This is a new and awesome venue in Stevenson. The smoked brisket was FANTASTIC! the elote was delicious, as was the cornbread. The bartender was our wait staff and she was terrific. What a wonderful find on our Columbia Gorge outing. We will be back. The prices were reasonable and the food was sooo good. What a delightful Mother's Day breakfast! The entrees were delicious (French toast, huevos rancheros, and crab/spinach eggs Benedict) and the all-important crispy hash browns were perfectly prepared. First time there had four people at my table no reservation. Couple people ordered Thai food as was Friday and table listed that on table menu. At end of service waitress coldly told each of us we had to pay 25% on top of our bill and the meat in the Thai food was $5 more. Each of us felt stunned as this was not disclosed in verbal or written info anywhere in advance. It was not busy that afternoon in the restaurant and looked mostly empty of customers. I and the people I was with had a very negative experience. I will never return to this restaurant but perhaps waitresses know restaurant has mostly visitors and didn't give a damn... It seemed to be a place favored by locals. I ordered the 509 and my wife had the fish tacos. I wish I had the tacos too because they looked amazing. My wife said the were delicious too. The 509 (pulled pork) was ok, nothing special though. Our server was very helpful and attentive. With tip it came to less than $40 so not too bad as far as the price goes. read more

Blue cheese sauce, pork belly, blue cheese crumbles, garlic & chives. The Hiker-this was a twist to a lamb gyro, but didn't quite measure up. Was on the bland side. Taphouse Burger-I didn't get to try but several members of our group raved. 1 said it was the best burger he ever had in his life. We all left satiated and ready for a little more hiking. What a great meal experience. Steak street tacos were bomb! The streak was charred perfectly and went great with the other ingredients. We also had the steak bite appetizer. The steak was very tender but a bit underwhelming compared to the steak in the street tacos. The addition of peruvian peppers to each meal added a very nice sweet addition. Side salad was a very simple but tasty meal as well, with the walnuts and peruvian peppers. Overall a dang good meal, we would go back again for sure. Side note, wish the view on the back deck was more than just a view of a parking lot with slivers of river view. Was a nice night to be outside regardless. Staff was very good and attentive as well. I know things are tight with restaurants and I want to help the little guy. But I ordered a chicken sandwich today with a side of sweet potato fries. When the bill came, I noticed that there was a $3 surcharge for said fries on my bill. I pointed this out to the waitress and she kind-of snootily replied that the surcharge was "on the menu." Fair enough, but if it was, it was buried in the fine print and she never mentioned it to me when I ordered. Not that really was her fault, it was the greedy management's fault, but it was clear she had heard this complaint before. Sorry to say, she paid with a half tip from me! We were just looking for some grub and beer after a trip up Dog Mountain. I was not expecting to have the best food I've tasted all year, including some fancy Portland restaurants. I had the bao sliders and an incredible Brussel sprout/pork belly bowl. My friends were equally impressed with their meals, enough that we went out of our way to come back the next day. TLDR; Disorganized staff, bad service, poor quality control. My first clue that something was wrong was the staff still sweeping piles of leaves in front at opening time. I stepped in and took a seat. 5 minutes later some other people stepped in and took a seat. They got service first. About 5 minutes after that I got service. The beer was good, but I was a little surprised to be left waiting for so long. No acknowledgment of the situation from my server. I ordered some food, which was a bit slow coming but I was having a good day and not in the mood to complain. The meat was tasty and well prepared. The salad was not made according to the menu. I wanted to report this to my server so I stopped eating. I tried to get her attention, but she was too busy. After about 10 minutes of staring in her direction to make eye contact I finally started waving. When she finally came over I was curious why she didn't notice me trying to get her attention, and she said she didn't notice people staring at her...which I find very strange for a professional in the food service industry. She asked me what was wrong and I told her that the salad was not made according to the description on the menu (different lettuce and missing a vegetable). The server showed zero interest in the fact the food was not made according to the menu, and zero interest in why I was unhappy. Zero interest in the fact that she had been ignoring my attempts to get service for an extended period of time. She told me she did not appreciate my attitude and asked me to leave - first time in my life. I immediately left. I'm not sure why this server felt it was her due to put her feelings above the interest of the customer - perhaps it's because this pub is a family-run business and she has absolute job security...but that's just speculation on my part. read more

After a day of exhilarating whitewater rafting on the White Salmon River, we were parched, famished, and hankerin' for some decent chow. Stevenson was right on our way home, so we checked out the menus of some of the local eateries and Red Bluff Taphouse took the cake. Established in 2016, the place has not been there very long, but it is very welcoming with lots of wood and light from the large windows facing the street. The dining room is not huge, but they have a separate bar area and a small terrace overlooking their neighbors and the mighty Columbia River just a few blocks away. Unfortunately, there was no room on the terrace, so we took a booth in the front near the street. I ordered the Fortside Newest IPA (Vancouver, WA - 6.8 ABV, 61 IBU) and my son got the Buoy Beer Cream Ale (Astoria, OR - 5.7% ABV, 19 IBU). My IPA was smooth and hoppy, but not the best I have had by far. I tasted my son's cream ale and it was also quite tasty. At $5.75 a pop, beer is not a huge bargain here by Pacific NW standards, but I have seen much worse. We both chose a burger for our meal, one Shoulda, Gouda, Woulda ($15) with bacon (+$1.50) for me and the Tap House Burger ($14) for my son. The burgers were thick and large, obviously handmade, and cooked to perfection, coming on a large, toasted potato bun. Mine came with Gouda cheese and their signature bacon jam along with the fresh lettuce and tomato as well as a massive portion of crispy, homemade, hand-cut fries ... HOOAH! The service was friendly and efficient even though our server never bothered telling us her name. The food was delicious, fresh, not frozen, and filling for the price.
