If we could give half stars this would be a 3.5/5. The appetizers we got compliments of the chef were delicious. If I could order that off the menu I definitely would. The peking duck was good, but came out lukewarm and we definitely would have preferred it warmer. The mapo tofu had a decent amount of Szechuan spice, but the tofu lacked flavor and was more so just a vessel for the spice. The black pepper beef tenderloin was very tender, but for the portion we received I don't think it was worth the $49. The wok tossed peashoots were delicious and looked very appetizing as they were a very vibrant green. All in all, an okay meal that was not quite worth the price point. If you feel like waiting hours at a table for a drink then RED 8 should be your go to place for service. My friends and I had a reservation on a sat night - but that didn't matter we had to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated. Once seated, an assortment of waiters stopped by our table until we seemed to finally have one. We ordered drinks which seemed to overwhelm the kind but inexperienced waitress. When we had questions on the menu she sort of freaked out and said she needed to get someone.. Then she came back and we ordered apps. 42 mins later ( yes at this point we began timing) still no drinks but the apps and entrees begin arriving. When my friend politely asked about our drinks she was told " we're busy, you'll get them when you get them! That quote sums up the night perfectly. Basically there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their staff, ordering, etc. they just help you when they help you. No one is going to ask if if you'd like a refill on your drink , except water. They have two waitresses running around with water refills every two seconds. As we were there to celebrate a birthday we had asked for a dessert at the end. We had to remind them about it and then they finally brought out a fortune cookie with breyers ice cream on it. Overall food tasted fine but the random times of items arriving with lousy service actually made us laugh. Save your money from Red 8 and put it towards the slots at encore instead. read more

I came here several months ago before all the craziness with my wife's family. Her parents are avid gamblers haha We've already tried the buffet so we ended up here to give it a try since we were in the mood for Chinese. The decor was really nice. Not your typical Chinese restaurant atmosphere and the staff were all nice including our waiter. The menu is more expensive than your average Chinese restaurant but that's to be expected since it's the same in all casinos. At least they didn't skimp on the portions which were all pretty big in my opinion. We ordered all the ones I saw recommended on the other yelp reviews such as the abalone with mushrooms, crispy pork belly, Peking duck and crispy shrimp etc and they were all good as recommended. We also got some of the dimsum to try and they were good too. We didn't get any drinks though. Just water so can't speak on their drink menu. The manager did stop by once to ask how we were doing which was nice. Came here to eat with my family when I visited Boston. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. I've been to local casinos back at home and their Chinese restaurants really do not compare to what encore offers. Clean and well-trained staff serving delicious food. I really enjoyed the lobster springs rolls and salty fish fried rice. We had a lot of other authentic dishes the chef cooked for us. We ate at a few other Chinese restaurants in the city and while prices are higher here, I'd prefer eating here for nicer meals with the family. read more

I've ate here a couple of time and just realize I've never written a reviews. While sitting here in quarantine, my bf and I really wishes we could of celebrate our anniversary at Red 8. It is expensive, however the food and service were stellar. The beer was ice cold and served in a chilled glass. Not a huge deal but something I appreciated. The cocktails the girls ordered were very flavorful and complex. Every dim sum dish was perfect and the entrees were fantastic. I did get sticker shock at first, however after the apps were great the anxiety subsided and I ordered more with less hesitation. I don't understand all of the negative reviews. First off I LOVE everything about Encore in general. From the food to gaming I've encountered nothing but top notch service. We really enjoyed our lunch at Red 8. We split the Dim Sum Sampler for 2 and it was delicious! All the steamed goodies were super flavorful and fresh. We also had the Singapore Noodles and loved those as well. The food came out fast and hot which ensured to us it's level of freshness. I think the prices were reasonable and certainly comparable to restaurants in neighboring cities. I will definitely be back to Red 8 to try the noodle soups because they looked delicious! The staff was polite and attentive. We were checked on multiple times through the course of our lunch