The menu changes periodically, but I started with the fried calamari! It was served with their in-house marinara. The calamari was fried lightly and was very tender. I followed it with their caesar salad and fresh bread n' butter. The caesar salad was not a traditional Caesar dressing (i.e., anchovies and Dijon based) but was instead a more subtle, oil based vinaigrette. It was a nice twist and it was served with fresh, warm croutons which really took it over the top. For my entree, I had the penne vodka with chicken which was delicious - well-seasoned and tasted wonderful. The atmosphere is very old-school, laid back, and ambient with low lighting. In town for a work meeting and was excited to be treated to a local restaurant. Angottis recently moved into this location and secured their liquor license. Tables must be reserved as food is prepped by the owner and her team. Our table was upfront, right as you stepped into the restaurant so we didn't get to experience much of the space. Most tables are four tops, but our group was larger and I spotted a round table with more seats. We started with bottles of Chianti and one of each appetizer: mozzarella sticks, fried ravioli and bruschetta. Really good! Each entree came with a (very) small Caesar salad. The croutons are ... yum. For my entree I opted for the spaghetti and meatballs. The thought of seasoned red sauce sounded good but this dish didn't pack much flavor. It came with two meatballs that were also a bit bland and a softer texture than I'd prefer. I finished about half and didn't care to take the rest home for later. A friend shared a cheese ravioli with me which came in cream sauce. If I visited again I'd try this dish instead for dinner. Cannolis were shareable with 3 of them and the tiramisu came as large slices, like cake. Again, I wanted more flavor, especially the richness of coffee in the tiramisu. Service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately it was extremely warm and it was a distraction during our meal, with someone mentioning it about every 15 minutes. We thought our spot near the front windows and soda fountain machine might have affected us, but upon leaving I overheard another family saying their experience was the same. Good experience and great food, and with a little more time, I'm sure they will find their groove & work out any kinks. It is reservation-only, so when we called to put our names in, the only time slot available was much later than we would've liked but we took it anyways. When we got there, the whole restaurant was empty except for 2 other parties. I only saw 3 workers -- 2 waitresses and a chef. The chef came out to seat every person which is sweet but seemed to do it more out of necessity for being short staffed. The 2 waitresses were nice but I think need to work out a lot of kinks. Their uniforms seemed to be a hassle (short flapper dresses with purses). They both seemed to be really stressed. The food was all amazing! You can tell it is cooked in house. Everything is fresh & flavorful. That is the most important part of any dining experience!!! We did witness them accepting walk-in customers who had no reservations so maybe it's not a big deal if you don't call ahead. read more

We had dinner at Angottis tonight, and it was excellent. We had reservations for four people. We were seated immediately and she took our order for drinks and the meals that we wanted. This is a small restaurant and reservations are required in the evenings (Tuesday through Saturday- 4:00 to 9:00.) The salad and bread came first followed by our entrees. The food was prepared excellently and it was delicious. Our dining experience took about an hour from beginning to end. I had the chocolate cake for dessert and it was wonderful. The best meal we had in Columbus. We were in town for work and saw the number of positive reviews for the restaurant and thought we'd give it a try. The restaurant was booked for an event but the owner/chef was willing to seat us since we were from out of town. Loved the food, the ambience and the chef! My lovely and talented bride found Angottis while we were passing through Columbus. We love Italian so both agreed to check them out, especially after all the 5 star reviews. My heart sank when we got to the door and the sign said "Reservations Required". we walked in hoping for the best. Both servers greeted us and said they would check with the Chef as she plans her meals for the evening by how many reservations she has. so if you get turned away but the place has vacant tables, thats why. It's not because you're special. Both servers dressed in flapper dresses (Carla had just made hers the day before), it was a fun ambiance without being cheesy. After the properly portioned Caesar salad with *OMG* freshly toasted seasoned croutons (!!) I had the Lasagne and the lovely and talented had the T.H. Stein cheese ravioli, both excellent. Let me go back to those croutons. Freashly buttered, seasoned and toasted those are the most amazing croutons. You know how frustrating it is to try to stab a crouton into your fork only to have it split into 6 pieces so instead you try to scoop it with lettuce and juggle the crouton all the way to your mouth? These are crispy on the outside with a tender center you can easily get your fork into. Amazing. If you're still reading this just stop and call them for a reservation. read more

