I do wish the cashier/check out area was more well defined. People did not know where to go to get in line in the order the staff were doing it. So mabye some signs. Also people standing in the way of the cash out area since it is not well defined.

I see items that take me back to my childhood home, pieces I haven't thought about in years. My face lights up remembering a curved side table, a Sputnik light and metal flower wall art similar to what adorned our den. Or a set of whiskey sour glasses like the ones my dad drank from, prints on pillows that are in photographs in my family album. Do not consign furniture with this company! Similar to an…read moreearlier Google review from Renetta, I had a very poor experience as a consigner with this business. I consigned 7 pieces with them in February 2023. Michael, the owner of the business, violated the terms of consignment contract in two ways and was just a poor business person to deal with. He violated the agreement by lowering prices for my pieces below the agreed threshold without notifying me, as was required. And he did not make payments to me following sales of individual items as was also required. Perhaps more importantly, as Renetta experienced, he provided no documentation whatsoever as to the actual sales of the items - no receipts, invoices sent to clients, no notation of sales prices per item, nothing. He just said the total proceeds were XXX$ (less than 50% of his original estimation). So he could have been completely making the number up. Because of this I asked for a report with prices by pieces and receipts. He refused to provide one. When I eventually gave up on that, he then ignored my requests for payment until I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I was finally paid for my pieces almost a year after consigning them. I am a small business owner myself. I store receipts for every transaction my business conducts. If someone asks for a receipt or record of a transaction I can provide it easily. For Michael, this is too much to ask.

Michael, the owner, gave me a cheerful greeting upon entry and welcomed me into the store. He gave me details on several items I was checking out, and since he didn't have the Eames chairs in the particular color and leg style I'm seeking, he offered to reach out to his network and get back to me. Now that is service! The store is deceivingly large so take your time and go through every room. In addition to couches, occasional chairs, dining tables and chairs, there are coffee tables, ottomans, side tables, lamps, hanging lights, chandeliers, pottery, vases, some dinnerware and some beautiful art. They even knew my pets names the first day. We hired Matt to paint the entire inside and outside of our house, the outside of our shed and shop, and pressure wash our driveway and patio. Matt bid the high-end Benjamin Moore outdoor paint by default, which was competitively priced with the lower end paint bids by others. The other unique item was Matt's work came with a 5-year workmanship warranty. If I had questions or thought something needed to be touched-up, Matt answered questions or touched up work no questions asked. He wanted to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was when added to the scope of work. I sent photos, he gave a bid, and we agreed to the price. When he came to the house, Matt said he could do the work less and reduced his bid even though we already agreed to the higher amount. Matt's team are good painters and it's clear he takes pride in the quality of his work. I strongly recommend him and would hire him again. The only heads-up I would give (not a negative, just a heads up) is if you want any texturing work done, make sure to communicate your expectations with Matt. Matt was clear with us regarding his team's texturing limitations, which I appreciated. Matt did a good job sanding and texturing to remove an obvious line across the middle of the room, this isn't part of his normal scope that was included in our bid.

My favorite vintage furniture store in Portland. It might not be the biggest but has the best selection of quality reasonably priced midcentury furniture along with some great art pieces and vintage pottery. A couple months ago I bought a beautifully restored teak dining table, a set of six teak dining chairs that Jake reupholstered for me in a nice blue/grey fabric he had available, and a midcentury walnut sideboard. When Jake and Michael delivered everything they also explained to me how to care for it - I really appreciated their enthusiasm and friendly, open attitude. Michael even kept an eye out for a long low dresser for me and called me last week when they had one that matched what I was looking for. I can't speak highly enough of this store and of Jake and Michael. They're kind, professional, and incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. After months of haunting the vintage stores of Portland, I found an absolutely beautiful dresser at Red Snapper and was lucky enough to snag it even before it had brand new pulls attached. Sadly, about six months later I found myself moving across the country and unable to bring the dresser along for the ride. Jake and Michael agreed to pick up the dresser from my apartment and sell it on consignment to someone who would love it as much as I did. My wife and I were looking for a few pieces to add to our collection for our new house. We are always looking for unique, quality pieces, which seem to be so hard to find in most of the shops around town. We stopped by Red Snapper on our way home today and immediately found a number of exciting pieces that we thought might work for us. I fell in live with a teak dining table and chairs and was fortunate to also find a lovely desk. I've bought a few things here on different occasions and everything seems to fall apart. The shaker I got had a hole in it. How can you make a drink in a shaker that has a hole in the bottom?! You can't. Then I bought a side table/console and the drawer literally deteriorated within weeks. It boggles my mind this place has 5 stars. I absolutely love The Joinery. They have an incredible selection of designs and woods to drool…read moreover. The sales room always smells like beautifully oiled wood. In addition to the numerous designs of virtually anything you could want in wood furniture, they also have some art, beautiful tiles, kitchen accessories, children's keepsake toys, I say keepsake because they're classic in design and pretty indestructible. We purchased a wooden nativity scene one year so I wouldn't have to worry about the grandkids playing with the sheep and other characters in the set. It's become a much loved family tradition. My husband and I bought really beautiful kitchen stools several years ago and then moved into a new house where their height became too tall. We brought them into the Joinery and asked them if they could modify the height by taking off part of the legs. They were able to do that and then made us 2 more at the revised lower height to go with our originals. Taking it one step further, they made our originals look like new by lovingly removing the scratches and dings that had developed over the several years of use. You couldn't tell the new from the old. The customer service is great, very knowledgeable, professional, passionate about their product and friendly to work with. The Joinery is definitely pricey, but the pieces definitely make if worth saving and planning for.

