Friendly and relaxed vibe at the front counter.

Y'ALL. The breakfast place Hood River has been begging for is finally here, and it's Kimberly's Cauldron. The service is so friendly and patient. Perfect small town vibes that welcome both locals and tourists alike. If you miss what it was like back in the day at Caroline's (now Egg Harbor), this is it, just more friendly. Space for kiddos to play, comfy couch and chair setup, and gorgeous community art on the walls. It's pretty and the people are nice. *But the FOOD.* The biscuits and gravy are easily the best in the Gorge. The biscuits are uniquely toasted on each side and the gravy is so flavorful! Whether vegetarian or meat, these folks make a mean gravy. The pancakes aren't what you're expecting in the best possible way. Indescribably delicious-- a breakfast dessert to die for! Can't recommend anywhere in HR for breakfast more than Kimberly's. Many thanks. We will be back!

The rumors are true. Amazing and massive breakfast burritos. Delicious chipotle sauce. The green smoothie was awesome. Next time I'm in Hood River I'll be back for sure.

Gorgeous Bowl with fresh kale hiding under all this!

So yummy! Breakfast and lunch! Gluten free bowls, hot chili and soup, nostalgic grilled cheese sandwiches, daily specials, and more . Woman owners! Art work is unique and music is gentle which goes with the ambiance. It's one of Hood River's newest and healthiest spots to dine.

    Biscuits and gravy

The best breakfast in town as well as the best biscuits and gravy. When they do dinner, don't miss it.

This is our go-to spot for vegetarian biscuits and gravy. The corn chowder is not vegetarian (has bacon) but also very delicious!

So slow we could have toured the town and made it back before order was ready. Very disappointed with only 2 other tables waiting.

Street parking, right next to the Mt. Hood Hotel (part of it?). Lovely decor, outside tables were set up but a little too chilly that morning. Loved the large bar and small tables setup with an inside set of booths. Friendly and warm service, coffee was served in glass mugs, felt like home :) We ordered the trout hash and the onion+mushroom hash. Both were unique and delicious! Served with warm walnut bread, just delightful! Highly recommend a stopover if driving through or even stopping for a hike at the nearby falls.

Ordered based on previous reviews and it so worked out. Had great fluffy Danish pancakes, look like donut holes but tastes like the fluffiest pancakes. And both the lemon curd and the lingonberry jam were outstanding. We also had the fruit fritters and baked eggs and sausage which was also great. Overall not a bad bite to be had. The place was busy and fairly crowded and loud, which was OK, but if you are looking for quiet and relaxing, this is not the place for you.

Definitely got the small town diner feel here, and everything on the menu sounded so good! They also have a specials board inside so make sure to take a look before you make your decision. I finally decided on the south of the border omelette, which also comes with hash browns or potatoes or fruit, and a biscuit or muffin or toast. Such a satisfying and filling meal! The omelette itself was not short on ingredients at all, and I loved the cilantro. The menu did mention homemade salsa but I didn't see any of that on the side or inside. Other than that, the eggs were cooked nicely. I picked the chorizo biscuit on the side and it was so soft and fluffy inside! I also appreciated the amount of options on the kids menu. There was plenty more options than just your standard pancake, bacon, and eggs. Our kids loved the pigs in a blanket which was actually quite big and perfect for our two kids to split. Service was awesome, our server was so kind and even brought out our friend's son's maple bar with a candle because he mentioned it was his birthday. She did it without us even asking which was so sweet! The food came out so quickly too despite the entire restaurant being full. Great experience here at Bette's!

We all got different sandwiches and every single one of us loved what we got. Wasn't too busy on a Friday morning, plenty of open seating. They did have pastries as well but did not partake. Got to taste the sandwich with the jam and loved it. Kind of wish I got that sandwich instead just cause of the jam. The bread was really good too- I think they were homemade english muffins. Everything on the sandwich was just chef's kiss! All of the employees were really nice. The place was clean as you have to "buss" your own table. Glad that people can follow directions. The drinks my group ordered came out piping hot and was served with a smile. Cool spot!

You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The dining space is bright with tons of seating. I love that they make their own bread!! It's super soft and such a nice touch. I usually go with the turkey which has turkey, white cheddar, tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce, and hot mustard. It was a bit spicier than I would have liked, not that it was too hot, but that flavor was really dominant for me so I'd probably modify it a bit in the future or just build my own . My daughter loved her ham sandwich which comes with sprouts, avocado, and cucumber. My husband also really liked his Italian and their clam chowder. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are hungry in the Gorge!

Everyone else is already finishing up their drinks and meals. Wanting just one drink after a long day, I head to the bar! My wife asks me to get her one too. Here's where it gets bizarre. Kickstand has a bar...well, it looks like a bar. But what I found out is that it's just for looks because it doesn't act like a bar. I thought ordering two cocktails and paying for my drinks would be easy, like it is at every bar in town. But the bartender, I mean employee standing behind a bar, asked if I was with the large group. I stated, "yes, I was." Then she proceeded to tell me that the drinks would be on someone's tab. But I showed up late...I don't know what's happening. I don't know who's paying for the "tab". I just wanted to buy two drinks and walk away. But that wasn't allowed at Kickstand. Then another employee walks up and attempts to take my drink order. Super confused, I tell her the employee standing behind the bar just took my drink order. And then we proceeded down the tab conversation again. The second employee said because "we" were a party of 8 or more, I couldn't pay for my own drinks and I they would have to put it on the party's tab. But again, I don't know who owns the tab. If it was the woman having the birthday, I didn't want to add to her bill...on her birthday. Then they suggested I "could just Venmo" the party girl. No! I want to just order two drinks and have Kickstand take my money. Why wouldn't they just take my money?! The place was dead tonight, other than the 5 or so small daycarel families, sitting at their own tables, that made up the "party". I canceled my drink order and walked away out of protest and principal. When asked if I was with the big party, I should have said no I guess. Lesson leaned for next time, if there is a next time. Kickstand, you're so difficult and frustrating!!

Service was prompt, and the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant. It's kind of funny because you'll have people in suits having a business meeting over dinner, and other regular hotel guests just dining casually in t-shirts and jeans. On both occasions, I was dining with another family member. When we were there for dinner, we were having a really hard time deciding what to order, and our server let us know that there was a 2-for deal going on for some of the pastas. Each of us had been considering a pasta, so that solved that problem! Both were delicious, and we had leftovers to take home. When we were there for breakfast, I was feeling adventurous and ordered the lox and bagel, which I've only had a very basic version of one other time. It was soooo good, and very filling. Several other options on the breakfast menu also sounded really good, but I'm glad I went with this for the experience. I'd definitely eat here again if/when I stay in the hotel again. Since there's no free breakfast offered by the hotel, they give you vouchers for the restaurant, so you can get a pretty good deal on a meal.

They have plenty of outdoor seating for your little pups, though the water dish they left out was unattended to. As far as food, they had a whole plant-based menu to meet my vegan needs. More important, they were able to make a gluten-free sandwich for my partner with celiac. They took precautions to minimize cross-contact with gluten items, including wrapping the sandwich up separately and bringing it out to us first before bringing out our gluten containing items. The three in our group had mixed reviews on the food quality. I enjoyed my reuben very much. My partner and his mom thought their food was okay, and their portions were too small for the price. As far as the actual store goes, they carry a lot of what your typical natural foods store or food co-op would carry, though the prices seem more along the lines of what a Whole Foods would charge. For example, $3.50 for a single avocado. Considering that they are a small business in a somewhat touristy town, I guess that is a sound business decision. All in all, a good experience, just expect to pay a little more if you are going to shop or eat there!
