Service was one of my favorite experiences at Red 8. The food is delicious and it might be pricey for some but that's expected from a restaurant that's right inside Encore. It's also one of the more affordable options in Encore so if you think that Red 8 is expensive, you should probably eat somewhere outside the casino. read more

This is my 3rd time dinning at the Red 8. I normally would be hesitant to write a review on a Chinese restaurants as their services are expected to be at the low end. This is my first time writing a review on a Chinese restaurant simply my friends and I we were extremely pleased with our service with one of the staff, Pisal. To be frank, my first experience with the Red 8 was not pleasant. Both my guests and I we felt unwelcomed as we patiently waited to be served. After being seated for good. 10 mins, and saw the waiters walked by (on a weekday, not busy), we took the initiate to flag down a staff to serve us. By then, we were also ready to order. The rest of the evening, again, flagged down the waitress with our needs. Though we were pleased to see our food came out in a timely manner but we were not impressed when our soup never came out. When we finished our meal (after inquiring about it a few times), the soup still got delayed. By then, half of the people at our table of 12, lost patience and left. After my first experience, I thought I would give it a break and come back when things improved. Our second experience was when our friends decided to stay for dinner. After our first experience, we felt skeptical about going back. Since the table was ready for us, the "no wait" was a bonus. So we decided to give Red 8 another chance. Luckily, we did! We were all very pleased with our server, Pisal. He took notice of our table within mins and came promptly to our service. He was patient with the order taking and answered all our questions. His knowledge of the menu and proactive approached, made us all welcomed and valued as a customer. We had a pleasant dinning experience under his care and left him a nice tip for his hospitality and outstanding service. We personally thank him and everyone left highly satisfied and happy. Today, a friend and I, we decided to stop in for a quick late night meal. Though the after the hour "Express Menu" is curtailed but it covered a good selection of the typical Chinese late night snacking which include the stirred fried noodles, soup noodles, congee, dimsum ... Etc. Though we were seated quickly, again, no service to our table. There were a few staffs on the floor and with eye contact no one came to our assistance or acknowledge our presence. Luckily, Pisal walked by. He quickly took notice of our table and prompt to take over. He wasted no time getting our beverages and orders in. After seeing him on site, we were relieved and excited to know we will be taken care of. I personally shared with him, I only want him to serve us in going forward. He is courteous, respectful, attentive and full of energy. His positive and friendly attitude made us feel at home. Again, my friends and I were fortunate to have Pisal wait on us. I will talk briefly on the food. Most of the people that I know including myself that had dinned at the Red 8, we all agreed the food is good and authentic. Though pricing is on the high end, factoring in the venue, its name, the freshness, high quality seafood and ingredients used ... etc, it is expected to be pricey and upscale. I am pleased with the consistency of the food from the kitchen. The Imperial Peking Duck served with the Steamed Buns/Crêpes is many people's favorite or must have. One item that's a little off and not what most people expected is the Stewed Beef & Tomato Soup. Most people and myself ordered this find it surprising and distasteful to see this typical soup came out to be more of a tomato paste, similar to the marinara sauce. It's a well known soup and is normally slowly cooked in low heat utilizing the five spices and fresh tomatoes that are cutted in slices. The five spices is not present in the soup and the tomatoes, pureed to look more like a paste. Not knowing this item would be off, my guests and I we both ordered this just to give it a try. We both were shock when the soup came out looking pureed. We did give it a try. After the first bite, we could not bare to continue. We voiced our opion to the manager. We were told there's "nothing" she can do but to order the original and still be charged for the misleading "soup". Well, considered lesson learned. We passed our experience to our friends to avoid ordering the Stewed Beef & Tomato "Soup". On the bright note, we ended our meal with a nice desesert recommended by Pisal. We loved the Coconut Mango, Sago/Chocolate Shell. It's not too sweet and it was delicious. Again, Pisal saved the evening. This time, he earned 40% tips from us for his consistency of the above and beyond service. We will be back again. Thank you Pisal! Attached are just few pics of our food. My host made me a reservation to have dinner. I ordered crab Rangoon for app. Just ok. I ordered shrimp fried rice it had THREE shrimp no flavor. I also got chicken chowmein and Mongolian beef. Chicken chowmein was noodles with hardly any chicken and tasted like soy sauce it was not good. The Mongolian beef was delicious. I ordered a cosmopolitan it was so good. The server was friendly, attentive and informative. I will not be back. Very dissatisfied. read more

