Came on the perfect day to experience 1st snow at the Timberline Lodge. Fireplace as you enter lodge. Ram's Bar is on the 3rd floor above the restaurant. We got there just before 11am so we were the 2nd group to wait to be seated. The window view was really nice since this was the 1st visit to the lodge for one person in our party. It had started snowing as we parked so it was cool watching the snow. Drinks were enjoyed by everyone. The food was good. I only got pictures of 2 dishes. We were hungry so the other 2 were doved into before I could snap a picture. I had the meatballs. They were perfect with the bread, not overly sweet. There was a few flies around the window where I sat so it was making me anxious until I smooshed the one that kept coming towards my drink. This and our impatient waitress was reason for one less star. Despite this, I would come again.

Mac and cheese and meatballs

My cousin and I recently had dinner here after being evacuated from a wildfire in the Columbia River Gorge. We set up camp down the road at Sherwood Campground, and then drove up to the Timberline Lodge so she could see the views from the front balcony (which are incredible). By the time we arrived to the lodge, the Ram's Head Bar was the only thing left open, so, even though neither one of us was drinking, we decided to eat here. We asked for a table with a view, and the host did not disappoint us. He even walked around the whole upper floor to make sure he was giving us the best available table. We had a view facing the top of Mt Hood. We split the Maple Bourbon Bacon Meatballs and the Timberline Stout Mac and Cheese. We loved the mornay sauce on the mac and cheese, and the bread crumbs baked on top. The cavatappi was perfectly cooked. The meatballs were yummy, but tasted nothing like maple, bacon, or bourbon. My cousin and I both agreed that they tasted like nothing but salt. We joked that they were meant to be split by a group because there was enough salt in them for at least six people. Even though we were very hungry, the two dishes ended up being more than enough food for the two of us. We weren't able to finish all of the meatballs and gravy, but we did polish off the mac and cheese. The host and server were both great, and we loved the ambiance so much. The Timberline Lodge is on the National Register of Historic Places for its design and architecture. Overall the prices are actually kind of reasonable considering the ambiance and the fact that the food probably has to be trucked in from very far away. Although I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, I thought the food was decent for a park lodge bar.

Rams Head was pretty good. The drive up was nice, and the setting was fantastic. We headed upstairs and it took about 5 minutes to get seated. The server took a while to get to our table and actually tended to tables that were seated after us before even coming to get our drink order. We decided to have some drinks and appetizers. The street corn is a cold dish and was pretty mediocre. The olive plate was tasty. The hot cider drink was probably the highlight. Great setting, decent food, meh service.

A decently priced drink menu considering the location. Seats are close to 90 years old and are solid! A number of tables look out towards the summit, or at least I think they do as we were in a white-out!

6 mo ago I was Celebrating Peppers first year birthday with her first ride to Timberline. Rams Head is on The second floor and the big windows overlooking the north displayed a beautiful view of the mountain. Food was great, delicious and pleasingly displayed. The service was spot on. Everything was wonderful. Not crowded that day, and the views were spectacular. Right in the middle of awesome ride, couldn't ask for anything more. Well, maybe a beautiful companion, eh?

Tuscan pasta, BASMATI CHICKPEA MASALA and PICKLED ASIAN PEAR FETA SALAD

This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, how come it has such a low rating?? We were seated without a wait and food came out quickly. My Tuscan pasta tasted amazing - very rich in sauce and flavor. Best thing about this place is, of course, the Mountain View - especially if you get the right table.

ARTICHOKE & FETA DIP, does this look appetizing to you?? Really salty too.

Stopped by the Bar for lunch at 12:50pm, about half the tables full. Ordered a cup of Tomato soup and the artichoke dip appetizer... shouldn't take long, right? I sat for 30 minutes waiting for the cup of soup. Flagged down my server, Heather, asked if she could just bring me the soup now and appetizer whenever it was ready. She said sure. 15 minutes later, still no soup. 5 minutes after that, my soup and appetizer plate arrive. Heather asks me if everything is ok, I say no, this took over a half hour. She apologized said she was busy with other tables and she would have the manager stop by. The soup was fine, but the artichoke dip had almost no artichokes and was a creamy mess, so salty, I couldn't eat it, as much as I wanted to. Of course no manager stopped by, so I found him myself, who said it should have never taken that long and comped the meal (which I appreciated). At that point I'd been there an hour. The great ambiance and views don't make up for the bad service and bad food.

Enjoyed the Bruno's brownie and the B.L.A.T. and both were delicious! Great views of Mt. Hood too make sure to ask to sit by a window. The ambiance is cozy and the service was great and quick. Would recommend!

Nice atmosphere, drinks were good. Service was very very very slow. I received the prime rib dip sandwich with a cup of soup for $29 and the bread was moldy. Kinda ruined the mood for me. It took about 20 minutes to receive a replacement sandwich. I sat there with an empty drink and no follow up. The replacement sandwich was chewy and unappetizing. I had another drink to try and forget about it, luckily I only had to wait another 40 min for the check. I won't eat here again but I hope you have a much better experience than my wife and I.

