Great food, great service and great views! What a fun diner - we loved watching planes land and pilots come in for a meal.

Visited the Hangar today with my family for the first time. I want to start and say service was great. We were a large group and our server handled our needs well. Free Indiana Fried Biscuits were great! My girlfriend ordered the Flight #1 and I got the Eggs Benedict. Very peaceful dining room with a fantastic view of the Airfield. It was cool to watch some paratrooper practice drops. read more

My coworker and I gave this place a try after another coworker recommended it. My GPS found it perfectly, but I would have never known it was there had I not been told about it. Located inside the little airport, it has no signs outside or inside. The only way we knew we were in the right spot was due to the diner scent that led us to its door that had a small name decal on it. We arrived around noon on a Thursday and this place was PACKED!! What a view!!! So cool how you can see all the planes coming and going! Parking was really easy, too, since it's at the airport. We waited just a minute to be seated and the waitress greeted us promptly. Really the fastest service ever regardless of them being so busy. My coworker got the tenderloin and I opted for the breakfast all day option and got The Tomahawk. The chorizo was some of the best best I've ever had which was quite a surprise coming from a Columbus IN airport. I saw like 5 things on the menu I wanted to try so we'll definitely be back. I'm usually not a breakfast person but this place has made me crave breakfast. I can't get enough of the chorizo and hatch chili biscuits and gravy, unreal. Anything I've ever ordered from the menu has been great. The view while eating at the window booths is pretty cool too. This is how the food came out after finding hair in my orange juice and the waitress put her fingers around the rim of our glasses and went back to polishing forks and spoon behind us. I went there with my best friend for brunch on a Sunday. The service was abysmal. We ordered our drinks and meal at the same time since it took our server 10 minutes to come to our table. We waited a very long time for our drinks. In fact once our drinks arrived, our food came about a minute and a half later because the drinks took so long to get there. (And had to wait a long time for my single refill towards the end of our visit) My friend ordered the avocado toast. The avocado was literally shocking to me. It was completely brown. That would be bad enough- but there was *maybe* half of a tablespoon of avocado. A piece of bread is extremely cheap. What you're paying for is avocado and to be served half of a tablespoon is ridiculous. That being said since it was so brown, I'm not sure she would have wanted more of it. My lunch - chicken salad was pretty good. However, I can't get over the insult that my friend was served. If they ran out of avocado or didn't have any that was fresh, they should've asked her to order something else. To serve a guest entirely brown avocado + such a small amount is unacceptable. If I was writing it on her meal alone, it would be one, but since mine was good, I'm upgrading it to two stars. read more

The day after Thanksgiving nothing inspires like a great breakfast. Our party of 14 was seated after a short wait. We didn't know they didn't take reservations but our wait in the lobby was short and we got the chance to imagine what it would be like to fly out of or into the airport. I found and read one of the free brochures about the museum detailing the founding of the field and the operations. Lots of history here. One of my standards for reviewing a restaurant is the aroma I encounter when I enter the room. I sensed this was going to be a winner and I wasn't wrong. We were seated and presented with menus with lots of choices. I chose the Aterbury; eggs, ham steak or sausage, toast and potatoes. I chose ham and was delighted by a nice portion sizes and quick service. The dining room was full but the wait staff and kitchen staff were responsive in quickly turning around orders, keeping a vigilant eye out for beverage refills and always showing a smile. The host could have been on Dancing with Stars. He conducted the clearing and rearranging of tables as more guests poured in. In my years visiting Columbus I always find new surprises and this is the most recent. HANGER 5, I'll be back for lunch. read more

First time coming here with my wife, definitely enjoyed our experience eating here, it's a hole in the wall place located inside the Columbus airport, we were able to watch the planes come and go, we also saw two military choppers come in as well, our food was great my wife had the chicken fried chicken meal, I had the chicken strips they both were great and our waitress did a great job, and overall definitely enjoyed it and for sure coming back! read more

Looking out over the airport, watching planes take off and land while eating an excellent meal makes for a great breakfast/brunch. Anytime we are in Columbus, we make it a point to stop in. All of our food has been very good! Sundays can be very busy, so prepare for a bit of a wait. But, it is worth it. I've tried everything from the Breakfast Quiche to the Chorizo biscuits and gravy. It's all very good! Try the Indiana fried biscuits if you have a sweat tooth....AMAZING! This is a must stop if you're in the area....or looking for a place to fly to for a meal. read more

