I get that this is a bar but if there going to serve food it should be eatable. We ordered pretzels & beer cheese dip. Pretty easy one would think. The pretzels were dry frozen microwaved and the cheese dip was as thin as water with no taste. It was horrible. Above that the drinks, I order a cosmo and my husband a gin martini. Coming from Vegas if you served these pours you'd be shot. I have never had such a tiny $15 cocktail. Definitely will not be back. read more

Shame. I was with a media trip reviewing Hood River the evening I visited Whiskey Tango and they did this to me... I ordered E.H. Taylor Warehouse C, neat. I was initially ecstatic that it was $16 per pour, as I told them how overpriced and obtainable it was for me everywhere else. Mid-drink, the bar tender called the owner and shared the value of the bottle on the secondary market was higher than the value per pour they were charging. The owner then instructed the bartender to pull the bottle from the shelf and no longer sell pours. (Also, $100+ per Russels Reserve 13 year pour?Disaster pricing.) To pull a bottle mid-drink when I was SO excited to enjoy the night with it just shocked me. I'm the one who told YOU how excited I was to find the drink at an affordable rate. And it felt as if you punished me for it. Now, I get to live feeling like I've ruining things for other bourbon enthusiasts who would have wanted to try the EHTWC21. Worst service I'd ever experienced. Our wedding party booked out an entire floor. Upon arrival, we saw strangers still roaming around with access to the space we'd reserved. When we checked in, got told they don't see our reservation at all? I had already dropped $600 to have that floor for the night. The bartender was extremely dismissive of us and said he couldn't guarantee a refund when we pressed bout the refund on the space we weren't even allowed to use. Witnessed the same bartender treating other (white) patrons with a completely different demeanor and respect. Just an interesting observation a white friend of ours confirmed with us after approaching the bartender himself to inquire about our refund. It wasn't until our friend brought it to him that he came over to apologize about how he'd treated us and offered us w couple drinks on the house. You'd think that this was just their way of remedying the poor initial interaction. No. They'd expected that to square the entire thing off. $600 gone, non-refundable even though we were denied access to the space because they couldn't find our reservation? Please make this sh*t make sense. Utterly disappointed and will never be taking our loved ones here for any occasion. WT, big fumble. read more

So we stumbled into whiskey tango on a tender Friday afternoon (sober we just clumsy tho) and were greeted by our perfect boy bartender. We had to pee. We peed. Then we took a seat and were pleasantly greeted by two useless glasses of h20. Wow. We love to see a good room temperature moment. We ask our toothless wonder boy his favorites (French dip & fried chicken sandwich) and immediately ordered them. He explained that he lost the teeth in a wrestling match- wow we love him (you should see the other guy) he was perfect. The French dip was a BEEF SWIM and the yicken sandwich was a visceral experience. I was in town for a wedding and stopped in for a drink and a bite to eat. I ordered a beer and a beef sandwich at the bar. Directly after ordering, I was asked to open a tab, I asked to pay cash at the end and was told no. Please keep in mind there were only 3 other people inside at this time so its not as if it were a busy Friday night. I have a long standing rule that I do not "open a tab" at a bar because I have had bartenders take liberty tips too often and there was actually a review that stated as such from this restaurant. Basically, I was forced to pay for my drink and food right then before I was even able to get my beer! I highly suggest management have some bend with this rule. I paid for my meal and drink as I was told to do, but the bartenders tip suffered from the normal % because It feels forced. The beef sandwich was pretty dry. Not very appealing. The flavor was on point, but the meat was pretty tough. The fry's were good. The beer was a bit on the warmer side and If I was coming into town and needed a place to eat, this is not the spot that I was choose in the future. read more

