I've been here at least a half dozen times. Very underwhelming. The atmosphere is odd...kinda dark, but in a bad way. The cocktails are okay...I could make better at home for a third the price. The staff seems to have a lot of turnover. And lastly, the menu item I loved most when they first opened, a shrimp po'boy, was delicious, but now sadly long gone. We have been going to Tilly Jane's regularly since Laurel took over the restaurant a few years ago. They continue to improve and upgrade their business, which I applaud tremendously. They recently hired an executive chef that is really upping their game... improving some of the 'already good' food items on the existing menu, but adding some specials from time to time as well. Last week we went in for lunch and had a FABULOUS Beef Dip.... it was definitely shareable ... and SO GOOD! So Monday Night has become Prime Rib Monday. OMG! Maybe it's because we haven't had a 'good' prime rib in many years, (don't get me wrong, we love the food at the Mesquitery, but their prime rib just doesn't cut it for us), but what we were served tonight was FABULOUS! A nice thick piece (probably 1") of perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned prime rib! Served with mashed potatoes and broccolini. We did have to ask for some real horseradish (we always do), but what they gave us was pretty good, so I just 'topped it off' with just a little more of the real stuff. I also wanted to add that they do a fabulous breakfast! Don is their breakfast chef, and he LOVES doing breakfast. I have never been disappointed with the over medium eggs he makes (and I always know when he's not there! lol). And with the new executive chef, their hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict just makes Don's eggs benedict one of the best my husband has ever had. So even though it's technically a sports bar, the food they serve is really tasty and the servers are pretty awesome too. So give it a try! You might be pleasantly surprised (and is DEFINITELY better than the original Tilly Jane's when they first opened under a different owner... Come back and try them again... I'm confident you will not be disappointed. read more

But i recently came in to get my final check, i would have stoped in sooner but life has been crazy. I spoke to the manager Danny about picking up my check, and he refused to pay me. Told me that they can't pay me due to me not clocking in and out, and he claimed that i had a punch in number since day one. Which is not true, id persisted multiple times since starting and they claimed they were working on it. For context i'd only worked there for about two weeks. And in that time they hadn't given me anything to punch in, but told me my hours were being documented. Danny told me due to this that i was not getting payed, which is illegal and unethical, i legally earned the money that i made during working there and he just out right refused. I respectfully told him that if i were not payed the hours that i worked, that id be turning them into BOLI, which im in the proccess of doing. The moment i brought this up, Danny became Hostile and aggressive and he proceeds to tresspass me from the property. My time working there was okay and no issues had occured. But Tilly Janes managment refusing to pay me money that i legally earned is not okay. And i want this to be brought to public attention. I was completly disrespected and legal action will be taken to make sure i have my legally earned money. I just want people to know what kind of people run this place. For me I'm not a huge fan of the sitting,not really comfy for people with a big booty and it's kind of more bar themed than family friendly. You may be waiting quite a while for your food depending on when you come but I've never had a unkind server or my order messed up, and the food is heavenly definitely do recommend the onion rings they're so crunchy and thick. read more

What a turn around...From Shari's restaurant and Cafe to a new idea in town (tilly janes) to now new ownership and management of the newer restaurant Tillys, this place has come a long way!! Excellent food, excellent drinks, and friendly staff make this a place you want to go hang out at. Was in town running errands and stopped in for a shrimp po boy to go. Man, the delicateness and mouth punching flavor of the shrimp with the crunchy batter makes this dish mouthwatering for your next bite. The delicious fresh and calm contrast of tomato and lettuce work wonderfully with each bite of flavorful shrimp. This was so satisfying, felt indulgent and like a light eat at the same time. With so much excitement over the new ownership and her amazing creations, I greatly look forward to patroning here a lot more! read more