and never went without ice cold water. Totally overpriced and below average food... a bad experience all around. Dinner for 3 with 1 small appetizer each and 1 entree each was a huge bill ($140)and the food was not even as good as my local Chinese " cheap eats" place... Dim Sum was 3 times the price of any comparable Dim Sum place and it was below average. You can get much better Dim Sum down the street and Sun Luck in Medford which is great.... and a third of the cost. The "barbecued " pork belly was bland, limp, lacking flavor, and just overall poorly prepared. Steamed Pork bun was very heavy handed on the doughy bun, with a disproportionately small amount of " meat " inside. Crap. My shrimp toast was fair and nothing special but at $15 for this appetizer and 3 mini toasts makes it a ludicrous over priced and just plain rip off situation. Entrees' Crispy chicken was similar to if not worse than the General Tso chicken at my local $8.95 all you can eat Chinese Buffet. Nothing special and below average again. Shrimp Sichuan was supposed to be a spicy shrimp dish but it was AWFUL.... I eat a lot of gourmet Asian food and this was so salty and poorly prepared that it shouldn't even be served. It was that bad and at $23 was a total joke. I could have gotten a better shrimp dish at the refrigerated prepared foods section at Wegmans. Located in the Wynn Encore the prices were astronomical for the food quality and they spent a fortune on the furnishings of this place, but the food just plain sucked and with tip was about $160 for 3 people and small plates......a huge huge disappointment and I would absolutely not recommend this place. read more

I recently went here with two of my friends. We were excited to try this place out. The wait wasn't long at all. They sat us earlier than the recommended time to come back. After getting sat, we were greeted with (who I believed was) our server, she introduced herself and poured us each a glass of water and gave us a couple of minutes to scanned through the menu. I ended up flagging down another server to grab our check, this time we got it. The server was quick to grab our cards but another 10 minute passed, our cards weren't charged yet and he was just standing with the servers. I flagged down yet another server to grab the manager for me, at this point it was the manager who charged our cards, came over to apologized and when we told her our frustration she said we should've said something earlier. The food was pretty good but even with "reservations" you're gunna end up with a wait. The kitchen brings the food out slowly. Out of what we had, I would get the cucumber salad, oxtail noodle soup and Mongolian beef again plus the coconut dessert, that was really good. The Sichuan chili prawn taste more like spicy black bean sauce, not really up my alley and shrimp toast was oily but not bad. They had limited cocktails available from their menu. Pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this restaurant inside the Encore Resort and Casino! Both the food and service were excellent! We ordered the snow pea shoots (one of the best we've had), veggie lo mein, wonton noodle soup, mapo tofu (spicier here than other restaurants), and gai lan (Chinese broccoli). Restaurant was very vegan friendly!! The service was outstanding, we had folks greet us immediately and throughout dinner, we were checked on and had our water and teas filled. My party of 3 ordered the dim sum grand platter for four, and additional order of pork buns, spicy wontons, and soup dumplings from the dim sum page. The whole meal took us 2 hours, 75% of which was spent waiting. The food was disappointing and all the dim sum stuck to the rice paper and ripped open. They clearly don't have the skill to make proper soup dumplings so they place them in these stupid looking wooden trays with handles for you to pick up and even still 2 out of 3 ripped open and lost their soup, but the two who lost their soup did not miss out because it tasted like bland broth. In total we ordered the equivalent of 7 plates of dim sum that would cost you at most $30 in Chinatown and our bill came out to $104 and we left still hungry. On top of the bad over priced food the service was slow and awkward. The older gentleman that seemed to be the head waiter is so slow to take your order and acts like he's doing mental calculus with each line item you give him. Just write my order down, don't ponder the meaning of life also. He also scolded the girl pouring water for us in Chinese which was uncomfortable for everyone at the table, both those that could and could not understand his Chinese. The chicken and seafood and vegetables here were obviously not fresh. It was poorly seasoned and not authentic whatsoever. Having had Cantonese cuisine all my life in Boston, I can honestly say Red 8 is amongst the tastiest. Ordered a slew of items: BBQ platter (consisting of char siu, bbq roast pork, soy chicken): everything was delicious Beef brisket noodles: brisket was tender AF and broth was