Waking up to several inches of fresh powder and more forecasted moved up our agenda, and we opted to skip dehydrated meals and bug out for a hot breakfast! Stephanie's delivered! Their main dining area was busy, but they opened up a separate area that easily seated our troop! The food was hearty, reasonably priced, and the service was timely and top-notch! A good breakfast choice. Not fantastic, but certainly solid. Their country fried steak isn't great, but my standard is from Gravy and 24 Hour Hotcakes House in Portland,so the comparison isn't really fair. The breakfast quesadilla is good, their scrambles are good, hash browns are just ok (seems like the grill is too hot, so they're more slightly scorched than nice, evenly, crispy browned-on-both-sides). Bacon has come out cooked to order every time. I haven't tried an omelet here yet. read more

Visited 7/26/2017 What a fantastic little breakfast café. Nice and cozy with a very friendly staff. A great menu with plenty to choose from and breakfast served all day. I tried one of their skillets with mushrooms, cheese, sausage and bacon topped with country gravy and more cheese. Only one word, Magnificent. Extremely filling and delicious and everything was very well priced. If you're heading up the hill to visit Mount Hood be sure to stop by and have breakfast here. I think the previous reviews overrate Stephanie's. I spotted by here while planning a skiing trip based on the reviews and pics posted, and was underwhelmed. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly but the food was very bland. Stephanie's is probably a great place to being kids as the dishes don't have a lot of spices, but I was hoping for more. I had to liberally add hot sauces to add flavor to my breakfast. To give a fair assessment, I have to go with a 5 when rating the ambience and friendliness of the staff... My husband likes this place so we have been several times. It's very basic diner food. Nothing special. Well, I take that back. Their strawberry jam is delish, but you only get enough to spread on 1/4 of your toast so...enjoy that!! The last couple of times we've been (within the last month) we've noticed significant skimping. The first sign of things going bad for Stephanie's: Our "dinner salads" were reduced down to a single layer of old browned lettuce on a tea cup saucer sized plate. And they charged us 5.95 for them!!!!!! One of my pieces of lettuce was so brown and slimy and when I removed it from my plate - 1/4 of my salad was gone! Not kidding!!! That's how small these things are. We had thought maybe this was just a one time lazy plating, but the next time we went in - same thing! The next sign that they are penny pinching for every small thing that other restaurants give freely: Ice tea? SURE but you have to pay extra for lemon (WTF?!?) and SURE you can have some ranch for your fries...but be prepared to be charged 1.75 for a small container of it and NOPE we won't tell you there's a charge for it either! We won't be back. Not only does the waitress seem extremely annoyed with her job (she's related to the owners), their front door has been broken for months and clearly they have no intention of fixing it - so patrons freeze and should someone not close the door behind them - customers have to take it upon themselves to handle the situation and get up from their meals to tend the door - multiple times during their meal. Driving from Mt Hood area on our way back to California we decided to make a late breakfast stop. Found this place and glad we did! Our breakfasts were delicious and way more food than we could eat! Great service from Melissa who waited on us! Never did we think that we would get a couple of hours away before realizing that my husband had forgotten his phone. In retracing our steps we called the restaurant and Melissa was able to locate the phone. The restaurant would be closed by the time we would be able to get back there, so with approval Melissa mailed our phone to us in California! Food options in Sandy, Oregon are limited at best. This place seems to only be frequented by locals. Despite being completely thrown by the name of this place (not international at all), I could see the appeal of a diner for all the locals headed out to work. Think giant portions of really really good diner style food. I ordered a sandwich and salad and after eating the giant salad I ended up taking my sandwich to go. The burgers seem very popular here and are huge. The biggest draw by far is breakfast. Cheap prices for great breakfast food. If you can afford the calories before hitting the slopes this is the place to do it. Most meals under 10.00 and the coffee is decent. Service is super fast and friendly. Whoever has recently given this restaurant above 2 stars is delusional. Took my family here for breakfast, you look at the menu and see the price and think wow must be good food. I mean what type of omelette is 22$. When our food arrived my children had one bite and said it was the most awful thing they have ever tasted. The things that made me laugh the most was when my son ordered a blueberry waffle. Which was just a waffle with 4 dried blueberries that looked like they had been in the Sahara for a week on the side. On top of that, the reason I laugh is because it's an additional 5$ for 4 blueberries. I've been here a few times since my last review, so I wanted to post an update: When I have come for lunch, the food was fantastic. Coming for breakfast is.. okay. Nothing to brag about, but possibly the best in Sandy, where options are very limited. But if you don't mind driving 20 miles up the mountain, you will truly find the best breakfast around. As for dinner, this place is no good. I ordered the sirloin and prawns (see photo) and everything about it was lousy. I have never considered returning for dinner to give them a second shot. 5 stars for lunch, 3 stars for breakfast, 1-2 stars for dinner. read more