As for the parking, what place in Portland doesn't have less than ideal parking arrangements? There's off street parking as well as a back alley where atleast 4 cars can park parallel. To me this is such a small issue in retrospect to paying HUNDREDS of dollars less. Okay now to my experience. My friend purchased a couch through furniture plus and they were able to get it delivered within a week to the store. I went to her house and fell in love with it so of course I had to ask them if they had another in stock. Well just my luck another one was delivering the next day, so I went immediately and claimed it. The owner is awesome and it was a hassle free experience. I've dealt with other places in the past which feel so "sales-y" this was a completely different experience. I got my couch today and I absolutely love it, I am going to recommend this place to everyone!

Their specialty is mid-century modern from the Scandinavian invasion. Those Vikings and their furniture! They refinish or reupholster the pieces as necessary and the price reflects that. If you have ever priced having a piece of furniture shot with a couple coats of lacquer by a professional, who also, by the way, is being paid to properly handle lacquer, which is very toxic, you know. But those prices are comparable to the new price in its time. And you are getting a piece of furniture you can pass down generations. In fact, some of it may become design auction material in the future. They were good on my visit with cadenzas, occasional chairs, classic Knoll chairs, a few sofas, lighting. We went to visit the labrador statue that year and every time we drove by we said hi to him. Tonight my husband gifted him to me and it's the best gift I ever received. He said they were sad to see him go but I want them to know he will be a part of every evening family movie, every birthday, every Christmas. We feel like we have a piece of our Murphy back home! BOTH disabled parking spots (we have a permit) were blocked by a food truck. We were able to maneuver to get in with a wheelchair and let the salesperson know it was probably not legal to allow disabled parking spots near the door to be blocked. Reese, the salesperson said he understood and that it would be moved. We looked at bedroom furniture sets and discovered the custom made furniture that can be painted any color a customer chooses according to Reese. We liked the look but had one more store to look at before making a decision. After looking elsewhere we called Reese later that day (his phone # was now in our contacts as we were very serious about making a purchase) and spoke with him on the phone about the custom furniture. He sent us some photos of the different pieces. My wife replied by text and asked for more information....NOTHING! She texted him again and asked for more information....NOTHING! No text, no call....NOTHING! Two days later, we texted Reese and asked him to have the owner, Trent, call us. NO call. The next day, I called, got voicemail and asked Trent to call me that I had a concern I wanted to discuss. NON return call! It appears when you are at Broadway Furniture they pay attention to you, attempt to sell you furniture and are very responsive. IF you try to contact them for more information, to ask a question, or file a complaint, they ghost you and don't seem to care about you as a potential customer. Following the bad experience with Broadway Furniture, we called NW Furniture Mfg., the company that Reese had showed us their high quality furniture that we wanted to buy. NW Furniture Mfg. gave us the names of two other stores that can order custom furniture in the Portland area. We contacted one of those furniture stores, were encouraged by the salespersons professionalism and so we drove to that store. We looked at custom pieces and placed an order for a $10,000.00 bedroom set!!! (see receipt) Hopefully, next time someone asks for additional information on a product, Broadway Furniture will respond to the customer and save the sale and their reputation. Or maybe better yet, find another store who will treat you as a valued customer!
