Nice restaurant with lots of seating options. Outside seating has a nice view of the mountains and river. I got the pear and beet salad which was delicious. The service was quick and nice. Lots of trails around the area!

We stopped in for lunch and a beer today and had a great time. View was excellent. Beer was outstanding. Food and service was excellent as well. I want to come back again when the weather is warmer to enjoy the outside area. Definitely recommend.

Jamaica Cider is sweet NOT tart.

Delicious food and drink, had and bacon jam burger which was fantastic but could of been made better with added bleu cheese. Also had the patty melt with onions and added grilled mushrooms yummy with added extra thousand island dressing. Worth the stop for beer or food or both. Know that the Jamaica Cider is sweet NOT tart. Good if you want sweet. Not what I expected but my husband liked it.

Solid stop to rest, eat, drink, and take in the beautiful views. They have a fantastic beer selection and highly recommend the Thunder Isand Lager. The food all looked good, reasonably priced, and they also serve what seems like a rotating soup. Today was a fresh caught Salmon Chowder, however, didnt get to taste it but sounded delish! The Bacon Jam Burger was pretty tasty, however, the star of the show believe it or not were the fries! We went during the week on a Wednesday and it also being in the off-season, we were able to get seated immediately. I can imagine this place gets packed during the summer months as the place is pretty big and they also have a tented area by the parking lot.

Loved the buffalo cauliflower! Would 10000% order again. My friend had a Ruben which was great. Only problem was the tofu bowl. The tofu was oddly grilled and hard to chew, the bowl was dry at first because all the dressing was at the bottom. Tried to mix into the bowl but the dressing was also overly acidic for my taste. Great beers, great views, great atmosphere. Would go again!

Great place to stop in, grab a flight of beers, some great food and enjoy the outdoors! Ample patio seating on the sun deck. Stunning views of the river and mountains. Perfect rest stop while on an afternoon car or bike adventure. Inside bar seats available too. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Delicious food options including vegan choices. Happy travels!!

Busy nice location for an afternoon bite and beer with friends. Ample seating indoor and outdoor. Helpful staff. Got the Hazy (Rivers, Rails, and something?) and tasted the Boglag and a Blonde (Singing in the Rain?). All very tasty but for sure liked my hazy the best, flavorful but light and not overpowering. Also ordered the poutine and my group really loved it. Crispy fries, yummy savory gravy, could be even more cheese curds but what was there tasted good.

Nice outdoor seating space, not such great food & beer.

I was really surprised by how completely average this place was. We sat outside and the vibe with folks & their dogs seemed like a great place to be. However, the food was really average at best. Burger was standard, fries were not that great. The IPA I ordered was passable but nothing special. Finally, service was very slow though the place was not even half full. We eventually had to get up and find someone to check out when our waiter disappeared. I admit, I saw some negative reviews, but the logo looked cool & I wanted to snag some souvenir package goods on my road trip. Unfortunately, this wasn't' the place.

Bacon Jam Burger

My first visit to Thunder Island Brewing was both delicious and eventful. The Bacon Jam Burger was excellent, even if a little messy. The fries were perfect, including the sweet potato fries I stole from my friend. The strawberry cider was cold and hit the spot. As for the eventful part - I wish I knew our waitress's name, in order to give her proper credit. We saw a small child who was only partially dressed running down the side street towards the main road, in the rain. Without a second thought, our waitress ran outside, swooped him up, and brought him inside. She contacted the bar owner, who brought clean clothes and diapers for the child. No frantic parent/s came looking for this child, and by the time we left, a sheriff's deputy had arrived. Turns out our waitress is a superhero, and it's not every day you get a great meal served by a superhero. Head up to Cascade Locks to get yours!

Excuse the bad photo of the burger I forgot to take the picture before eating cuz i was so hungry. But the bacon jam wagyu burger was 10/10! I would definitely come back for their burgers!! The sweet potatoes were also fire, freshly made in house. Their jamaica cider is also very refreshing and better than any cider I've ever had since it's not sweet and brewed to perfection. They are dog friendly but the outdoor patio heater was broken but in the summer it won't be a problem. Bring a blanket or thick jacket if you are sitting outside to enjoy the view since it gets pretty windy. Everyone is also very nice here.

Their west coast pilsner is to die for, one of the best beers I had while visiting Portland!

This is a brewery in an area without many breweries nearby and close to trails filled with thirsty hikers. What I'm getting at, is that even if they were phoning-it-in and brewing passable beer, it would still be highly rated. This place doesn't NEED to brew amazing beer. But, dear reader, this place DOES brew amazing beer. Their West Coast Pilsner was one of the best beers I've had this year. Crisp, Clean, and Tropical. It's similar to a beer I brew that I call "Tropical Depression Pils". The food is good, but not great. It's typical brewpub fare. But if you've just hiked a ton of miles, it's the perfect treat.

We got there En Route to the Cascade Locks. Since we relied on the Colombia Gorge express , this place was located very conveniently (for us) near the CAT bus stop. We got seating inside (as the patio view deck was full), enjoyed the ambiance and the wooden interiors. The beer was so refreshing, and the food was a decent size for sharing . Service was great even though place was really busy. There is a small play place for kids, and there's some merchandise available too. Must visit place, will definitely go back !

Pay it forward

Nice second floor dining and outdoor deck. Pups welcome on the deck and they get their own bowl of water. Food was fresh and tasty. Views of the river, cliffs and mtn are best from the deck.

