Went with a friend who works at Encore, we got the prime service and Im sure that was because he works there but the food was GOOD!!!! We ordered everything, the plates just kept coming & coming. Chef Kevin even came out to greet us, the manager stopped by, the staff was great (and I could even see they were this way with other tables so not just because of our table being an employee). The Salt & Pepper Calamari was hands down the best plate for me. The sushi was fresh & delicious, Portions were giant. Drinks were good, The vibe was great. The people watching was good! Want to drool just thinking about it! If you havent stopped in, do so.. You wont be disappointed!

Brisket and rice noodle soup... Dave says it's the best soup in Boston!

RED 8 is located in the encore Boston Harbor Casino complex. All of the restaurants there exceptional. This one is famous for its Brisket noodle soup. It is HUGE, and can easily feed two. The broth is savory, and very filling, because fat adds flavor. THE DEAL: RED 8 makes some of the best beef collagen noodle soup you've never had

Service was quick and pleasant. Though we had a reservation, it seems we came in on a quieter night - but it was pretty calm in general, given how it's in the midst of a casino. Now, here's why I docked stars from this review: - The Peking Duck was just alright, though it felt more like roasted duck to us. This is mainly because of how the duck skin wasn't crispy and, frankly, felt a bit on the rubbery side. Plus, the overall dish didn't seem that fresh. - Speaking of freshness, the Lucky Envelope mocktail was alright for a mocktail, but the Crazy for Coconuts cocktail just felt off - especially with how the pearls didn't feel fresh in this drink, as it felt more powdery and like it was left out for some time. - Lastly, everything seemed pretty overpriced for what we got. All in all, we're probably not gonna be coming back any time soon.

This is a great restaurant! It's a bit odd you actually seem to have to enter through the casino but this is a great spot!! The ambience and decor was beautiful and the staff was exceptional!! We got to try a lot of the food options and it was all so delicious!! Some of the food was a bit pricey, but it was all really good!! My favorite was probably the bbq pork which was perfectly cooked and super flavorful, but the chow mein and Peking duck was also good! The chili wontons were pretty spicy but delicious! The shumai and steamed pork bun were great choices if you like dim sum options! We also got great spring rolls and crab Rangoon along with some green beans and bok choy For dessert we tried the sweet buns that were served with some sort of sweet cream dip that was to die for the drinks were also amazing although I forget the names of the specific ones we ordered

Really good Chinese food in the Encore Boston casino. Everything we tried came out piping hot and tasted great. Our waitress was very kind and provided great service. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 starts is because they are quite expensive!

I was so disappointed when I got my Mongolian beef... This was my FAVORITE DISH to get at Red 8. The beef was super tender and flavorful before. The quality of the beef was like steak. If you look back on my recent photos and compare to my recent trip, you can tell the quality fell off. To charge $31 for a dish that looks like it's from a local corner fast food Chinese restaurant is ridiculous. If I could, I would've went back and requested the dish to be remade lol it was that bad. Luckily the general gaos was good. If it's a chef thing, please do us all a favor and let him/her go lol I'm hoping I just went on a bad day... I will come back and hope that it's better.

Best food ever. The service was tops. A 10 for sure. I loved the vibe. Being able to hear and see the casino scene was awesome!

For the past few months, I've dined here a couple of times. I have tried their Mongolian beef, steamed shrimp & pork shu mai, whole peking duck, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, sauteed pea pods, braised tofu, Wagyu beef pot stickers, chicken & salty fish fried rice, Malaysian pineapple shrimp & chicken fried rice. The Mongolian beef was definitely one of my favorite dishes there. The beef was very tender and the dish had the right amount of spice. The shrimp and pork shu mai is definitely a good appetizer. The shu mai were plump and juicy. Although they don't carve the peking duck in front of you, the peking duck is actually really good. I wish they gave us more scallions and cucumbers for the wraps though. The braised tofu, sweet and sour pork, and the chicken and salty fish fried rice were all delicious. On the other hand, the Malaysian pineapple and chicken fried rice was a disappointment. The pineapple chunks were sour and the fried rice was very bland. For drinks, I have tried both the Lucky Envelope and Strawberry Bliss. The Lucky Envelope came with strawberry and lychee puree, mint, lime and soda water. It was pretty good. The Strawberry Bliss was made up of strawberry puree, pomegranate juice, basil and lemon. I didn't really like it. Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes, the waitstaff is very attentive and other times, they are not. Overall, I gave this place a solid four stars.

