    Chili cheese footlong
    Danielle N.

We had to try shells just to say we did. This was the fourth or fifth time trying to eat here and we finally succeeded. I got the foot long chili cheese dog and a thing of loaded crinkle cut french fries. They had cheese and bacon on top. My husband got a burger. The best thing we got was my loaded crinkle cut fries. They were super hot and super crunchy. The footlong dog was ok, you could tell it had been sitting in boiling water for a while. And my husband asked for a plain double bacon cheeseburger and it came with everything on it. Overall an ok place that's local and better than fast food.

50's deco is done up right. Reasonably price and delicious food. We had the Cheese hoagie and chicken wrap with cheese fries. Everything done up well. Also don't forget to get ice cream in one of the specialty dipped cones

First time stopping by and we both got small Hurricanes. They were overflowing from the cup. Way better than Dairy Queen.

In the morning there was a little fog over the Ohio which made for a nice atmosphere. The atmosphere is typical casual for a Riverside type of restaurant. The wait staff was very nice and efficient. For supper most of us had the fish special which was either catfish or whitefish. The catfish was very good but the white fish was a little undercooked and somewhat mushy. The Johnny cakes cornbread were cold and not great flavor. So the supper was good but not great. For breakfast most of us had eggs bacon toast pancakes and coffee. The eggs were cooked as ordered, the bacon was crispy, and the pancakes were superb. I eat mine without any butter or syrup and they had an excellent flavor despite the lack of those extras. We tried an order of goetta as most in our group had never tasted it before. I don't really like it but I liked their version. For those who don't know goetta is a combination of beef pork spices and oatmeal that is cooked like a flat sausage patty and is very popular in the Cincinnati area. We were two full to try the desserts but they look pretty good. The price for what you get was very good as well. We would definitely go here again if we are back in the area.

You don't just get a meal here, you get something memorable. The Red consistently delivers elevated dining without ever losing that small-town heart. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a Winter Spiced Old Fashioned. Whenever I order a cocktail that has cinnamon in it I always worry about the cinnamon overpowering the drink but this cocktail was perfectly balanced and I would order it again. Our waitress, Darri, told us what the specials were when she took our drink order. The specials of the day were a steak pasta and steak tacos. The hubby ordered the steak tacos, they came with fries. I ordered the Red Combo, half Caesar salad and a small bowl of soup which today was crab and shrimp bisque. The hubby said his tacos and fries were very good. My bisque was pretty thin but the flavor was really good. My salad was good as well. The restaurant had wood floors and brick walls making for a cozy lunch. I was told I need to come in to try the dinner and I think we will. Definitely worth a try while in Madison, Indiana.

We started with the sauer kraut balls, pretzel with beer cheese, and pickle fries. All were delicious! The pickle fries have a great pickle to breading ratio, will gladly order these again! Would not have been a bad choice - and for sure they have good chicken. But the choice to eat at the Brau Haus was almost like dying and going to heaven. It's a smaller place than I expected. But honestly - get over it really quick. You can not get chicken like they make anywhere I have been - not in Indianapolis. What ever the price I paid to drive there 75 minutes away? It was worth it. We ordered the chicken dinner for 2. And it came with a small portion of slaw..or a salad. Me and the wife are slaw people. And it was small...but really yummy. But not too long after - the star attraction arrived. A large place of chicken, 10 pieces..(not little weenie pieces) and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans along with a few rolls and butter. The chicken was truly so hot - I had to pace myself eating because you could really see the steam coming off of it. But the skin...and the coating? My grandmother has passed many years ago - but I would have had to tell her she has serious competition. This chicken was surely what they serve if you get lucky enough to end up in heaven. The sides - the green beans and mashed potatoes were crazy good too and plenty warm. Our very pleasant waitress was Dawn and she was there to help with anything we needed. This truly is the tenderest most moist chicken you are going to get. I wanted to enjoy their pie also - but there was just no room in my belly and we were too far from home to cart 3 or 4 big pieces. I plan on taking that trip down I74 on the regular. It's a beautiful drive and quite honestly - Oldenburg is a super great place to visit. And for me - no need to try anyone elses chicken. I know where the best is.

I'll apologize now; my pic is so blurry I hesitate to post it, but I'm going to anyway. The other person having the Pork Tenderloin also enjoyed it. Mark ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown. He said it was loaded with ham and it was salty. He finished every bite, but he did say he wouldn't order it again. One person loved her Cod (she didn't eat the bread) and another said the shrimp and grits were very good. The menu has lots of options. I mentioned we would be happy to come back sometime for dinner. We bought some chocolate cookies (they are by the hostess podium) on the way out. They had a nice chocolate and salt flavor, but should have had more chips.
