The schnitzel came with a potato salad, which was a bit scary for me when I read the menu item, but the tooth fairy waiter assured me that it would be nothing like a grocery store variety of potato salad. No eggs, but a true German potato salad, and it was. Super tasty. I hate potato salad, but not this potato salad. The schnitzel came as two large pieces, one of which made for a wonderful lunch the day after with a little Grey Poupon. The schnitzel was on the Lounge menu and definitely earns a thumbs up from me.

How cool is that? Just saw the Seattle Rock Orchestra perform Pink Floyd and they did a great job! Really, really good in this intimate setting. In short, The Powerhouse Theater is a great venue that has a variety of performances in an intimate setting. Recommended!!

Rather than risk driving four hours to Walla Walla only to be turned away, we decided to change plans. For the first time in a long while we skipped a Marriott stay and went with the Hilton instead and it turned out to be a great choice. The Hampton Inn in Walla Walla welcomed our dogs with open arms, had beautiful suites, and made us feel right at home. It's been years since we stayed at a Hilton property, but this experience reminded me that sometimes looking over the fence is the best way to go.

My room was located in the West Wing - so the newer wing attached to the Conference Center, but they still kept the old world charm in the room with cool decorations. For whatever reason, I may have booked an ADA room, but that also means my bathroom was huge! And I didn't feel it compromised the size of the bedroom. Parking was free, it did have an overflow area close to the Conference Center. The staff I encountered were pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

The eggs were overcooked (jammy-to-dry yolks) and the cheese sauce was terrible. 3rd time was the salmon filet, which was significantly undercooked in the middle. 4th time, I got the Country Biscuit Breakfast: gravy was terribly salty and the scrambled eggs were rubber. Tonight, it was the corned beef hash with two poached eggs and a Belgian waffle: the hash was more green pepper than meat or potatoes, the "poached" eggs were white hockey pucks with completely solid yolks and the Belgian waffle was a fluffy waffle-shaped pancake, no crispness on the outside at all. The waitstaff are fantastic and extremely nice. The setting is ... dated, but serviceable. The place is still better than the truly awful Denny's in town. I really hate ripping the place because the folks are so nice. I guess I'll sum it up this way: I've never had a truly bad meal at Clarette's, but I've never had a truly good meal there, either.
