We live here and have been so many times. All depends on who the bartender is. For the past several times it's been "Aurora", the gal. TERRIBLE. She is so unfriendly and acts like she hates her job and hates people that none of us know why she is there. When we even ask people to meet us there,it's..."no way, the bartender is a B_tch". Tonight was worse than ever. It started out with a new bartender and she was wonderful and then the bartender got off and Aurora took over and it was hell. Ruined our entire meal. Treats you like complete dog poop. Why why why does the owner have her here?! Nobody in town likes her, she's mean and makes you feel like you need to leave. The Shed used to be the great place to go, but because of Rory, no longer, we all go elsewhere. Unbelievable. read more

I hate to write this and be this person BUT my significant other and I have come to the Shed many times and we usually love it. Unfortunately, it seemed everything was not being run right this time. The service started off slow and forgetful and then we noticed the lady sitting in front of our booth, at the bar, had a skunk in her lap. At first, we didn't give a d**n and then we noticed another man at the bar was uncomfortable and ended up ordering his food to-go cause the skunk was raising its tail at him. I wish this was a joke, it sure felt like one. We had just gotten our food and started eating, the skunk climbed up onto the women's back closer to our table, raised its tail and started Shi*inf and pissing all over her and the floor. It smelt foul and looked even worse. The owner took the skunk out of the bar and her coat that was covered in it, but did not clean it up until we had said something. I had maybe eaten two bites of my food and lost my appetite. We asked for boxes and I pulled the server aside telling her about the situation and that we thought it was inappropriate for a bar/restaurant to allow this. She had said the OWNER of the Shad asked for them to come in with the skunk and that it is a service animal. Service animals don't relieve themselves when they shouldn't and I know this from training service animals. My significant other and I are super bummed that this happened and was handled so poorly. We loved coming here and have never had a bad experience until we had the worst. read more

Excellent food, a great ambiance and service was stellar. Nice quaint place in old town absolutely worth the drive. Very hip bar and lounge. Halibut and ribeye were prepared perfect. Side dishes weren't the best but complimented meal. Salad could be better. We will return for sure. The house Sauvignon was outstanding with excellent IPA as well. read more

This place is outstanding. An absolute diamond in the rough. The Shed has a quaint dive bar feel, but the service was great. The $11.50 generous pours of Blanton's was a welcome surprise. The Mesquitery is attach/affiliated. I had the garlic butter mesquite salmon and I don't hesitate to say it was the best salmon I've ever had. If you're looking for for great food and drink at a reasonable price in Hood River, this is the place. read more

Was there. Sat mid bar. Nobody really near me. Got my beer. Since then I was invisible. The guys at the end of the bar got cocktail napkins and attention. Not me. I didn't get offered a food/drink menu at all. Wasn't acknowledged the entire time even with bartenders right in front of me. The male bartender insulted the female bartender's intelligence. In a humorous way but still not ok. I only got staff attention when my beer was done. At that point I'm like "no way". I was alone and they didn't attempt to make me feel comfortable at all. read more

Visiting Hood River for the first time and would definitely return to The Shed. The service was amazing and they were crazy busy with holiday parties. We were headed to the Mesquitery and popped over to The Shed to wait for our table. However, the team at The Shed were so welcoming, we stayed. At the recommendation of a Belgian native, we tried The Shed's pork schnitzel. Both of us have had it in Germany. I have eaten pork schnitzel in the east, midwest and SoCal. I have to say this is the best I have eaten in USA. Ozzy, Beau and Angela gave us great service. The schnitzel was lightly breaded, properly seasoned, extremely tender and very flavorful. The portions were substantial. The mushroom gravy was loaded with mushrooms and very light. Needless to say, we were very pleased with our dining experience. read more

Nope. Quite possibly the worst vodka tonic ever concocted, was on my visit to this ridiculous bar last night. It was so strong that is wasn't drinkable. If I had wanted (cheap, bitter) vodka on the rocks, that's what I would have ordered. I took three drinks, sat it on the bar, and walked out. I didn't catch sight of what vodka was used, but it was obviously cheapest of the cheap. And yeah, I could have asked for a vodka upgrade when ordering, but that's doesn't change the fact that the drink was total shit. Good vodka or no good vodka, that drink was poorly made. There was metal music blaring through the bar and some super creepy dudes staring us down the entire time we were there (which was about 10 minutes total). And listen, I don't want to make accusations, but there is a fair chance the bartender was on drugs. He was kind of out of his mind. Maybe that's just his personality, either way it was weird and he makes horrible drinks. I'm giving two stars because there is obviously something about this place that people like. Not sure who those people are, but it was pretty packed in there. This place is definitely not my scene and that's fine, but it's hard to overlook the horrible drinks. A very nice, very real local with great food from the restaurant next door. A good crowd across the age spectrum with a few sports TV's; definitely a place to learn about Hood River from the people who are living it.
