Stopped by here for a late lunch after our hike at Falls Creek Falls. Thankful that the place was not too crowded since we were starving. Our server/host seated us promptly and brought us water right away, which I really appreciated. The ambiance was very relaxing, which we needed after a long day of walking. The menu had a great variety of sandwiches, burgers, and salads. We ordered the Smoked Columbia River Spread - a house specialty made with smoked salmon and sturgeon - as well as the Smoked Bacon and Bleu burger for my husband, and the grilled salmon salad for me. The items we ordered were delicious! The burger and fish were prepared perfectly, and I loved the mustard and dill dressing that came with the salad. Excellent service and great food! This place was so good we ate here twice in 4 days in the area. Had lunch the first time. We both had huge fried chicken sandwiches that were very well seasoned. We went back for dinner a few days later. My wife had the lasagna which was really saucy and cheesy if you like it that way as we do. I had the meatloaf which was amazing. Seriously, when you order a slice of pie, have it served first. Alas, I made an adult decision to eat it last. It was really good. This place was busy for a Monday evening. The food is really good here. I had the garlic shrimp pasta dish. When I am in the area again, I am definitely having the pie to start my lunch or dinner. Don't let the four and a half rating lead you to dine here. Cajun chicken sandwich was awful. The chicken was rubbery and raw!! My wife did enjoy the vegetarian chili, but her salad bagged lettuce with croutons... really! A few tomatoes or sliced cucumbers would go a long way. I stay in Stevenson every summer and when big river grill first opened I dined there and it wasn't good. That was many years ago. So I went there just 2 days ago and unfortunately it wasn't good My burger bun was old and the upgrade (3.50) for sweet potato fries We're also not good. 22.00 for bad burger and fries. Husband have fish and tots (3.50) xtra for tots and 1 piece of the fish was mostly empty inside the breading Won't be back ever! Service was good Yes you've survived only because you don't have much competition I truly wanted to have enjoyed our meal but no. Red bluff is so much better and backwoods in Carson yes so good. read more

We ordered dinner to go on a Saturday night. Service was sufficient, and the wait for our food to be ready was about 20 minutes. The wild sockeye salmon cakes were delightful, with a nice crunch and a tasty sauce on the side. The smoked salmon alfredo was so satisfying, creamy and flavorful and quite unique. My boyfriend enjoyed the smoky garlic shrimp, and even though it was a large serving size, he finished every last bite. We were hungry, no doubt, after a hike earlier in the day. Nice spot in Stevenson WA. Very busy and maybe need one more server because incredibly slow, or a table busser so the servers don't have to do it. Food was another story. Just amazing. Everything tasted great. A few call outs. Does bacon really need to be in tomato soup? My vegetarian wife wouldn't even try the vegetarian beans because she thought you might share the base sauce. I actually could barely taste any bacon? So again the why? Homemade bread. Someone is making this fresh for them. Only problem was it fell apart while trying to eat it. Maybe cut into 4 squares instead of two triangles. M said the portobello sammy and fries were just the best. Took a nice drive out to Stevenson, WA on a sunny spring weekend Saturday! We stopped here to get a bite to eat and cocktail before checking out the Carson Hot Springs. We shared a spinach salad with a delicious garlic dressing and a bacon burger! The fries were so crispy and yummy Topped the meal off with a slice of their Smores Cheesecake! Visited as a guest from American Cruise Lines. Convenient location, just a few blocks from docking. Per the pics, the quantity of the food was more than plenty. The burger was a two-hander and the bowl size of the tomato soup was enough to feed two. Food was hot and excellent taste/quality. Our water glasses were kept full and service was commendable. That was 4 years ago, when we stopped here! I said, the next time we come back, I'll order the Reuben Sandwich, and the Manhattan Clam Chowder (again). Hubby ordered the same, Black Bean Soup. Black Bean Soup, came with tortilla & salsa. He said it was very good, as usual! He also ordered the Fish & Chips with Coleslaw. I think it was fried a bit too long. I didn't care for the tartar sauce. The slaw was good. Half came home with us, I'll have it with my hotdog wrapped in crescent rolls with mustard (another meal, perhaps). I was a bit disappointed in my Manhattan Clam Chowder! There's more chunks of potatoes & tomatoes and probably 4 clams. It should have been Manhattan Vegetable Chowder! My sandwich was so thick, and as usual I only ate half. Half went for another meal (and it was even better the 2nd day, since I add veggie dip and hubby's leftover French Fries. The best part about sleepy small towns is that the surprises are huge! Burger and fries can be meh-- not here! Juicy, hot, well dressed and perfectly cooked. This place is a destination spot. We live about one hours drive and we come here just for lunch. The smoked salmon fetuchini Alfredo is absolutely to die for. The salmon is nice and Smokey, perfectly cooked and just like you would like you salmon. The pasta was creamy and picked up all of the Smokey notes from the salmon. They other wonderful entrees but we can't seem to order anything but the salmon Alfredo. It that wasn't enough we decided to split the lemon cheese cake. This is a flavor of cheesecake we'd never had before. The cheesecake was creamy and bright with lemon flavors. Nothing tasted artificial. It was a perfect finish to a great meal read more

