Chad was our bartender and he was great. Fun, friendly and very quick with service. There was a party of approximately 12-15 people but the bar is a nice size so it wasn't overcrowded. We went in for a quick bite to eat after our movie ended at the nearby movie theater at like 10:30pm. Not many restaurants/bars in the area were open, so a bonus was this bar closes at 1am. I've been here several times while vising Indy for work. Trader's Mill is a big space with a large "U" shaped bar in the middle of the place and ample seating through out the rest of the space. There are also a few pool tables and several flat screen TV's scattered around the place. The place has undergone a change in ownership in recent years which has been good overall, but the beer list has suffered for it. Last time I was in, I had the pizza which was quite good. The bartender was friendly and attentive. Overall, not a bad place to stop and get a couple of beers and some pub food, but I would love to see them have a better curated tap list. I would go more so 3.5. We walked in and the vibe was nice, big and fairly nice bar. We get greeted right away, but I do think the server may have been overwhelmed. Quite a few patrons and the place is big enough to spread one person thin. The food was good - I did chicken enchilada soup and quesadilla. My husband got a build your own burger (came out without the bacon, not a game changer) and Cajun coins. We agreed the quesadilla and Cajun coins were our favorites. First visit to Trader's Mill for lunch. We ordered the Club sandwich with onion rings and the Gyro with fries. Food was quicker to the table than expected and had good taste. The server guy obviously works hard for guests and provided excellent service. The lunchtime atmosphere was pretty chill, but I could see this place getting lively in the evenings, especially during bigger sporting events being displayed on multiple TV's and projector screens. Service is typically good and there is plenty of variety in the drink options. This is a bar, so no kids allowed. There are plenty of tables to choose from. Also, there are 3 pool tables, and a pop a shot game for a little fun. Typical bar food, my faves are the potato skins and garlic knots. They also have a gyro which is pretty good too. Friends sipped beer and wine and laughed. The bar was electric! This place has totally rebranded itself. No longer smoke filled. Clean, colorful, interesting, a great neighborhood bar. We stopped by to try the dinner. Carter was our five star server. Even though they were crowded he was efficient and attentive. He offered suggestions and checked on us regularly. The menu featured steaks but we were in the mood for something lighter. I tried the Chicken Deluxe salad (10.99) and a cup of the chili ($3.99). The chili was outstanding - hearty and flavorful - a five. The salad was just ok. The portion was generous but there was not much flavor. Grilled chicken, diced tomatoes, onions, eggs, cheese over a bed of iceberg lettuce. Very filling. My table mates had the Chicken BLT salad ($11.99) and the Fabulous Fish and Chips ($10.99). The BLT salad was outstanding with two green fried tomatoes, grilled chicken, applewood bacon, chopped tomatoes, and iceberg lettuce. Lots of flavors, filling and interesting. The fish and chips was also delicious. All in all, good bar food. They offer nightly specials which are a $1 off certain plates. Tonight was $2 off wings. We did not try. We will be back. My SO and I have been here five times or so and unfortunately our experience has never been as great as it was on our first visit. The service is pretty much self directed: I asked for water, I asked for a food menu, and I asked for our check. We'll continue to come for the TV's, reasonable drink prices/specials and the ability to get a seat at the bar but 3.5 stars for the restaurant is probably fair. Don't judge a book by its cover! This place is awesome! We're only here for the drinks and the tvs so I can't speak for the food but as a sports bar it definitely serves its purpose. I see 18 TVs and the pacers fans in here are lively! Liz behind the bar is great, allowing us tastes of beer and helping through the drink menu. At, the moment we can only dine in at restaurants that has patio seating, and I decided to have dinner Friday evening with my mom. The patio nice size, wasn't too many ppl, the restaurant have hand sanitizer stands out, all the Servers as well as the Manager were wearing masks. I had the traditional bbq wings(8), Oliver Cherry Moscato & mom had same as myself including drink.The only thing is I'm not sure if the server Tricia was new to serving since she kept forgetting items. This has always been my favorite place to hang out with friends! When I went it was patio seating and some inside seating, the bar area was still closed. I hadn't been in for awhile so I found out that in Fall 2019 the place came into new ownership which was evident in the menu. The menu has gone through a refresh with some of my favorites in place and a few new menu items. A lot of the same staff is still there so it's great to see some friendly faces! Omar and his dad are very friendly and they make sure you're