My husband has childhood dreams about the pizza at this place. I'm not a huge pizza person, but can deal with Hawaiian. I ordered a So-Co and -ginger and DH a beer. My drink was watered down with lots of ICE, but happy they had Southern Comfort. The bartender was very nice. The pizza sucked. The pineapple was literally just piled on out of the can. Wow - You name it they have it all on their menu. Pasta, pizza, sandwich, burger, everything is in there. We ordered their pesto chicken fettucine, fettucine alfredo, spicy chicken calzone (the best dish out of everything we ordered but it had a kick to it), ravioli, zig zag wings & garlic breadsticks. The food was okay. Almost everything we ordered was served with the same marinara sauce. The alfredo and pesto pasta dishes lacked seasoning as well. For dessert we ordered a dense chocolate cake which was decent. Food arrived quickly but they did mess up our wings sauce but we were hungry so did not send it back. I was just telling hubby, on our way back from Prineville, that we should stop for dinner, at our favorite restaurant, that 'reminds me of Norway!', and we just passed by. He made a U-turn, but they're not open. We spotted this restaurant, right across the highway, we pulled in and found out they're open still. Their Special written on a chackboard, got my attention: Chicken Tortellini . . . mushroom . . . whatever! We were seated right away! And our order taken. Just like that! I've not been here before, but I certainly started taking photos, I was amazed! (I'm glad nobody stared at me, because I'm like a little kid opening a new toy). I LOVE the soup: Italian Wedding Soup. I almost forgot to have hubby have a taste, I was almost done, and left all the little things, mostly broth. Zig Zag Inn is a classic place for me and my family. We came back from Mt. Hood and decided it would be fun to try it again, because we hadn't been for a while. We ordered malts and they were so good! My daughter ordered spaghetti and one meatball, and the cost for that was $3.75 which amazed me, and it was very high quality and perfect for the weather. I got a French dip and two pieces of garlic toast, and we had to get more garlic toast because we all loved it. My daughters really liked the decor, and they said it was cozy. They loved the antlers and the licenses plates. I do think it was a pretty epic restaurant. The lady that served us was so nice, she never messed up and she told us the flavors of the milkshakes very clearly and she had to carry quite a bit, but was very steady. So soggy, & SO much sauce. Overflowing in sauce. Cheese is too much, not melted completely, and greasy. The dough is beyond soggy there is no crunch to this. The customer service was amazing. Our waitress was so nice. We ordered mozzarella sticks, spaghetti, soup and salad and the strip steak. They ran out of soup so I got the chili. It tasted a little burnt but it was edible. The steak was tender but not seasoned at all. Coming from the south we are used to steaks being seasoned. The burger was good. I had a lemon drop martini which was good. Not the worst food I have ever had but again being from the south we are used to things being super flavored. read more
