It's serene and was the perfect spot for me and my husband to end a long, busy weekend in Hood River after attending my daughter's wedding the previous day. I chose the Pan Seared Sea Scallops which I wouldn't hesitate to order again. The scallops were delicate and succulent, the risotto was soft and creamy under a nice bed of sautéed spinach, and the lemon butter sauce and basil oil tied it all together beautifully. We came for dinner and it was awesome. The homemade bread was warm and delicious. We both had the Caesar salad the fresh parmigiana cheese flakes were a nice touch. I got the crab stuffed sole . It was very flavorful and the fresh squash and broccoli was cooked to perfection. My wife had the beef medallions and veggies with mushroom gravy was to die for. We stopped in after hiking around to see the wildflowers. This please was very good. We tried the spinach artichoke dip and it was excellent. We also got the ravioli, burger, fish and chips, and salmon; all were excellent. We sat outside because the weather was wonderful and it was a relaxing experience. This is the best restaurant in Hood River. We had the beet salad to start and the fabulous bread basket. The bread has rosemary in it and is so soft. I had the halibut which was firm in texture and baked to perfection. My friend has the seared ahi tuna. Also wonderful. My family ate at 3 River's Grill two days in a row!! We had the best time. The views are amazing inside and from the patio. We sat inside for dinner and outside on the patio for lunch the next day. I loved my steak, the avocado and cucumber salad shinned just as bright, if that is even possible. The table ordered the calamari. It was cooked nicely. The Burrata appetizer was a favorite as well. We liked the spinach and artichoke dip, was very nice. They have a great wine selection. I ordered the Thai salad for lunch. This was by far my favorite thing. It's just like a deconstructed spring roll, with rice noodles and peanut dressing. I will think about that salad !!! The servers and staff were very sweet and accommodating to our large party. Very poor take on "fine dining". Place is very sterile and just felt like it had no character. On to the menu and food.... They have a seasonal menu where several of the items they were out of that day. They didn't even mention this until after you order. One of the items we ordered even made it to the kitchen to only find out 15 minutes later that they were out. Do you want a salad? Ok how about a bite size salad for $15+++ but lets charge you $8 extra if you want to add 4 SHRIMP. I repeat: 4 shrimp for $8! Again, this is "fine dining" but that is not a fine dining experience in the least. Much better places in the area where the setting feels more comforting and not like a nursing home. read more

I'm compelled to write this review having just enjoyed the most relaxing and delicious lunch with my daughters and grandkids. First of all, the location; it sits high on a hill with many charming shaded patio tables. Inside is also another option with elegant dining tables with amazing views. We sat on the spacious patio in the back since it was pleasant in the shade of the large trees. The staff were warm and welcoming and our server was attentive and quick, (and a dead ringer for a young Greg Kinnear). He suggested the special which was a salad that consisted of arugula, fresh sliced nectarines and strawberries, pecans, poached shrimp, topped with burrata cheese and aged balsamic vinaigrette. Sold! Our group also ordered shrimp tacos, and Caesar salad topped with blackened salmon. Everything was delicious! They also accommodated my one year old granddaughter with some macaroni and cheese and steamed mixed vegetables! We all left completely satisfied and relaxed. 3 Rivers Grill in Hood River has been a favorite of ours for about 15 years. It's upscale without being snooty, and the food is always good. We were there in early June as an early summer downpour let up long enough for us to get to the front door. On this occasion, we started with the shrimp cocktail. It came served in a cocktail glass for a nice touch. The shrimp was perfectly done and the cocktail sauce, while being light on horseradish, had something spicy going on to give it some zing, so it did not suffer from the omission. The entrée was the day's special: strip steak with crab and shrimp. It was enough to split between two people. Everything was piled up on mashed potatoes, with the crab sprinkles generously over top. The sauce was delicious, but cold. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that way, but it didn't matter much. The steak was a perfect medium rare. Everything played well together. I feel like everytime we come to the area we always end up going to a brewpub, which isn't terrible but sometimes you want to mix it up a bit. I am thrilled to have found this place. The food, service and ambience were all wonderful.  We sat outside on their gorgeous patio that offered views of the Columbia, where you could see wind surfers out in the distance. Our server, who was from Montreal, was super kind, and enjoyable to speak with. We ordered a bottle of wine, but the wine we ordered they ended up not having so they ended up honoring the same price for a different bottle.  Ironically, there were 5 of us, but everyone either had the Chicken Sandwich or the Ravioli. Both were delicious.  I will definitely keep this place in mind for the next time we are in the area, and not in the mood for a brewpub. read more

Hubby had the excellent mushroom ravioli with grilled shrimp. It was a generous portion and very flavorful. He had a glass of pinot as well. I ordered the duck on risotto with spinach. Not what I expected. There was very little duck and it was overcooked and rubbery. The risotto was really just rice, not creamy as all. I had a cab with it, which was juicy and flavorful. We ordered the BBQ pulled pork with macaron salad: Mayo based, carrots, onions, noodles and corn- it was a solid choice. The BBQ park was super tender and not dry at all. Garnished with pickles on top. There was coleslaw- which I hate- however I tried theirs and it's actually pretty good. Mayo based. My friend ordered the chicken salad croissant. She really enjoyed it. Dessert was patio because it was such a lovely day. Perfect! We ordered Crème Brûlée & the Chocolate Gateau. I loved the Crème Brûlée. Located in Hood River, this is a date night destination for travelers. We were coming back from Mt. Hood and stopped to eat before heading home. What a dinner. We stopped in and found an elegant restaurant with a casual dress code. The food was anything but casual. The service was five-star with elegant presentation and superb taste to all of our meal. Always love this spot! The food is always delicious as is the setting of the outdoor deck, views, location when downtown, etc. The only reason it's missing a star is because of the service. The service has never been great. I've had to go up and get my own drinks, we've had to ask our server to please check our food in the kitchen because of the wait, it's just never great. Same with last night, we waited and waited, and I finally went in and there was the drink sitting at the bar and had been, so it was watered down and as well when I asked the Servier where my food was, which was a cold dish, she just said "they're really busy, the kitchen is really backed up", but she had just laid down the food for the whole table 10 minutes prior and I was the only one waiting. It was only then that she came right out with it, so obviously had also been sitting and let me tell you it was worth the wait and was one of best things I've ever eaten. I just think that Management or other staff, when they see food or drinks sitting there, give a hand because it happens too often. Even the Bartender. The bartender is never slammed there and they have plenty of time when they see a server busy to grab the drinks and take it, but Bartenders are funny like that. All in all, we know what to expect with the service when we go, and we still choose to go because the food is superb! read more

The ambiance (lovely evening to eat overlooking the river), the food and service were all very good. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the sole. To start, we shared the beet salad which may be the best we've ever had (super fresh and citrusy over a bed of spinach). Be sure to allow yourself ample time to dine as the kitchen seems a bit slow (it could have just been a busy night). We will definitely be back!
