    Danish Pancakes (Aebleskiver) (half order)
    Shannon M.

Nice little restaurant attached to a hotel. We were told that there would be about a 20 minute wait before being sat down, which is understandable. Did see that about half the restaurant was empty though, so figure they were just a bit behind on orders. We were promptly sat right at the 20 minute mark then immediately had our order taken which was good. But then we waited about 50 minutes for our food to arrive which was a bit frustrating. I personally would not have minded to have waited longer for a seat if it meant getting our food sooner, we could have used that time to walk around the city center, or may have considered an alternative for a quicker breakfast. Once we did get our food, it was ok, nothing spectacular in my opinion. I would say it offers some more traditional and unique options, but personally do not think it's worth the wait. Giving it 2 stars moreso for the atmosphere and staff, and because the food was unique in that instance. But I would say this is a spot to go to if you have no rush or plans made for the day, good for those willing to wait or take breakfast nice and slow.

    Swedish hash with smoked trout

A really neat Swedish brunch spot located conveniently in the Hood River Hotel lobby. The old school fireplace creates a really cozy vibe. Note it could get busy on the weekends and service may get backed up, leave extra time if needed. The menu consists of traditional Swedish dishes. Highlights include: the Danish pancakes and smoked trout. The pancakes were super soft and paired perfectly with the maple syrup. For protein choice definitely go for the trout; it's smoked really well and the saltiness goes well with everything. Overall a great brunch spot, we'd recommend!

Wow, absolutely fabulous Swedish breakfast/lunch spot! My husband and I came here for the first time last month after we picked up our marriage license and were delighted at our experience at Broder Øst! The service was efficient and friendly as well as helpful! When we came back with my youngest brother our server recommended the breakfast sandwich with a potato pancake side to put inside it and it was phenomenal! He said it's the best breakfast sandwich he's had! The ambiance is cozy Scandinavian (Hygge!). We had such a nice meal that we made sure to come back before leaving town after our wedding! We recommended it to all of our friends and family who were in town for our wedding as well!

Food was good! We drove here to check out the area and my cousin recommended this restaurant. It took quite some time to just put our name down for seating (they dont have a lot of servers) and then about an hour before being seated. We were warned about their slowness so we walked around and went shopping until being called to come in. Probably wouldn't go back but happy we got to go. Our server was very nice.

The best breakfast experience I had during my trip to Colombia river gorge. This place is cozy and stylish and serves an amazing Swedish food. I had a Swedish breakfast board and loved every element of it. Rye bread, cheese, smoked trout and not too sweet granola yogurt- everything right to my taste! My husband loved his Swedish hash on a cute skillet as well. Service was friendly but took a little while for food to get to our table. Nice place to have breakfast or brunch if you are in Hood River.

I love Broder back in Portland and I was super excited to try this place. It has the cutest setup and each table is thoughtfully set. The food was excellent as always and it was so cozy on a cold rainy day. I highly recommend. Probably not for picky eaters but definitely for anyone with actual taste

Nordic Pancake balls served with Lingonberry compote and lemon curd!

The staff are amazing, beyond helpful, friendly! The food was some of the best I've ever had! By far the best experience I've had out of town!

So goood!!!!!!!!!!! Started off with a dirty chai for me (one of the most spectacular dirty chais I've ever had.---) Wife had a hot chocolate (with a bonus shot of espresso) topped with whipped cream. 10/10 presentation --- 11/10 taste & vibez. We shared the hot dog/ veggie hash/ pancakes----- not what I was expecting, but also spectacularly excellent!!!! Great vibe over here, would strongly recommend if you're in the hood river area!!!!

Great find on Hood River. Tiny little place that is connected to a historic hotel right in town. The menu is a bit small but lovely authentic Swedish dishes. We sat out front at a little table and enjoyed people watching. We had a bit of a wait but it was busy. The food was vey good. Had Swedish meatballs and a hot dog with some different toppings . It was all very good.