We moved to Columbus about 9 months ago from Avon, a town out outside of Indy. If you are familiar with Avon, there is no shortage of good restaurants in the area. Moving to Columbus was a shock of how few options there were to go out to eat here. We stumbled upon Blackerby's on doordash and have not been disappointed since. Breakfast is as close to homemade as you can get from a restaurant. Some of our favorites, are the biscuits and gravy, fantastic eggs Benedict, the giant cinnamon rolls, the bacon, the fried tenderloin at lunch. Food was really good. Good potions and prices. Hash browns were crispy and very good along with the omelet. Only thing I'd complain about is the cheese being on top (just a slice of cheese melted on top and not in the middle or anything) but other then that it was delicious. My husband and I tried The Hangar after a late church service in Columbus. Overall it was good with a few things being great. First off, do yourself a favor and order breakfast. My husband ordered a country fried steak off the lunch menu with mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. He said it may have been the worst fried steak he's ever ordered. So steer clear of that one. However, I had the breakfast tacos with chorizo....and OMG! I shared with my husband since his meal was subpar and I regret it! lol! They were so flavorful with the perfect amount of seasoning and crunch. It's served with side of fruit. We also got a cinnamon roll as an appetizer and it was just "ok". Nothing to write home about. We have gone here several times while visiting family in Columbus. As the title implies this restaurant is at the local airport with very easy access from local traffic and on our way when coming from Shelbyville. There is plenty of parking space and ample tables inside. I believe you can make a reservation there except on weekends when they seem to be quite busy. The view inside is worth the visit as there is a full wall view of the planes taking off and landing. It's not a super busy airport but great if you have kids in your group. The service is friendly and efficient in getting food prepared and served in a timely manner. The food is average but it's worth a visit for the ambiance. read more

What a delightful cafe inside the Columbus Airport. After parking (free) in the lot near the airport entrance, I walked into the lobby where I found the entrance to the restaurant on my left. The checkout/pay counter is located near the entrance and when you check in, they seat you in the dining room that overlooks the runways. The menu features lots of breakfast items, some lunch, and even some entrees that you might consider more dinner items, but since they close at 2 pm, you may feel like grabbing anyway. I started with a cup of tea. They use tea bags and the largest drinking mugs I've seen! I don't know exactly how large the cups are, but you may need to adjust your steeping times for your tea since there is so much hot water. And note that water is really hot, so it may take a while to cool enough to drink. Quickly, my "Taildragger Tenderloin" Sandwich (comes with fries) arrived. It was lightly breaded (which is fine since it also had a sweet tasting bun to go with it.) There was a bit of juice pooled on top and because the tenderloin was so moist, some of the breading fell off. Still, it tasted really good and did not get dry. I was able to get the works added including mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles. The fries were crisped and had minimal seasoning. And checkout was quick too. The food and coffee were not bad at all. The place is very clean, the bathrooms are clean. The food was good, it wasn't 5 star, but close. The staff was very nice. I was told 20 minutes and sadly had to wait 45 minutes, but they were very busy. I would gladly come back for food again during a different time. I got hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, and a pancake. The hashbrowns were a bit bland, the eggs were eggs, the bacon was good, the pancake was very tasty. The coffee was not bad at all. I will be back. read more

Chances are you'll be able to observe small planes landing or taking off, as the restaurant overlooks the tarmac. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I particularly enjoy the Veggie Omelet, Piper Potatoes, Wheat Toast and a Side of Fresh Fruit. The menu is awesome, my coworkers love the breakfast options here, particularly the Tomahawk, but I am a red meat kinda guy so I usually get Pot Roast or Meat Loaf. This is just the coolest place to eat breakfast, and it's absolutely possible that my rating is inflated with bonus stars because of my own giddy joy at being able to watch planes take off and land while I snarf down my eggs. But I genuinely enjoyed my breakfast and coffee, and you're bound to as well. We were fortunate to arrive at a time when there was no wait for a table, and the service for us was excellent. The interior and the menu are all aviation-themed, and the food includes your basic breakfast combos, plates, and a la carte items, from potatoes to eggs to pancakes. You've also got a few surprises, like savory BBQ waffles and some surprisingly good quiche. What a great find on our recent trip thru Columbus after going to the NCAA men's basketball tournament in Indianapolis. We stopped by this restaurant located inside the Columbus airport after hearing about it from locals. Don't worry about masks, there is no commercial air service, just private planes going in and out. Anyway, you know a place is good when on a late Sunday morning there is a line out the door and pilots waiting with passengers that have flown in by private plane. Inside you'll find a neat and clean restaurant with wall to wall views of the airfield which provides a constant flow of air traffic entertainment. The servers and host are very friendly and efficient despite the big crowd. In fact, the host told us it would be a thirty minute wait and they were right on the mark. Once seated I ordered the eggs benedict and substituted tomato and spinach for the ham. Once again they hit the mark. Eggs were perfect and hollandaise sauce was as good as anything I've had. Now if you are looking for a high end restaurant experience don't both stopping. However, if you are looking for big, flavorfull down home cooking this is the place for you.
