartender/server changed my tip from $2.50 to $10 on a $9.76 bill. While the owner is doing the right thing and refunding me $7.50, I hate the fact that in this day and age employees can steal and be defended by their employer who needs them so bad that theft is now allowed. The owner said it was an honest mistake. I'm sorry but entering 10.00 is not anything like 2.50. Not even close on the keypad. I can see maybe a 1 wasn't cleared out and 12.50 could have been entered but not 10 even. read more

The food was really good. Service was lacking. I ended up having to go to the bar to request my check and a box. She was to busy talking to the regulars at the bar to pay attention to the new person at the table. I was going to order dessert, but I was never even offered a refill on my soda so I decided not to bother. I was never even ask if my burger was good. I walked in on a Monday night after reading a few yelp reviews. I was waiting for my daughter and the bartender came over to serve me and I saw all the drink specials and got one of the domestics in bottles. I decided to wait to order anything more into my daughter got there a few minutes later. The environment was friendly down-home welcoming. Loved it! Then I got a cheeseburger and fries for 695 on a Monday. It was delicious and large. I forgot to take pictures! My daughter said this is a great place and she's been looking for somewhere to hang out and maybe play pool. Just a comfortable down home place it's really friendly and I will definitely be back! Fast, intuitive service and excellent food. Literally, within seconds of grabbing a table at the bar, I had a waitress, a drink and a menu. The prices, wow! An entire sirloin steak dinner is $13! (Includes Texas toast PLUS 2 sides- and the list of possible sides is exhaustively humongous.) Daily specials- 7 days a week, including weekends. Specials include food and drinks. It's a sports bar, with tvs and bar games (pool, darts, etc) but I rolled in as an introverted, sports- hating solitary female on the prowl for cheap eats and a strong drink, and I fit in perfectly. No drunks sloppily hit on me, the location is in a strip mall with plenty of parking right by the curb, so no worries about a sloppy drunk following me out to my car either, score! Decent local place that I took a few clients to for lunch. I opted for the beef gyro which, while it appeared to be made off premises, was still pretty flavorful. The meat was juicy enough and the pita was nicely toasted. I also had a side salad which was quite large although I should have asked what came on it since it arrived smothered in packaged shredded cheese. We got into town late and looked for a place still serving food at 10:00 on a Sunday. I'm so glad we found Joe's. The food was wonderful, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was great. Even though it's a spot full of regulars, they were warm and inviting to us out-of-towners. Hole in the wall that is a lot of fun with really good service from the wait staff and the bartender. They have 3 pool tables, a couple of dart boards, full bar service with draft beer and craft beer on tap! The restroom is Unisex and there are two sides of the bar when you walk in, juke box, plenty of seating and everyone was very friendly and dancing around having a good time. Whether you are trying to find something to do on a Saturday night and don't want to travel downtown from Castleton, you can swing in here and have a great time with friends. Tip your bartenders and make sure if D is the bartender you look out for him as he does it right and cares about his service! It has become a sort of Friday night tradition that after the long work week I head out in search of a first-time dining experience. Tonight, I was actually headed over to that "Happy Chicken" place on East 82nd Street in a sort of hidden strip center. I parked the car and entered this "Happy Chicken" place and it just didn't give me the vibe I was looking for - so I left. I wheeled the length of the strip center and heard music coming from this place, Joe's Grille, and thought "Hey, this could work." Yeah, it worked. I was greeted with warm enthusiasm by Tiffany, a server who was nearing the end of her shift. Joe's had a small but energetic crowd and it seemed to be made up mostly by regulars as they seemed familiar with one another based upon the conversations. There are several widescreen televisions on the walls throughout the relatively small bar and grill. There are two rooms, one with a main bar that also includes a few tables. It looked like the other room had more recreational type activities, but I didn't go in the room and can't be certain. If you're asocial, and I lean that direction, then you may take some time to adjust to the Joe's Grille environment. It's a very tight design, though the aisle between the tables and the bar is wheelchair friendly as long as it's not packed. I could see problems easily developing when the place is busy. As I wasn't drinking, I found my way to a table and Tiffany took my drink order of unsweetened tea. I checked out their multi-page menu that was largely comprised of sandwiches, all of which come with fries, tater tots or one other side. They had other items, but their menu isn't online that I can find. Essentially, it's the usual bar food variety. I saw a breaded tenderloin and thought I might discover another Indy gem. So, I ordered the tenderloin with fries for a surprisingly low $6.95. The entire meal came in at slightly under $10. The Joe's Grille atmosphere is weird and I mean that in a good way. Tiffany and the server who followed her, name unknown, were both a delight. The bar was loud, at one point with the televisions then by music. The patrons were being patrons, loud and clearly having a good time. Have you ever been to a bar where there's that one guy you get the sense is trying to be the coolest guy in the room and he's just plain failing miserably? That guy was at Joe's last night. I'm guessing he was in his 50's. He was talking way louder than needed, having off-kilter "conversations" and bouncing around like that old guy who desperately doesn't want to let go of his younger days. He felt the need to punctuate his language with a periodic F-bomb. I'd have been irritated if it wasn't just an awkward combo of sad and funny. I got used to him. The breaded tenderloin was pretty clearly not a hand-breaded tenderloin and its taste bordered on a slightly upscale fritter. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was hoping for when I ordered it. The fries were crinkle-cut. They were likely frozen, but they were served up in a decent serving size and I enjoyed them. For the price point, I was still pretty happy. As I noted, Tiffany was great. She was friendly, helpful and seemed amused that I asked if I could linger after she cashed me out before the end of her shift. I could picture her brain going "It's a bar. Everyone lingers, stupid!" Fortunately, she was nice about it. I was handed off to another server and even got a refill from her despite having paid my bill. That was excellent. I ended up tipping both. Yeah, sometimes I'm not a cheapskate. I enjoyed my time at Joe's Grille, though I doubt it's a place I'll rush back to visit. The service was very good, while the food was pretty much your standard bar fare. I'm guessing if you go to Joe's with friends, you'll have a much better time. However, despite the chaotic atmosphere, I was able to sit at my table and enjoy some reading and didn't feel bothered or distracted. For the service alone, I'd place Joe's above average. While I'm not quite willing to go with a 4-star, it's easily a 3-star experience with good service and decent food at a good price. read more

