We had a very good lunch ordering the sauerkraut balls, chicken dinner for two and German potato salad. Chicken was cooked perfectly, crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The breading has a hint of pepper, very good. The sauerkraut balls were very good. The German Potato salad is old school delicious, fantastic flavors and texture, no skin on the potatoes. Our server told us it was her mom's recipe. Nice list of German beers, we chose the Spaten Oktoberfest that was on tap. The service was as expected. Fair warning the men's restroom is small and only one person can fit in there.

Had to hunt for a waitress and when we got one she acted like we were killing her for being there. The fried chicken was over peppered and over fried. I heard so much praise over the fried chicken and was sorely disappointed. Cole slaw was good. Won't be back

Don't be fooled by the name of the restaurant- the menu offers a variety of salads, seafood, sandwiches, German dishes, and their much-talked-about fried chicken. I ordered the half chicken basket with a side salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and dinner rolls. The chicken was crispy and lightly seasoned and the sides were good. Outdoor dining on the deck. There are minimal parking places so be prepared to walk a short distance. Suggest reservations.

Problems here. Service very very very slow. There was a sewer smell in the eating area (seemed to be sewer gas back up not sewer on the floor, probably coming from a drain in kitchen or bathroom). The tenderloin sandwich I got was delicious and a huge portion. The fried chicken the women got was also delicious along with the sweet potato fries. Bean burger was too spicy for my daughter to eat (and she is a pretty discerning vegetarian food critic). Bathroom space was limited. $60 for three people is not bad for a sit down restaurant. The service was just so bad (not sure if the kitchen had anything to do with it, but the waitress (while pleasant) was ignoring our table. I took some very loud to the point of rude, " Excuse me," to get any attention. I am not sure we will be back; there are better options in the area.

I ordered the Jägerschnitzel with kraut on the side. I enjoy a good kraut--this is the best I've had. The schnitzel was crispy and juicy and the mushroom gravy did its part to pull the dish together without overpowering it or making it bland. We visited on a Saturday evening, and were able to be seated right away. Our server was helpful, suggesting a dish for our picky toddler, and the food came out quickly. In the spirit of full disclosure, the house was not packed. We were one of 4 or 5 tables dining at the time. In sum, this is a restaurant that impressed me, and did a good enough job that I was inspired to write my first Yelp review. I recommend if you are in Seymour or the surrounding area.

The server seemed dazed and confused. We asked him questions but he didn't seem to know anything. We absolutely love German food so we were excited. However, this wasn't really German food. First, how does a German restaurant not have German beer on tap? Then I ordered the schnitzel. It wasn't pounded out correctly and was too thick to be considered schnitzel. The breading had no seasoning. My husband (vegetarian) ordered the veggie melt, which was on the menu, but he was told they no longer make it. He ended up getting a "sides plate." When it arrived, there were 4 of the smallest portions of sides ever. Why not just make spaetzel a main dish? Voila, you have a vegetarian option! My daughter ended up getting a pretzel because the spaetzel she wanted had too many other ingredients in it for her liking. That's on us not the restaurant. Overall, as German restaurant connoisseurs, we were disappointed.

I've driven by the Bakery, so many times and wanted to stop, but I was always in a hurry. My sister and I went in and we each got a dessert and because it was four in the afternoon, we got decaffeinated coffee. We just took our time and looked around and laughed at so many signs and odd little things that were placed over the years. On the way to the ladies room, you will find out that the gentleman that started the restaurant fought in one of the world wars, and you will see his worn out shoes, his uniforms, his letters of accommodation and Learn his story. Now let's get to the desserts. We shared some type of a wonderful lemon pastry and a black forest cake. Best black forest cake I've ever had. Savored every bite. We were able to buy the last of the springle's that they had made from Christmas. FYI, if you don't like black licorice don't buy Springerle's but you can only get them at Christmas because it's a German tradition and they won't work in the summertime because of the humidity. Things that I learned that day. We saw that they had a dinner menu with a huge variety of different bratwurst and assorted sausages that we would like to try sometime. We ended up spending an hour and a half in a beautiful little place that we thought we were just going to stop and grab desserts to go.

When we went on a Friday night, there was live music on the biergarten's patio, but it was so loud that even indoors, you could not hear your conversation. Upon arrival, even though we had a reservation, and there were only four other tables dining, service was pretty slow to be seated and the poor waitresses seemed overwhelmed. I will say the waitstaff is exceptionally friendly, even with a busier biergarten. The food, I'm sorry to say, leaves much to be desired. Presentation is unappetizing, and as some other Yelpers have mentioned, the meal is definitely not a feast for the eyes. I wish I could say the flavor was better, but everything was bland and underseasoned. My husband, who's never met a sauerkraut he didn't adore, could not even finish his meal. The portions are small for the price, but honestly, the flavor was so underwhelming it didn't matter how much was on the plate. The decor seems very throwback, replete with tourist tchotchkes and and faded pictures of Germany. The restaurant sits on the Miami river which was very picturesque. They had a bier garden complete with a stage for live performances. We were waited on quickly and they carried Warsteiner, which we enjoyed! We had a friendly and efficient server. The first item we ordered was the Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was a decent size and tasty. The bier cheese, however, missed the mark for me. It didn't even resemble any beer cheese I ever had. And unfortunately, I ordered my broccoli with that cheese! My husband ordered the Kaiser burger--which sounded substantial and delicious. And I ordered the Mettwurst and sauerkraut. The portion sizes were great! But let me just say--they are no Hofbräuhaus! Not at all! Not even close. The only thing I managed to eat was the Mettwurst and only a few bites and it wasn't that great. And then the potato pancakes? They were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We were starving and disappointed. But coupled with fatigue we were just happy to have eaten and gotten on our way home. The restaurant was pretty packed by the time we left. And people seemed to be enjoying their food. So we may try it one more time--especially because the venue was very German inspired. Our bill came to about 100 with tip. There are several small cozy dining rooms for larger groups, a main dining room, plus outdoor seating. The pork schnitzel was delectable, pounded thin, tender, right amount of breading, and the amazing schwine sauce on top which is apple cider vinegar based, perfect sweet/sour mix. Also on top comes bits of thick chewy bacon, and nice big slices of well cooked onion. It's a master dish. After I chose it, my husband ordered the same thing and we both loved the meal. The potato pancake is real German style, very dense but nicely seasoned. Add sour cream. They had 10 beers on tap and numerous bottled options. Full bar. Not a lot of wine choices but that is not a concern of mine. The atmosphere just screams BEER to me. Or, more accurately, BIER. I had a pint of Shiner Shandy which was cold and citrusy and perfect.
