Ham and turkey double decker
Alan G.

Found this place due to a couple of other restaurants being closed on a Monday. Very small "hole in the wall" place mom and pop place. They are only opened until 2 everyday so they serve breakfast all day with standard lunch items and some dinner plates. So I went with a coney and a 5 way and my wife for a double decker and cheese fries. When the food came out we were surprised the portion size and it was a lot of food as you can see from the pictures. The chili was a Cincinnati style and meaty and had a good taste. The coney was good but the bun was soggy and falling apart because there was sauce in the chili and not dried. The double decker was huge and I am particular on the ham as some places will use boiled ham which is not tasty but this ham had flavor. The turkey was not dried as well and had a good taste. The cost was reasonable to today's standard but you get a lot more food. The service was great and the waitress was helpful and told us when a good time to arrive to get a seat since this place was limited on seating. We will be going back to try other items on the menu.

This was an adorable restaurant that actually serves breakfast all day perfect if you're craving breakfast at like 3pm. I got two eggs with ham and a side of home fries - well the term "home fries" is somewhat misleading since they are hash browns if we're being honest here - but it was quite yummy! My two "business associates" got a cheeseburger with the onion rings and a BLT which they said were fantastic. Vibes might seem a bit weird, at first, if you are under the age of 30, but overall, pretty cute place with good food and super friendly staff. Yeah I would eat here again.

Great omelettes and service. Ordered over medium eggs and they came perfect.

Nice local place. Family owned with good food and service. Ordered over medium eggs and the were perfectly cooked!

Goetta is a local thang. Potatoes were great, could not finish. Coffee is standard-issue, middle-America, watered down stuff.

We stopped here for breakfast based on fellow yelper reviews. You guys did not let me down again. Clean, friendly restaurant with good-sized portions and reasonably priced. Extra points for a clean restroom. I am glad I asked for the daily special cuz it included goetta and you can only get it in these parts!

breakfast special: 2 proteins, starch, other protein, other starches, coffees

on the way back home from central america I got to feeling hungry about midday, I figured to get an oil change while taking a meal nearby except it's southwestern Ohio where oil is not changed on Sunday... fortunately, Nick's Place shows up on Yelp as close and reasonable on all counts to save the day! yea breakfast! It's a super casual seat-yourself type of place and I have a choice of a table for six or four; I opt for the small table and water, coffee, and a menu arrive shortly. breakfast special was satisfying: coffee black, 2 eggs up w/ bright yolks poking up from firm cooked whites, large pile of fried taters w/ onions, four halves of rye toast, plus a generous slab of goetta (a loose sausage consisting of ground porks, beefs, and pin oats with a taste reminiscent of farm life) and more coffee. finished with a bright yellow slice of meringuey lemon pie and more coffee. all in all Nick's is a nice family run place that sets a good table at a fair price. The staff is friendly and seem in good spirits, Nick is in the back, Mrs Nick is up front, and son-of-Nick is helping out with the tables. the decor is functional but not stark and most of the patrons are local and decent but a couple could be photo shopped and never be missed ;-)

The food is great. Had the double decker ham and turkey and fries. The only thing preventing a Five star is purely one of taste for me personally. The fries had a slight taste of sharing oil with something else. Not a biggie. One other thing--this isn't a negative just something to be aware of. The double decker is so tall it is unmanageable. The sandwich came apart because the meat is stacked so high. I recommend the regular sandwiches if this is an issue.

Food was good. But, expensive. $11.60 for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and a water. That is ridiculous.

Food tasted like it came out of a can and then warmed up. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were awful.

Very good food. The menu is varied; there's something for everyone. Many seniors there so you know the food is good and the prices are fair

The stuffed mushrooms? Yes! But the 8oz. Filet (medium plus) F*********** yes! Not only did the food serve well beyond my taste buds needs, the service was 10/10, the ambiance was, as they say, Lit, and the evening was great. If you haven't been here for dinner, stop trying to impress your partner with O'Charley's. I promise you, she'll enjoy the steak here more. ** visit the men's restroom for a weird chair **

We were surprised the place got nearly full before noon on a Tuesday. Very classy old school ambiance including an attractive bar. It was romantically dark inside. We had just come in from a blazing summer morning and this atmosphere was welcome. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with added chicken. It was comforting but the chicken was pretty bland chunks. I was disappointed it did not have grill marks as my friend's grilled chicken sandwich did. My dish would have been so much more appealing with a little bit of parsley garnish and an offer of cracked pepper. My other friend had the soup & salad lunch and the goat cheese salad was a beautiful presentation. We all agreed the food was good, though there was no wow factor - other than those wavy French fries. Our waitress was pleasant and checked on us appropriately. She also cleared up the mystery of the restaurant's name; turns out that once upon a time, Harrison Avenue was known as Market Street. We couldn't help but notice the crowd was overwhelmingly in their golden years. I am early Generation X and I felt like I was in the youngest 10 percent of the patrons. This was a weekday early lunch so I'm sure the crowd is different at other times. I would likely check this place out again if in the vicinity.

Hostess asks for my name, finds my reservation, and says she doesn't know how long it's going to be. Then another lady grabs the tablet from her and yells at her to stop seating walk ins when they're fully booked with reservations and they have no tables. Needless to say we were not seated anywhere near our reservation time. Our waitress was typical of the current terrible service in the restaurant industry. Takes order, brings drinks, and you never see them again until they bring the check. They have food runners bring the food out, so if you need anything, they just look at you like a deer in the headlights and walk away. We really liked the food, which is why I gave 4 stars. The pretzel with beer cheese appetizer is worth driving there for. The burger was very tasty and prepared well. I'll agree with other people in that it is a little too pricey. The appetizers shouldn't be the same price or higher than entrees, and the $3+ sodas are just ridiculous. I can see how some people think it's too loud in there, but I guarantee tonight was as packed as they get, and we didn't think it was too bad. I like the style of the place and the seats were pretty comfy. We would eat here again if we're in the area.