The crowd was decent and I did have fun but it was the company that was great, not the bar. I walked in, the security asked for my ID, no problem. We hung around the pool tables and every time we went to hit the ball, it seemed we just couldn't stay out of people's way, there was no room to even shoot! Luckily, my friend is a pro so it was no problem for him but we were so in the way. I also went to get a second drink with my friend and the bartender asked for my ID again. It was frustrating because my friend had just got there and she had to show it again, I walked away and said I just wouldn't get a drink. The bartender, who was the only one behind the bar, CAME ALL THE WAY TO THE POOL TABLE to ask for my ID again and said she needed it whether or not I was getting a drink because her boss wants her to do that. My other friend who was playing pool told me to go ahead and show her, or else he felt like we would've gotten kicked out. Drinks weren't even strong, I had long islands. Disappointed! Met some friends at Joe's Grille to watch the Butler vs Purdue game. Despite Butler's loss we had a great time! The staff at Joe's was extremely friendly and completely accommodating to our group. They offered specials, which was a welcomed surprise (being that most restaurants/bars don't offer too many specials on weekends). They also have TVs all over the establishment, to include a 150 inch screen right next to the bar. The food was wonderful and the drinks were great! Definitely recommend for your next meal, drinks with friends, game time viewing, or all the above! read more

Great local strip mall bar. Lots of tv's, like everywhere there's tv's. All the major sports packages - including NHL! Drinks are very reasonable and the pours are generous. Few drafts but they rotate regularly and always something appealing. Great bottle/can selection - the manager is very passionate about his craft beers and usually has a nice mix of seasonal and local. The food is good and there is alway's a good daily special. Would give 0 stars if I could. Walked in and told bar server whom was also waitressing that I had a anaphylactic seafood allergy. Asked if they used same friers for fries and tots that they used for seafood and was told yes. Was told that she would call owner to ask if they could waive the up charge fee of $2.50 so that I could get a different side due to allergy. She came back after talking to owner on the phone and told me that owner approved to replace with any other side, so I ordered a side salad to replace the fry/tot option. I also ordered a burger and waitress admitted when she brought it to the table that she never asked if I wanted cheese or not on it when I asked where the cheese was because cheese was already advertised on menu. And now for the bill after all these guarantees. I asked why I was charged for the salad when she told me I wouldn't be, she then argued with me that she never said side salad would be comped, but any of the other sides would be. I stated she said any of the other sides would be comped then she wanted to tell me that she never said that while starting to throw her head back and hands up, and demanded my card and that I pay my tab. She was very rude the whole time we were there for no reason from the minute we walked through the door. Joe's Grille is an absolute joke. If you'd like to have awful service, mediocre food, and a bar server/waitress that acts like a toddler than that would be the only exception for dining here. Receipt doesn't list server name, only says "AM B". Very disappointed as I wanted to try something new and enjoy supporting non chain restaurants, but this experience was awful, and lying to customers doesn't make a business have a good reputation. read more

This is a biker-friendly bar, but the crowd is eclectic - hipsters to rednecks to gangstas to yes, bikers... you will see it all. I've seen a couple bar fights break out here, but they've all been female catfights. You know that's entertaining. I agree with Jess that the selection of beer is not outstanding and the food takes too long, but it's a pretty comfortable atmosphere to sit around and drink your Coors Light. The food is above average for bar fare. D, the bartender with the dreaded-up mohawk and the "DIABLO" belt buckle (you can't miss him), is great and pours heavy if you're into that sort of thing. There's an open mike night on Wednesdays, which is hit-or-miss. If you go more than once, chances are you're going to hear the same songs played in the same rotation as the time before. read more

It's very sad when a patron comes in for the first time and gets treated like shit because of regular is treated like a God the bartender is more worried about losing business than running a good establishment that takes care of new customers I am very disappointed. I really wanted to like this place, but after finally ordering dinner here I am dumbfounded by how they have received so many stars. My guess is that they are from staff members or regulars. I was honestly outraged by the price and quality of food. First of all, the order was wrong. We received American Fries instead of tots, and my sandwich (Dagwood) included tomato when I asked for none. The fries taste like the bottom of a freezer. My wife ordered the taco salad for $7.95. She received a stale taco bowl and what amounted to 3/4 of a head of iceberg. The chicken had some sort of slimy film on it, the ranch had a sweetness to it that made it something other than ranch, and the "salsa" was more of a tomato water. If you decide to give this place a try, I would stick with a liquid diet. Hopefully they can't screw up the beer as much as they do the food. read more
