Went with a friend who works at Encore, we got the prime service and Im sure that was because he works there but the food was GOOD!!!! We ordered everything, the plates just kept coming & coming. Chef Kevin even came out to greet us, the manager stopped by, the staff was great (and I could even see they were this way with other tables so not just because of our table being an employee). The Salt & Pepper Calamari was hands down the best plate for me. The sushi was fresh & delicious, Portions were giant. Drinks were good, The vibe was great. The people watching was good! Want to drool just thinking about it! If you havent stopped in, do so.. You wont be disappointed!

RED 8 is located in the encore Boston Harbor Casino complex. All of the restaurants there exceptional. This one is famous for its Brisket noodle soup. It is HUGE, and can easily feed two. The broth is savory, and very filling, because fat adds flavor. THE DEAL: RED 8 makes some of the best beef collagen noodle soup you've never had

Service was quick and pleasant. Though we had a reservation, it seems we came in on a quieter night - but it was pretty calm in general, given how it's in the midst of a casino. Now, here's why I docked stars from this review: - The Peking Duck was just alright, though it felt more like roasted duck to us. This is mainly because of how the duck skin wasn't crispy and, frankly, felt a bit on the rubbery side. Plus, the overall dish didn't seem that fresh. - Speaking of freshness, the Lucky Envelope mocktail was alright for a mocktail, but the Crazy for Coconuts cocktail just felt off - especially with how the pearls didn't feel fresh in this drink, as it felt more powdery and like it was left out for some time. - Lastly, everything seemed pretty overpriced for what we got. All in all, we're probably not gonna be coming back any time soon.

This is a great restaurant! It's a bit odd you actually seem to have to enter through the casino but this is a great spot!! The ambience and decor was beautiful and the staff was exceptional!! We got to try a lot of the food options and it was all so delicious!! Some of the food was a bit pricey, but it was all really good!! My favorite was probably the bbq pork which was perfectly cooked and super flavorful, but the chow mein and Peking duck was also good! The chili wontons were pretty spicy but delicious! The shumai and steamed pork bun were great choices if you like dim sum options! We also got great spring rolls and crab Rangoon along with some green beans and bok choy For dessert we tried the sweet buns that were served with some sort of sweet cream dip that was to die for the drinks were also amazing although I forget the names of the specific ones we ordered

Really good Chinese food in the Encore Boston casino. Everything we tried came out piping hot and tasted great. Our waitress was very kind and provided great service. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 starts is because they are quite expensive!

I was so disappointed when I got my Mongolian beef... This was my FAVORITE DISH to get at Red 8. The beef was super tender and flavorful before. The quality of the beef was like steak. If you look back on my recent photos and compare to my recent trip, you can tell the quality fell off. To charge $31 for a dish that looks like it's from a local corner fast food Chinese restaurant is ridiculous. If I could, I would've went back and requested the dish to be remade lol it was that bad. Luckily the general gaos was good. If it's a chef thing, please do us all a favor and let him/her go lol I'm hoping I just went on a bad day... I will come back and hope that it's better.

Best food ever. The service was tops. A 10 for sure. I loved the vibe. Being able to hear and see the casino scene was awesome!

For the past few months, I've dined here a couple of times. I have tried their Mongolian beef, steamed shrimp & pork shu mai, whole peking duck, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, sauteed pea pods, braised tofu, Wagyu beef pot stickers, chicken & salty fish fried rice, Malaysian pineapple shrimp & chicken fried rice. The Mongolian beef was definitely one of my favorite dishes there. The beef was very tender and the dish had the right amount of spice. The shrimp and pork shu mai is definitely a good appetizer. The shu mai were plump and juicy. Although they don't carve the peking duck in front of you, the peking duck is actually really good. I wish they gave us more scallions and cucumbers for the wraps though. The braised tofu, sweet and sour pork, and the chicken and salty fish fried rice were all delicious. On the other hand, the Malaysian pineapple and chicken fried rice was a disappointment. The pineapple chunks were sour and the fried rice was very bland. For drinks, I have tried both the Lucky Envelope and Strawberry Bliss. The Lucky Envelope came with strawberry and lychee puree, mint, lime and soda water. It was pretty good. The Strawberry Bliss was made up of strawberry puree, pomegranate juice, basil and lemon. I didn't really like it. Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes, the waitstaff is very attentive and other times, they are not. Overall, I gave this place a solid four stars.

