Gatsby is one of our favorite places for pizza and fried mushrooms. We went there after the INDY 500, and the food did not disappoint. The Customer Service, however, unfortunately did. The restaurant was busy, and became even busier as we were dinning. There were only two servers for the entire restaurant. We waited quite a while for our order to be taken. We actually saw three different tables get up and leave the restaurant because no one came to take their order. The table next to us waited a while as well. When the server finally came to their table, she said, " I'll get to you when I can." We had a different server from the table next to us. Our server got our order wrong and our bill was incorrect. The restaurant has around 13 TVs, making it a great place to watch sporting events. As mentioned this was Sunday after the INDY 500. Being broadcast while we were at Gatsby was the replay of the Indy 500, the NASCAR race, the Pacers pre-game for the eastern finals. Gatsby had the Indy 500 on one TV. NASCAR and the Pacers were not shown at all. What was shown? The same UFL game was on five TVs, women's softball, happy TV network, 60 minutes, and two TVs that scrolled advertisement for bar poker. I've nothing against UFL and women's softball. But this is Indianapolis and it's the day of the 500 in the Pacers! There were also several individuals in the restaurant with Kyle Larson shirts. I know they would've been interested in the NASCAR race since Kyle ran both the 500 and made it in time to Charlotte for nascar. Sadly, it appears management of Gatsby missed the mark tonight on a couple of items. First, they underestimated the crowd on a holiday weekend and misjudged the number of servers that they needed in the restaurant. There is a hotel right next-door to Gatsby's. We saw several groups of individuals entering the hotel, coming from the race. We also saw several groups walking from the hotel to Gatsby's for dinner. Management misunderstanding the impact of the race on their business is one thing. Another is the apparent lack of comprehension of a large group of out-of-town visitors at a hotel next-door. Second, management did not appear to be cognizant of the local sporting events and the concept of what patrons may want to watch on a sports filled weekend at a sports pub. As mentioned Gatsby's is our favorite place for pizza and fried mushrooms. We will definitely return for those items and give them another try. This visit just sadly disappointed with regards to the customer service and customer awareness aspect. And was not a good representation of what Indianapolis has to offer for out of town visitors. read more

Pretty standard sports bar fare -- 2.5 stars across the board for the chicken tenders, boneless chicken wings (which were just the tenders with sauce on top), and the chicken Philly. The fries were cooked nicely but under-seasoned. They were really busy and were running some sort of game that involved playing about 20 seconds of different songs really loudly and then announcing their names. read more

***THE BEST TENDERLOIN EVER*** This is a hand breaded tenderloin, not a frozen premade thing. The breading has great flavor. You really don't need anything else on it. They have a sports bar atmosphere, but recently added family seating. I've also had the Cuban and burgers, but the tenderloin is the best thing on the menu. Today, after my doctor's appointment, I just wanted a small appetizer to knock the edge off since I had several other errands today. Gatsby's has become one of my staples after my PCP or Rayus appointments since it's just across the street in the strip center behind Starbucks. I selected the basket of calamari, which was the perfect size to fill me up enough till early evening. It arrived very quickly, nice and hot. The calamari was lightly golden brown and not overcooked, which I appreciated. I know many people like a very crispy calamari, but I do prefer obviously cooked but lightly crispy. My server, Dee S., was terrific as always and checked on me several times. I've been coming in for many years, and she has become familiar with my habits and orders as all good servers do. The restaurant is decorated top to bottom in scary ghosts, hanging, bloody body parts, frightening Dracula's, skeletons, and well distributed spider webs, especially on the long mirror above the upper booths. There are actually dying, small tree limbs loaded with leaves and secured tightly to the ceiling, which provide a very authentic fall effect with the dried up leaves with the colorful hanging decor. Sometimes going for someplace new works out and sometimes it doesn't. I made reservations at a Burger Joint my husband is tired of but I love their Gorganberry Salad. So canceled that and ended up at Gatsbys. Didn't know it was trivia night. Took 15 min to get our server. Took 30 min to get drinks. Took 45 min to get appetizer. Took an hour to get sandwiches and tots. French dip could have used double the meat or half the bread. But it was good. Husband liked his chicken sandwich. Tots were good. Server was friendly. Food was decent bar food served hot. Looked like a place they have a lot of regulars. May try again on a non trivia night. read more

The sandwich was good. Not exceptional. I guess not ordering a alcoholic beverage means you're ignored. We shared a club sandwich but it took a while to get an extra plate though it was promised at delivery we didn't get it for awhile. Had to ask for forks as none were provided when we arrived. We've been going to Gatsby's for lunch for a very long time, todays experience was different - I'm not sure if it was the oil or the cook but the food smelt burnt and the chicken was very dry. We even ordered our usual app of Fried Mushrooms but those smelled so off putting we were a bit weary but we all tried one and said "nope", luckily that was taken off the bill. It was very busy so I'm not sure if they were overwhelmed by the volume but the three of us agreed, not their best day but hey it's next to the job so we'll be back. My boss and I had the Fried Chicken Special, the chicken was so crackley and dry - I only got through the drumstick. My coworker went the safe route of a sandwich, his plate was clean! read more

