Mallard's is such a beautiful place for outdoor dining on a sunny day, even if you're not a huge fan of golf. It's tucked in a quiet pocket at the nine hole, and the view is GORGEOUS. We go here pretty frequently and it's not unusual to see deer having a snack on the green. Something is always blooming here. It's lovely. In cooler months, the indoor restaurant / bar works, lots of windows brings the heavily treed vibes inside. A nearby fireplace gets roaring when it snows. Awesome ambiance. My favorite food items on the menu is DEFINITELY their shortribs, halibut fish & chips and the resort cheeseburger. Yum! My Daughter enjoyed their salmon ceaser salad today. Nicely cooked & a good sized serving. Staff is always kind and attentive. **Not sure why their rating is so bad as of today (8/19/2021), this place deserves a chance. I've never had a bad experience here.** See you again soon!

After our round of golf, our friends joined my wife and I for lunch on the lawn looking out on the beautiful view. Breanna Fry graciously served us drinks, took our orders and brought our food. She is an excellent employee who creates an enjoyable dining experience at Mallards.

Ignore the negative reviews, the food is great and the view is even better! We got the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the halibut fish and chips, both were excellent! I was expecting the worst after reading the reviews, but the fish was white, flakey and the batter was cooked to crispy perfection. The waitress was so bubbly, friendly, helpful and had excellent customer service! You can't beat the view of the golf course either, it's beyond gorgeous.

There it is ! The best chowder I have ever had !

You can absolutely smell the fish and vinegar as soon as you walk through the door, which I think gives the place a very homey pub feel. I ordered a spiked peach Arnold Palmer, which I enjoyed (and it was pleasantly strong) and a glass of the house white, which was good for the price. Our server was very fast and attentive. To eat I got the tomato soup with a grilled cheese, which was absolutely fantastic. The soup was so creamy and flavorful, and I cannot imagine a better meal after spending all day walking outside in the rain. The fries were super crispy and I liked the batter. My partner and I shared some of their breadsticks, which were deliciously baked (fresh!) and came with a super refreshing basil crema and a nice tomato-y dip. Wonderful all. My partner ordered fish and chips, and was surprised to find that it is one large fillet of fish, not multiple pieces like you would typically expect. He said the fish was fine, but a little tough. Overall, a wonderful experience. I definitely hope to return. I highly recommend this place as a refuge during the cold winter months!

But the last few times I've stopped in for a meal, it feels like the food isn't quite as impressive as it used to be. Could be all in my head. Not sure. But it's always a nice spot to hang out and chat with friends, you can get seated quicker if you enter through Over & Out, which basically functions as an extension of the main Observatory, with it's own bar and pool tables.

The sauerkraut was a tad sweet IMO but the brat was juicy and tasty. We also got the Schweinsaxe (I think?) which was an enormous pork shoulder hunk w/ nice fried crackling skin on the outside & comes w/ red cabbage and spaetzl. Def recommend sharing this big boy. It was good and all but I wish there was a bit more flavor to it than just meat flavor. The only thing for me is I find German beers to all be a bit too sweet for me as someone that likes stronger beers like IPAs but not dark beers much.

Full Sail is a very well respected micro brewery, founded in 1987 and the first craft brewery in the Pacific Northwest to bottle its beer. It's flagship Amber has won numerous awards, including recently in 2025 a Gold Medal at the NY International Beer Competition (along with the brewery being named Oregon Brewery of the Year). It has a large line-up of beers brewed inhouse There is a large paid parking lot across the street at $1.25 per hour, payable via credit card through nearby kiosks. Once entering, there is a long hallway, walking past the working areas of the brewery, until getting to the restaurant area. It has views of I-84, and further the Columbia River. The outdoor patio was not open (drizzling outside), and it was pretty crowded inside but we got lucky to be seated at a table near windows with a view. There have lunch and happy hour specials during weekdays. The lunch special is 1/2 of a sandwich (grilled cheese this day) along with a cup of their soup of the day (tomato). I was super excited about the Amber, so got a pint of that ($8) and pint of the Queen Wheat ($8). My wife enjoyed the Queen Wheat but didn't care for the Amber. I really liked the Amber, making me realize why I had drunk so much of that style earlier in my life when in Wisconsin, before switching over to wheat beer. There selection of beer is great, and a flight is the way to go ($18 of 6 5oz samplers). Buffalo Hot Wings ($17) - a decent amount of simply deep fried hot wings in a classic Frank's red hot buffalo sauce. Pretzel Bread Sticks ($13) - 4 large, warmed pretzels. Should have gotten the beer cheese to go with it. Salmon Fish & Chips ($20) - 3 small pieces of beer battered salmon, very dense and definitely tasting of wild caught salmon. It came with good fries and a really good, fresh cole slaw. There is a small refrigerator stocked with cans of certain beers for sale. Unfortunately, we were dismissively told that they were out of the Amber bottles for sale. So after our meal, went to the front to purchase directly from the front staff. Their Japanese rice beer from their Session lineup ($10 for a six pack) was available and what we brought back home with us.

It was a Saturday evening about 6:00 pm so we knew we might get caught in a crowd and were prepared to wait. I was impressed with our server and the different menu options she shared with us. We each ordered a simple cup of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. (see pics) The vibe was great with darts, shuffleboard and a DJ setting up for karaoke night. How fun! Here's where it went downhill. We waited over 20 minutes to get our food, we never were asked if we needed anything else or if our food was good ( or correct) and our water and ice tea glasses were never refilled. Now I realize that our very nice server was busy, but she passed our table SEVERAL times without saying a word. As for our food, my chicken noodle soup had way too much pepper in it and my husband's tomato bisque was too spicy. (& he likes it spicy!!). Also, I ordered cheddar cheese not swiss cheese for my grilled cheese sandwich. I eventually decided to eat it since I was hungry and knew that I'd have to wait even longer if I returned it. This is our second visit here and sadly the service wait time then (about 6 months ago) was also "forgettable" All and all, if you are going to hang out and party with your friends, I would say GO! But if you want to go and get a meal, be prepared to be patient and allow A LOT of time.

The spicy buffalo wasn't too spicy but I did add some more buffalo sauce. The wings were a good size with lots of meat. All 18 were flats which I didn't really enjoy. They also needed to be cooked longer. They were cooked thru but had no crispy part on the outside. Same thing with the fries. Put it all in the air fryer at home and they were much better. I'll ask for well done next time, and I'd like to try the pizza. I've never been but have also heard this is a good karaoke spot on saturdays.