OMG!! I was so excited to try this place and I was NOT disappointed! I am Norwegian and my husband is Swedish. When looking for places to eat here in Hood River I found this place and because of our heritage we had to try it. I had the Lefse, (Norwegian crepe) with chèvre and a salad. I added the Lingonberry jam. It came with a perfectly dressed salad and an egg over easy. He got the Swedish Board it was amazing! Came with Chèvre, fruit, 2 cheeses, pickles, ham, and more. He loved his and we are still talking about it! The coffee was good and they bring warm frothed milk! The interior is super cute and clean. The server was so nice!! I can't say enough good about it! Hopeful to eat there again before we go home. Don't miss this place if you're in Hood River!

Hash with short ribs and ham. The walnut toast is so yummy

Absolutely incredible. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, but the waitstaff was beyond impressive. We had the hash, bacon and eggs, and shared the pancakes. My father is older and doesn't hear very well, and our server was so sweet and gentle with him. It really warmed my heart and made us all feel at home. Can't wait to return

    Lost Eggs. Porridge. Breakfast sandwich.

Wow! Conveniently located downtown with outdoor seating. Friendly service. The food was excellent. We got the porridge, lost eggs, and breakfast sandwich. All were very unique and delicious. Especially the porridge with the cardamom milk! Delicious.

Great breakfast in downtown Hood River. The bacon was amazing as well. The menu has some Swedish-themed food and generous portions.

One of them suggested Broder Nord and I'm so glad they did. It's a restaurant I've wanted to try. We were still able to snag a table mid-day on a Sunday. The staff were friendly and efficient, the dining area was light filled and airy. But the food-yummo! My one complaint is that they don't have any mocktails or NA beer or wine. But the coffee was quite good. The four of us shared the pancakes, which are more like pancake balls. They were soft and delicious. We ordered lemon curd and lingonberry jam to spread on them. I loved that they weren't very sweet, it was like having a not too sugary treat. For an entree, I had the Swedish hash with trout, which is topped with baked eggs. It was simply divine. One of my friends had the Lost Eggs, which is eggs baked with creamed spinach. She raved about the delicious sauce. Another had an open faced sandwich with a potato pancake and our other friend had the sausages, which come topped with some salad veggies, and a pastry. Everyone really enjoyed their food. One friend bought a large cookie we all split, it was like a butter cookie with lemon curd in the center. Again, not too sweet but totally delicious. Take a trip to Scandinavia at Broder Nord!

It's no secret that the quality of furniture making is in decline. It's just easier to mold it out…read moreof sawdust and glue, or mold it out of plastic. The sad thing is that the molded sawdust is sheathed with veneer, thin sheets of wood peeled from often old growth trees or endangered tropical hardwoods. Often that tree that took a hundred years or more to grow, is being used to make a piece of furniture with a life of 3-5 years. Don't let us get started into veneer poaching http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/california/Redwood-Park-Closes-Road-to-Deter-Burl-Poachers-248659171.html. Or hardwoods fueling war lords. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/liberia-ex-forestry-boss-arrested-corruption. That's just sick. The Good Mod is going against that grain. Their specialty is mid-century modern from the Scandinavian invasion. Those Vikings and their furniture! They refinish or reupholster the pieces as necessary and the price reflects that. If you have ever priced having a piece of furniture shot with a couple coats of lacquer by a professional, who also, by the way, is being paid to properly handle lacquer, which is very toxic, you know. But those prices are comparable to the new price in its time. And you are getting a piece of furniture you can pass down generations. In fact, some of it may become design auction material in the future. They were good on my visit with cadenzas, occasional chairs, classic Knoll chairs, a few sofas, lighting. They also gather up some industrial artifacts and repurpose them, if that fits your aesthetics. One of their newest spec pieces is a walnut ping pong table, which could also be used as a dining table. This item would fit well into the tech startup world. If you are an art director or set decorator they would be a good resource. The Good Mod has moved around and as of this writing are up a creaky elevator or quite a few stairs on the fourth floor. But that gives them a new big cheap space. And note to new arrivers decorating your Pearl condos - if you can rock this style, you can patronize a great Portland reuse business. You can even fib a little and claim your hip grandparents/parents/you bought it new! The Good Mod cleans up and restores furniture from the mid-century modernist age. Reduce, reuse, recycle! Be cool, stay cool, keep cool! (Thanks to Mr Oscar Brown Jr)
