Absolutely a mountain breakfast staple. The food is incredible and the staff is super friendly! 10/10 Hood's Top Breakfast spot. The biscuits are a must have. The inside is local bar vibes with lottery to keep you busy!

Stopped by after going on a hike near Mt Hood because their "Beer Garden" sign drew us in. Staff were friendly, beer was $6.25. Beer garden was pretty empty, which was nice for us. Super beautiful day and area. I'd revisit!

Our visit at the Whistle Stop was spontaneous; we'd seen it from the road while headed up to the Skyway for dinner, thought it looked quaint, and decided to pull in and check it out, on the way home. It's a little on the dive-y side, but has touches of charm throughout. Our server was a little timid, yet very friendly, attentive, and efficient. My wife ordered an off-menu cocktail (something akin to a hot toddy), which they were able to assemble to reasonable accuracy; most other dive bars we've visited are missing one or more vital ingredients to make this happen, so kudos for them! The outdoor patio was cute, and heated, but we'd had enough of the cold and wet, so we remained inside. We weren't hungry, but I glanced at the orders of nearby patrons, and noted that the food seemed decent, with hearty portions and very reasonable prices. Seems like most of the Sunday night guests were locals, unsurprisingly, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves, so I imagine this pub is a local favorite. The Whistle Stop does enough things correctly, that they've earned the right to toot their own horn...err...whistle.

Is this place FOR REAL?!?! Are you kidding me?! Quick back story: I live in the area and I've honestly only been here for karaoke when out of town guests visit and feel like scratching that American Idol Tryouts itch. I've only experienced heavily poured drinks & shots here....until tonight. Tonight was an experience that literally shocked me. Been driving by this place for a while, and once a week or so, I see their billboard out front illuminating their dinner special for the night; short ribs. Folks, I LOVE short ribs. Whistle Stop's rendition of one of my favorite dinner items is pretty dang fabulous. Pot roast tenderness, resting on a nice bed of mashed potatoes. Texas toast on the side, with a salad. It's truly excellent comfort food and I'll surely be back again to try other menu items. **Their mushroom beef soup is also luxuriously creamy and divine** This mountain never ceases to amaze me with all these beautiful hidden gems! Thanks for the fabulous meal! See y'all soon. Bravo!

I just had the best fried chicken sandwich of my life here--perfectly crispy and flavorful. Their burgers and fries are also top-tier and always hit the spot. The drinks are just as impressive; unlike most places, they make handmade margaritas using fresh lemon, lime, triple sec, and tequila (of course) You can really taste the quality! They also have a fantastic selection of local beer on tap. It's the perfect atmosphere to catch a game. With a giant projection screen and plenty of TVs, there truly isn't a bad seat in the house. Plus, they have a pool table, ping pong, and old-school pinball along with other games. We've also heard they serve an excellent breakfast with homemade biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches--we haven't tried it yet, but we can't wait to come back for it! Whether you're a mountain local or just passing through on your way to or from Mt. Hood, this place hits it out of the park every time.

Fun friendly crowd too - I was rooting against the Seahawks and nobody was bothered. Giant screen for sports, several free games (which is great for the kids). Also a lot of pinball and a few arcade titles. Counter ordering for drinks and food. They run with a light crew so there is usually a line and a wait for your food - it's worth it. And there's plenty of entertainment in there to pass the time. Burgers are phenomenal.

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!

It was also in the middle of a heat wave in OR, so we asked to sit outside. After my husband snagged our table, I brought our well-trained and well-behaved Siberian with us to the patio. There was another poorly-behaved dog, but my dog could not have cared any less, and it was far enough away that it didn't bother me too much either. The outdoor seating was minimal and basic, but did the job. Thankfully there was shade from the umbrellas. I put my dog in his "tuck" command under me as he is trained to do at restaurants, and proceeded to look at the menu. To be honest, the food looked pretty good, and also smelled pretty good, as I watched other patrons get their meals. However, we were still pretty stuffed, so we settled with a beer flight. The beers were out to our table pretty quickly, but after trying them, my husband and I came to the consensus that we expected more from the only brewing company in town. As another Yelper put it, the beers fell flat for us too. I was hoping there would be more/different notes to each beer, which is the whole point of sampling multiple, but they all seemed quite monotone. It started getting pretty warm underneath our umbrella, so we quickly wrapped up our beer flight and left. The view was gorgeous, and the location splendid (hence the 4 stars), and perhaps next time I'd be down to try one of their dishes, specifically the elkburger, but I was a little disappointed in the beer. I've been to plenty of breweries to enjoy beers there and also bought craft beers/growlers for home, so I'd like to say I'm decently versed in beer, but this missed the mark.

My niece had never been to R.L. she had snow crab for the first time and after a tutorial on how to get the meat out, made a mess but enjoyed every bite. I love Lobster Fest. I saw 1 commercial like a month ago and was hooked. I knew what I was going to order just by what the commercial advertised. I got exactly what was advertised. A lobster tail with a split lobster tail, so 2 lobsters, a baked potato with everything and extra sour cream and steamed broccoli. I ate the veg first, I knew I'd never look back after lobster hit my taste buds. I loved both the potato and the perfectly cooked broccoli. The scallops were also delicious. How could they not be? I dipped them both in drawn butter! I could have eaten another dozen scallops. They were yummy. The lobster... the lobsters. Oh yah. So good. Every bite cooked right and dipped in butter. I thought about getting a second dinner but held back. It's technically a good thing I did because the birthday guy had 4 maybe 5 Margheritas. Don't ask what kind. There were 3 different one's and the rim got confused at the bar and a bar manager, then the waitress from another table..... in the end, I got a free margarita! There wasn't a lot of talking during dinner because we all got serious when the food came out. My Wife gave me a bite of her steak. I almost ordered that same thing. My niece destroyed her snow crab and loved every bite. The birthday duo got free ice cream and a song. The song was fun but the ice cream.... After lobsters and margaritas I was full.