light and flavorful, hands down the best in Boston. Quite the surprise. Beef hor fun: rice noodles (hor fun) was FRESH and bouncy! Sichuan chili prawns: yaaas...not very spicy, but shrimp is succulent and tasty Beef tenderloin: super tender and fresh and full of flavor Mongolian beef: yum Service is excellent, huge considering service at Asian restaurants are usually lacking. Although the food is was great & being one of the best Cantonese restaurants, I would never pay the price out of pocket, it's simply too expensive for the sole reason of being in a casino where they'll know they'll have customers no matter what. My family and I have been a casino go-er for many decades now ranging from casinos in Vegas, Atlantic City, Bethlehem PA and now this Encore in Massachusetts. I have dealt with all types of customer service but this one definitely shocked my system. To keep it short, we were waiting for our table on the side near the greeter area. We were peaking inside to see if the rest of our party has arrived yet when one of the managers stepped in front of us abruptly and asked us if we had a reservation. We said yes and proceeded to tell her the name of the reservation. The manager tells us rudely that "there is no (name of person we stated earlier) here right now and if we can take a step back" pointing to the waiting area with an awkward smirk. I was absolutely shocked to experience this type of customer service. I was unable to get her name as things were happening too quickly. We went to Red 8 for a family dinner 4th of July. We had made reservations for a party of 5 the night before which was a good idea as we heard the hostess tell those who did not make reservations prior were waiting for an hour to get a table. At first glance, the decor is pleasing to the eye. There's alot of red and Chinese decorations. There is an injection of modernity with the red glasses (which turned out to be decoration as they were taken away upon us being seated) and plastic woven black and white chairs. All in all the staff was nice although we had to wait literally half an hour before we got our water. Our waitress was not very attentive but the older gentleman who brought out our food was very nice and fulfilled any requests that we had. Organization among the wait staff seemed to be not great and they were just be really slow despite being so many of the on the floor and not all the tables being full. I'm hoping it's because they are new and still getting used to the system. I do have to say that I felt like they did not receive enough training and that is why it was slow and kind of just all over the place. In terms of food, it was outrageously expensive. Sure, I get it. It's a casino and it's supposed to be extravagant. We are not the type of people who complain about prices but these were not consistent with the quality of food that we received. The dim sum were 8.88-9.88 for three pieces. THREE. Yes you heard that right. Below I'll go through the different things we ordered. We did double up on some of the dim sum dishes like the dumplings and etc however our total came up to about $180 something before tip was added. Here's what we got: -Pork Wontons, Red Chili The wontons were hard and kind of dry. My mom compared them to rocks. Served drowning in chili oil with a little too much vinegar. -Almond Shrimp Balls Not sure but the almond didn't seem fresh. Fried almond balls should be crispy but when we bit into these they were kinda soggy almost like when you leave nuts in a bag without sealing them? They just didn't taste right. -Steamed Prawn Dumplings Nothing special. Just normal shrimp dumplings. -Steamed Shainhainese Pork Soup Dumpling The presentation was cute with the little carrier baskets but I no one was impressed with the dumpling itself. The wrapper was super thick and doughy, not very delicate like the typical soup dumplings. I guess that's how no one ended up tearing theirs when trying to unstick their dumpling. The dumpling itself was like the pork wonton inside, hard like a rock with a very salty broth. -Steamed Chicken Feet Nothing special. They weren't served sitting in a puddle of oil which was nice. -Pan Fried Pork and Chive Dumpling Nothing special. Just normal pork and chive dumplings. -Assorted Barbecue Platter This was probably my favorite thing and really the only thing that we all agreed was good. It was a combination of the roasted duck, barbecue pork, and crispy roasted pork belly. The duck and barbeque pork was on the greasy side but not tough. The pork belly was cripsy albeit a bit on the hard side. -Kung Pao Shrimp Served swimming in an incredibly salty kung pao sauce. Probably should consider asking for a cup of hot water to rinse it off a bit. You'll definitely need to order a bowl of rice to share to eat this without getting hypertension. -Pad Thai Flat Rice Noodles with Shrimp I honestly didn't touch the pad thai since I don't like pad thai but judging by how both of my brothers barely grabbed any, it was at best nothing mindblowing.
