Pretzel Bites nice-n-girthy
Zak B.

Service was fantastic and the wife and I were thoroughly surprised with how large the pretzel bites were! Oompf, the GIRTH!!

Columbus bar is one of the oldest br in the town and it's locals favorite place to hang out. You can have your own mug hanging on the bar but for that you have to be really regular here.. the service is fast food is good and decent beer menu. It's a small bar but worth trying.

The more places I dine and drink around the state, the more I run into places that are set up differently than others. Even Yelp has a difficult time deciding if this is a bar (Columbus Bar) or a Brewery (Power House Brewing) and has reviews for both places that overlap and are interchangeable. If you haven't been here, Power House bought the bar and serves their limited line (only 3 options) as well as a large number of "guest" beers. The bar itself is very old and sadly, shows its age...not in the best way. Restrooms are small, ceiling tiles are dingy, and it looks like it is "well worn". Some might find it adds character, but my wife noticed a lot of things which made it hard to ignore in my review. There was only one server working the lunch shift and she was serving both the bar and family dining sides which are separated by a wall, so you couldn't see her when she was on the other side. Not a great situation. I will say that some of the food we ordered was really good! I had the Kraut Balls appetizer which include sausage and cream cheese with the sauerkraut and then rolled in panko before deep frying. The horseradish dip (not too strong) gives the appetizer a really flavorful balance. I also liked my pulled pork sandwich. There were nice strips of roasted pork and the sauce (on the side) had a bit of apple flavor that made the sandwich really good. The portion was smaller than most places I've been...maybe that is intentional since it was lunch time. I got to pick a side and I found the cole slaw rather tasteless...no sweetness, no acidity. My wife got the lunch sized tenderloin which is intentionally smaller than most I've tried, but still a decent amount of meat. She thought it a bit overcooked, but otherwise it was fine. She got the steamed veggies which could have used some seasoning, but otherwise were served fully cook, not al dente (which was fine for her.) I think one of the problems I have with a brewery owned business is that they don't serve flights. Most likely, it is because they don't make enough varieties to fill out a flight. I was able to get two samples of the house beers and settled on the Amber Ale "Jack the Bum" (5.8% 62 IBU) which was far more bitter than most ambers I've had. The price was great ($4.75 for a pint) but the beer was just okay. I also tried the Ceraline (4.9% 22) which is an odd combination of Hoppy Cream Ale. I usually think of cream ales as gateway options into craft beer. The hoppy taste in this one might deter a newbie from trying more. Why not simply make an IPA if you want it hoppy? Or just a cream ale? Or make one of each, have four kinds of beers, and be able to offer a flight? I just don't get it for an established brewery to not be able to offer more. To sum up, the food was pretty good, the beer was okay, and it does help support a local business. But there are a lot of other local restaurants and breweries (and some combos) that I much prefer. Lunch Special Chicken Tenders tossed in buffalo sauce Salad with grilled chicken.
Kara M.

My husband and I had the day off and wanted to go to lunch but didn't want to blow the budget. Columbus Bar was a great choice!!! They have a $7 lunch special with enough options to choose from. He got chicken tenders tossed in buffalo sauce with a side of fries and I got a salad and added grilled chicken. That was around $9. The chicken was real chicken and kind of crispy (which I love). The salad was be enough and very filling. We will definitely be back!

Are you over these new breweries with their exposed steel beams and overall industrial vibe? Fear not! Columbus Bar, home to PowerHouse Brewing, is a step back in time to a scene that's more likely to remind you of an episode of "Cheers". Not only will you find taps from Powerhouse but also a solid selection of craft guest taps. Our visit didn't include food, but it did include samples of all of the Powerhouse beers. I've had Diesel Oil Stout at Indiana beer festivals, and it's definitely the stand out of their lineup. I'm not going to be in a rush to get back to this bar, but it's nice to know that there's a casual spot to cozy up to craft brews in the heart of Columbus.

