Had several people tell me I have to try Red Cow when I visited MN so the word is out. Ordered the Barcelona burger that had roasted red peppers and shaved Serrano ham topped on it. In all the crazy loaded burger places I've been to I don't think I've ever seen this combination so had to try just because it sounded unique. It was super tasty! I wouldn't say the ingredients worked together completely, but a unique combo anyways. The fries were very solid and had a good amount of the truffle parm on them. This review marks 2,800 reviews on Yelp. It's fitting that I'm reviewing Red Cow on this moo-ving occasion. I have bookmarked dropping by Red Cow for the longest time. I remember a list of the best burgers in the Twin Cities and this eatery was one of them. My thought was that after seeing the Vikings game a few Sundays ago, I'd head to this Red Cow location in the North Loop. There is a parking lot next to Red Cow, across from Whole Foods. I paid online and then headed over to the eatery. It was probably around 3:30 pm when I had arrived. There were folks waiting in the lobby to be seated. There was a group of four ahead of me. The wait for them was 45 minutes. I then approached reception. I was greeted by two cheerful women. I was the only diner, which I have never minded. There are benefits of being a lone diner. I got the last table for two and didn't have to wait. Score! I sat near the window on a sunny day. I loved it. In front of me were a group of folks I recognized. They sat several rows in front of me in section 314 at the Vikings game. I remember how obnoxious the woman at this table was when the Bears got a touchdown. She was animated, stood up, and was bold celebrating, sticking it to Vikings fans. The Vikings won. Karma does wonders. You saw none of that celebratory pompousness at their table. It's interesting how I can pick out that sort of oddness in a large crowd. I can only assume that they were out-of-town visitors, like me, but cheering on the wrong team. I got Madison as my server. She was amazing, nice, and simple aweseome. She was helpful with questions that I had about how large the portions were. I got the following items: - Diet Coke - Scotch eggs - Mushroom and swiss burger, and subbed the fries with tots - Triple-chocolate cake I got water with ice and my Diet Coke first. I needed both drinks. They were cold and quenched my thirst after downing popcorn with a bunch of salt at the game. The scotch eggs came out first. I love scotch eggs. If I ever see them on the menu, I must have them. They are non-negotiables. They had a light crispy exterior coating that was so good. The sausage around it was the perfect amount and nicely seasoned. The egg yolks were a little runny, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It came with a light mustard dipping sauce, which was yummy, but these eggs held up without it. It felt like brunch. To feel like I was eating something healthy, it came with a small arugula salad. I loved it so much. Arugula generally has this overpowering peppery taste, but the light dressing managed to tone it down. Burgers are done medium by default. I had a horrible experience with a medium burger at MSP airport back in early 2020. I vowed never to get a medium burger again. I got my mushroom and swiss burger done medium-well. It was so good. The bun was nicely toasted, but was still soft and yummy when you held the burger. It had a melted layer of swiss cheese that I loved so much. It prevented the sauteed mushrooms from falling out with each bite. Genius! The beef burger was thick and done perfectly for my liking. It was juicy and so flavourful. It was an excellent burger. I got tots as my side. They were yummy. I felt that the tots could have been crispier. They were so delicate that they'd disintegrate when lightly poked with my fork. I ended up picking each tot and throwing it in my mouth. A tot toss. They were super enjoyable and fun to eat, with a touch of ketchup. The burger and tots came with a pickle spear. It was a nice contrast. I loved how crisp it was. I got the dessert menu. As stuffed as I felt, I took one look at the triple-chocolate cake and knew that I had to squeeze it in. Madison nodded when I went for it. The presentation getting this cake slice was bold. It came with a massive knife it in. Wow! It is all buttercream frosting between and around the three layers of chocolate cake, which I prefer. If I find the frosting too sweet, you will see a mound of it on my plate. There was no mound in sight. It was lightly sweet and perfect. The chocolate cake could have had a touch more moisture to it. It was yummy and I had plenty of Diet Coke with me, so it was fine and the perfect amount of chocolate flavour. I'd get it again. It was the perfect end to this fine meal. I paid my bill at the table with a credit card. My server thanked me for being here, which was cool and unexpected. She also thanked me again when I was leaving and she had food in her hands. She was wonderful and delightful. I used to the washroom before I left. It's at the back, on the right when you are walking into the dining area from the main entrance. It was clean and roomy. My late lunch at Red Cow was fabulous. I loved the red interior with cow themes everywhere. It's casual fare that I enjoy, especially after a football game. I'd return again for more good eats. I'll say it-- Red Cow has the best cheese curds in Minneapolis. The berry ketchup does it for me! Their burgers and sandwiches are generally pretty good as well, and the service is usually pretty fast even though it's a big place that can fill up. They have a ton of beer options and it seems like a great place to watch a game with lots of TVs at the bar. I still haven't found a cocktail I like here though. I checked out this spot while in town for a Vikings game. The food was pretty good and unique. I tried the Blues burger. The jam on their was pretty good. My co worker had the wings and tater tots which he loved. He regretted not trying the Japanese sticky wings which were described as having a teriyaki in it. Oh dang, Red Cow. So tasty. My friend and I went after attending a Vikings game and it did not disappoint! When we got there, we were seated immediately. We ordered a couple beers, cheese curds, and a couple double barrel cheeseburgers. The beer was nice and cold. The cheese curds were so good as well with thin, crispy breading. This was a good spot for burgers. I shared the following items: -Ultimate Burger -Fried Cheese Curds -Brownie Batter & Caramel Shake The burger was nice and flavorful and cooked perfectly. The cheese curds were exactly as I expected them to be - crispy and just the right amount of saltiness. But recently started eating meat again and their cheeseburger is so perfect - crispy edges and juicy in the middle. The staff is always helpful and kind. Red Cow owes me nothing. Cocktails are refreshing and curious on the tongue. 