    Egg white omelette and hasbrowns
    Vijayalaxmi M.

This is one of the rare times I am writing about an American diner experience. Usually one would associate them with dry flavorless fare. That is until I had visited this place. Truly a quaint place with wholesome and delicious food options. I think I may have been deceived by the convenient, commercialized options. We'll now I know. I think when people say American breakfast - it should have well seasoned omelette options - fried, Benedict, omelette or may be just scrambled. Also included with side of fruits , hash browns or just potatoes. The omelettes to have different filling - isn't that capital! Bette's had all this where I could savor the unhurried hospitality and chefs skill both at same time. Quality first! You. An tell that the establishment care about the quality of food they serve. Service that immediately puts you at ease. Is this a five star rated place? No. Is this a Michelin star rated place? No. The reason I am speaking so much about this is because this is the base minimum of a restaurant. I feel that in the race of capitalism and the fast pace of life folks have forgotten what it is to be able to eat out and enjoy. What to expect from hospitality. If I could give 5 star ratings for the service and the professionalism to this establishment I would give it 10 times over. If this becomes the role model of American food experience, may be we hope to see more gastronomic choose to explore American fare. I am glad I chose to drive 5 mins to come and eat at a local breakfast place. We ordered 2 omeleetes, lemon French toast and a chorizo burrito. Normal stuff done great and with a lot of care. Taste on point. The only thing which took away from taste was the hash browns and the potatoes. Dry. Lemon French toast with mascarpone was a dream. Also everything that came out was fresh, the fruit was ripe as expected due to the local supply. The place had ample seating and was clean. There are a couple of dishes I would like to still try from their menu - the crab Benedict omelette, waffles, pies. Next time. If you are visiting Hood river I highly recommend you to go try this place. If nothing else it will help clear the dry, unappetizing opinion you might have of American food.

This place is awesome. And though it looks small from the street there is more seating in back and in the hallway. The waitress was so nice and I LOVE they bring the food out as it is ready so that everyone's is fresh. Also love I got the @1 whivh is breakfast for lunch AND I got the Gluten-free biscuits with it, there were 2 huge biscuits. And they were so yummy, a touch if cinnamon. We would totally come back.

We had a great breakfast at Bette's Place. Upon arriving, we were able to seat ourselves. Service was quick with us being offered drinks almost immediately. Once we were ready, our order was taken quickly. While we waited for food, we were offered a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was huge and large enough for our three person party to share. The menu had tons of options. It was so difficult to choose because so much of it looked good. The food was delicious, portion sizes large, and the service was good. Prices are good in relation to the amount of food you get. I would visit again!

I read about this place in a oregon visitor's guide and it mentioned their plate-size cinnamon rolls but I didn't actually look it up beforehand so I pictured big but not GIGANTIC. My mouth literally dropped when they brought it out. This is one to share and only $6. The potions for their breakfasts were also big. And everything was delicious too. Wish I could teleport these cinnamon rolls back home. Service was also friendly and fast. Casual, comfort ambiance, great for breakfast in Hood River.

Great Diner. I had a South of the Gorge burger and my Mom and girlfriend had South of the Gorge salads. Really large salads and you will need to take some home in a box. Friendly and attentive servers. Laid back environment. Note: open only for breakfast and lunch until 2 pm. Good news is they serve the full menu all day, and the menu is large. They also have amazing homemade cinnamon rolls and huge maple bars (we took two to go) Love this place.

We stopped in for breakfast today. I got the country skillet which was great. My wife had the eggs Benedict which was good. Our server Gabby was so sweet and funny that made the meal fun . The restaurant is cafe style. All in all a good meal.

Definitely stop here for a huge delicious breakfast when you are visiting Hood River. The biscuits and gravy are amazing and can easily be shared with 2-3 people. The servings are huge. The service is great.

    Yummy biscuits and gravy

Had an enjoyable breakfast here. Great staff. Very flexible with our order. Lots of food. Awesome place!! Hotel recommended this one and Egg River Cafe. No comparison! Drive to this one every time!!

I'd give Riverside Restaurant a solid 4.5 stars based on our breakfast visit…read more I ordered the chilaquiles, and they were excellent, flavorful, still pleasantly crunchy where they should be, and just a really strong version of the dish. Definitely the standout of the table for me. Service was friendly and expedient, which I always appreciate in the morning when everyone is trying to get caffeinated and out the door. My companions ordered the protein bowl, which was a hearty mix of grains and grilled vegetables with your choice of tofu or egg. It leaned a little bland flavor-wise, but it did exactly what it needed to do: provided a filling, healthy base for a full day of activity in Hood River. Not every dish was a knockout, but overall it was a very solid breakfast spot with fair pricing at about $18 per dish.

The food was OK nothing to write home about. I had lemonade for dinner it was $6.00 a glass and if you wanted another glass it was 6.00 again. They also included the tip on your bill and it was 22%. The server did not earn that high of a tip.

The atmosphere is casual and inviting but the food, both quality and presentation, steals the show. We tried a gin cocktail that was as beautiful as it was inventive. We followed this with the brussel sprouts salad which was lightly roasted but still tasted and looked green in the most delightful way, with some kind of light dressing that celebrates the vegetables in the salad medley without overpowering them. We took Calvin's recommendation and ordered the special which was a three mushroom fettuccine: it was perfection. The pasta was served al dente, the mushrooms included shitake, hedgehog, and one other and all had a unique flavor that stood out with each bite. The pasta sauce was buttery but somehow almost effervescent, embracing but not suffocating, with just enough cheese to know it's there but not enough to have it overpower the dish. At this point we didn't think the meal could get any better but then we ordered the pear, huckleberry, and pluot sorbet made at Celilo and we're now committed to coming back. The sorbet featured locally sourced Bosc pears and that flavor may have been my favorite as it was unlike any other sorbet I have ever tasted. All were sweet but complex. Simply an amazing dining experience that I recommend to anyone fortunate enough to get a table here!

We had rhubarb ice cream for dessert very tasty but again the rude bartender was only going to give us one scoop to share until he informed us that it was served in a tiny espresso cup so luckily we ordered our own. They have a nice patio area with a few (4-5) tables that are covered. We got there super early and opted to sit outside since the weather was so nice. The service was fantastic and our waitress was super friendly. We discovered that she has ties to KC so I always love that. I started with an Adeline blackberry sour. It's pretty to look at and so delicious to drink. Sours in Oregon are hands down the best. I wish we had more of it in KC but I highly recommend that you get sours and ciders if you're in the PNW. For lunch I ordered the Club Sandwich: Sweetheart ham, hickory-smoked turkey, Tillamook white cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon; topped with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo. It normally comes on sourdough but I swapped it out for ciabatta. First off, it's a HUGE club sandwich. Lots of meat that had amazing flavor. Not some sad deli sandwich at all. The ciabatta had great chew and complemented the sandwich perfectly. No complaints here! Did I eat it all? Yes, and that was a great plan because it kept me going for the next 24 hours that ended up being a cluster that resulted in no food being available. Sandwiches come with chips or a garden salad but I opted for a different side with an up charge. Let's talk about the Oregon Blue Salad: spring mix, dried cranberries, honeycrisp apples, Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue crumbles, and maple candied walnuts; tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette. So GOOD! You can get it by itself and it would make a great meal. Everything was so fresh. Again, not a single complaint. If you are ever in the area, please stop in. Everything was amazing and I can't wait until I return. Double Mountain is on my list to come back to! Highly recommend!