They have a window where you can see the butcher cutting up all the Chinese BBQ meats. I got the 3 plate combo which was about $15. I got the roast pork, BBQ pork, and roast duck. The roast pork was on the salty side. Had about 6 pieces but only 2 had the crispy skin on it. Told the server and she was able to get us more and apologized that some was missing due to the cut. Skin was crispy. The roast duck and bbq pork was average. Would prefer if it came with more bbq sauce.

After moving from its original large dining hall to a newer location on Essex Street, the restaurant has a more modern and compact layout while still keeping the familiar dim sum experience. Even with the smaller space, it remains a busy spot, especially on weekend mornings when the dining room fills up quickly with groups looking for a classic dim sum meal. I came here for the traditional dim sum service, and the menu covers all of the staples you would expect. Dishes like shu mai, har gow, rice noodle rolls, and steamed pork buns were easy to find as the carts made their way around the dining room. There is something nostalgic about choosing dishes directly from the carts as they pass by, and it adds to the experience in a way that ordering from a menu cannot quite replicate. That said, I found the food itself to be a little inconsistent. Some dishes arrived fresh and enjoyable, while others felt like they had been sitting a bit longer before reaching the table. The familiar dim sum classics were satisfying enough, but the quality and flavors varied from plate to plate, making the overall meal less memorable than I had hoped. It was still an enjoyable way to sample a variety of dishes, but not every item stood out. The service matched the fast-paced atmosphere of a busy dim sum restaurant. Once seated, the meal moved along quickly as carts circulated through the dining room and staff kept everything running efficiently. During peak hours it can get loud and crowded, so it is worth arriving earlier if you prefer a quieter experience. Overall, Hei La Moon is still a recognizable part of Boston's Chinatown and offers the traditional cart-style dim sum experience that has become increasingly difficult to find. While I appreciated the atmosphere and the chance to enjoy classic dim sum in a longstanding neighborhood restaurant, I felt the food quality was inconsistent enough that I would probably explore some of the newer dim sum spots in Boston before returning.

Flavored Chicken雲香雞: Originating from the "Yunxiang Lou雲香樓" restaurant in Guangzhou, this is an old-style Cantonese dish. I haven't tried the original one myself, so I can't comment on whether it's authentic, but it tasted similar to what's known as "salted chicken鹹雞" in Guangdong. The chicken itself was already salty enough, so the ginger and scallion sauce was a delightful addition to the rice - as all Cantonese know. It seems to be made with young hens; the skin was fragrant, moist but not oily, and the meat was tender and smooth, with a strong original aroma of chicken雞味. Even the chicken breast wasn't dry at all. The simple salt-baking鹽焗 style and peanut oil seasoning perfectly brought out the chicken's freshness and aroma. It was even delicious after being reheated the next day. It would have been even better if the chicken skin was crispy, but it's hard to ask for more in the US. Vegetables with Garlic蒜蓉菜遠: I haven't had such flavorful stir-fried Choy Sum菜心 (Chinese Flowering Cabbage) in a long time. I even missed the Cantonese greens more than the chicken, so I ate the whole plate by myself. Stir-fried greens need a generous amount of oil to be truly fragrant. It was 10:30pm so my options were limited, decided to give Jade Garden a try. Ordered a wonton noodle soup. Now, I did not expect it to be as good or authentic as Sam Woo in Alhambra CA or Mike's in Seattle Chinatown. But what was served was a complete travesty of this classic HK staple. The broth had no flavor (adding white pepper didn't help much); the wontons were sad-looking, had no shrimp inside and the 'mystery meat' tasted mushy like it was about to give me food poisoning so I spit it out. The manager insisted the wontons were "freshly made" and walked away but I knew better, so I asked another waiter to sent it back. New dish = Fish fillet with vegs rice plate. The fish was fine, but the vegs were undercooked (onion almost completely raw) and there was very little sauce on the rice. Another fail. Maybe it's not their regular chef for the late night shift, but I probably won't be back. As with most U.S. Chinatowns, the best Chinese food is found in nearby suburbs and neighborhoods (such as the fine Shanghainese restaurant JiangNan by the Boston Common.)
