I have been wanting to go to Volcanic Bottle Shop for a while and my visit when it finally happened was a pleasant one! Steve and I hit their refrigerated section and bought a fair amount of beer from local breweries in the area back home in four packs and six packs. I got a pretty cool hoodie while in the process after promptly going through the refrigerated beer selection. The beers we picked we really liked! As we were checking out we spotted on their tap list a beer from a local brewery we haven't tried before so we got a small pour of that and it was quite good. I'd give this 5 stars if I weren't so parsimonious because they have a great selection of GF beers from all over the world and it's the only bar in town with a foosball table. However, it does cost about $50 to get a buzz if ur liver laughs at a 6 pack. The new management is a big improvement over the former rather acerbic one. read more

FAV low key bar in town. If it's busy they'll stay open a little extra so it's nice not to be rushed out. The bar tenders are always the chillest with great info. Like their patio that's off the street when it's warm enough. Love I can bring my well behaved doggo. read more

WOW! What a gem of a place in Hood River! Very chill and so cool. We were hoping to find a sweet spot to sit and enjoy a beer and we found it here. The owners are friendly and helpful. The Artisan Meat and Cheese Plate was awesome with our chosen brews. I had the Hop Valley Citrus Mistress and the BF had the Firestone Walker Wookey Jack DDBA blend. read more

And The Heights of Hood River is not known for being super cool..But come on in.. comfy seating and a huge selection of beer and cider is waiting.Super friendly staff and reasonable prices make this a great place to catch up with friends. Omg this is my fav bar in hood river. Best beers on tap, always changing. They allow dogs and have an awesome atmosphere, frequently playing my favorite band Phish. You can purchase any canned beer in their fridge too before buying the entire 6 pack. Not really a place for food but that's not why I go there. Their selection is on point and they have something for everyone. I don't know why, but their beer tastes better than any other bar. Is it the clean glasses that the bartender hand washes or the clean keg lines? The ambiance could use some tending to, but otherwise, the place is great for true beer lovers. read more

Small place on 12th, but definitely a good stop. Good selection of beer and the dude behind the bar definitely helped us out and even let us try out a couple samples. This is a great little bottle shop for the gorge. It has a nice selection of regional and imported beers to go, and also serves a great selection of rotating taps. I heard about this place from the locals, and it's kind of word of mouth place because we don't want tourists getting in (sometimes it's nice getting away from the surfers). If you're in the Hood River area, this is a MUST visit place if you have any feelings towards beer. Super Chill spot, great selection, and at least when I was there, the bartender was a fantastic guide to local beers. Small place in uptown Hood River. Checked it out the other day to bring a bottle back to Portland. Pretty good selection of really well selected beers. Price seemed about on par with the Portland bottle shops (Belmont and John's). They had a nice laid back area to hang and enjoy some beers that they had on tap as well. Super chill and nicest vibe on the heights, variety of nice global choices in brew as well as interesting local art and best of all dog friendly and i can skate there from home. great place to meet up for a coldie after a long ride or full day on the river. When I first walked in I thought we were in the wrong place. It was clean, open, had a huge patio, and was, well, really nice. Most bottle shoppes are not. They have a big rotating selection and are knowledgeable about what they carry, which is very helpful. They often have live music, and they highlight local artists artwork too. Nice people, good service, and they let you bring in outside food. So order dinner to go and have it at Volcanic! read more