Patty Melt. Really good.

They are $21, only 6oz, and charge extra for more than basic toppings, including basics like cheese. It was also a 3 dollar up charge....for fries. Fries. Instead we opted for sandwiches and hummus thinking we could get a better value. We were wrong. None of the sandwiches were worth the 20 dollars that they were listed at, and the $15 hummus came with dried out sliced carrots and was no better than something you could grab for a few bucks at the grocery store. The pita almost tasted sour...and it wasn't sour dough, Very disappointed, aside from the beer and cider options, which were decent. We will not be back. If you're heading home to Portland from Hood River eat before you leave. We are pretty laid back and easy to impress, but this was wildly inadequate and in no way a good experience. Oh, PS: We had to ask twice for a check. We waited for ten minutes after the first ask and eventually paid at the bar because we had to go.

Seating is mainly on the rooftop where you get a nice overlook of the Cascade Locks neighborhood. The beer list is mainly handcrafted beers from Oregon so if you're looking for domestic items such as Coors light or Bud light, this ain't your location. We did some Kolschs and the Day Hike Pale Ales. The Pale Ale is tasty and easy to drink. My sister likes the Kolsch although it didn't appeal to my girlfriend as it was a bit sour for her. She did like the Pale Ale so I had to order another one for her. As for food, I went with the farmers salad and the wings while my sister got the classic cheeseburger and my girlfriend went with the chicken sandwich. The food came out pretty quick and we dug in. The salad was bigger than I expected and I loved the beets and bacon with the goat cheese mixed in. As for the wings, I could've done without those as they came out dry and tough. The sauce is pretty good (hazy ipa buffalo) which I'm sure would amplify the flavor of the wings if they weren't so stiff. My girlfriend and sister both enjoyed their chicken sandwich and burger. I probably should've ordered one of those cause they looked tasty. My nephew ordered the kids chicken tenders w/ fries. He ate them and didnt' complain which is a good thing. The location also hosts events such as weddings and engagement parties; not surprised given the views of the area and the access to the beer. Apparently there's also a Gorges Beer location directly in Southeast Portland if you don't want to go all the way to Cascade Locks. This spot is alright; my nephew enjoys it here so I'll probably be here again when we visit the Hatchery next time we come.

We were overcharged for what was advertised as a curated, prepaid wine tour -- yet what we got was the complete opposite. Our driver, Lisa, was completely unprepared and clearly had no idea what she was doing. She didn't even realize that one of the wineries she was supposed to take us to was closed. That alone shows a total lack of planning or professionalism.  Lisa failed to communicate with the wineries ahead of time (which was supposed to be part of her job), and it was obvious she hadn't done any due diligence for our scheduled stops. The entire tour felt like it was being thrown together on the spot, and for the price we paid, that's simply unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone -- not tourists, not locals, not even casual wine drinkers. There are so many great experiences to be had in the Hood River area. First of all, the drive into the town was gorgeous and scenic. What a restaurant with a view! Easy parking and plenty of seating on the inside. Second, the staff were incredible. From the moment we walked in, the young lady taking our order was friendly, welcoming, and helpful with our questions as non-locals. Another co-worker was helpful in helping us to get seated and bringing out food/drinks. Wonderful service, thank you! Third, the food was AMAZING! Everything we ate was fresh, hearty, and so flavorful. We shared a cup of clam chowder and it was so creamy and delicious. My husband got the fish and chips with the Cajun seasoning and it was so scrumptious! And very filling! I got the smoked salmon po'boy and it was so decadent. I loved every bite and walked away stuffed! And, on top of it all, prices were so reasonable for such fresh fish and ingredients! If we are ever in the area again, we are going to be sure to stop by Brigham Fish Market. It is worth every minute of the drive, every dollar, and every bite! Thanks for an amazing lunch!

Thanks to the power of Yelpers, we discovered Brigham Fish Market. Inside is bright, clean, and welcoming. Keep in mind, this is not a restaurant, but a fish market with delicious food and a handful of tables inside for folks to sit and enjoy, as well as tables outside. If you're looking for fancy, this is not the place, but if you want delicious, homey food, you won't be disappointed. Since we were still full from our biggish brunch, our original plan was to buy salmon and head home to Portland. However, the folks were so friendly and helpful, we decided to pick up some smoked salmon, a Coho salmon filet, AND shared some fish and chips with clam chowder. Full disclosure, I'm not a big fan of clam chowder, but I could have easily eaten the whole bowl myself. It was flavorful and didn't have that dreaded gritty, sandy crunch, which is why I typically avoid clam chowder. The fish and chips were light, crisp, and super flavorful. The person who helped us recommended their favorite Cajun preparation, and I am so glad we followed their sage advice (thanks again)! The fries were equally delicious-- golden, light, and crispy. The smoked salmon was incredible. It was yummy on its own, on a bagel with cream cheese, and our lucky Sheepies also got a little smackerel for being good girls. They give four paws up. As for the Coho salmon, it was fantastic! The person who brought us our packaged-up goodies reminded us that Coho is a thinner cut and we should take care not to overcook. Oh, did I mention that when you purchase fish to go, they offer you ice? Huzzah!! We were so grateful for this offer, since we had forgotten to pack our cooler. The next night, we prepared our precious Coho salmon by broiling it in a miso-maple glaze for no more than six to nine minutes. It was tender, juicy, and oh-so-tasty! We can't wait to return for more, and this time we'll come with empty stomachs so we can indulge in more of the menu.