This is a lovely restaurant with great service. I have eaten here at least a half dozen times. While I've enjoyed many of their dishes, I am specifically addressing chicken dishes including Kung Pao chicken, lemon chicken, and general gaus chicken. The chicken is mostly dried out, does not taste fresh, and the quality of the chicken is very inconsistent within the dish itself as if they've combined chicken from different sources. I'm guessing the chicken is taken from the freezer because it's distinctly not fresh tasting, to the point of some pieces even tasting very badly. I've decided that I had to write this review so that people used caution with chicken dishes there. The other dishes I've had are delicious and seem fresh. This restaurant is expensive and has a Michelin star chef so I fully expected top notch freshness. read more

I like their dim sum and Peking duck. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes are full of flavor. The service attitude is also very good.

This place was a complete disaster last night. We waited 50 minutes for food to arrive. We ordered 3 dishes and after the Kung Pao chicken arrived. It was another15 minutes for the sautéed bok choy to show up. Our shrimp Phad Thai never came. We asked the manager Peter to check on our order and he reminded me that I had only been waiting 45 minutes. Then before checking on the order went over to a table of 8 to take their order. He was a complete embarrassment. I asked to cancel the phad thai as it was late then he offered to give it free to go. Like he was doing me a favor. Never even considered comping the meal. The amount you get for the price you pay plus the flavor is extremely disappointing and sad. We ordered chicken and beef fried rice, pho (terrible, $22 for bland soup) general tso, Mongolian beef, chicken wings, and hot sour soup. We wanted to order more but the waiter said okay, that's enough food for you. He was inattentive and wouldn't come to us when we called. He looked annoyed and seem to only cater to non-Asians. The female waitress we're nice though. Hope they had to split the tip. I was trying to use 300 comp dollars I had, which is why I was ordering a lot. . Everything was very under seasoned and just not good at all. Please DO not get the pho. I tried to season it with hoisin sauce and Siracha sauce. First time I didn't finish my pho, The portion was so small... I was hoping to order duck, but they only serve it on Wednesday. Red 8 is one of my favorite spots around Mass.! I've been to the casino a couple of times just to eat at Red 8. The crispy pork belly is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of the fried rice dishes either. Or the mongolian beef. I've never had a bad meal there! I highly recommend it! read more

This was a pretty disappointing experience and even the non vg eaters in my family agree. For one, the service was friendly but veryy slow. The food took forever to come. My sister and I ordered the lotus dumplings, cucumber app, and the "wok fried" lettuce with fermented tofu.... the lotus dim sum was probably the best thing and even that was flavorless and mediocre. The cucumber app was definitely not authentic and tasted oddly like the cucumber you would find in a California roll. Lastly the lettuce tasted like it was boiled and plated without even the slightest bit of seasoning. It reminded me so much of the soggy iceberg lettuce you would find in a school lunch hamburger. It didn't even come with the tofu! Not to mention that the portions were tiny for the expensive price. After this disappointment we ordered white rice which we felt assured that they couldn't mess up. Maybe I'm just being particular but the rice was soggy and over cooked, something that you would not expect at an upscale Chinese restaurant. Then again, there were a lot of expectations that were not met today. We definitely would have left hungry if we didn't remember our trusty lunch leftovers and ate it there. My family who ate some of the meat based dishes had similar experiences to mine and agreed that the food was subpar. Overall, would not recommend this place at all. read more