My dad and I went to this bar to have a good time and bought the bar drinks, brought good business. The servers said we "ordered too many drinks in the last hour." We were stunned and confused as we were very coherent. We understand that there are laws limiting the amount of drinks you can buy in an hour, but we were buying for others that we were socializing with, and for ourselves we only had 2 beers per hour. Brought money to the bar and by no means does that mean we own the place, but what the hell are we doing at a bar when we bring strangers like that together? Ugly scene crafted by Tilly's staff. Wish ownership was there to see the business they lost. From the very moment we entered the bar the servers treated us as if we were an inconvenience when we requested a game on a tv, foot order or drink. We assume that your staff wanted to get off work early due to it being New Years, but note to Tilly's management... have half shifts for the Holidays cause having a staff not wanting to work sucks and makes us not want to return. You guys ever wonder where your patrons went after Sunday NFL ticket went from Direct TV to YouTube TV, it's not just that tv deal with YouTube and the NFL, it's your lousy service as well. So this is the third visit. The first two over a year ago were just awful but under the new ownership and management a complete reset is obvious. The staff were prompt and friendly, the food came out quickly and was exactly as ordered. The food tasted great. They finally got rid of those awful fries. Overall a great experience. Probably like a lot of locals, I was put off by the bad buzz around Tilly Jane's when it was owned & managed by the PREVIOUS owner. But after reading newer reviews, and seeing that the new owner/chef had actually RESPONDED to past concerns with an apology, we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. Although they're plagued with labor shortages like everyone, we were promptly greeted and seated, with a hazy IPA brought out for my spouse immediately. They're blocking off every other table right now (OR is still on a version of a lockdown). The interior isn't much to look at - the restaurant used to be part of the local chain Shari's - but everything was clean, and there was a nice mix of booths, high tops, and I think some bar seating. It's a sports bar, so a few TVs are tuned to different sports stuff. The menu offers enough options that most people will find something they really want to order, and the food is prepared right in the kitchen (i.e. limited reliance on prepackaged stuff from Sysco). No specials but there are enough choices that you can try plenty of new things on later visits. I chose the pulled pork sandwich, topped with coleslaw. The meat had some chew to it, and the sauce had a mild kick to it (I prefer mine spicier, but it's easier to spice it up than tone it down for those who go for mild). The side salad I chose to go with it was abundant and filled with fresh greens and other veggies. Decent bleu cheese in one of those little plastic cups (not a fan of those, but ok...). Spouse went with fried fish and onion rings. The onion rings were good - could have been a bit crisper, but tasted house-made. Fish was crispy and not oily. I'm looking forward to trying their Po'Boy, when it comes. I think there's a kid's menu too, and the prices are reasonable enough that you can bring them. Our meal for 2, with 2 IPA's, came to $44 before tip. The waitress came over to check on us plenty of times, menus are done via QR code, and parking is abundant and easy given that they share a big lot with Rosauer's supermarket. Easy access in and out. There isn't a view of the river, but there also weren't the prices that come with that real estate. I'd say it's a very solid new local place where locals (and visitors, too) can enjoy a good meal, now and in the winter when the tourists have gone away. We'll be back to try a few other items. PS: Owner was on hand, serving drinks, and keeping things running well. Kudos to her for taking on a place with the rep that this one had, during a pandemic. Unfortunately, disappointing place for a sports bar. Very limited seating. Appetizers were horrible at best. From freezer to microwave is the best way to describe. Had great reviews, so we went out of our way to go there to watch a game and the bartender wouldn't even turn up the volume so we could hear it. On a positive note, our drinks were good. Used to be a Shari's restaurant, so not much room for a sports bar. Again, I'm not one to leave negative comments, but this one was unfortunately warranted. read more

My husband and i decided to try tillys out for breakfast because our usual restaurant was to busy. I was really happy to see eggs Benedict on the menu and had to try them, unfortunately the hollandaise was sour tasting. My husband ended up eating it because he didn't want me to say anything, my husband got the chicken fried steak and enjoyed it. The service was awesome, the restaurant was very clean and was not crowded. We will be back I may just try something else next time. read more

