Cuuute little corner cafe in Hood River. Stopped by after exploring some falls and their food was delicious! Simple, fresh & tasty. We all got different sandwiches and every single one of us loved what we got. Wasn't too busy on a Friday morning, plenty of open seating. They did have pastries as well but did not partake. Ordered the bagel and lox which was amazing- came with all the fixings such as tomatoes, capers & red onions. The salmon was fresh and the bagel was nice and toasty, just the way I prefer. Got to taste the sandwich with the jam and loved it. Kind of wish I got that sandwich instead just cause of the jam. The bread was really good too- I think they were homemade english muffins. Everything on the sandwich was just chef's kiss! All of the employees were really nice. The place was clean as you have to "buss" your own table. Glad that people can follow directions. We've been here twice, both times to grab sandwiches after a morning of hiking in the Gorge. They have a pretty big menu and offer options with soups, salads, and sandwiches, which I love! You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The dining space is bright with tons of seating. I love that they make their own bread!! It's super soft and such a nice touch. I usually go with the turkey which has turkey, white cheddar, tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce, and hot mustard. It was a bit spicier than I would have liked, not that it was too hot, but that flavor was really dominant for me so I'd probably modify it a bit in the future or just build my own . My daughter loved her ham sandwich which comes with sprouts, avocado, and cucumber. My husband also really liked his Italian and their clam chowder. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are hungry in the Gorge! read more

Quite a bad visit, with one caveat. Upon entering we went to the counter to order, looking forward to the good food we've had here a few times. First impression, the young woman at the counter was not welcoming or even friendly, yet physically pushed the tip jar towards my husband as he was preparing to run his card. Never a good look. Next, our waffle and sandwich arrive. Both have been great on other visits, this time drastically different. The egg sandwich was almost flavorless, but our waffle was an epic fail. It seemed quite pale when he set it down, but starving I cut off a large bite immediately, only to find out what raw sourdough tastes like...and it's not pleasant. My husband took it back up to the counter, receiving no regrets & no letting us know they'd get another started. We finished our coffees and sandwich and waited; after 15 minutes he went back to peek in the kitchen at which point an employee walked to the iron and out it came. Only this time it wasn't just extra crunchy, it was so overcooked there was no longer a center. Both still hungry, my husband washed down about 1/3 of the 2nd waffle and we headed out...again, still hungry. Luckily the one positive, I'd ordered a cinnamon roll to-go with our order to enjoy later and it was very good. Order at the counter and the kind folks here will bring your food to you at a table in there very comfortable dining room. There are some high tops, picnic tables, a sofa with a table and kids books and some regular small tables and chairs to choose from. This place has a very casual and comfortable feel to it. I see two large glass garage doors that they must slide open during the warmer months.. One in our party ordered a bowl of clam chowder and it was an incredibly thick almost stew like concoction that was very good and came with a large portion of bread. The kid with us got the peanut butter and banana with honey sandwich that came with apple slices, all of which he adored, and another in our party shared a veggie sandwich with me that was delightful. The veggie sandwich was very generous with the avocado and comes with cheese, onion, tomato, cucumber, and pickle on the side with some really nice alfalfa sprouts that I particularly appreciated. We also shared a magnificent soft pretzel that was steaming hot and had outstanding cheese sauce served with it. The cinnamon bun was a highlight and I definitely recommend asking to have it warmed up. The only downside was that we waited over 30 minutes for our food even though we were among the first to order. Still, the staff did a great job. This was an open place. You can watch them cook, the garage glass door was open to see everything outside. Clean. Smaller menu but you don't need much, it was quick & easy, yummy food here. It's a popular place as the long lines underscore. I'm here in off hours so never have to wait long. You order at the counter and they bring your meal to you. Standouts for me are the T-Rex breakfast sandwich. The standard egg, cheese and choice of protein and I go with the sausage. I'm not a fan of egg whites - meaning can't stand the taste of or texture of egg whites - so I ask for the egg scrambled. Served on a homemade English Muffin, which is way better than store bough, this sandwich is definitely a weekend indulgence for me. Sooo good! My second fave is the tuna fish sandwich. They use local line caught tuna combined with mayo & red onion, served on choice of bread, I order whole wheat and they top with tomato and sprouts for a simple, delicious and satisfying lunch. It actually comes with avocado too, which I leave off; again a texture thing for me. Employees are friendly. There are lots of vegetarian options and even gluten free bread. They also serve coffee and baked goods but I haven't tried any of them yet. There are always people hanging here, a combo of locals and those visiting Hood River. read more

