Sat at the bar -- yay for that -- on a Monday evening. A young woman waited on us. Gin and tonics delivered as ordered. Put in our dinner order, and things went haywire. A couple of guys came in and sat beside us and we struck up a conversation. Our bartender seemed to take an instant dislike to them, and was really rude. We were near the food pickup window, and as time passed, more and more food appeared and went to people who ordered after us. Bartender is studiously ignoring us, as we're patiently waiting, and watching for our food. Finally my husband's burger was plunked down in front of him, with no mention of my Cobb salad. I urged him to eat while it was hot. Still no communication from our bartender, but increasingly hostile behavior. I finally got my salad, which bore little resemblance to the description on the menu. Not wanting to risk another 30 minute delay, I ate what I was given. She obviously didn't place my order and had to get the kitchen to rush some semblance of a Cobb salad. STILL NOT A WORD FROM HER. Finally when we got the check I said, you know, my salad was missing multiple ingredients, but I ate it anyway. She interrupts me and says, Cobb salad with no olives, that's what you asked for. I gave up, and reluctantly gave her a ten percent tip, rather than the zero percent her service deserved, and left. There are SO MANY restaurants, and better restaurants, in walla walla, don't bother with this one. And, yes, it has nothing to do with COVID. read more

A nice little sports bar in Walla Walla. Reasonable beer and food prices. Had the carnivore pizza and it was huge. Had a local IPA that was very nice as well. Can't remember the name but it was the only Walla Walla IPA on the menu. Service was reasonably fast for 630pm. No complaints at all. read more

Yesterday we ate at Red Monkey and honestly enjoyed everything about our experience. We sat on the patio, which is very well shaded and comfortable despite being close to 100 degrees outside. Our lemon drops were excellent, as was the mango vodka and the margarita. We ordered gorgonzola fries, onion shoes strings, fried pickle chips, and edamame from the happy hour menu and everything was delicious. The pork nachos with queso on the side were amazing- not one chip was soggy- and overall we were impressed that this "bar food" was much better than some of the other fancy restaurants we tried while in Walla Walla. Such a fun place! They had fresh brewed iced tea which is always a trait of the finest restaurants! The service was good. The French dip was awesome but the Mac and cheese was very dry. While the restaurant is incredibly appealing and the hostess was amazing. I was sadly very disappointed. Our server was less than acceptable. Delivered our food cold. Forgot our appetizer completely and literally stated "I forgot to order it. Do you still want it?" Gave the wrong beverage refill after walking past our table, seeing the empty glass at the end of the table 4 times. When the server did finally manage to make it back to our table, we asked for to go boxes and waited an additional 20 minutes. Received the boxes and then waited an additional 15 minutes to get our check. Waited another 20 minutes and finally went to the front counter to pay for the meal. This was NOT a busy night. This has become a regular stop for my family. Our food sensitivities limits our choices when the kids are along, but Red Monkey does a great job of trying to take care of us, especially for the price point. The food is always good and fresh. While there are plenty of basic pub offerings, there are plenty of unexpected items as well. And plenty of locally sourced menu offerings to mirror the tap list (which is great). The Dynamite shrimp and Gorgonzola fries are to die for. The burgers have great flavor, and the salads are massive. They have nice Gluten free buns available and the sweet potato fries are awesome as well. They are never fast, but we just plan for it now, and as long as the food is hot and fresh, it doesn't bother me. Some servers are very average, but they also have a few gems that keep you coming back. If you aren't looking for trivia, I'd avoid the place on Tuesday night. It get PACKED. It's lots of fun to watch and listen, but be prepared for killer wait times. All in all, we love Red Monkey and appreciate all they do to keep the food scene in Walla Walla interesting! read more