10/10 would recommend the espresso martini, Fresno strawberry margarita, and What's Up Doc?. Hospitality is truly a comfort. Malik and Mindy took the most amazing care of me. The burgers are solid and the appetizers are so creatively crafted. The Ahi Crisps and the Brie toast are my go tos! More than anything, I want to thank Malik for such an amazing experience here. The fried cheese curds are so good! The cheese is so soft and batter is so airy and crispy. Comes with a side of triple berry sauce - taste like you're dipping into strawberry jam (they have other sauces too if you're not into that). The burger is a generous serving, big burger. We had the chips and onion dip, the 60/40 burger, and the mushroom and Swiss burger. Everything was fantastic. The chips were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The burgers were also perfectly cooked. My wife loved the mushroom and Swiss with a gluten free bun. My 60/40 burger was a little overwhelmed with the mustard, but it tasted great. My wife had the cole slaw. It has a different flavor than most sweet Cole slaws that are heavy on the mayonnaise, but it was still very good. Our server, Mallory, was so perfectly attentive and relaxed at the same time. The drinks were good not too strong and mixed well. The cheese curds had a sort of fluffy texture and were packed with cheese. The wings were PERFECT so crispy and came out piping hot! We definitely loved the famous onion dip and house made chips. This is a must order. I also tried a smooth vanilla milkshake that we got for free after an undercooked burger. Red Cow is a Twin Cities staple for me - easy and tasty American food, perfect to bring out-of-towners! We stopped here during brunch time for a quick bite to eat. The best part of coming during brunch is that they give you each a warm cinnamon-sugar mini donut hole on the table! Starting with drinks, I wanted something fall-inspired - but nothing boring or hoppy. I got the Cali Squeeze Blood Orange and it was perfect. It was a citrus-y amber ale, that wasn't sweet like a sour. It was a great addition to the meal. We followed drinks with their signature cheese curds. You can't go to Red Cow without ordering them! They are truly melt-in-your-mouth, and the triple berry ketchup adds the perfect hint of sweetness. As for my burger, I ordered off the specialty menu benefitting Minneapolis Schools - I got the French onion burger. Topped with chips, French onion dip, grilled onions & white cheddar, this was delicious. I had the dip on the side and took off the chips to eat and it was amazing! I preferred having the dip on the side since I think the texture would've been too much for me on the burger. But overall, Red Cow never disappoints with a perfectly cooked hamburger and delicious fries. The deduction of the star is for the service we experienced. I give a little bit of leeway since we had a server training with our main waitress - but we were consistently bothered our whole meal. Every 5-10 minutes we were asked a question, and then the other server would come and ask the same question. We even started joking with how many times we were asked if we wanted ranch. The speed at which our food came was also unusually long, when the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. It seemed like someone might've forgotten to put our order in right away. I had also asked for well-done fries and didn't receive them, but I didn't mind since their fries are good anyway! We had brunch at the Red Cow on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Rose was our server and she represented the Red Cow magnificently! We had the burrito and the Eggs Benedict. We did ask for a couple of substitutions and all of our requests were happily satisfied. The food was excellent. The patio was very nicely done and it was a pleasure to hang out for a minute. Impecable customer service that is consistent across both Red Cow and Red Rabbit. The staff seem to know me and service is always very fast and attentive. The bartender with the hair bun tied back is super chill and easy to talk too. The lady with the dark hair (manager) is good at surveying the landscape and making sure everyone's needs are met. I think it's cute that they give me a small mini sugar donut in a small serving cup, while I wait for my food. The food is delicious, underrated small menu for breakfast. Cooked to perfection as well. I enjoy both the Pete's breakfast (basic B) as well as the cow hands (fat A.) Can't miss this place. A must try in the Norht Loop area! My only qualms, and this is nit picky and not worth a star removal. I wish the patty bagel came with less expensive option to only have the egg/cheese/bacon. My experience with Malik J. as our server was super amazing! He was knowledgeable about all of your gluten free options as well as making sure he had all of my other allergies noted for the cooks. The food was one of the best gluten free meals I've had since being diagnosed and I would definitely return. The host was also great about making sure we got to sit where we preferred (sun or shade). The food here is to die for, i've not tried one thing i didn't like, my favorites are the 60/40 burger and the club chx wrap. The best thing on the menu however is the ahi tuna crisps, the buttery tuna pares well with the crunchiness. The ambiance is a little loud but to be expected in such a place. The only issue i've had is service, hostesses are great but the servers could be a little more attentive, first time coming i was seated for 10 minutes before being greeted, last time i was here i had to wait over 15 minutes after paying to get the food my server had boxed and i watched her go do many other things before i had to stop her at a large table as she was about to take their order and ask for my food because i would've been waiting another 10 minutes, as a server myself it was very painful to watch... read more
