The Italian Food was truly the best I have ever eaten in the USA outside of Italy! Every time I go to a new (for me) Italian restaurant, I always order the lasagna. Why? Because one of my closest childhood friends is Italian and his grandmother was originally from a small town in Italy. She taught her daughter how to cook their family's recipes. I grew up eating home cooked authentic Italian dishes especially her Lasagna. I always compare each and every restaurant's Lasagna to his Mom's lasagna. The ONLY Italian restaurant that has ever come close and probably equal is Angotti's Italian Restaurant. The culinary Master Chef is Ingrid. She cooks everything to perfection! She uses the freshest food, meats, vegetables and pasta. She cooks EVERYTHING and does not cut any corners in order to bring out the true Italian flavors. She came out to talk to us: very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. She even brought out our meals and was there to answer any questions. That's the first time we have had the Master Chef come to our table to chat! Unbelievable! The decor, table and place settings exuded quiet elegance. We were able to converse with normal voices. The wine selection was chosen to complement the meals and to accommodate various taste preferences. All in all, we were impressed with whole experience of dining at Angotti's. Fresh and authentic Italian cuisine in downtown Columbus, Indiana. Ingrid is a wonderful chef and a great host. The atmosphere is cozy and fun at the same time. You feel welcomed and not rushed throughout your meal. The good tastes great and the presentation is eloquent. I have tried almost all of her dishes, as she rotates what is on the menu, and I have never been disappointed. My wife and I have date night here every 2 weeks on Friday night. Ingrid takes the time to chat with us and she makes us feel like part of her family. This is truly a remarkable place to enjoy great food and company. Was a little hard to find at first. You must have a reservation and we didn't but they were kind to go ahead and take us since no one was there yet. It was our anniversary! Nicely decorated with an Italian theme. Food is prepared daily and the menu is changed daily per the chef. We had fried ravioli for appetizer and was very tasty! We ordered the lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs. Both meals came with Caesar salad with homemade croutons (warm and so good) and bread. For dessert we had cannoli. Everyone was so nice! Where does one begin? To find such an amazing gem is a rarity. Ingrid (the owner/chef/visionary) is one of a kind. Do not be dissuaded by the location; worth a detour to Columbus, Indiana. Pass by the National Guard and airport and find yourself in a parking lot of the Elks Club - as well as a drive up ATM - and you might ask yourself, where am I going and how did I get here? Never mind the sign that it's for "Members Only"; we found our way through a very dark bar and a hallway reminiscent of a church hostel. Midway down you see a glimpse of what is coming...a Maître d' stand and an opening with a warm glow emanating from within. She was about to close, but greeted us with a very warm welcome and turned on the lights...a wonderfully dimly lit room adorned with old world Italian-Americana. Pictures of mafia bosses, jars of olives, and an espresso machine in the corner. She has no server tonight, Ingrid, a one woman show, and a tour-de-force. Her bright gleaming blue eyes cannot be missed despite the mask. We ordered a pedestrian cab sav from the Elks Bar next door - common but good nonetheless and an excellent sized pour. She brings out Caesar salad...the croutons are warm and delectable. The romaine is fresh and crunch. Just what I would expect, and fresh Parmesan to add. He got the lasagna...perfectly melted cheese with a minced pork and beef layering and tomato sauce with flavor for miles. I ordered a dish Ingrid states she just "dreamt up". Penne with cream sauce with sautéed shrimp and thinly sliced sausage topped with blanched cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. This food is fresh. The ingredients are real. And the taste...I felt like The Godfather himself would approve. We were her only customers. She could have turned us away. Instead she served us homemade chocolate mousse that was serious perfection - I could taste the heavy cream, and in the best way possible. Words cannot further express my absolute wonder with such a place. Go with an open mind, a smile, no expectations, and you will have one of the best experiences of your life. read more

I really love this restaurant but I do have a suggestion meant in a kind way. . We dined at Angottis this evening. I saw where bread was to be offered but we did not receive any. The food was excellent but I did feel rushed. We were eating our salad when less than half way thru the salad our meal came which was much to soon. I also feel water should be served at each meal with out asking. They seemed to be short staffed. Our waitress was very nice. I will return. read more

A friend an I went to lunch at Angotti's yesterday. We were so glad we did! It is so nice to have another choice downtown. The ambiance was lovely, quaint, and fun all at the same time! The owner and chef Ingrid was very friendly. I had spaghetti and meatballs and my friend had chicken parm with with angel hair pasta. Both delicious! The sauce on both plates was so good, very fresh; everything is made from scratch. Caesar salads were perfect. The croutons were light and crunchy, they could be addictive. I'm not sure I've ever bragged about croutons, but these were different and made the salad even more delicious. They are open for lunch 11-2 and dinner 4-9. The menus are new and different every day, so you won't find a menu online. This place is a gem and I would highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed! read more

