Ginger Paloma + hibiscus lemon drop
    Becky P.

Super friendly service, the food was very affordable, good, and filling. We got the tofu banh mi sandwich, a large salad, and fries. I loved how they did their tofu. For it being a little dive bar, it definitely exceeded expectations. There were not a ton of affordable veg options in town, so we were really happy to find this place. The drinks were some of the best I've had- my husband loved the ginger paloma and I got the hibiscus lemon drop. Went back for lunch again the next day before we headed out of town!

A pano of the entry and the bar. Great place for lunch.

We recently visited Trillium Tavern, which looks to have taken over the former Trillium Café. The ownership change seems recent, and with it came a new name and a much more limited menu. We ordered a few things to try: my wife had the Cobb salad, which she enjoyed, though she mentioned the blue cheese was a bit salty. The salad came with crispy chicken. My daughter liked the classic hotdog, and I had the chicken strip basket. The strips were good, and the shoestring fries were cooked well. Service was great--friendly and attentive. There were some board and card games available, which added a casual, relaxed vibe. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not bad, just different. We'll be interested to see how things develop as the new ownership settles in.

If you're looking for a place to stop with great drinks & eats with fantastic service- this is your place! The outdoor seating is great. We were able to have a nice little lunch with our doggo & they even allowed us to order a little doggy burger. Service really is a 10/10.

Super friendly service. Nice rustic inside ambience. The Beer cheese soup is good flavorful. Fish and chips were good with a tangy tartar sauce. My husband had the roast beef sandwich, which was good as well. Everything was hot and freshly made french fries look like they were hand cut and I really appreciated the side of mixed greens with my fish and chips with a nice tangy dressing.

Trillium Café in Hood River, Oregon is a little hole in the wall that has a cult-like following for their hamburgers. It is a local hangout that serves a small menu of bar food made up of appetizers, hamburgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and a few specials. It's also one of the few restaurants in Hood River that is open late at night, which is how I came to visit it. I arrived in Hood River late at night, and was looking for a bite to eat before I went to my hotel. I had walked by Trillium Café many times over the years, but never visited because the menu looked like a lot of other restaurant menus, and I'm always on the lookout for something new. Even though I arrived shortly before the kitchen closed, I was greeted warmly and provided excellent service. My go-to when ordering a burger, is a classic Cheeseburger. I ordered The Standard - 1/2 pounder with lettuce, tomato, pickles, served on grilled bun, and added a slice of cheese. All burgers are made with Cascade Natural 100% Angus Beef. Burgers are served with your choice of hand cut fries, tater tots, or garden salad. I got the hand cut fries. Wowza! Trillium Café makes an EXCELLENT Cheeseburger with Fries! First, I love that they know the importance of grilling/toasting the bun. The hamburger meat was fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Tillamook cheddar cheese was nicely melted on top of my burger. The lettuce, tomato, and pickles were served off to the side so I could dress my burger as I liked. The fresh cut fries were excellent! It was one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had in or anywhere near Hood River. I've heard excellent things about their Fish & Chips, which is one of their three specialties, along with Meatloaf and Mac & Cheese. If you're looking for a casual dining option, with a small but excellent menu, check out Trillium Café the next time you're in Hood River. Highly Recommended!!!

We stopped just for a snack, but it turned into us having lunch. It's been fun letting bartenders make our drinks based on what we like when we know there is a full bar. The Mac and Cheese was listed as a Specialty on the menu, so I was ready to be impressed. Let me tell you. OMG. This was freaking amazing. It wasn't full of extras, just the best ingredients. As much as I wanted to just sit and shovel it in my mouth, I made myself eat it very slow so I could enjoy and remember it forever. My lunch companion's meals were described as good and tasty. The fresh cut fries were really, really good. Establishment was clean, the service was friendly and prompt.

A quirky local spot for drinks and tasty bar food. It has a full bar and an nice selection of goodies to eat if you're hungry. We stopped in for lunch. The ingredients were fresh, plentiful and toasty. We shared a delicious turkey meister sandwich and tater tots. Our server was friendly and attentive to our soft drinks stayed full! The locals at the bar added to the atmosphere. They have a cool mural that reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are...for a quick afternoon lunch we thought it was great!

Definitely the standout of the table for me. Service was friendly and expedient, which I always appreciate in the morning when everyone is trying to get caffeinated and out the door. My companions ordered the protein bowl, which was a hearty mix of grains and grilled vegetables with your choice of tofu or egg. It leaned a little bland flavor-wise, but it did exactly what it needed to do: provided a filling, healthy base for a full day of activity in Hood River. Not every dish was a knockout, but overall it was a very solid breakfast spot with fair pricing at about $18 per dish.

The server did not earn that high of a tip.

The atmosphere is casual and inviting but the food, both quality and presentation, steals the show. We tried a gin cocktail that was as beautiful as it was inventive. We followed this with the brussel sprouts salad which was lightly roasted but still tasted and looked green in the most delightful way, with some kind of light dressing that celebrates the vegetables in the salad medley without overpowering them. We took Calvin's recommendation and ordered the special which was a three mushroom fettuccine: it was perfection. The pasta was served al dente, the mushrooms included shitake, hedgehog, and one other and all had a unique flavor that stood out with each bite. The pasta sauce was buttery but somehow almost effervescent, embracing but not suffocating, with just enough cheese to know it's there but not enough to have it overpower the dish. At this point we didn't think the meal could get any better but then we ordered the pear, huckleberry, and pluot sorbet made at Celilo and we're now committed to coming back. The sorbet featured locally sourced Bosc pears and that flavor may have been my favorite as it was unlike any other sorbet I have ever tasted. All were sweet but complex. Simply an amazing dining experience that I recommend to anyone fortunate enough to get a table here!

They have a nice patio area with a few (4-5) tables that are covered. We got there super early and opted to sit outside since the weather was so nice. The service was fantastic and our waitress was super friendly. We discovered that she has ties to KC so I always love that. I started with an Adeline blackberry sour. It's pretty to look at and so delicious to drink. Sours in Oregon are hands down the best. I wish we had more of it in KC but I highly recommend that you get sours and ciders if you're in the PNW. For lunch I ordered the Club Sandwich: Sweetheart ham, hickory-smoked turkey, Tillamook white cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon; topped with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo. It normally comes on sourdough but I swapped it out for ciabatta. First off, it's a HUGE club sandwich. Lots of meat that had amazing flavor. Not some sad deli sandwich at all. The ciabatta had great chew and complemented the sandwich perfectly. No complaints here! Did I eat it all? Yes, and that was a great plan because it kept me going for the next 24 hours that ended up being a cluster that resulted in no food being available. Sandwiches come with chips or a garden salad but I opted for a different side with an up charge. Let's talk about the Oregon Blue Salad: spring mix, dried cranberries, honeycrisp apples, Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue crumbles, and maple candied walnuts; tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette. So GOOD! You can get it by itself and it would make a great meal. Everything was so fresh. Again, not a single complaint. If you are ever in the area, please stop in. Everything was amazing and I can't wait until I return. Double Mountain is on my list to come back to! Highly recommend!
