Owners of a local business mentioned this establishment, among others in the area, as a good option for lunch, and we were not disappointed! The grill is a small town diner with tasty food. We started with iced tea, unsweetened for Hubby and a blend of sweetened and unsweetened for me. The special of the day was chicken fried steak with two sides, of which I chose mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Hubby chose off the menu, ordering an open face roast beef sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. The portions were generous and filled our hungry tummies. We were looking for a nice local Spot to take the family for lunch after a day at Elk Creek Hunt Club. We were a group of 8. We were greeted by the sweetest waitress. She was the most lovely server. I watched her make conversation with every person who cane in the restaurant door. Upon our Servers recommendation, I tried the special. It was delicious! Fried Chicken, two sides and a roll. If I could leave zero stars, I would. We were traveling through town, and wanted to try something local so we passed on Hometown Pizza...big mistake! Food was way overpriced for sub par food. Portions were very small. I just wasted a hard earned $50 to feed my family, including 3 kids. $10 for a tiny salad. Truly disappointed and feel sick after the greasy "taco" salad... Was coming into town for business and saw this spot for lunch. A co worker and I stopped. They had a daily special that was a great deal if I didn't have to drive. Catfish with two sides and a desert. I saw it served and it looked great! They also had salmon patties on special. I had a cheeseburger deluxe with fries. And a coke. Service was fast and attentive. The fries were spot on. I Ben had to bang on the ketchup bottle to get some. Lunch with tip was around 10 dollars. I will be back when I come back into town. read more

While on vacation, checking out various Abraham Lincoln locations, we found this wonderful little diner. The food & service were just great. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the chicken livers. He stated that these were the most flavorful & tender livers that he had EVER had anywhere! If back in Kentucky again, this will be a must go for us! read more

They have a delicious breakfast! If you're in Owenton, this is the place to come for breakfast. Their dinner items are good southern food--the country ham is wonderful and salty just the way country ham should be. For lunch, I like to order a grilled cheese and vegetable soup. It's like the grilled cheeses my mom made for me as a kid, American cheese and white bread; nothing fancy but it's great comfort food. The decor is very country charm with beautiful wood tables made by a local. The service is always fantastic. Edit: it looks like it's now smoke free (according to the sticker on the door)! This is one of the many amazing restaurants in Owenton, not only are the servers super friendly and kind, but the cheeseburger is straight out of a fantasy. After you finish your double cheeseburger with onion rings, you have to try the dessert, the apple pie is so good i would have had it twice if no one ever gained weight or got to full to press on. Their chocolate delicacies are also very good. Prices are good, it's about ten bucks for lunch if you get the cheeseburger with onion rings and dessert. read more

Saturday's lunch special is the one of the best chicken-fried steaks I have ever tasted. Homemade coconut cream pie with a large delicious meringue is a nice meal-chaser and I have never left not full or satisfied. The green beans taste home-canned and remind me of summer suppers at my grandmother's farm in my childhood. So worth the drive. read more