We had chance to revisit Red8 at Encore Boston Harbor about a year after my last review (Jan2020) with a small group of family, and once again enjoyed a great meal, outstanding service, and a spotless dining environment---with a limited menu and seating, due to Covid-19 restrictions. Happily, another 5-star afternoon of amazing food. Of course, when the serving dishes are sent back to the kitchen completely empty, you begin to appreciate the quality of the food. Regulars might notice that some of the recipes have changed, and our server informed us that Red8 Boston has a new executive chef---and a Michelin Star rated chef at that! We started the meal with our usual favorites, including the sweet and sour cucumber salad, Shrimp Toast, and crab rangoon. The cucumber salad (new recipe) was rather bland and wilted this time (but the restaurant manager took this item off our bill, without our asking.) The shrimp toast and crab rangoon were crispy, crunchy and flavorful. The entrees, all served family-style, included the "Singapore" rice noodles (a special "off the menu" order, and prepared to our specifications--with pork and shrimp, without even a question or hesitation from the staff), spicy Mongolian Beef (which was tender and peppery), char siu (tender and juicy barbecued pork in a delicate maple glaze), stir fried Asian vegetables (with baby bok choy and other tender greens), and the Red8 combo fried rice (with various meats, shrimp and vegetables). It was clear that some of the recipes have changed---and everything tasted a bit more exotic and appetizing. The food was excellent and pleasing to the palate! Our server was Wei---he was attentive, knowledgeable, and professional, along with the other servers who delivered dishes to our table. With a new executive chef and menu/recipe changes in place, Red8 has become one of Boston's premier dining establishments---and we are looking forward to our next visit. Oddly, it won't be the casino and the gaming experience that will bring us to Encore next time---it will be Red8---and the incredible dining adventure that it offers! Highly recommended (and we concede that consistency will be the challenge, but we think Red8 is well on its way! read more

The service, decor, and location were excellent. The food however was not very good. The chicken satay was deep fried, dry and hard. We had two rice dishes that were just ok. Prices were at a great premium to what you can find outside the casino. read more

Update: My wife and I went back for another Peking duck and it was even better with crispier skin. This time we also enjoyed the assorted bbq dish which came with crispy pork belly and snow pea shoots with garlic. My wife said the pork belly was one of the best she's ever had and it's as good as you'd get in Hong Kong. Highly recommend it. read more

Went here yesterday for dinner and it took us 1.5 hours for our drinks to arrive. Forget about our food. It never came. I told the hostess what had happened and she brought the manager over and she told me she'd talk to the chef. She comes back and tells me the chef isn't listening to her. At this point I told her it's fine and that we were just going to leave. She proceeded to give me attitude and I told her that there was no reason to be upset and walked out. The table next to me wasn't too happy either as their food did come out 1.5 hours later but was cold. If you ask me if you're going to charge customers that much money for food at least make the experience enjoyable. Not a great way to start off an opening for a casino. read more

The service was very bad, food was expensive but expected and just ok. I went yesterday at around 8 pm, wasn't too busy, but service was very bad and slow. My server's name was Roland and he had the biggest attitude. When my friend ordered hot water and then a second later decided to drink hot tea, he said "so which is it, hot water or tea" and rolled his eyes. Later when we asked him to take our order, he said " can't you see I am busy?" And rolled his eyes again and walked to the back. Don't know what he was busy doing, but he never came back and another server came to take our order. There was also an elderly gentleman behind us that kept asking for the check and no one gave him the check for the longest time. He kept on stopping the hostess, but she also gave him a WTF face and would walk 20 feet away from him and complain with the most exaggerated expressions to the other waiters on she is not a server, why does he keep on asking her and not a server, and would not help him get his check or get him a box for his leftovers. I don't get it? Can't she just not complain and ask the waiters to get the gentleman the check and a box instead? After a long time finally a manager passed by and brought him his check. And also, it's a Chinese restaurant, there are so many elderly Chinese, but none of the hostess spoke Chinese, and kept on going back to this one waiter who spoke Chinese to help, which is perfectly fine, but they would be so mean to him when they asked him to help, which is just really hard to watch. read more