Located in the Elk's Club building, Angotti's is a hidden gem! I've been wanting good Italian food and amazing Italian food is what we were served! The handmade ravioli had the tastiest ricotta blend stuffing under a ladleful of beautiful homemade marinara sauce capped with mozzarella cheese. The alfredo was the richest, creamiest sauce I've ever tasted and the noodles were prepared perfectly. Both meals served with a Caesar salad with buttery homemade croutons and fresh bread. Then my salad didn't have any dressing so I had to ask for her to bring some. I had to ask for bread twice! And the restaurant was not crowded - only six tables for two waitresses! Reminded me of dancing at the Wabasha Street Caves in St. Paul, Minnesota, if you're into that style and era in history. The waitresses were outstanding and friendly. The inside is clean and neatly appointed. The servers were warm and helpful and fun! Everyone was very attentive and professional. I normally post pics with my posts, this restaurant felt so classy, and comfortably formal, that I felt it would be awkward. The owner has done an amazing job of dressing up the former establishment (Special Dogs). A very formal looking decor, in early Italian Mobster photos (the table lamp is a pistol to match the era!). Quiet---probably 12 tables. Menu with appetizers, entree and desert. Liquor license is applies for. Young waitress had moved here from a fast food background but was VERY polite, proper, and right on top of things witht the order. We were party of 4 and had fried ravioli, casear salad (came with the meal with fresh, warm croutons), chicken parmesan for the ladies, seared scallops for me and Broadway Joe (seared shrimp in rosa sauce and basil over angel hair pasta.) Desert was tiramisu (x 2) and house-made cheesecake. The other option was fried cheese cake. With reservations, our waitress said our table was "yours for the evening" though if spots open, I understand they would seat people later. Overall, a brilliant business plan by the owner, (though I don't recall her name), who is also the interior designer, chef, and did an incredible job training a young lady (our waitress was Lily--I just recalled!) to be a delightful hostess, conversationist, and server. We will definitely return and would invite you just to come to town to experience a delightful evening across the street from the county courthouse, in downtown Columbus, IN. read more

How to describe the experience... disappointing and sad. Disappointed: I thought I was about to see Gordon Ramsay to enter the room like he does in kitchen nightmares to stop that from happening! Sad: ordered spaghetti and tomato sauce and meatballs, easy, right? nope I got angel hair pasta which were swimming in water with a below average sauce (probably grocery store one, or at least taste like a cheap one), meatballs tasteless, not seasoned properly. My wife ordered lasagna, same thing, vaguely seasoned, dry meat (didn't even think that was possible to accomplish). Won't return there, and recommend to avoid. Friendly waitress though. read more

Angotti's! Wow what a hidden gem. Walked here with a friend and loved the ambience immediately. Sinatra on the house radio, walls with photos of famous gangsters and pistol shaped lamps on each table. For lunch, it's a seat yourself and grab a plate kind of restaurant. There is no menu but take it or leave it for what's on the menu. When we stopped by there was fresh bread, fresh salad, two kinds of tortellini, baked pasta and fresh cannoli. It's a one or two person operation but literally the best pasta and sauce I've ever had. Confession, I'm not well versed in Italian but I've never, ever had anything like it. This includes eating at some "Little Italy" places in bigger cities. Hilariously, the bill is brought to you with a pair of brass knuckles on top of them. So creative. Only one mildly negative thing to say. Our bill had a convenience charge on it. It is charged when you use a credit or debit card to pay. I understand it costs money to businesses to use plastic. We had cash and could have paid but didn't want to make a big deal about it. Still, don't like to see these charges. We will be back and to make reservations for dinner. Can't wait! Was a little hard to find at first. You must have a reservation and we didn't but they were kind to go ahead and take us since no one was there yet. It was our anniversary! Nicely decorated with an Italian theme. Food is prepared daily and the menu is changed daily per the chef. We had fried ravioli for appetizer and was very tasty! We ordered the lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs. Both meals came with Caesar salad with homemade croutons (warm and so good) and bread. For dessert we had cannoli. Everyone was so nice!