Thumbs down! They are doing it all wrong. You can see some effort with the decor and lounge area couches. But what makes a great bar/grill is good drinks, good munchies, good friendly service. The past few things I've ordered...NOT good! They seem to be skimping on food, and alcohol. The bartenders seem nice to your face at first, but don't expect any help from them if there is a problem with your bill. If you go, do CASH. They will not fix any kind of error on the credit card. This isn't Vegas or LA. I think in a town this small, they should really try to be accomodating and treat their patrons well, after all they ARE your business. And while I appreciate a good security system in place, the bouncers are creepy. They surround the dance floor and stare you down. It's silly. read more

Overall an average (meh) place for me due to the food and slow service, but I'm giving them a three because their Tuesday Trivia nights saved my sanity while I was living in the area. The decor feels slightly confused sometimes between a sports bar and a club, but I'll let it slide since Walla Walla is a small town. The food here is pretty average. I sound like a food snob, which I'm okay with, but the food was so-so. I had several flat breads and also tried a burger and the brownie dessert, all of which I felt like I could find at most places and tasting about the same. The selection of beer on tap is good; the mixed drink I tried (I think a vodka cranberry) was pretty standard. The service is what really got me because it was consistently slow. Didn't matter if I ordered a beer or a flat bread, my item wasn't going to show up anytime soon. I was here on Tuesday's for trivia, so it was busy, but I still don't understand how the service was so slow. It took me 20 minutes once to get my beer, which is fine and dandy but a tad excessive. The other issue I had with the service was that there were a select few servers who seemed to have issues getting the correct orders out, let aloe remembering what people ordered when it came time for checks. I was given two beers on my check when I ordered one on a couple different occasions, and it wasn't uncommon for a beer someone had ordered to end up on another person's tab. Actually, that was weekly. As was one person getting regular fries every time he ordered sweet potato fries. Trivia Tuesday is the only reason I went. If you're looking for somewhere with good food I suggest you try somewhere else because there is good food to be found in the area. read more

No bueno! We arrived at 11:30 am on a Wednesday before the "lunch rush" with a reservation. Although people who had arrived later that us were able to order, get their food, and leave. It wasn't until 12:30 pm when our food finally arrived (well almost everyone's food, there was a hold up with one Panini order...). After waiting for an hour we had to have it boxed, which took another 10 minutes of waiting. Then we had to wait again for waitress to print out our tickets and pay bill. Food was cold. No melted cheese on the sandwiches, soup cold. Panini was barely grilled with the cheese not melted, fries cold. Service was lacking. I have had two previous similar experiences at the Red Monkey and decided to give it another shot. I won't be going back...EVER!!!! Better food for the price can be found a lot of other places. So, I arrived here on a Monday evening with four coworkers and ordered the Amber draft. I then tried to order the Monday special which included 5 wings, fries and ... a draft beer for 10 bucks! Sounds good to me. Sign me up! Except ... the draft I ordered was ONE OF THREE that was NOT part of the "Monday Special." WTH? I asked the server where it was advertised what beers were NOT part of the special. Her answer was simply "It was posted somewhere but I thought it was posted up front." How in the world was I lucky enough to choose one of the three beers that voided this offer? She would not budge and allow my brew to be overlooked and become part of this offer. So I kindly just drank my beer and left eating duty to my coworkers. Also, when we asked the server a question, she answered "I don't know ... I don't know ... I don't know " which may be ok as long as she went to go get the answer. That, of course, never happened. Summary: Service = 1/10 Food = 3/10 Beer = 8/10 Restaurant smell = 1/10 Btw, don't order a sauce on the side as you will be charged $0.50 for it. This place is NOT recommended. read more

Stopped in last night to ask if they were expecting a large crowd for MLS Cup today. Hostess said yes and even took a reservation for us. Showed up today and we were asked what channel it would be on. Staff member indicated she might put the game on on one of the small TVs. We were told they'd be showing mostly football. We said we'd think about what we wanted to do. She came back after a bit and my wife asked a clarifying question about where they'd show the game. Got a ton of attitude in return. We decided to leave and got a snarky, "Enjoy the game!" We went to the Big House Brew Pub and were treated extremely well. We did enjoy the game there. read more