The kitchen has no idea how to cook a proper country breakfast. Eggs: rubber. Meats: Cheap garbage with tons of filler. Biscuit: flat, flavorless, cake texture. Butter: old and past expiration. It's clear they don't have any talent in the kitchen and need to hire someone to fix their kitchen up right. Prices are unreasonable given the low quality. You can spend 1/3 the money and get a better meal at McDonalds (and I personally can't stand the poor quality of McDonald's food, but if there were only two choices, I would choose McDonald's.) On the plus side, their front of house is very friendly and the coffee is pretty good. The owner is reportedly a Sandy local and has a following of patrons that seem to defend it vehemently. I wish I could also defend it - I don't like knocking a local business. It's close to home and the decor and front of house are fabulous. I just can't get past the fact that the food is so horrible. On the bad side way overprice, food quality very poor. Ordered chicken fried steak, the meat was tough and bad flavor, hash browns were cold and sunny side eggs way under cooked. There used to be an insane meth addict as the one of the cooks here at this good restaurant but they fired her during our meal. She was a total nightmare. The management is screwed up needs to make some changes most of the time waiting staff makes up for it I came back to my review to add the following: My partner and I have discovered the management and owners are assholes to say the least, our bill was $30 too high and would not help the waitress figure out how to adjust it,they simply said just give them the bill, that came from the owner himself Who is also the cook. We loved our waitress she is a very nice person and left her a big fat tip. Just ok. The waitress was nice, the food was a little below average but decent portion sizes, but this place will nickel and dime you. We ordered four breakfasts, all of them without toast because we are all gluten free. My wife ordered an omelet with no gravy but add jalepenos. They charged us $1.95 for the jalepenos even though we had no toast on all orders. They charge 50 cents for an extra plate! Also, we ordered a side of bacon and literally within 90 seconds changed our mind. I walked up to the counter to remove it from our order and it appeared to be a problem for the owner. We were there for 20 minutes before they took our order despite 3 women behind the counter; after they took our order suddenly 2 of them left the building. With the one remaining waitress there was NO ONE apparantly left on staff who could bring us our mimosas (the only waitress for 5 tables wasn't 21 and seemed like a new hire) and when the food finally came it was cold. Fantastic breakfast here! I ordered the biscuits and gravy while my wife ordered the French toast. Both were delicious and made in a timely manner. Couldn't have had any better. I returned within the week and ordered the French toast and it was superb! This may not seem like a big deal to many however, they have peanut butter!!! A lot of places are not carrying peanut butter anymore due to allergies, but they do! Peanut butter goes hand in hand with French toast! read more

This was a revolting experience. I ordered the normal pancakes when I received it it was sour and the butter also tasted a little expired. My husband ordered a egg white omelet for 22 dollars and when it came it was swimming in old cooking oil. I went to the bath room their was a creepy old mannequin, I jumped out of my bones. I was torn on where to go based on reviews but was glad we picked Stephanie's. Good atmosphere, nice and attentive server, small-town local vibe and great food. We had the Colorado omelette and the Breakfast burrito and were very happy. Coffee is drinkable, same as you'd get someplace like Sherri's. Good sized portions and decent price. I would recommend it! This is the first review I've ever left on a restaurant, as well as the only bad one. But the service was severely lacking in every way. Now, I work on a restaurant. I understand that a server is not able to take customers orders right away if they are busy. But, Stephanie's was not busy in any way, shape, or form. When my family and I went in and sat down, the server didn't even acknowledge us. We sat there for ten minutes, where the server walked by us multiple times. We finally got our own menus, and the server was still ignoring us. Some other people come in, and my sister goes: "watch the server go to these people first." That's exactly what the server does, gives that table their menus and takes their drink orders. Right after they sat down. We left then. After patiently waiting for 15 or more minutes to even get our menus. Needless to say, the mediocre service that Stephanie's offered was rude, and as a restaurant worker myself, rather appalling. This place has some of the best French toast and homemade biscuits you will ever eat! The eggs and hash browns are good, but you will most likely want to add salt/pepper/etc. to taste. The restaurant is tacky and small, not to mention the amount of spelling errors in their signs/menu. Our waitress gave our group of three, two menus. Then, we waited 15+ minutes to be asked about our dinner, without being asked about drinks yet. Another 20+ minute wait and our order arrived, still no drinks. I ordered waffles, with a side of white toast. I received pancakes, and wheat toast. My roommate asked for ranch and 10 minutes after, received strawberry jam. After staying in Sandy the previous night I found Stephanie's on Yelp and decided to give it a try for breakfast. It is a diner, and it appears most of the patrons are local. The menu was large and I had a pancake stuffed with bacon, eggs, cheese etc, it was great. The coffee was hot, the prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. An average diner that's only notable for being right off the main road as you pass through Sandy when there's not a ton of other options nearby. It's clearly full of locals, but it doesn't have much of the charm you'd expect from such an establishment. The staff were friendly, but slow, and the food was decent, but nothing I'd ever need to eat again. I had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich that was pleasantly un-greasy, but there also just wasn't too much to it. Same with the coffee. Standard filtered drip, mini creamers and white sugar packets. If you're on a road trip to Mt. Hood and starving, this'll do. But otherwise I'd wait and eat elsewhere. read more