getting taken care of. This is a nice bar! I've been several times, but I went last week with a group of friends who have never been before. Everyone seemed to enjoy it! The only complaints anyone had was there wasn't enough chicken on their nachos, they felt ripped off after ordering them. They said the flavor was good, it just wasn't enough. I was surprised, because I've always enjoyed the food at this bar. The second complaint was the front door getting stuck and not closing after people walked in or out. We sat at the first couple of high top tables, and after the first four groups or so walked in and out without closing the door behind them, we finally complained to someone. His only answer was for us to get up and move. We probably would have, but we all already had drinks and food, and no one wants to move after that. First, you should know this is a 21 and over bar. As you enter it's seat yourself at one of the numerous tables, booths or at the large U-shaped bar. Regardless of where you seat there's a flatscreen TV at every angle. In the back area of the bar are 3 pool tables and an electronic dart board. The lighting is low, the music is average to loud and the food was good. The menu consists of Appetizers, Soups & Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers and Pizza. Available after 5 p.m. are Steaks and Entrees served with two sides (Filet Mignon, Ribeye, NY Strip, Pork Ribeye, Salmon or Loaded Chicken Steak). Their trying to switch their image from bar to restaurant. I'd say bar is fine as long as the food and drinks are good. We started off with the Flat Fried Pickles (8 long pieces) which is fresh, whole pickles sliced by hand, long and flat then hand-breaded and deep-fried. Tangy and really good with the chipotle ranch dressing for dipping. Lunch/Dinner for my husband was the Grilled Tenderloin with Cajun Coin Fries. The tenderloin was slightly larger than the bun so it wasn't abused, seasoned well and very tender. The generous portion of Coin fries had a decent amount of seasoning but were just a bit overcooked for our liking. Still very edible, just crispier than we care for. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Sandwich with Chicken Enchiladas Soup. I was pleasantly surprised how juicy and tender my sandwich was. I love Cajun seasoning which was generous and the pepper jack cheese complimented the cajun seasoning nicely. The Chicken Enchilada Soup, my side, was full of corn, black beans, chicken, spice and had just a hint of heat. Very enjoyable on a nasty, dreary night. Our server, David, did a nice job taking care of us. We had a slight hiccup in the beginning with the pasta dinner special being changed from what was listed on the board by the entrance. While visiting a friend in the hospital, I wanted to grab something for an early dinner. Trader's Mill was just across 86th, so I decided to give it a try. They share a large parking lot, so finding a spot was easy. The interior is kept kind of dark even though it was sunny outside. I was directed to seat myself anywhere I liked, so I grabbed a spot at the bar since I was dining alone. Service was quick and efficient throughout the meal. I ordered a breaded tenderloin with the works and upgraded to the onion rings. The tenderloin was typical Hoosier style..too thin and too large for a bun. But, it was still moist inside instead of being overcooked. The breading had little flavor while hot (I got a to go box and noticed the flavor was more noticeable after the sandwich had gotten cold.) When I finally got to where the bun and other toppings could help, the sandwich definitely tasted better. The onion rings were thin and crispy on the outside and easy to bite through. (I hate when old onions with thick membranes between layers don't get cooked through!) Excellent job on the ring preparation! The breading was light and golden brown. Really couldn't ask for better! My friend and I visited for the first time yesterday evening. We only came to chat over drinks. He ordered mozzarella sticks which looked pretty good and I ordered a brownie sundae which was much bigger than I expected and wasn't any good... The brownie was so dry and the ice cream was cold but flavorless. I liked how sweet the Love Potion cocktail was. My friend got one too but he didn't like how syrupy it was and told the waitress to take it away. We were still charged for it anyway. New management took over a few months ago. The food is really good. They recently started a Sunday brunch from 11:00am-3:00 pm that is excellent. I recommend the breakfast burrito (eggs, sausage, cheese, hash browns & gravy. Now the service....If you want to eat here, sit at the bar because they only have one bartender (and no servers) to take care of the entire establishment. There are three managers walking around while one bartender serves everybody....They would be better off with three servers and one manager. Management needs to have another server in there to take care of all of the tables so the bartender can just focus on the bar. The bartender that I had was awesome. She did a terrific job. However, management put her in a bad position by having her serve the entire place by herself. read more