Cheers!

Brought friends from the east coast to Timberline, a hotel on the National Historical Register and filled with so much history and architectural detail. We had already hiked around Trillium Lake and worked up an appetite so stopped at Rams Head Bar on the 2nd floor for the views and some food. Service was slow, they are definitely understaffed as of this writing. At least when our drinks came it made the long wait for the food more bearable. The stars of the orders were the opened face albacore tuna sandwich topped with peppers. It was flavorful and very filling. As was the Caprese sandwich served on ciabatta. My friend who ordered the elk sausage said it was fantastic. Unfortunately me and another friend ordered the Italian sandwich and it was barely edible. Served on a thick baguette that was stale and dry, I couldn't get it down. Just a few slices of meat, tomato, and two pieces of spinach it was far from satisfying. But I was hungry! So I ordered a side salad which was a bowl of fresh spinach and one single olive with oil and vinegar bottles brought to the table. I discarded the top of baguette, added lots of spinach drizzled with oil & vinegar to add needed moisture and flavor, and did my best to get some of it down. For $22, it was dismal. All the sandwiches were served with a huge portion of kettle chips, so many that we combined the leftovers into a takeout box for car snacks. Beers and hard cider come in 10, 16 or 22 oz sizes and were all good. Our waitress warmed up to us eventually, we even managed to make her smile and chuckle. Never understand why places that can charge a premium because they have a fabulous view get lazy with the food. In my world, you can have a spectacular view and delicious food.

We played it safe and ordered a cheeseburger, chicken tenders, and fries, and we were also told the chili was a specialty. Everything turned out to be quite tasty. The fries and the burger were especially good. I'd definitely recommend trying any of these items! Customer Service 3/5 We accidentally entered through the bar area, and since we're not from the area, we stood there for a moment trying to figure out where to order. No staff greeted or directed us, so we were a bit confused. After walking around, I eventually found the dining area, and once we were seated, our waiter was friendly. Ambience 3/5 The restaurant has a charming small-town vibe. It's a very cool little spot, nothing fancy, but cozy, and they have a bar area which is cool. The window views were also really nice ! Cleanliness 4/5 There was a slight funny smell when we walked in, but the restaurant itself didn't look unclean, we had no issues. Wait Time 5/5 The wait time wasn't too long, though it also wasn't a particularly busy day. Cost 4/5 Some prices felt a bit high for the type of spot, but overall it wasn't unreasonable.

It was also in the middle of a heat wave in OR, so we asked to sit outside. After my husband snagged our table, I brought our well-trained and well-behaved Siberian with us to the patio. There was another poorly-behaved dog, but my dog could not have cared any less, and it was far enough away that it didn't bother me too much either. The outdoor seating was minimal and basic, but did the job. Thankfully there was shade from the umbrellas. I put my dog in his "tuck" command under me as he is trained to do at restaurants, and proceeded to look at the menu. To be honest, the food looked pretty good, and also smelled pretty good, as I watched other patrons get their meals. However, we were still pretty stuffed, so we settled with a beer flight. The beers were out to our table pretty quickly, but after trying them, my husband and I came to the consensus that we expected more from the only brewing company in town. As another Yelper put it, the beers fell flat for us too. I was hoping there would be more/different notes to each beer, which is the whole point of sampling multiple, but they all seemed quite monotone. It started getting pretty warm underneath our umbrella, so we quickly wrapped up our beer flight and left. The view was gorgeous, and the location splendid (hence the 4 stars), and perhaps next time I'd be down to try one of their dishes, specifically the elkburger, but I was a little disappointed in the beer. I've been to plenty of breweries to enjoy beers there and also bought craft beers/growlers for home, so I'd like to say I'm decently versed in beer, but this missed the mark.

I wanted CARNITA TACOS, you know corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. I saw an option for crispy corn tortillas, and so I asked if they were just corn tortillas fried in a little oil. He had no clue. He asked the cook in the back (also white with long a hair and no hair net/hair tie at all). I told the teller I specifically did not want hard shell tacos. So once the teller came back he said "yeah not hard shells, they're made in house".. So 10 minutes later they came out with three hard shell tacos with only (pre shredded) cheese and lettuce on them. I don't think it ever occurred to the cook that using spices on the meat would make the food taste good. I also don't think it ever occurred to the cook that he should taste his food. They brought out the saddest portion of beans and rice that didn't have even a grain of salt added to them. The beans were cold and mushy with absolutely no spice. The salsa did no favor either, it was thick tomato water at best. HORRIBLE. Horrible. horrible. I could not eat more than a few bites before I was actually repulsed. When I told the teller I didn't really get what I wanted he actually acted annoyed, and said "it was a miscommunication". He was probably so high he couldn't even register I specifically asked to not be served hard shell premade tortilla shells! Then as I sat waiting to leave I saw the "cook" prepping lettuce by peeling off rotting leaves, and wiping his hands all over his pants before chopping the lettuce. Then started eating right over the counter he was prepping the lettuce on. He did not wipe the counter and continued with prep work. I came here on Saturday - 1/17/26 at 2:00pm
