Oh wow, I guess the first thing I'd like to talk about was the wait. We were there for 2 hours. It was busy, but there were also open tables inside and outside. There was a waiter who came up to us after 25 minutes sitting there and asked us if someone seated us. I guess he thought we just sat ourselves. But no, the hostess had sat us. She apparently forgot to assign us a waiter/waitress. Also, if he hadn't stopped to ask we would have had no idea. So we finally get water after being there for 25 minutes. It took an hour and a half before we had food. The way they started bringing out food made absolutely no sense either. The last couple that arrived got their meal first and the people that I thought were just sitting out there enjoying their drinks, they had been waiting too.They were served last. They were there longer than we were, and they had kids. We had walked out together down the alley. She asked me how our meals were and I told her not good. She said neither were theirs. Getting to the meal. I ordered what I thought was a gourmet grilled cheese and some sweet potato slices. Pretty sure they sprayed an oil substance on the white bread that was supposed to be sourdough and it was supposed to have several different cheeses but all I tasted was cheddar. Oh and the best part was they burned it on both sides, blackest side down. Which to me, meant they were trying to hide it. I tried scraping the black off but couldn't get it off the down side because of the moisture. The waiter was right beside me while I was loudly scraping the bread. It was so loud because everyone else was eating because they were as hungry as I was. Anyway, the waiter was standing right beside me and never offered to bring out another one or take it off our bill. I know I could have asked for it to be not burned but seriously after an hour and a half wait. I wasn't willing to wait anymore. The sweet potatoes were good even though they were a little hard. I had a bite of the grilled cheese and just couldn't do it. My boyfriend's dinner was good but it was a half a cup of Alfredo with pasta and 6 pieces of chicken. It's like we were the last ones being served and that's all they had left. He ended up eating the burnt grilled cheese because he was still hungry. The only meal of the night that was good was the dogs. Also, the cheapest meal at $6.00. She had several chunks of moist grilled chicken in her pup meal. With the tip it was nearly $80.00. read more

It was a delightful dinner - the staff is familial and friendly, the place itself is rather old and has that charm for being a house lived-in. There are plenty of good options it seems on the menu, but I was moved to try the street tacos and that was a good choice. They're not "tacos" in the way you might expect, but they are delicious and paired well with the consommé. I had half a Fall Cobb (great choice) and the creme brûlée as well as a treat. Oooh my goodness this place is amazing! I've been here twice now and both times I left feeling overly full and very happy. The food is amazing, and they have so many options for dietary restrictions/preferences. Staff is always friendly, and the waiters are attentive to your needs. I love how they hang local art on the walls, it shows how much they value their community. Regarding ADA, they fall somewhere in the middle with trained service animals. They have been hesitant to allow me inside the restaurant with my service dog, but after discussing it, they allow me inside and helped me find good seating. Some rules of ADA are usually broken (asking too many questions, saying no at first, etc.), but after they see how trained my pup is, they usually are pretty apologetic and understanding. Every year around our anniversary we make a trip to brown county and start off the day at Ferguson House Bistro & Bar. We always get the Turkey cranberry melt that is like a thanksgiving leftover sandwhich but learned that it's only offered in November and we came a weekend early this year. If you come in November you need to try that sandwhich it's to die for! But either way their menu is fantastic. They had a fall inspired cocktail menu also that was so yummy! We had the crab stuffed mushroom, loaded baked potato soup, salmon patty sandwich with a side salad, and a very cheesy chicken of the week with asparagus and baked potato. I didn't like the crab stuffed mushroom, it was too sweet for me and I didn't like the texture of the filling which I think was imitation crab meat. The salmon patty sandwich was just ok for me as well, I wasn't loving the flavor. I enjoyed the side salad and the loaded baked potato soup was good as well. I heard no complaints about the chicken and baked potato. The asparagus were the thinnest ever and unfortunately overcooked. Service was friendly. Food was just ok and a bit overpriced. We went to this place with some friends who were celebrating their anniversary. My wife liked her shrimp and grits and I had one of the shrimp and it was good. However, I had the 10 ounce rib eye! I love steak and have it often. This steak was tough and had almost zero flavor. The potatoes were almost tasteless! Think ponderosa but without the extra sauce or common salt and pepper. I was extremely disappointed and I don't think any of us would go back. To say there was zero flavor is an understatement. One star because the shrimp was good. Absolutely new favorite place to eat in Nashville, now! It's only been open 1.5 years but it is so cute and unique, with some awesome history behind it. Pros: great and super friendly service, unique food (we got the leak cashew dip, shrimp, and soups), they have a vegetarian and non vegetarian soup of the day every day, very vegetarian friendly, great cocktails (but they do have a full bar, as well), lots of natural light, outdoor seating and a biergarten, they offer a local discount and a discount if you watch a show at the playhouse that day (15% discount). Cons: have yet to find one! Maybe that it's a haunted house? That's not really a con in my books, though!! I found this wonderful restaurant and beer garden while wondering around on the Southwest side of Nashville Indiana on a sunny afternoon. The tempting smells coming from the kitchen exhaust fan blowing out into the courtyard drew us in like Hansel and Gretle. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we entered and seated within seconds. The lunch special was advertised outside on a chalk board and inside on another chalk board listed the BLT and a side for $16. Our server was very bubbly and seem truly happy to be there. She went through the menu and gave us our drink options. I opted for the Bloody Mary and my wife had the mango Margarita. Both drink were delicious and the garnish of an Olive, grapefruit, lime and lemon slice with a large piece of Bacon on the Bloody Mary was awesome. Forgot the pictures of the drinks due to devouring the garnish as soon as I received my drink. The margarita received high praise from my wife who is not much of a drinker. We had ample time to enjoy our drinks and then our food arrived. The presentation was beautiful and we didn't leave a crumb on the plate. The fresh bread was delicious and we would recommend the BLT if it's available when you stop by. The Caesar salad was my wife's side and I had the soup of the day which was Broccoli and cheese. The soup was ok but just needed a little seasoning, which I quickly remedied with salt and pepper. The dinner specials listed sounded amazing and next time we are in town I think we found our favorite spot to visit. Was excited to have my birthday lunch at Ferguson House from reading other YELP reviews. I ordered the fall turkey wrap that the menu said came with a side. The sides listed at the bottom of the menu reflected, potato salad, pasta salad, side salad and soup du jour. They were out of soup which I understood due to the 30 degree day. However I learned there was a $2.00 up charge for the side salad and yet no up charge for the pasta, potato salads or chips. I spoke with the manager and she again firmly confirmed the side salad had the up charge. I realize this is only $2.00, however it is the principle of the menu stating that the side was included. The sandwich was $14.00 and tasted pretty good. I will not return. read more

It was so dry we could barely eat it. Our server was nice and after speaking to the manager, came back with taking the chicken off the salads and 15% off the bill, which I thought was weak. When the bill came she took off 15% but did not take the chicken off. I never complain but we all 4 of us had something wrong with the meal. I had a lovely Mother's Day Brunch at The Ferguson House today. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about the food and decided this was the place I wanted to celebrate being a mom. I'm so glad I did. Let's start with the quaint Century House turned into a Bistro, it's beautiful with a very comfy atmosphere, lovely artwork on the walls. The vibe was fantastic. Our server, Rose, was fantastic; she knew her menu and was great while explaining the vast menu and the specials to our party of 6. Now to the food... OMG it was off the hook, it was hard to pick just 1 thing, so we all ordered something different off the Brunch Menu. Shrimp and Grits, Bistro Bagel and Lox, Peanut Butter and Jelly Jalapeno Bacon Burger (yes, you read that right, and it was insanely delicious), Polenta Eggs Benedict, 2 different quiches, Biscuits and Gravy (better than Grandma's). Peach Bellinis and Bloody Marys were incredible. WOW is all I can say, every single dish was FABULOUS!! Flavors bursting from every bite. My hat is off to the chefs, you're magicians, who made our experience magical with your amazing dishes. Even our dog loved it, he had a pup cup of vanilla ice cream! I've not seen that on many menus, I loved it (so did he). What a nice touch. The restaurant was packed and super busy, the service was with a smile, and the food was insanely good. The only question I have is.... Why did I wait so long to come to Ferguson House? We will so be back to enjoy more yummy food. Though we go in to Nashville often, this is our first time trying the Ferguson House - and it definitely won't be our last! Service can be hit or miss in Nashville - but our server Emma was a rock star! She was super personable and very attentive. And the food - OMG! The red pepper hummus and brussels sprouts were great apps (and I don't like brussels sprouts usually). My hubs got the reuben and said it was one of the best he's ever had. He got the chili as a side - and it was really really perfect. I got the southwest wrap with some of the best potato salad I've had in awhile. Our friends got the pit beef sandwich - very good. But the star of the meal was the bison burger that our friend ordered. He inhaled it so fast that he honestly considered ordering a second - it was that good. I want to make sure to mention: get the Roasted Corn & Bacon dip. Honestly, that was the highlight of our lunch there. The Ferguson House is very clean and bright and I loved the various art that was on the walls; it certainly was a nice reprieve from the dreariness outside when we visited Nashville on a dreary weekend in March. That said, a little extra heat from the furnace and the oven would have been appreciated. I'm sure the temp of the dining room was fine, but not particularly warm, but I'm also sure the temps of our flatbread and paninis were ever present.
