    Chicken strip
    Rusty V.

This place has odd hours. We tried to eat here 3 times and they were finally open today. Staff was nice the good was coooed to order. We get chicken strips and liver. The strips are run of the mill frozen and so are the frys. The liver was also frozen and they over cooked it. It was good but a little to salty for my taste. Mine came with mashed potatoes they were instant potatoes they were good for instant and coleslaw but I chose to get macaroni and cheese mac & cheese only and cheese was very bland and had no flavor. I got a lemonaide that was very good and my wife got a Heath bar flurry that was also good.

Soup, sandwich and ice cream. Really good food. Best pricing. Local, not a chain. Service that's worth tipping.

In the morning there was a little fog over the Ohio which made for a nice atmosphere. The atmosphere is typical casual for a Riverside type of restaurant. The wait staff was very nice and efficient. For supper most of us had the fish special which was either catfish or whitefish. The catfish was very good but the white fish was a little undercooked and somewhat mushy. The Johnny cakes cornbread were cold and not great flavor. So the supper was good but not great. For breakfast most of us had eggs bacon toast pancakes and coffee. The eggs were cooked as ordered, the bacon was crispy, and the pancakes were superb. I eat mine without any butter or syrup and they had an excellent flavor despite the lack of those extras. We tried an order of goetta as most in our group had never tasted it before. I don't really like it but I liked their version. For those who don't know goetta is a combination of beef pork spices and oatmeal that is cooked like a flat sausage patty and is very popular in the Cincinnati area. We were two full to try the desserts but they look pretty good. The price for what you get was very good as well. We would definitely go here again if we are back in the area.

My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a Winter Spiced Old Fashioned. Whenever I order a cocktail that has cinnamon in it I always worry about the cinnamon overpowering the drink but this cocktail was perfectly balanced and I would order it again. Our waitress, Darri, told us what the specials were when she took our drink order. The specials of the day were a steak pasta and steak tacos. The hubby ordered the steak tacos, they came with fries. I ordered the Red Combo, half Caesar salad and a small bowl of soup which today was crab and shrimp bisque. The hubby said his tacos and fries were very good. My bisque was pretty thin but the flavor was really good. My salad was good as well. The restaurant had wood floors and brick walls making for a cozy lunch. I was told I need to come in to try the dinner and I think we will. Definitely worth a try while in Madison, Indiana.

Rodney's is a genteel bar/eatery in a restored house with an upmarket seafood & steak menu, plus outdoor seating. For our opening course, we tried the Sea Divers Scallops. These were tandoori-rubbed and served with a sweet Thai chili sauce. The scallops had a good sear and a slight crunch, with the tandoori rub offering a mild, earthy kick and a hint of chili powder flavor. The scallop was light and melted in your mouth. The Thai chili sauce added a sweet heat combo that complemented the scallops perfectly. We then shared the Lobster Bisque, which our server recommended. The bisque was very creamy, with a slightly thicker, velvety texture than typical bisques. It was so creamy that it almost tasted like it had cheese in it, which it did not. It had a salty, slightly paprika-spiced flavor, while the sherry added a slight nutty note. This was an excellent dish and worth the drive itself. For my main course, I ordered the Lamb Chops. They were char-grilled with roasted garlic mint demi-glace and the Potato de jur, which is smoked Gouda au gratin. My lamb was spot-on medium-rare; however, the char was a little hard and bitter, especially on the edges. This was present in most bites. The mint sauce added a touch of sweetness and depth to the meat's flavor. The potatoes were cooked through and offered a slight chew. The Gouda was creamy and nutty, pairing well with the potatoes, though it needed a bit more seasoning. My wife chose the Filet for her main course. She ordered it medium rare with Weisenberger white cheddar grits and green peppercorn cream sauce. Her grits were cooked well and not overdone; the cheddar was only topped on the dish and not melted into it, but it did offer a sharp bite. We both found them to be bland and in need of seasoning. The peppercorn sauce was creamy, with the onions adding texture, crunch, and a slight sweetness, while the peppercorns popped with flavor and mild heat. The steak was seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare; it melted in your mouth. However, the hard char on the edges added a heavy, bitter flavor to most bites. Rodney's menu features appetizers, soups, salads, prime beef selections, entrees, side dishes, and desserts. They offer a full bar with beer and soda selections. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will offer suggestions and advice. The Fat Man says that Rodney's on Broadway is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.