Stumbled upon this place, looked great from the outside so we went in. Seat yourself was what the sign said, so we did. No servers came over to our table , eventually they did. We ordered drinks and they were OK, but waiting to order food was bad. And it took even longer for the food to arrive. The atmosphere was very good with funny quirks all over. My group was just having fun or we would have made a bigger deal over waiting an hour for food. It was a Thursday night so there was no real reason for the service to be so slow. Party of 2, Saturday afternoon around 12:30 pm, sat outside. When I walked in, the restaurant did not seem very busy but since it was still early in the afternoon, it may get busier during the evening. The person I was meeting hadn't arrived yet and since I am always cold indoors, I decided to sit outside when they told me to seat myself. The first lady to address me was nice and she approached me with one menu within minutes of me sitting down...asked me what I wanted to drink. I asked for a water and said there would be one more person joining me. Once the other person arrived, she was pretty quick to ask us what we wanted to eat but he did not have much time to look at the menu and asked for a couple more minutes. Before I came to Walla Walla, I made an effort to check out Yelp and TripAdvisor for food and entertainment ideas. There were many restaurant options but we were looking for laid back, vegetarian options and outside seating. Red Monkey seems laid back and has a small outdoor seating area but the vegetarian options were a little lacking. Prior to me leaving, I posted a message on their facebook page asking if they had a veggie patty substitute for their burgers (it was not listed as an option on their menu) but they never answered. I still thought I could get away with some appetizers and maybe a pizza if I was really hungry. Both me and my table-mate decided on the veggie wrap and I also got onion rings instead of fries. The onion rings are the closest things I have had to an onion ring I had while I worked as a bartender at a golf course in Michigan. The chef made these absolutely brilliant beer-battered onion rings...award winning. These come in at a very distant 2nd because although they had the fresh batter, it lacked in kick/taste. They need to add some more spices to it (I don't mean hot, but just ingredients that compliment onions). The veggie wrap was dull. We were both expecting some kind of flavoring in the wrap (salt/pepper, oil, vinegar, etc) but nothing came in it....just the lettuce, sprouts, avocado, tomato. A side of ranch came on the plate but I thought they gave it to me for the onion rings (maybe it was supposed to be for the wrap too?). We both agreed that if we had know it would lack essential seasoning, we would have asked for the insides to be tossed in vinegar, salt and pepper. Neither of us had a drink, so I cannot comment on that. It was quiet outside and one table had their dog with them...so it is dog friendly! :) I almost rated them 2 stars because the waitress was just not friendly...at all. She could tell that me and the other person were in deep conversations and hadn't seen each other in awhile but we felt so rushed. When she re-filled our waters, she asked if I wanted a to go box and I said yes but was still munching. She brought out the box and the check when my friend was going to ask for a whiskey! Maybe train the wait staff to be a little friendlier and ask if we want anything else before bringing the check. Maybe it was a shift change but it was not busy and when I used to bar tend and waitress, I would let them keep drinking...bigger tip! I guess I would recommend for a lunch time run. Terrible Service - Showed up at 8pm on a Monday. Barely anybody in the place. Ended up taking over an hour to get our food. An hour, on a Monday. Waitress didn't keep us informed, didn't apologize, nothing. Barely was around to fill our water after multiple times asking. Ended up telling us there was only one cook and he got behind. When we were done, there was no effort to make it right by the wait staff. We were clearly upset and they didn't offer any discount, free drink, nothing. Decent Food - Finally after the food came it wasn't terrible. Saved this place from a one star review. Bad for Sports - Went in expecting to watch a few of the games. They have a great set up for watching, however, the majority of TV are on their music channel and don't show sports. Also it took me asking three times to get the NBA playoffs on TV when old reruns were showing on the big screen. What a joke. read more

