I've been here several times, and it's become a must-stop every time I'm in Hood River. The food is always delicious, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is consistently top-notch. Everyone I've brought here has loved it just as much as I do. The steaks are outstanding, and the Mexican casserole is one of my favorite dishes. Honestly, everything I've tried has been excellent. I'm glad we ordered take out because it was dark, cramped, noisy and a bit seedy - not at all family friendly. They messed up two of our meals, apparently ignoring what we had ordered and just made them the way they felt. One "well done" burger was so rare that blood oozed out into the inside of the bun. It was simply inedible. Buns and bread were soaked in butter and grease, a literal heart attack in the making. Overall taste was bland and sloppily prepared. After a long day on the river we felt the need for a good steak! Yes they delivered. What we had Steak and prawns - Sirloin was cooked nicely and had a good flavor. Prawns which were just large shrimp were 8oz sirloin - again was cooked perfect to order Chimichurri- was tasty it was made with flat iron I would have preferred skirt or flank. The chimichurri was a little spicy thinking it might have been the fresh garlic Salmon - this was a big NEGATIVE bland and way over cooked so overcooked it was super dry and almost jerky like around the edges the thickest part was like eating peanut butter when it sticks to the roof of your mouth it was so dry. Very unfortunate and very disappointing especially since we are in a region that should know how to cook salmon!! I almost gave them a 3 star just for this dish alone it was so bad. We recently visited The Mesquitery and SHED in Hood River and had an amazing experience! Since they were quite busy, we opted to sit in the cozy bar area, which turned out to be a great choice. The music was fun and the bartenders were great and the life of the party! The dining room is on the smaller side So the bar in a booth was the perfect spot. We started with the pierogis, and they were delicious! For the main course, I had the smoked prime rib, cooked perfectly medium rare, just the way I like it. My husband ordered the special of the night: Italian Asiago stuffed gnocchi with portabella mushrooms and bacon in a garlic cream sauce. It was absolutely incredible! Every bite was bursting with flavor. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in Hood River! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere. read more

Terrific restaurant! My husband and I ordered the Red snapper Ole with three sides and split the meal. We had the clam chowder which was excellent, salad, and steamed vegetables. Dinner for 5 the other night. Summary: wonderful, worth it. "Rustic" interior, but the food is good. Menu is eclectic, with some interesting Polish selections which unfortunately we did not try. Do try their dry-aged steaks if they have them available (ask). The NY strip was absolutely huge, never seen on that big. I made the mistake of ordering a salad and did not ask for it to be served with my entree, so I had a lone steak to eat when they came out, and you really need something to take a break from gnawing on meat. My daughter enjoyed her dry aged ribeye so much that she wanted to go back the next weekend! My wife had the steak salad, and it came with a very generous portion of meat (see photo). We went because it received High ratings on YELP, and unfortunately the Yelpers reviewing were way off the mark. If you like good service this place does well, drinks were good but that's where it ended. Food really needs some work here, the steak was not what I expected from the way folks reviewed and was not very good quality, and that's where this place is lacking. Had the Prawns as an appetizer and they were right out of the fridge, also couldn't help but notice the use of the microwave for some of the items coming out of the kitchen. It was a busy place last Saturday night with a 20-minute wait in the bar. Had the ribeye with sauted mushrooms and a salad with blue cheese. Good quality meat cooked right on an open flame grill. Wanted a nice dinner on our first night in Hood River. Found the Mesquitery on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We were NOT disappointed. Their web site address is a bit pretentious, but the food was excellent. We had the Beef Cheeks (split with 3 sides). We shared the garlic bread, my wife had chowder and I had a salad. All we're very very good. The Beef Cheeks were tender, flavorful and did not need a knife to cut. They basically fell into pieces when you touched them with the fork. We traveled to Hood River today. We had a yearning for steak, and saw this place had good reviews. We got there a bit after 5, plenty of seating was available. The staff were friendly, and prompt. I ordered the 20oz Porterhouse, my wife got the 14oz Prime Rib. OMG, they were delicious!! My wife never eats a whole steak, but she ate the whole thing. They were cooked to perfection! There is a glass separation, so you can watch the cooking process. We (I) followed it with the caramel pecan cheesecake. Yummy! This place is a hidden gem! Oh, try the perogies as they are delicious. They are made off-site and they cook them right there. If you want a good steak, this place is for you. We've eaten at Mesquitery many times and I'm not sure why we've never written a review until now. We met another couple for dinner and sat in the lounge area. The bartender and server, Brenna, was fabulous! In the past we've found the music in the lounge to be heavy metal, and way too loud, to the point that we couldn't carry on a conversation and found ourselves eating way too fast and not enjoying the meal. This was completely different and made for a lovely, relaxed evening with friends, good food and wonderful drinks! A shout out to Brenna for excellent service, and to the kitchen for terrific food! We got in on a Friday might around 6:30 and got the last table! The people after us were told it would be a 25min wait. The service was pretty slow, we didn't end up getting our dinner until 7:25. The Thai Beef Salad was delicious! The meat was super tasty and the dressing was good. The filet mignon was also good and the mesquite flavor was strong. The Greek Chicken Salad was not my favorite. The mesquite mixed with the dill did not go well together at all. After waiting an hour for dinner, the service for dessert was very quick. We got 2 apple crisps which were hot and delicious. We didn't want to go out to dinner this weekend so we ORDERED IN all of our food. Since I got a new job in MilwaukEE, WI, my husband and I are meeting once a month after I fly into PDX for a long weekend. We've discovered the Hood River area (we have a home in Roseburg where I thought I would retire--haha!) and the view from our HR Villa on the gorge is somilar to our beautiful view in Roseburg of the Umqua Valley--so peaceful, all we want to do is have some R&R. Our DoorDasher for our McDonalds breakfast our first day told us about The Mesquitery (such a clever name!!) and they took PERFECT CARE OF US!! Everything was portable, delicious and storable so we ordered 2 days at a time. The Mexican cheesy dish on top of mashed potatoes, set upon a crispy tortilla, the small chicken and beef quesadillas (saved those for breakfast,) the apple crisp and ice cream, and a gorgeous black angus NY strip cooked to perfection with perfectly steamed vegetables. Oh, and don't forget the New England clam chowder--very yummy. We picked it up and when we got home it was all the correct temperature. Probably going back today for Pierogi's and more apple crisp or chocolate bomb (lava) cake. The owner was so sweet to me when I thanked her. I wanted to take her home. read more

This location is a little out of the Hood River downtown area but a great stop. The food was delicious, friendly service and prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. My wife and daughter enjoyed the food too and could even see the food being cooked on the grill through a large glass window. read more

There are many upscale restaurants in Hood River that cater to the tourist, however I was really wanting to visit a place that locals go to and this steak house is amazing. The quality of the steak I had was very excellent. They cook right in front of you and it's nice to see them do this. The seating area was fine and the restaurant has a bar that is attached to it. Bathroom looked very well maintained too. I rarely come to Hood River but I hope to visit this place again one day in the future. Only downside is parking maybe a little tricky since it's on the street and this is a very fast one way road. So if you are a regular visitor of Hood River, I do heartily recommend visiting this local establishment read more
