Koya Kitchen is as good as you would expect Japanese cuisine to be all the way out in Welches, Oregon... just ok, nothing special. Food options are limited in this town, especially Asian food. We decided to give Koya Kitchen a try and the food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The service was friendly and the food came out quick. The interior is cute with a little gift shop and a bunch of hanging plants. It also looks like they have a cool outdoor seating area, but I didn't get to check it out since it was raining. When you get here, you order your food at the food truck then they give you a buzzer so they can let you know when your order is ready. You can find a seat while you wait then you go back to the truck to get your food. Inside they have a bar with various beers and cocktails.

So glad we stopped in, great food and a unique setting! We've passed Koya kitchen quite a few times & finally decided to try it after a day of hiking. There's a food cart, a little bar and an unexpectedly cute outdoor seating area. You can sit outside under the trees, in a little wooden studio, or in a refurbished magic school bus. They were busy, but with the way the outdoor seating is arranged it didn't feel crowded. The whole experience was great, the food was fresh & flavorful; we'll definitely be back!

Very nice and cozy atmosphere, both inside and outside. You can even sit in the bus. The food was delicious, however I wish it had more meat.

On vacation at nearby Mount Hood. What a cozy reprieve from the flurries of snow. It's sort of like a house cabin with a food cart in the back. So you order food outside at the food cart and order drinks indoor at the bar area. They give you a pager and you go out again to pick up the food. It was a bit wet with the heavy rain, but felt like part of an adventure so I didn't mind. The food: Yaki Soba with Chicken. I really enjoyed it. It was fairly simple, probably something I could make at home. But considering being nearby a ski resort area, it was a really nice comfort food. Miso Ramen. Best ramen I've ever had? No. Best ramen I've had in a small town nearby a ski resort? Probably! My son was pleased with some soupy comfort escape from the pouring rain outside. Highly recommend for cozy comfort food in a snowy environment.

"KOYA" means Little House/Lodge in Japanese. Yelp shows 4 stars! Of course I was expecting good Japanese Foods. They have good Japanese food selections as well as drink (Sake, Japanese Beer and IPA) selections. Restaurant was cute, cozy, clean and welcoming. Especially their bathroom was clean!!!! Services are great and all staffs were very friendly. However, their foods were disappointed. We ordered 2 sushi rolls and Chicken Karaage. Sushi's rice were undercooked partially and Chicken Karaage was little over cooked and chopped up like "popcorn chicken" size. I believe their Chicken Karaage were marinated before cook and Flavor was good but we were questioning the "Freshness". Services, Atmosphere and staff were great. so We don't want to say "We won't go back there again", but we are looking forward to seeing their improvements soon.

    Entrance to the bus seating.

Koya Kitchen delivers! Food truck, tiny indoor bar and gift shop, and incredible ambiance with its outdoor dining. There's a refurbished school bus, an open air cabin, a gazebo with picnic tables, hammocks, and several more options for seating. The food was outstanding. I had msubi and a bowl of ramen. The broth was rich and hit the spot. Food came pretty quickly--you're given a buzzer while you wait. Prices are super reasonable!

The ramen is always 10/10! There isn't a lot of indoor seating, but if the weather is decent, there's lots of outdoor seating.

I just had the best fried chicken sandwich of my life here--perfectly crispy and flavorful. Their burgers and fries are also top-tier and always hit the spot. The drinks are just as impressive; unlike most places, they make handmade margaritas using fresh lemon, lime, triple sec, and tequila (of course) You can really taste the quality! They also have a fantastic selection of local beer on tap. It's the perfect atmosphere to catch a game. With a giant projection screen and plenty of TVs, there truly isn't a bad seat in the house. Plus, they have a pool table, ping pong, and old-school pinball along with other games. We've also heard they serve an excellent breakfast with homemade biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches--we haven't tried it yet, but we can't wait to come back for it! Whether you're a mountain local or just passing through on your way to or from Mt. Hood, this place hits it out of the park every time.

Fun friendly crowd too - I was rooting against the Seahawks and nobody was bothered. Giant screen for sports, several free games (which is great for the kids). Also a lot of pinball and a few arcade titles. Counter ordering for drinks and food. They run with a light crew so there is usually a line and a wait for your food - it's worth it. And there's plenty of entertainment in there to pass the time. Burgers are phenomenal.

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!