After the farmers market, I walked a couple of blocks to grab a bite to eat here. I loved that they offered their breakfast sandwiches on gluten-free bread!!!! I had an T-Rex without cheese, it was pretty good. I really enjoyed their fruit smoothy because it is just frozen berries with apple cider (no dairy!). It was really good. You don't interact much with the staff as you order and pay a the register and they drop the food off at your table. It did take a while for them to prepare and deliver the food, so you need to be patient. You have to bus your own table and have to go back to the counter if you need anything additional. We visited a few weekends ago and we're really impressed. I ordered the pastrami and my husband ordered the special of the day, which was a cold turkey sandwich of sorts. Both were amazing and we devoured them. They also have a really great iced coffee. I highly recommend the iced toffee nut latte. I had it and could have drank 6 more. I also really enjoyed that they had white cheddar on their menu as an option - it's not something I usually see so definitely stood out! Sausage patty was flavorful and the egg was cooked a little runny but not oozing out of the muffin. Waaaay better as an option if you're looking for a mcmuffin in your morning. Bread had a nice chew and crunch to hold everything together - baked in house YUM. Come check them out if you want a delicious breakfast sandwich to fuel your day! I also tried their snickerdoodle latte and reminded me of a Starbucks holiday drink. On the sweeter side but nice option to cozy up to on a gloomy morning. Space is pretty large too with bar seating and tables so you have space to enjoy unless you just want to take it to go. After being highly recommended by a few locals, my friends and I stopped in for a sandwich and snacks before getting ready for a wedding. The staff was SO friendly; giving local recommendations, so excited to tell us that Mt. Hood had its first snowfall and so genuinely interested in what brought us to Hood River. We could've hung out with them all day! We got some sandwiches and lemonades and even some cans of local beer to-go back to our hotel room and were so impressed by everything, we scarfed it down without taking any photos. Finding gluten free food while traveling can be a bit difficult, especially in smaller areas. My fiance found this place along the route we were taking and I'm so glad that we stopped in! I had the gluten free bacon waffle with maple syrup and a gluten free muffin. The waffle was good. When I peeked inside the bag holding the muffin, it looked too good to be try. So much so that I asked a wait staff if it was indeed gluten free, they took one look and said no. They apologized and got me a gluten free one. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Stopped in here with a gang of friends during a fabulous weekend of exploring Hood River and the surrounding wineries on both sides of the Columbia. (So many to pick from!) River Daze Cafe was an incredible find. None of us are really sandwich people but when we walked in we decided we'd give it a shot anyway. It was incredible. We all had a different sandwich, Some hot, some cold, on either French or wheat bread, or an English muffin, ALL the bread is freshly made and incredible, and none of us were disappointed. They have something for everyone, including vegetarians, and I think they also have gf bread. You can but English muffins and some breads there to go as well, but you better get there early because they appear to sell out the fresh baked breads early in the day. They also had some incredible Looking pies in a cooler and a variety of tasty looking BIG cookies. All the veggies were fresh and delicious and my Turkey sandwich was truly one of the best I've ever had, the mustard was tangy and delicious too! I will definitely be back! I needed a quick bite before leaving town and was really craving a sandwich. I actually found River Daze cafe on yelp. Saw great reviews and quick access. Was able to park right out front and pop in and ordered a turkey sandwich that was on special with arugula, mama, Lils, peppers, and avocado. The French bread that the sandwich was on was something from the heavens. I've never had a French bread roll. That good. Kudos to the baker. Service was pretty good, they actually rung up my order incorrectly, but was quick to void transaction and get it squared away. Super friendly staff, and really great vibe. After driving up from Government camp area, we were looking forward to a casual lunch. This place located near the river was a great stop! They have a large menu of sandwiches, and you can tell all of their ingredients are fresh and the bread is homemade. We ordered two sandwiches (turkey melt + Italian), a latte, a lemonade, and a peanut butter cookie. All came out pretty quickly and were very good -- especially the lemonade and turkey melt. The French bread is delicious, especially toasted! I did feel like the latte was just average, and not worth adding when there's better coffee in town. They forgot the egg in my sandwich and then didn't make my drinks until after 10 minutes of waiting I had to go to the counter to ask them to.