I am overdue in writing this review, but it's a sincere as can be. I visited my Columbus relatives in April and we dined at Angotti's. My aunt had been there many times and knows my fondness for great Italian food. It did not disappoint! From the warm welcome, to the attentive and caring service, to the terrific food - everything was great. The staff cares about their guests and wants them to have great experience, and that shows. True concern for your guests is not something that can be "faked", but shows through loud and clear when it's present. I will want to return there again next time I'm in town. We were visiting out of town and looking for something special.. we wanted a local restaurant. This place is new, open to the public, and has a gorgeous dining area and courtyard has been rented out inside the Elks (which has a very underwhelming doorway and hall leading to the dining room). EVERYTHING in Angottis is homemade. Get Alfredo sauce to dip your bread into (not on the menu but just ask!!! Yummm)... it is insanely good. The croutons on the salad are handmade, buttery, and warm. The chicken on all the dishes is all so perfectly seasoned and fork tender!!! It's not dry and stick in your throat like so many other restaurants. The chef and owner Ingrid is delightful and absolutely wonderful with children. She's looking for some good help still but the help she currently has is delightful. The food is all made to order so it takes a few minutes longer but ABSOLUTELY worth every minute as it was all delicious. My 9 year old ate ALL of his chicken Parmesan and he normally would only eat spaghetti with Parmesan. If a kid loves it that much it's got to be mind blowing great. They gave us a great discount for my youngest (4 years old) giving her spaghetti and a meatball which had her absolutely satisfied. This place is truly special and a little piece of Italy... it was our pleasure to find this spot. Do not hesitate... check this place out and tell your friends and family. So glad we found Chef Ingrid again! Agnottis was amazing. The menu was full of great choices and it was hard to decide. We tried two appetizers, the fried ravioli that absolutely melted in our mouths and the kiddos go to mozzarella sticks. The homemade marinara was wonderful. We were so impressed with the entrees that we almost had no time for table talk. Tuscany chicken was to die for and the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was great. You know the food is amazing when two kiddos can't stop eating!! The waiter was patient, polite, and professional. Top notch service all the way around. We stay in Columbus at an RV spot once or twice a year and always try to support local business while there. We were very excited to try this place after reading the reviews. Well, we made it there, but never got to eat.. we were seated after a few mins standing by the hostess stand. Then... we sat. And sat. For close to 10mins as two waitresses walked by several times and never said a word or brought water. My husband warned me it was a private Elk club, recently gone public and that service might be bad. He was right. We got up and left and no one said a word. There were probably 10 tables seated and only 1 or 2 had food. The other looked tired and bored of waiting. So if you have time, go for it. But I wasn't in the mood to have a 2hr dinner. read more

I own a company right next door and have been trying to find time to try this place. Finally I get my family together and we show up at 5pm on a Thursday. Immediately I am asked if we made reservations. Looking into the restaurant there was 1 table taken out of 20+ tables open. 1 table and 20+ sitting empty.. I was told it would be more than an hour wait. Food might be amazing based on reviews but best of luck as I nor my family will be back. read more

Possibly the best Italian food we have ever had outside of being in Italy. Chef Ingrid is outstanding, both as a chef and for offering personalized and very caring attention. She is super accommodating and so personable. Recently our 5 year old granddaughter requested Angottis for her birthday dinner. This restaurant disappointed me as far as the food goes. The waitresses were fabulous but the food was very lackluster. I felt like I was eating food that was made very cheaply. I had the lasagna. It comes with a caesar salad that litterally had lettuce and bread that they buttered and lightly seasoned and bearly baked as croutons. It was honestly the worst caesar salad I've had. They then bring you bread which looks like they went to Walmart and grabbed a loaf of Italian bread from the bakery and had it sliced up. The lasagna was pretty good. It didn't lack anything. The hamburger to me seemed again pretty low grade in quality. For the amount of money they want for their food and experience for dining there I would say pass on this one. They do not serve wine because I was told they do not have their liquor license yet. You are supposed to call and reserve a table you not supposed to just walk in. We heard about this place from a friend and it was everything she said it was! The food was amazing. My husband had the lasagna and I had the fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. The sals was delicious with still warm, freshly made croutons. The kids meals come with ice cream for dessert. They brought my little one a chef hat and took her back to the kitchen to prepare her own ice cream!! My husband could not stop talking about the white sauce on the lasagna. We will for sure be back. Had dinner at Angotti's on 4/10/21 and I can honestly say it was some of the best food I have ever eaten. The mozzarella sticks were delicious and the marinara sauce for dipping was wonderful. The Caesar salad with the warm croutons that melted in your mouth and the lasagna were so good I didn't want to stop eating. Top off the meal with the cannolis and you have a great dining experience. I'm so glad we tried this restaurant out and will definitely be back for more! The servers were excellent as well and helped make the meal a special one.
