Found this place due to a couple of other restaurants being closed on a Monday. Very small "hole in the wall" place mom and pop place. They are only opened until 2 everyday so they serve breakfast all day with standard lunch items and some dinner plates. So I went with a coney and a 5 way and my wife for a double decker and cheese fries. When the food came out we were surprised the portion size and it was a lot of food as you can see from the pictures. The chili was a Cincinnati style and meaty and had a good taste. The coney was good but the bun was soggy and falling apart because there was sauce in the chili and not dried. The double decker was huge and I am particular on the ham as some places will use boiled ham which is not tasty but this ham had flavor. The turkey was not dried as well and had a good taste. The cost was reasonable to today's standard but you get a lot more food. The service was great and the waitress was helpful and told us when a good time to arrive to get a seat since this place was limited on seating. We will be going back to try other items on the menu. read more

Two items at Nick's are definitely worth a mention. First, the Double Decker Sandwiches rock! Much, much bigger than local competition. You better squeeze those tennis balls to build up your grip strength to handle these monsters. The best west of Vine street in Cincinnati to the Indiana state line. Second, the four-way onion is huge! it is easily as big as the Large at Skyline for much less $. They have Tobasco sauce too, if you want the best! Plenty of other good items on the menu. Holy crap. Best over medium fried eggs I have ever had. Anywhere. Ever. They've been there 23 years & the dining room regularly fills up, but it's not hard to get a table. Generous portion of ham, really pleased with that. Total dinner feel , all locals except me. Very nice people. The bacon at the table next to mine looked very large and cooked to perfection. They close at 2 PM, and if they need to no more -- occasionally they have to scale down or even close for a morning if a staff member needs an MRI or whatnot. I see it as simply as this; they don't overstaff, which would drive up prices, and they care enough about their employees to keep them healthy. And The eggs!!!! read more

This was an adorable restaurant that actually serves breakfast all day perfect if you're craving breakfast at like 3pm. I got two eggs with ham and a side of home fries - well the term "home fries" is somewhat misleading since they are hash browns if we're being honest here - but it was quite yummy! My two "business associates" got a cheeseburger with the onion rings and a BLT which they said were fantastic. Thought I'd try this place bc of the good reviews. Small w about 10 tables inside. Ordered coffee no cream. Cups are 6oz served on a saucer. Wished they were larger. I think a limited breakfast menu but ordered 2 eggs MW, goetta and wheat toast. Goetta is a local spam like meat. Asking if I wanted potatoes, I asked how they're cooked; on the flattop grill with a liquid soybean oil to prevent sticking. (Terrible for the body causing inflammation and visits to a Dr ultimately). I passed on the potatoes! She assured me that oil wasn't used on the rest of the order. The meal was tasty and I got real butter with my toast! That was good, eggs were just right and the goetta was pretty tasty too! (Almost afraid to ask what it was made from? Like a ground up pattie). Only 3 stars bc of the soybean oil! Switch to butter and your customers will live longer to visit you more! read more

It's small and the breakfast menu may not be expansive, but what they have is very good. The breakfast special is my standard order. on the way back home from central america I got to feeling hungry about midday, I figured to get an oil change while taking a meal nearby except it's southwestern Ohio where oil is not changed on Sunday... fortunately, Nick's Place shows up on Yelp as close and reasonable on all counts to save the day! yea breakfast! It's a super casual seat-yourself type of place and I have a choice of a table for six or four; I opt for the small table and water, coffee, and a menu arrive shortly. breakfast special was satisfying: coffee black, 2 eggs up w/ bright yolks poking up from firm cooked whites, large pile of fried taters w/ onions, four halves of rye toast, plus a generous slab of goetta (a loose sausage consisting of ground porks, beefs, and pin oats with a taste reminiscent of farm life) and more coffee. finished with a bright yellow slice of meringuey lemon pie and more coffee. all in all Nick's is a nice family run place that sets a good table at a fair price. The staff is friendly and seem in good spirits, Nick is in the back, Mrs Nick is up front, and son-of-Nick is helping out with the tables. the decor is functional but not stark and most of the patrons are local and decent but a couple could be photo shopped and never be missed ;-) read more

The food is great. Had the double decker ham and turkey and fries. The only thing preventing a Five star is purely one of taste for me personally. The fries had a slight taste of sharing oil with something else. Not a biggie. One other thing--this isn't a negative just something to be aware of. The double decker is so tall it is unmanageable. The sandwich came apart because the meat is stacked so high. I recommend the regular sandwiches if this is an issue. read more

From the front door to the cashier stand, COVID-19 precautions are taken and taken very seriously. I am very impressed and pleased that this business is doing their absolute best to prevent/slow the spread of this pandemic. Now, let's talk about service... TOP NOTCH! 6 on her alone. Her name is Pamela. She is a dear lady, fast, personal, and on top of her game. She greets you as you walk in and informs you that masks stay on! She's very serious. She is also very polite. When I say serious about the COVID-19 thing, I mean it. She is sanitizing a table as I type this. Any open table and she has a spare second, she's on it. The entire time I called her (to myself) the Lone Ranger. Now on to the food... WOWZA! This is so dang good! I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and goetta. My lady friend had the omelette and home fries with gravy. We both had chocolate milk to drink and it too was great. Ate here once. Zero atmosphere, very minimalist, as though it was like a stage set for a play. Ordered goetta and eggs with toast for breakfast. The goetta was soft and mushy like it had barely been on the grill, same for the undercooked over medium eggs whose yolks and whites were extremely runny. Ordered a Diet coke which came out in a can. We arrived to find a small, quaint space and luckily, we were able to secure a table as the place was packed. Would rather they butter the toast instead of me doing it out of those little peel back packets, as it's too cold by the time I get around to putting butter on it. I get the roast beef, and it isn't your typical deli meat, I was told he makes his own Roast Beef. Delish! Their soups are excellent, homemade. Nicks Restaurant is a great local spot for breakfast or lunch. There is a full breakfast menu and the lunch is great. I highly recommend the double deckers. Nick is the owner and is almost always there to greet the regulars by name and will usually be the one preparing your food. Make sure to say hello. This is also a great place to try out some local Cincinnati dishes. The Cincinnati chili is amazing. You could try one of the hundreds of chain chili restaurants in the area or you could try some of Nick's authentic, hand made Cincinnati chili. Nick also makes his own Goetta.
