Went to Red's on Christmas Eve Eve. Service was great, food was spectacular and the place is charming!! We will return!!

Stopped in here today for a late lunch. When we walked in we were greeted and seated immediately. The waitress was excellent and friendly. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a Winter Spiced Old Fashioned. Whenever I order a cocktail that has cinnamon in it I always worry about the cinnamon overpowering the drink but this cocktail was perfectly balanced and I would order it again. Our waitress, Darri, told us what the specials were when she took our drink order. The specials of the day were a steak pasta and steak tacos. The hubby ordered the steak tacos, they came with fries. I ordered the Red Combo, half Caesar salad and a small bowl of soup which today was crab and shrimp bisque. The hubby said his tacos and fries were very good. My bisque was pretty thin but the flavor was really good. My salad was good as well. The restaurant had wood floors and brick walls making for a cozy lunch. I was told I need to come in to try the dinner and I think we will. Definitely worth a try while in Madison, Indiana. read more

We set out to eat at another restaurant, but were disappointed, so walked down the street to Reds! So glad we did. They were over the top accommodating, moved a table to fit us in, very pleasant staff...then the food!!! We are travelers, did not expect to have our favorite fish dish served in Indiana! Thai mussels were memorable. Our server said the chef was from New Orleans. Service was wonderful. Ambiance is plain and nothing special. Ian was our server he was personable, friendly and efficient. Yes! Yes! Yes! A great little gem of a restaurant inside a charming small town! They offer a seasonal menu along with a few long time favorites! Scratch crafted cocktails to start were phenomenal the Lavender Martini was delicious. Baked stuffed oysters exceptional and the fillet was fork tender and very tasty.. the swordfish entree had tons of flavor and definitely satisfying. The restaurant offers two different dining experiences. The area up front is close to the hustle and bustle of Main Street. If you walk past the restrooms and kitchen, you will find a cozy bar and dining area in the back, my favorite. The service is always friendly, and the food is always wonderful. I recommend the special of the day, great interpretations by the chef. read more

We've been several times over the years, and the chef has changed a time or two. However, the food is always amazing, and the service is wonderful. Whether you are dining with a friend, on a date, or out with adult family (not recommended for children, as no child's menu, high hairs, etc), this is the perfect place for a high class meal. Everything is beautifully plated and the desserts are just as yummy as the main course, so I recommend you leave room. Last night, he ordered the pork chop, which neither of us would typically order when going out, but this was the best pork chop either of us have ever tasted. I had the filet, which was perfectly seasoned, along with asparagus and haricot verts, and all was tasty. And kudos to Paige, the most fantastic server!!! read more

Ian welcomed us in a few minutes prior to opening and demonstrated great hospitality. His knowledge of the wine list and menu led us to good choices. The date, bacon appetizer was unique as well as the crabcake tower. It is obvious he has spent time with the chef on recipes and food prep. The decor is now updated with the dark walls accented with original art by an artist/server. Ian explained when he observed me checking it out between courses. What a pleasant early dinner it was on our annual visit to Madison. Great food and superb service...the stuff memories are made of. Great place to grab an old fashioned and tasty food! We like to eat in the cozy bar area in the rear of the restaurant. Our bartender Hannah, made us great old fashioneds each visit. Excellent food - we had the figs appetizer, which was amazingly complex and very well constructed. We also thoroughly enjoyed the tomahawk pork chop, with haricots verts and horseradish potato croquettes. The apple and walnut reduction on the pork chop was exceptional! Service was also superb! We dined tonight, with our neighbors. I was looking forward to having the Fish and Chips, but it's was not on the dinner menu. I was able to talk to the Chefs, and pleaded my case. But alas, no luck. The Chefs did however, offer up the Seared Halibut, saying I would not be disappointed. Well, you know what happens, when you listen to the Chef(s)! It was "Fantastic". The flavor was everything I could have wanted. The Halibut was firm, flaky and had a mild buttery taste. Topped with a Shrimp and Leek Gratin, Spinach, Baby Bok Choy and toasted Sesame butter. Topped the meal off, with a delicious piece of Cheese Cake, shared with my lovely wife. Our compliments to the Chefs, and the very attentive FOH. RED on Main offers a great dining experience, whether for lunch or dinner. Seating is available up front, looking out onto Madison's Main St, or in the back near the bar. read more

Provolone appetizer was good, needs a little more bread with how much cheesy goodness is there. A little disappointed after the reviews were so good. Fried chicken sandwich was an actual big piece of chicken(good) with a nice batter like on fried fish (and not greasy) but needs more flavorful sauces etc. I added some pickles to help. Btw, does anyone really WANT shoe string fries? I don't personally know anyone who does and that's what they have. Table was super wobbly so my wife was mopping up water all the time. Service was friendly but a little thin Turkey bacon pita is a pass...one thin slice of turkey and pita that was burnt on one side, not toasted on the other. THE MUSSELS! If you like mussels, GET THE MUSSELS! I love this place. It has a nice ambiance that would fit for if you want to dress nicely, or go there with a T-shirt on. The songs on the radio was a great choice of some classic Rock n' Roll. Out server was absolutely amazing. They were super sweet and gave us great recommendations on what to eat. Again, the mussels were out of this world and I tried some of my mom's salmon and that was great too! Wow! Red on Main really surprised us. My sister and I dined here and each had a non- alcoholic beverage and salad. Both were sublime. The lavender lemonade was so refreshing and delicious (full disclosure: we had them add simple syrup to make it sweeter). The salads were exceptional - Kentucky bibb with chicken for me and Baby Iceberg wedge for her. The veggies were unbelievably fresh and so flavorful. I've never commented on the greens in my salad before but these were just so good. The dressings (house-made ranch and honey Dijon) were superb. Everything, including the rolls and butter, was outstanding. If I lived here, I'd want to eat here every day. read more

During our quick day trip to Madison, Red on Main was a great way to start it, with a relaxed and filling lunch. I opted for the French dip. The bread was soft with a bit of crust, and the sandwich had ample beef. And those fries!!! I finished every single one. I also liked the white onion cheddar soup. And my favorite dessert was the bread pudding, perfect for the rainy day we visited. Our service was fast and accommodating. We were having a girls day in Madison Indiana and were told by several locals to eat at this place for lunch. Upon arriving the staff was so accommodating with our bigger group. We had a great experience at Red on Main. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We were greeted with fresh bread and soft butter. It was better than your standard bread basket and we were offered more. The bacon wrapped dates were a special appetizer for the evening, and I'm so glad we got them. They were spectacular and alone worth the trip to Red on Main. My husband got the ribeye and I, the shrimp & grits. We were both very satisfied. I would recommend Red on Main. I paid $45 for a medium ribeye that was served rare/medium rare, and after sending back it came back quickly, but was still under at medium rare.