Stopped in for a drink on a sunny Saturday around 5pm. When we arrived, another couple was seated at the bar but the place was otherwise empty. We ordered at the bar and the server seemed put out by our order. When we received our drinks, I was served the worst aperol spritz I've ever had. Clean flavors though and decent portion sizes, even for the shareables. The chef was accommodating enough to make the meal low-carb for my friend. We show them the receipt and they try to gaslight us saying "you must have cancelled." When we asked for a refund from this because clearly they are not doing anything for us, the bartender is rude and resistant to provide any assistance. Even asking for the owner, the bartender is resistant to provide contact info until pressed to do so. As soon as the two of us (we're Asian) are done talking to the unhelpful bartender, our white male friend steps in and is immediately treated with respect and is offered a refund. However the following day, we receive an email saying they won't refund us despite them not expecting us and providing absolutely zero service. They stole $600. Avoid at all costs. read more

I'm 30 years old, got asked for ID even though I didn't order any drink. That's fine cause I understand they have to ask for it if you wanna hang out at a bar. Showed my National ID (I'm from Europe) and had my International drivers license with me, but the bartender said she can't accept foreign IDs. Excuse me? I was just in town for a wedding and it was my first time at Whiskey Tango. I didn't get the bartenders name but he provided excellent service. The entire wedding party arrived to the bar at 10:30pm on a Sunday night and the bar was set to close at 11. Instead of turning us away and closing, the bartender, who was working alone by the way, stayed open and happily served us till almost 1 in the morning. Not only were the drinks great but he went above and beyond and cranked the music and reset the back room to more of a party vibe by turning off the lights and getting the disco ball going! The Primavarius Pinot Noir was, however, a nice fruity/ jammy Pinot noir, which tells me already that it's a Pinot for "non-pinot noir" drinkers... If you want a "drink now" Pinot noir (not wait 3- 8 years to be worth drinking) this is a fantastic wine. Clean bathrooms, plenty of street parking, cloth napkins, nice music mix without being too loud or obnoxious, friendly patrons.seems like a neighborhood hangout. I have been to this establishment numerous times and not once have I ever had a kind, friendly or helpful bar tender. They also over serve and allowed a member of their community to die.To be an establishment in downtown Hood River, essentially representing the community to those that visit, it breaks my heart that Whiskey Tango is here and lacks any sweet, friendly or warm demeanor associated with Oregon. Once I asked for a taste of a beer, normal bar request, the bar tender, verbatim said to me "Sorry sweety we don't do that here." Didn't offer me a solution but only gave me intense sass and even called me sweety which can really offend someone. When I called him out for how uncomfortable and rude he was, he shrugged his shoulders in an "eh" fashion and didn't say another word to me. The most important thing of all is that this bar over serves and does not care about how intoxicated their patrons are. They will do nothing. A friend of mine was passed out on the counter... no one took his keys, asked him how he would get home or any of the normal bartender duties when someone is clearly too drunk. So he got in his car, drove and died that very night. Ultimately what happened is not directly Whiskey Tango's fault but they actively allowed it to happen when they had a clear indicator that they should intervene, they did not. This is not a place I want to give my money to, regardless of your drink capabilities the service is nothing but rude, cold and uncaring. If you love Hood River please try any other local spot but this one. read more

I've been to Whiskey Tango numerous times and always enjoy their happy hour. I always bring friends visiting from out of town here. Yesterday tall bartender with a beard was a complete, unnecessary dick! I went with a friend while our teenage daughters shopped around town. Daughters stopped by to update us on their whereabouts. They put one foot inside and we told them they need to be outside (we were at the table at the door)....they stepped out. One teenager had her foot on the door jam and the bartender yelled from across the bar, she stepped out and they left after 5 seconds. Bartender came over and told us we had to pay up and leave (hadn't even finished our 1 drink) at 5:30pm. A simple "hey, not to be a jerk but the liquor laws are very strict around here" would have warranted an apology from us and a tip. I have regard for the rules and certainly wouldn't want to jeopardize any business or employee's job. Just a few people in there at the time. I also had a dog tied up outside, who crept to the rug inside the door (yes, my bad but would have moved him the 6 inches outside if asked or implied). He suggested we go to River City. OK ahole, I live here and know where River City is (worked there in the 80's) there is no patio for dogs. Brought this up with friends and they knew exactly who I was talking about, they had similar stories of him being an unfriendly, surly jerk. 2 stars because I like their food and drinks but not going in again if that unwelcoming ahole is working there.