I've stopped in here quite a few times over the decades when doing various runs up the gorge on the Washington side. This place used to be a well kept secret even though it's right on the main drag. The entrance is somewhat non-descript so it's easy to putt on by without notice. In recent years it's gotten a lot more popular especially with the geezer yuppie crowd. I guess they would be guppies? BRG is a bit too upscale for me although they do have an active clientele of greasy Bikers like me. Well, not exactly like me. Very popular with the more money than brains road glide crowd. First time I came here, eons ago, it was in the dead of Winter and I just stopped for a cup of coffee and to get warm. I recall that a cupa joe was an incredible $5! And that was when $5 was real money. Great coffee but holy cow! This is not a "good food and lots of it on the cheap" diner. But if you're craving some outstanding grub the chow here wil put a smile on your face. Very tasty. Really quite good. Outstanding. Burgers, sandwiches, chowders. I've yet to have a bad meal here. I've never seen the same waitress twice but that could just be because i am only an occasional customer. Wait service varies but it's usually quite good and quite attentive as you would expect at an upscale establishment. It can get quite crowded on non-Winter weekends so finding a free table could be an issue. I've never experienced a wait list but being long retired I usually hit the place on weekdays now. There used to be a greasy spoon diner very close by that was my regular go-to but they closed some years ago. I think a Mexican restaurant is at the location now. 40 years ago the dining options were sparse in Stevenson but these days there are several good options here. Parking a car out front can be problematic but there is plenty of parking an easy walking distance away. I've never had a problem finding a spot to squeeze my bike into. Usually on the North side of SR14 right across the street. If I recall correctly, the BRG has been in Stevenson longer than any other restaurant. They definitely have an active following and for good reason. read more

The food was really good but the service was terrible. I highly recommend the sweet potatoes fries and the burgers. Jacy the hostess was awesome and super friendly. She was going above and beyond to try to help the whole restaurant. Meanwhile our waitress was absent pretty much the whole time. Never checked in, didn't refill our waters, despite asking. We were disappointed to later learn there was a prime rib special when our waitress just rushed us to order and never said anything about it. read more

I was in town and got the best dang Rubin sandwich I'd had in years. Will keep coming back as long as the doors are open. Love you guys.

First of all, it wasn't too long of a wait but our food had sat for a while before we got it. the people at my table said the country fried steak was like chewing rubber, my food was fine but my cousins food had cold eggs. The server had an attitude and we had to go up to get our check after many people saw empty plates and people not eating. people came after us and got their food way before we did, and not just 1 table. decor was ok, but the decor was filling a lot of the walls and a lot to take in. 2 stars. read more

We started with soup, and it was delicious, so we had high hopes. If you eat here, and they have the African chicken peanut soup, you have to try it! Unfortunately, the spaghetti and meatballs was super disappointing, the meatballs were like little leather balls, sauce very bland. Grilled portobello sandwich was better, but not great. read more