TLDR: Potentially…read moreone of my favorite Chinese restaurants in all of Massachusetts! Beautiful interior, centrally located, and delicious, high-quality food. Will definitely find a reason to come back here soon. ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] STIR-FRIED CABBAGE W/ PORK BELLY (5/5) Presentation was phenomenal (in a clay pot with its own burner underneath to keep it hot). The portion was much larger than expected, and most importantly, it tasted incredible. Generous amounts of pork in this, and the sauce was authentic and addicting. 2. SCALLION CHICKEN (5/5) Another great choice. This was a huge portion with lots of tender chicken, and the scallion was present without being overpowering. 3. CRISPY BEEF WITH FRIED DOUGH STICKS (5/5) I was expecting Chinese you tiao but these were actually the small, ultra crispy manhua twists! Paired with the beef, this was a large and unique dish that I loved. The crispiness of the mahua made this a textural delight to eat. 4. MANGO SAGO DESSERT (5/5) Big portion, wonderful assortment of toppings including grapefruit, mango, sago, and popping balls over a creamy dessert soup base. 5. PEKING DUCK (4/5) I think I'm a tough critic since I just came back from Beijing and had so much Peking duck there. We ordered the half portion here and it had a generous amount of meat for not being the full portion. There were an assortment of accompaniments, including pineapple (new to me) and sugar (like the Beijing style) which were welcome additions. The wrappers were steamed well and didn't curl up on the edges. Overall this was a solid Peking duck, but the meat wasn't as standout as I was hoping. 6. STEAMED PORK SOUP DUMPLING (4/5) Solid soup dumplings. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely hit the spot. 7. SAUTEED PEA SPROUTS (4/5) Another solid classic. 8. PORK MEATBALL IN CRAB MEAT SAUCE (4/5) This was the most unique thing we ordered. I've never had a shi zi tou meatball with crab meat sauce before. The meatball itself was large (maybe size of a tennis ball), tender, and fatty, as it should be. It was then drowned in a generous lake of traditional crab meat sauce. If you're not a fan of crab meat then this might be a bit too fishy for you, but honestly it all combined surprisingly well and I grew to like this dish more and more with each bite. I wasn't the biggest fan to start, but by the end I wouldn't have minded getting another one! ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * The interior has the classic Asian style of decor, but you can tell it was recently built / renovated because everything felt new and fresh. * The ambiance also felt more new-school luxurious vs. the typical Asian establishments that are more no-frills with as many tables packed in as possible * You're still somewhat close to the tables around you, but it's not overwhelming during lunch time and we still felt like we had enough space regardless * There's a bar area at the front of the restaurant and then a large, spacious dining room in the back * This is a great place for a date or a meaningful family gathering * Right outside is Boston Common, making this restaurant very well-located for lunch before or after a nice day in the park. While there's lots of parking around the park, a spot itself can be hard to come by, so your best bet might be to use the nearby parking garage instead ------ SERVICE: * Overall the service was great and quick. They did forget our tea, but when we asked for it later they apologized profusely and were quick to bring it out for us * This place fills up quickly so be sure to come early if you don't have a reservation or if you're a big enough group, make a reservation for your desired dining time

Peking Duck (7/10): Honestly, I never order Peking duck unless I'm with my relatives. It tasted good to me, but pretty comparable to other Peking ducks I've had in the US. We tried a variety of oysters, cocktail shrimp, and the razor clams which we heard were amazing. All I'm gonna say is, I would have been annoyed if I waited in line for hours for the items we got. The cocktail shrimp was decent - it was a good size, juicy, and delicious. The razor clams were a miss. Rubbery and too many other things in the dish overshadowing the clams. We got two different kinds of fresh clams which my husband said were okay. I'm not a fan of fresh clams. Unfortunately, Yelp doesn't allow for half stars, but Yunnan Kitchen would be a solid 4.5/5 for me…read more A group of friends and I made the trek to the South End on a rather sad, rainy day, so we had high expectations for the food. For the most part, Yunnan delivered. We came in on a Sunday at 5 pm, and the restaurant was moderately busy. We were able to find seating and order relatively quickly. Based on one friend's suggestion and a bit of online help, we ordered the Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil, the Mint Beef, the Potato Pancake, and the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes. Overall, the meal was pretty good. The stars of the dinner were the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes and the Mint Beef (which was realllyyyy minty and herbaceous), while the fish tasted pretty standard for a typical Chinese restaurant. The Potato Pancake added some nice texture, but it wasn't particularly memorable and I probably wouldn't order it again. Now you might ask... okay? Cozy restaurant, fast service, good food--why the 0.5 off? And sadly, it was the dessert. Call me picky, but this was the part I had the highest hopes for. After finishing our meal, we decided to get the Coconut Delight and the Devil Sweet Sticky Balls (their words, not mine). The Coconut Delight was... okay. The best part was the bread (three pieces per cup), which, when soaked in the coconut milk, was just heavenly. But beyond that, the dish resembled a rather sad, runny coconut sago. The Devil Sweet Sticky Balls weren't much better. We loved the texture of the rice balls (chewy!), but the brown sugar syrup tasted burnt and left a strange, bitter aftertaste. This may have been a one-off, so we'll have to return to verify (and when we do, I'll update this review). But to give Yunnan the benefit of the doubt, I'll round up to a full 5 stars for now. For main dishes, fast service, and a cozy ambiance, Yunnan hits all the right boxes (just not quite dessert!)

The lighting here is very dim and gives off romantic vibes, although it's not necessarily a…read moreromantic spot. We came for dinner on a Sunday and it was fairly quiet. The food is authentic Yunnan cuisine, and while many menu items are labeled spicy, I wouldn't consider them very spicy. The flavors are more well-seasoned with just a slight hint of spice. The stir-fried rice cakes were delicious and reminded me of pad see ew in texture and flavor. The beef with longhorn peppers was very tender, and the sweet and sour pork had the perfect balance of crispiness, sweetness, and tang. The fish fillet in chili oil came in a huge portion, but I wished it had more spice. It tasted more like lightly spiced oil and lacked additional depth of flavor. I also did not enjoy the Dali mushrooms, as they were very dry and bland even with the side of chili powder. Overall, I would come back because the food is good, but if you're expecting bold heat, I recommend asking for a higher spice level. The service was okay.