This place is apparently the "new hotness" in town. It's pretty jazzed up inside, really nice decor and some side lounge seating areas for large groups to hang out and sink into. (The bathrooms have really sexy faucets...really. sexy faucets.) The staff is really friendly and deft at brushing off the drunk jackasses that they must deal with daily while still wearing a smile. The drink selection has a lot of variety and of course, comes with some signature drinks that are pretty great. I gave the 4 stars really just because of the food. They had a great build-your-own burger, but I think this place is still struggling to find their food niche' here in Walla Walla and for some of the dishes--it shows. There were multiple tables that had 2, 4, 6, people and we were told there weren't enough servers to serve a party of 4. We were also told if we had a party of 6 then we could be seated. What a great place to go out and eat and get some amazing drinks. We went out for a bachelorette party and had Rainy server us the first night and she was on top of drinks and an amazing personality. Me eldest grandson, almost 20, chose this for our first nights family visit. My mom, my son, my grandsons and myself had a great time. Raime, our server was very friendly, efficient, helpful, fun and an absolute pleasure to encounter. She made spectacular suggestions, checked on us often enough to be available, but was not overbearing. The food was good, the lavendar shake was wonderful and my huckleberry mule was amazing! Yep, its a sports type bar, it's family friendly, there are plenty of TV's to watch but the volume allows for conversation easily. The ambience fit our needs beautifully. Food is delicious here! We started with the onion rings "King of the ring" - seriously some of the best onion rings I've ever had. I got the backyard smoker sandwich - really really tasty! For the food, this place gets 10/10. The only reason I gave them four stars is because they played a Dave Matthews Band song, and I almost lost my appetite. I ordered the Bloody Mary spicy, but it wasn't. And their spicy burger w jalapeños, but it wasn't. That's ok I'm used to that. The 3 stars is because our appetizers and dinner came out at the same time. Our waitress thought we'd believe they came out of the kitchen like that. She didn't notice the cheese was no longer liquidy for dipping. We were forgotten. And it just would have been better if she admitted the mistake. I really want to like this place. The atmosphere is fun for a sports bar, lots of TVs, good menu and draft beer selections. The food was meh, pretty bland. Unfortunately, what really turned me off about the place was that TWO of the bartenders were either sick or experiencing bad allergies, and were sniffling, wiping their noses with their hands, blowing their noses RIGHT IN FRONT OF US sitting at the bar, and NOT WASHING THEIR HANDS AFTERWARDS, and instead they went right back to making drinks, picking mint leaves off stems, making milkshakes, and serving food. I mean, you could at least go to the back to do it where we can't see you! Gross! I should probably give one star for this, but I'm hoping it was an isolated incident. read more

Stopped in during Walla Walla's fall wine release and most places were packed or the quality ones were booked with reservations. We wanted to grab a quick drink while waiting for our table at a nearby restaurant. Sat down at the bar top and 10 minutes passed before someone came by, not friendly at all. She seemed exhausted by the night. Drinks were mediocre at best, girlfriend couldn't wait to eat so we order worst quality wings I've been had. They were burnt to a charity, tasted like they were double fried after being tossed in hot sauce and then realizing the order had asked for sauce on the side. Worst part was we got 6 burnt wings for $14.50! That's $2.42 each!!! WTF??? On top of that, there was a $0.50 charge for the side of ranch for the wings. B+ for ambiance. Solid bar food for the most part. I've tried a few of the tacos, sandwiches and burgers and have liked them all pretty well. I even had a beet salad that was really good. The only thing that has really disappointed, is the pizza. We got it for our kiddo once off the kids menu and it was bad... soft and flavorless... not good. We then had family visit and decided to order a bunch of food for everyone and got two pizzas off the "real" menu. They were just as awful. My in-laws took a couple bites and we collectively decided to just throw the pizzas away. Maybe we have had two really random off nights, but I'm not willing to give the pizza another shot.