We went for a few drinks and a quick snack after hitting a few bars beforehand. Our server was great, quick, and very friendly. The only thing I didn't like is that a wing I had already took a bite out of and swallowed, to look down to see that it may have not been fully cooked.

Ultimate beef n cheddar. Roast beef, nacho cheese, horseradish sauce, French onions on a homemade pretzel bun! Gaaaaaaah! Yes!

Husband and I had garlic bread (comes with cheese) and this was no ordinary cheesy bread. Wonderful flavor with an accompaniment of the aforementioned pesto, feta and even a marinara. I enjoyed, but the 'outside ' of the pizza was pretty light on toppings for my personal taste. Husband LOVES crust, me, not so much. Ordered Brussel sprouts so we could feel better about our carb heavy meal and these were top notch as well. Jessie, our server was on top of everything and a delight! Modern atmosphere and spotless. Then the "Elderberry Fizz" drink had not one fizzy bubble! We asked and they said that despite the name, the drink is flat. Huh? The Taxman beer was nice and the carbonation was just right. On to the food ... happy to find that the grilled cheese which is on local sourdough bread and stuffed with a nice amount of spinach could be ordered without bell peppers. It came with choice of side and she chose "Indiana mustard potato salad". Since she is from Indiana thought it funny that which part was "Indiana". I ordered the fish tacos small plate. The chef came out in person to make sure that fresh ahi grade tuna was ok (!) because so many people assume that tacos would have fried fish. He also guaranteed that not a bell pepper would be in site. We were sitting outside on their extensive patio and the beautiful food came out. We could not believe our luck. The $10 tacos were gorgeous and delicious, a bit spicy. The grilled cheese was more than the ordinary. The potato salad was quite good and a little sweet. If we lived in Columbus we would want to know about this great deal - a nice different meal for a Friday night or something.

The inside of the Farmhouse is just like a farmhouse, with the most charming interior that feels like Thanksgiving dinner with a collection of all the tables and chairs that you could find in your house to host everyone. First course, delightfully unexpected, was queso and chips! Free of charge, we were served a nice Rotel-style queso dip with multigrain chips. Yum! The tea selection is nice, it's all bagged teas that you get a small pot of. I got a salted caramel tea. Delish! Delightfully unexpected! I got the chicken salad sandwich with kettle chips. I love a chicken salad sandwich and this one hits the spot. We split a slice of peach pie for dessert that was just lovely and warmed up for us. All courses arrived pretty quickly. I will start off with the positives: the atmosphere was nice and I was greeted by friendly staff and shown to the bar were I received good service. Now to the reason I would not recommend. I ordered a cocktail from the menu and it was served in less than 20 seconds. Speed is great, but for the price of the cocktail, I was not expecting a cocktail that they had pre-mixed, which was what I was served (and that lack of attention was evident in the flavor). The cocktail wasn't bad, but sure not up to the standards of the price (and price is only an issue in the absence of value). Next came the charcuterie board...it was 3 stacks of salami (not even good salami), pickled beats, raw red onions, raw jalapeno slices, some pitted Kalamata olives, cornichons, a small wedge of brie, a couple of slices of a white cheddar, a tiny scoop of goat cheese, and a raspberry vinaigrette. This all came with a side of boxed crostinis, which I was told "let us know if you need more". When I asked about there only being salami on the board, the staff said, "yeah, its a salami heavy board"...with which I asked, "do you have anything other than salami?" and he said he would ask the chef. 3 minutes later they came out and said that was all they had and did I want another appetizer. All of the other appetizer (3 in total) were not of the same value nor were they what I had come into the restaurant for, so I said "it is fine". I ate 1/4 of the board (the pickled beats were the shinning star) and asked for my ticket, which I assumed would include my $20 cocktail, the bottle of wine I ordered, and some discount for the poor excuse of a charcuterie board, but there was no compromise / disount for their board's lack of variety or quality. I didn't protest, but I certainly want others to know that the quality here certainly isn't worth the price.
