    Spaghetti and meatballs
    Lorie L.

In town for a work meeting and was excited to be treated to a local restaurant. Angottis recently moved into this location and secured their liquor license. Tables must be reserved as food is prepped by the owner and her team. Our table was upfront, right as you stepped into the restaurant so we didn't get to experience much of the space. Most tables are four tops, but our group was larger and I spotted a round table with more seats. We started with bottles of Chianti and one of each appetizer: mozzarella sticks, fried ravioli and bruschetta. Really good! Each entree came with a (very) small Caesar salad. The croutons are ... yum. For my entree I opted for the spaghetti and meatballs. The thought of seasoned red sauce sounded good but this dish didn't pack much flavor. It came with two meatballs that were also a bit bland and a softer texture than I'd prefer. I finished about half and didn't care to take the rest home for later. A friend shared a cheese ravioli with me which came in cream sauce. If I visited again I'd try this dish instead for dinner. Cannolis were shareable with 3 of them and the tiramisu came as large slices, like cake. Again, I wanted more flavor, especially the richness of coffee in the tiramisu. Service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately it was extremely warm and it was a distraction during our meal, with someone mentioning it about every 15 minutes. We thought our spot near the front windows and soda fountain machine might have affected us, but upon leaving I overheard another family saying their experience was the same. I'm hoping in the coming days this issue can be addressed. Street parking available plus a few patio tables give an outdoor option.

    Broadway Joe - the best!

This is an awesome intimate Italian restaurant!! We had the dish called Broadway Joe (seared shrimp with Angel hair pasta and an incredible vodka sauce) and Lasagna (you know, like lasagna but better than any lasagna you have ever had)! We can't wait to come back! Please Note: Reservations are required.

We had dinner at Angottis tonight, and it was excellent. We had reservations for four people. We were seated immediately and she took our order for drinks and the meals that we wanted. This is a small restaurant and reservations are required in the evenings (Tuesday through Saturday- 4:00 to 9:00.) The salad and bread came first followed by our entrees. The food was prepared excellently and it was delicious. Our dining experience took about an hour from beginning to end. I had the chocolate cake for dessert and it was wonderful. I would highly recommended this restaurant for lunch or dinner. Lunch hours 11:30 to 2:30 Tues thru Friday. This place is located at 217 Washington Street, Columbus, Indiana. Call (812) 375-0686. Cost: $$-$$$

The best meal we had in Columbus. We were in town for work and saw the number of positive reviews for the restaurant and thought we'd give it a try. The restaurant was booked for an event but the owner/chef was willing to seat us since we were from out of town. Loved the food, the ambience and the chef! The restaurant has a very Italian and Godfather theme, right down to the brass knuckles holding down the check. Lots of little touches that made this dining experience unique.

My lovely and talented bride found Angottis while we were passing through Columbus. We love Italian so both agreed to check them out, especially after all the 5 star reviews. My heart sank when we got to the door and the sign said "Reservations Required". we walked in hoping for the best. Both servers greeted us and said they would check with the Chef as she plans her meals for the evening by how many reservations she has. so if you get turned away but the place has vacant tables, thats why. It's not because you're special. Both servers dressed in flapper dresses (Carla had just made hers the day before), it was a fun ambiance without being cheesy. After the properly portioned Caesar salad with *OMG* freshly toasted seasoned croutons (!!) I had the Lasagne and the lovely and talented had the T.H. Stein cheese ravioli, both excellent. Let me go back to those croutons. Freashly buttered, seasoned and toasted those are the most amazing croutons. You know how frustrating it is to try to stab a crouton into your fork only to have it split into 6 pieces so instead you try to scoop it with lettuce and juggle the crouton all the way to your mouth? These are crispy on the outside with a tender center you can easily get your fork into. Amazing. If you're still reading this just stop and call them for a reservation.

    Table lamps.

Great service. Delicious food. Delicious caesar salad with fresh croutons! Fun and festive atmosphere. Wonderful YELP find on our road trip to Louisville!

The building sits on the banks of Driftwood River (now called East Fork White River) and offers spectacular views of the famous Robert N. Stewart Bridge in Columbus, Indiana. Upland Brewing Company is a local brewery that started in Bloomington, Indiana in 1998. Now, they have a number of popular restaurants/pubs across Indiana. The building, built in 1871, served as the Pump House supplying water to the city of Columbus, Indiana. The Pump House faced financial, water and quality challenges over the years, but was instrumental in industrial growth of the city. The Pump House operated until 1950, when the city moved to well water. The Pump House served a number of businesses and organizations since 1950. Upland opened the pub in 2016. We were greeted and promptly seated in the bar when we entered. Our server/bartender, Jess, was attentive and friendly. Several other servers also engaged with us, as well. One brought me a fascinating pamphlet describing the history of the building because I was curious. We arrived in time to sample their 3:00 - 5:00 pm Happy Hour. (I love a good Happy Hour.) We ordered Dragonfly IPAs, which went down smooth on a hot summer day. We also enjoyed a couple of sliders from the Happy Hour menu. The Bad Elmer's Fav burger was good with lots of bacon but my favorite was the Hoosier Tenderloin. I should note that much of the food is locally sourced. The building has a large dining room, bar, private dining, private event room, and a fabulous patio with river views. The landscaping is gorgeous. Their signature beers are available for purchase to go along with the logo shirt and a few other logo items. I highly recommend a visit. The food and beer are first class. The setting is lovely and service is attentive.