Gatsby's is located in a small strip center in front of an office park. Frequently we venture out here for lunch during the day. The space is a neighborhood sports bar vibe, nothing flashy. During the lunch hour service is usually on point. Out of the many times we have been here these has been one we waited quite awhile. The menu has a variety of options from fried mushrooms to salads, etc. American bar food plus. I typically order a salad (all the options I have had were pretty darn good). Boss and I decided to stop in here for lunch on a Wednesday. Seat yourself so we were not greeted but the staff was friendly when they came to the table. We ordered a tenderloin and a wrap and both were just okay. Nothing special. Side salad was just okay with a mix of fresh and old lettuce and a few hairs (yuck). Restaurant environment is very dive bar with the restrooms and the tables being plane Jane. Restrooms were dingy and falling apart but that's what you'd expect from a dive bar so nothing too bad there. After I was done my stomach hurt a bit and overall didn't love the food. First time coming here, wanted a place to sit back and unwind at so I found this place. Staff here was absolutely kind and friendly. It's a family restaurant too so kids are definitely welcome. The menu is pretty standard which is great for me since I didn't want to look at 30 different things at once. Food prices are fair as well as the size that's received. Their BLT burger was good! Angry Orchard is their only hard Cider too though I wish there were more hard Cider options. Plenty of great sports on their TVs. Will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area. read more

I have been coming to Gatsby's for years, over the last 3-4 years I come by when I am in town for work as it is close to the hotel I stay at. Gatsby's is a good size space with a fair amount of seating and a semi-circular bar with 15-20 seats. There used to be pool tables, but they have been MIA the last few times I have been in. The food is hit or miss, there have been times I have been in that the food was very good, and there have been times that it was very clearly thrown together with no care for quality. The menu is typical pub fare, burgers, pizzas, wings, etc... and is fairly expansive for a place like this, maybe if they consolidated the menu a bit they could focus on quality for the remaining items. I believe there are around 15 taps, around 10-12 of which are dedicated to good craft beer at any given time. They usually have at least 1 or 2 Three Floyds offerings, and 1 or 2 Sun King offerings. This last time I got a Zombie Dust and a Wee Mac. The beers usually seem to be fresh and have never experienced off flavors from dirty tap lines. The wait staff is usually very attentive and personable, and they usually never let my glass get empty before asking what I would like for my next round. Overall, this is a pretty decent place that I will continue to visit when I travel to Indianapolis. read more

We ordered carry-out so I won't say much about how fast the food became cold and fried foods limp in the 30 minutes between the kitchen and eating it at home. That was not a Gatsby problem exactly. All that to say, you want the best experience from here, plan to eat at the restaurant. A big bonus of Gatsby's is their large variety of typical pub food to please anyone's request. My husband ordered onion rings and a chef salad. The toppings on the salad were abundant, plenty of meats. Gatsby's is a cool neighborhood pub with a great beer selection and a great menu! This is our first time stopping in Indianapolis and Gatsby's was near our hotel. The menu looked good online and we are happy we chose to come here. Being the beginning of October, it was all decked out for Halloween. Our server was busy, but had plenty of time for us. We split an Oktoberfest and also a shrimp basket and a fantastic spinach salad with bacon dressing and all the best toppings. We highly recommend Gatsby's! read more

I was in town (first time) in Indy. Went to lunch here three times. The atmosphere is sports bar (Fun) with music playing over the speakers and multiple TVs showing sports, movies, and music videos! I tried three different dishes; Chicken Quesadilla, BLT, and BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich. The sides I tried were the Coleslaw and the Potato Salad - the Potato Salad was Delicious! All very good food! I met a few servers and bartenders and a supervisor, All really good people. If I make it back to Indy I will definitely be going back to Gatsby's! I Highly recommend this Pub & Grill! read more

My large family just ate here. I have never encountered such friendly staff at a restaurant. From our first interaction to our last everyone was so kind and helpful. My daughter had a long day and was visibly exhausted. Two different staff members came up to give her some toys to play with and cheer her up. She fell in love with one of the toys and they actually let her take it home. I was flabbergasted. My daughter felt so special. The food came out hot and fast! My husband said they had some of the best boneless wings he's ever had. He was impressed they were hand breaded. Fun music and just an overall relaxed, fun vibe. Whenever I'm in town on business travel, this is conveniently located close to where I normally stay. They have good pub food and they have many specials all week long. At first it's kind of awkward as you wait for someone to seat you, but this is a place where you seat yourself and just wait for the waitress to help you out. Sometimes you have to be in the lookout otherwise it will take a while before you get noticed. Food also takes some time in being prepared. One piece of advice...the loaded potato skins are huge! The only thing I did not like from them is that they cut a baked potato in half, put the toppings on top, put it in the microwave or oven and there you go. I would probably have mines with some of the potato taken from the inside so they are lighter...but that's just me. By the way... they had trivia night when I had dinner. Seemed to be fun. read more

I have visited this pub and grill a few times while in town for business as it was within walking distance of my hotel. It is a very relaxed eatery. I was able to get some laptop work completed and have an adult beverage after. They have much better than average bar food. Super convenient for a to go meal too. Came here around 5pmish with a few coworkers. This was my first time trying the famous pork tenderloin sandwich. The breading was amazing and the meat was moist. My only gripe was we waited long for drinks and to get food. Once we ordered, it looked like more staff had started the shift. This made things much more smooth. Food was good but I don't have a standard for tenderloin. So I can't compare. I can say it was really good. We will need to give this place another try when it's not busy. read more

Average I only came here because my hotel is right there and it was the only thing open at 10PM besides McDonald's. It's really just bar food, not really all that great. If you are staying at a local hotel, I would say just eat at McDonald's. I'm the type of person who refuses to eat at McDonald's, but tonight I ate at McDonald's after eating at Gatsby's last night. I ate here simply because it was near my hotel and I was not having a good day and didn't want to adventure out to find a place to eat. That being said, it was pretty much what I'd expected. I was hopeful when I saw that they had fresh battered mushroom on the menu. They weren't bad. A bit on the salty side, but all in all they were pretty well cooked. I ordered the philly steak sandwich for my meal, without the onions. Again, the mushrooms were good super well. The steak wasn't bad, it was bland and didn't taste seasoned at all. The hoagie roll was warm and soft. The fries weren't the best I've ever had, but definitely not the worst either. The place did have a pretty great beer selection though. read more