Perfect breakfast in a sports bar, absolutely! Never been happier that there was no parking at my usual breakfast place. I've been to Tilly Janes for burgers, fries, and brews. with a great meal, drinks, and service every time. A lot of TVs with different sports playing. Clean, spacious, nice atmosphere. I vaguely remembered that they served breakfast, checked their website to confirm, and headed to the Heights. The breakfast menu is limited; you can check it out on their website. Everything I ordered was perfect. Started with a house made Bloody Mary, delicious, (replaced it with no fuss when I knocked it over by accident). My breakfast looked like it was ready for a photo shoot. Everything was hot, hash browns crispy, eggs a perfect over medium, three of the best sausage links I have ever had, (need to find out where they get them, and sourdough bread toasted a perfect brown with a cute little ball of butter on the side to add or not add. Great coffee too. Hood River has a number of great breakfast places, but Tilly Janes is my new go to. Compare this to the breakfast at an upscale hotel in the Lake Union area of Seattle last week. Everything was stone cold, with over medium eggs over hard with broken yolks, limp toast, limp barely cooked bacon, and a "fresh fruit" salad of overripe green grapes, that weren't green anymore, and canned peaches. Exploring the area for the 1st time period we came across Tilly isn't a shopping plaza. We were hoping to get clam chowder and's up warm meal. Clam chiro is amazing along with my delicious coffee. Other food on the menu were not so great. Decently priced for what you're getting. I do really like the Matt black dishes is. Coffee presentations was great. We are hoping the rest of our meal would be the same. I would go back again just for the coffee but maybe not for the food. They do have an adult area for Oregon lottery. So I have waited for a long time to write a review of Tilly Jane's...... that being said, today was our fourth experience here. It was a Sunday at 4, not busy. The first time it was just my husband and I and we went and got three appetizers and a couple beers. The service was nice but we had to ask for things like utensils and napkins. I did not hold that against them because I knew that they were fairly new still at the time. The appetizers were all right but everything available is frozen and then fried. The next two times we went it was a very similar experience and food we received was cold. This last time I saw on Facebook that they had a new menu, so we thought we would give it one more try. It was my husband, I, and two kids, open minded about having a great dinner. This time we ordered the ribs special, a burger, sliders, wings, and a Cubano. The food took 50, yes 50, minutes to arrive (they were not busy). We were excited about our meal but sadly disappointed in all the food, for example the ribs did not come with any sauce/ food was cold. The waiter did not check back during our meal and surely could have used ketchup etc. 2nd star was for the waiter being friendly (he was forgetful but nice) and my husband liked the wings. Wow! We were coming down from playing in the snow and looking for a place agreeable to all 7 of us, including a salad diet and gluten free needs. So after checking Yelp for some menus we decided to roll the dice on Tilly Jane's. What a good choice! We found excellent bar-style food in a comfortable setting and amazing, friendly service. The wings were good, both bone-in and boneless. There Jamaican jerk was amazing and that jalapeno buffalo was too! The beef burger was top notch and my son's beyond burger easily kept pace. Perfect sweet potato fries - not too dark and not too soggy. And we were all impressed when our server stood on top of a stool to get a great family photo for us. EAT HERE! Recently visited Tilly Jane's under new management and I have to say, it's quickly become one of my favorite sports bars to visit in Hood River. To start with, service. Service is a HUGE part of any dining experience and this place has some amazing staff. I'll start off by saying that I called ahead of time to check the times on dinner, happy hour, ect... I then asked if a particular ball game was on and if they had fresh squeezed Arnold Palmers. All of my questions where answered enthusiastically and I told the person over the phone that I'd be there in 10 minutes. Once I arrived with my lady and announced my presence to the kind server up front, she had us seated immediately and had even brought over an ice cold freshly squeezed Arnold Palmer! Wow! Talk about being on top of your game! We then sat down and as I'm taking a sip out of this fantastic drink, I look up and the game I had inquired about, (which was not a in a primetime spot by the way, she actually had to find it), was playing right by our table! An amazing way to start and set the tone for the evening when it comes to dining! I came to find out that our server was Kayla and she was fantastic. We had questions about the menu and she knew all of the answers and gave us her recommendations. My lady got the crispy chicken sandwich and I had the BBQ burger. Both these entrees where perfectly cooked and HUGE! We had sides of regular fries and onion rings. I gotta say, the chicken sandwich my lady got was GIANTIC! There was even a really good garlic aioli sauce on it that just brought it up one more level as well! She even attest that it was probably the second best chicken sandwich she's ever hand and that is a top honor coming from her! We definitely had our fill because we ended up taking half of each of our meals home with us. For me, anytime I can leave an establishment full or with a little extra, it's a good time! We also had some wings and mozzarella sticks as appetizers beforehand as well that were solid. I will say however, the wings had a different texture then what I'm used to and I inquired about this to Kayla and she informed me that they are double fried or have a different way of cooking them but regardless, were very tasty and had every sauce you could think of on standby. The buffalo sauce was just the right temperature both in taste and smell, (if that makes sense? Buffalo sauce can sometimes be too vinegary or not have that distinct smell to it but Tilly Jane's has theirs locked in right!) Our price for our dining experience this evening was very reasonable. Around the neighborhood of $40 bucks for two full entrees, appetizers and two refillable drinks. We had quick and attentive service all night, I was able to watch the game I was looking for and we even left with a little extra food for later. Overall, I highly recommend coming to Tilly Jane's and sharing the experience for yourself. Although Kayla was our main server, the other server that was working with Kayla was very kind as well and welcomed us while we where in the restaurant.