Pretty inside but also on the inside I had a disaster experience .... Well I've eaten here once…read morebefore and it was awesome but this time it wasn't. Matter of fact I'm not sure if I want to go back. We were sat in an almost empty restaurant but that was most likely because of time of day (around 2). Our waitress though took awhile to come greet us. She took our orders and to start off on a wrong foot our 2 cocktails and WATERS took over 10 minutes to come out. I know this because I had a text I had sent and being aggravated I went back and looked at the time when I sent it . Later on our appetizers came out. It was about 20ish minutes after our order went in. Then our food came about 5 minutes after that giving us little room left on the table. I know it was an almost 45 minute wait to get everything. I ordered the blackened chicken which was amazing my first visit a couple months previously but this time it was dry and definitely blackened .... AKA burnt! The manager was checking on the other tables she had with an additional waitress running around so I assume our waitress wasn't the only one taking care of them (4 as seen in picture actually) and when he popped by to ask how everything was he took my plate to remake it. 15ish MORE minutes go by and I asked the waitress if she could check on my food and she said 'well chicken takes a while to cook'. In disbelief I jokingly said I can make it faster at home so please just get mine to-go since my parents were already done and had been done for awhile. We got to-go boxes for their leftovers and my food came out shortly after . We received $ 40 off without asking so I appreciated getting something for 1 1/2 hours waiting in a nearly empty restaurant and no meal. I went home and when I went to heat up my food AGAIN the chicken was charred and extremely dry. I ate the sweet corn farrotto which was atleast good and trashed the chicken. Since it was now dinner time I made my own meal With the time and overall poorly done meal(s?) I had I think I'll avoid it happening again by just going elsewhere. It's a shame because we went here with a party of 8 previously and they did so good. We were honestly thinking this would be our spot for special occasions after that but it's likely not worth it since the manager and chef left us hanging and yet again served something subpar. I'd of hoped they make absolutely sure my simple chicken dish was correct the second time around I didn't take a pictures of food we got unfortunately. Our appetizers looked and tasted good but they were eaten quickly because we were starving by the time they came out around 3 so no time for those pictures either. I was then too busy sending my food back and eating appetizers. Once my chicken came out togo we all just wanted out of there! Then once I got home I was too aggravated and gave up any reason to go get my phone I suppose. Why bother? They didn't bother to make it right after all except to give us some $ off but I still wasted my time that day and again when I got home making my own food . The manager will definitely remember this disaster though

It is no wonder the restaurant fills with guests so quickly. The dining room is not fancy or trendy, but super clean and cozy. Humorous fish and local sporting pictures hang on the wall. I had the fried fish meal. The fish is wild-caught Alaskan whitefish. The fish portion was generous (I chose not to have the sandwich). The fish was lightly battered and flakey. The creamy coleslaw was very good. And I loved that they carried unsweetened ice tea (but I could have used some fresh lemon). My husband had the daily special of ham and bean soup, fried potatoes and a beautiful corn muffin. Portions are generous. Marlin shook our hands when we left and invited us back. Would I recommend coming here for food? No. Would I recommend coming here for cheap drinks? Yes…read more My husband and I went here last night for dinner after going down to Columbus to watch our niece play her volleyball tournament. They were packed and had trivia going on, but they still had plenty of places to sit inside and on the small patio. We had wanted to sit outside since the weather was nice, so we grabbed a table in the corner on the patio (it is a seat yourself establishment). After a while, a server came over to get our drink orders and we each ordered a water. I asked for a Bud Light on draft, which was listed on their menu, but he told me they only have it bottles and just had Michelob Ultra on draft that was similar. No problem, we each ordered one of those. Some time passed and I saw our server come out onto the patio, look at us, and promptly spin around to go back inside. A couple minutes later he returned with our waters and an apology about the beers taking a long time because "the bartender was too busy talking." I got more of the impression that he forgot to put in our order at all, hence the quick turnaround to get waters when he realized he never came back to our table. We put in our food orders in the meantime- I ordered the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the roast beef sandwich with sweet potato fries. Drinks came out eventually and were huge/ice cold, which was nice. The food also came out within 10 minutes, which we had initially been happy about because we were so hungry and we still had an hour drive back to Indy. However, my Reuben sandwich had huge, thick chunks of meat vs thinly sliced beef and it was extremely hard to take bites of and took a long time to chew. I had to keep using my hands to rip pieces off the sandwich. There was also hardly any sauerkraut on it. My husband's roast beef sandwich had very little roast beef and absolutely no flavor, but was supposed to have a kick from the horseradish sauce. The sweet potato fries were good though, they just had a little too much salt on them. Overall, we had mixed reviews with our visit. Our beers were only $5.50 each, so that was a crazy good price. Not sure if it's just for trivia night or always like that. Several times throughout our visit we kept getting hit with the smell of cigarette smoke because the patio is off the main sidewalk and no one monitors that people are actually far enough away from the building. Super unpleasant. This is definitely a fun place to meet friends for drinks, but I'd pass on the sandwiches and see if other menu options are better.

Featured in the article was Miller's tenderloins. I say tenderloins plural, because they have 2 sizes. What they call a regular and a large tenderloin. Our friend ordered the large tenderloin $14.99. It comes a la carte BUT, the Tenderloin was huge. Now I bet some of you are thinking it couldn't be that big! Well I ordered the regular Tenderloin ($10.99) and it was enough for two people. The large was easily 3 times, if not more, than the size of mine. Our friend guessed the weight of the large one at 3 pounds or more. Additinally, the tenderloins are not paper thin. They are quite thick and meaty. Both wives got the whitefish sandwiches. We all had one common complaint. The batter on both the Tenderloin and fish were tasty, but too salty for our liking. I should mention we ordered fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms for appetizers. We all really enjoyed both. Eventhough this establishment is a Tavern, they only have like four draft beer taps. However, they offer a nice list of bottles and cans, with some craft beers. They have an open flame grill for burgers and steaks which makes for a pretty good aroma inside if your a carnivore. Next trip I'm getting a Burger! Service was friendly and accommodating.
